Lightroom 4 has stopped recognizing the photos on my external hard drive. They do show up in Finder (Mac) as they have been. Does anyone know what might have happened?

We don't need your phone number, and in fact its probably not a good idea to include your phone number in a public forum like this.
You may have accidentally opened a new catalog, which is empty. Try opening the catalogs under File->Open Recent and see if any of them display your photos.
If that doesn't work, have your computer search your hard disks for *.LRCAT files. If found, double-click on them.
If that doesn't work, restore a recent backup of your catalog.

Prior to these steps I provided my C/C detals and paid for the book. i had to Force Quit the iPhoto app, and now wondering what to do!? Did you get a confirmation email from Apple? Click on the Store button at the top of this page and use the Account ➙ Track a Purchase link. That will tell you if they received your book. Apple doesn't charge the card until it is shipped. You can also check with your credit card company to see if there's been a charge from Apple.
Try previewing the book by Control-clicking in the background of the view all pages in iPhoto and select Preview Book or Save Book as PDF:
If that process fails then there's a work around for it. Boot into Safe Mode and preview the book again to make sure you can get a PDF of the book. If you can then order the book while still in Safe Mode. Save the PDF file to compare with the printed book. If the PDF file is satisfactory the printed book should match it.
What size book are you ordering? Xtra large?

i have the apple tv2. I was working ok,with no problems but now will not see my library. I have all my films music etc.. on a extl hard drive and my itunes is set to that file.
its wireless connected via my Bt home hub
I have tried restore , i have moved it to a new location . as i said i can get youtube and go to the itunes store but will not see my media files .
tried unplugging router, unplugged the apple tv, no success.
any other suggestions Winston?

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Upgraded LR4.3 to LR4.4, how to see photos only on external drive?

I just upgraded from LR4.3 to 4.4 and now there are no photos in the library. My photos are on an external hard drive. How do I get LR4.4 to see my photos, without having to re-import them?

It sounds as though you may have created a new catalog which would be empty when first created.
Hold down the Alt key when you start Lightroom and it should show a list of your recent catalogs.
You can get a new catalog if your external drive isn’t attached or is a different drive letter when you start up LR and LR is trying to open the previous catalog that won’t exist if the drive isn’t attached with the same drive letter as before. Usually this default catalog is on your C drive.

IMac (white core duo) has stopped seeing my wi-fi

My computer is in the same place it's been for the last four years. Nothing has changed in our house. My wife's iPad and my iPod Touch still use the wi-fi fine. Two days ago though, my iMac stopped seeing it. It will see it, but it will come and go - and never with full strenght. I get errors saying I'm not connected to the internet, etc. It's crazy and of course I can get nothing done from it (typing this on wife's eMac, wired to the DSL router via ethernet).
What's even stranger is that wi-fi networks I've never seen before show up in my pull down list periodically.
I've restarted the mac, turned off and on the router. I've checked for updates on the mac (none). I'm running 10.5.8 (leopard).
As i've said, nothing has changed about my setup or our house. No new electronics. No new phones. No new anything!
Any help would be appreciated.

If it turns out it's bad, or if you just want to try something, there are these type things - USB wi-fi adapters. I have never owned nor used one. You permanently lose a USB port, but they might solve your problem at least till you get your next Mac

IMac has stopped "seeing" CDs

I have a 24" early-2008 iMac runinng 10.7.2 that has stopped mounting blank CDs. I guess I made a horrible mistake by installing "Virtual CD-RW" (1.1.4); it failed to work properly. iTunes would put up the "Hey a CD! What do you want me to do?" dialog, but the "CD" would never appear on the desktop or in iTunes.
So, I uninstalled "Virtual CD-RW", but now the physical drive does exactly the same thing! And yes, immediately before I installed "Virtual CD-RW" the physical drive worked fine.
Thoughts? Help?

Well after spending the last six weeks with no wifi connection and mucking around with changing the wifi channels I came across a post (using my pc!) about the 10.6.7 upgrade and how connectivity had been lost. So I moved the Imac - used my ethernet cable and connected to the router, downloaded the 10.6.8 - and low and behold the airport reconnected. I pulled out the ethernet cable, rebooted and imac still connected. Shutdown a second time - moved imac across other side of room with daughter watching to see if airport connected all the time - YES. Shutdown and rebooted in Imacs usual wireless position 3 metres from router - and YES still connected. Checked all ipads to see if they could still connect, and as at Sunday 4.15pm 14 August we have all pcs, imac and ipads wirelessly connected. Kids happy

V13 elements says "Has stopped working"... Windows cannot find fix.

What computer operating system?
At the onset, determine if the problem exists with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Did you ever get into a 13 project before the "has stopped working" message appeared?
Did you have time to work with the program so that you could update 13 to 13.1? Did the "has stopped working" message
appear after you updated 13 to 13.1?
If you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1 installed on the same computer as 13/13.1 and 12 is working and 13 is not,
then I would suggest the following
1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if that does not work, delete the whole 13.0 Folder in which the
Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
Assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit

and in the 13.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Make sure your computer is not set
up to hide files, folders, and drives.

resolve the problem, then go for
a. Uninstall, the usual Control Panel route
b. followed by free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
c. followed by reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Please review and consider, let us know the outcome, and then we will decide what next.

Import problem. LR4 Can't see folders on my external hard drive.

When I go to import to select the device from which to import in, it doesn't show me the folders in that device. So I click show subfolders and then it shows me my thousands of photos
I want to be able to select the folders to look at from my External Hard drive but there is no drop down menu.
I know it's there because I've used it before.
I'm not sure if I've posted my screen shot or not.
I've fixed the problem but I don't know why it keeps happening so I want to find out what I'm doing.

In the screen shot you can see that my External Hard IS showing the folders it contains but I have no idea how I got that function back when it goes.
I've clicked on arrows and right clicked on things and then 'boom' it's working again.

Now that I see the screenshot I understand what you mean: The NO NAME is being interpreted as a camera memory card (a device) rather than a removable hard-drive, so when you import images from a CF card it doesn’t show all the subfolders, it just shows the pictures, and won’t let you do an Add or Movie import, just the two Copy variations.
Try this:
1)   Click on the up-down arrow to the right of NONAME
2)   Select Other Source…
3)   Navigate to a subfolder on NO NAME and click Select or Ok or whatever it says and it’ll list that subfolder. The icon at the top left should change from a straight-on black device icon to a rotated, lighter removable drive icon.
4)   Press F5 to refresh the Files icons and your NO NAME device should show up as a drive-letter or removable drive down in the lower area, in addition to being a Device above.   Once it is in the lower Files area you should have the clickable arrows to go into subfolders.

How to see Photos on a external hard drive from diffrent computers?

My wife uses a laptop to down load all of our photos on to an enternal hard drive. I have the same Adobe 5.0 on my desktop as her laptop. I would like to know how to view and if possable organize and edit the photos on the hard drive form my desktop ?

And I know I can see the photos on the drive, but I realy need to see the photos that have been taged by the other computer to make it easier to find them.

IPhoto has stopped downloading photos from my camera

It worked a few weeks ago. Now iPhoto takes several minutes to decide it can't read the format. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix S8100.

try image capture (in yoru applications folder) or if the camera mounts to the desktop drag tthe desktop and import from there or use a card reader
Once you have the photos safely off the memory card use the camera's format command to erace and reformat the card
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

ITunes Has Stopped Seeing my Music...

Hello,
I have my iTunes library on a network share (instead of my MacBook), and it's never been a problem until a couple days ago.
Here are the symptoms: any new music/podcasts added - no problem. Every morning I refresh my podcasts, and iTunes finds the Library on the networked share and copies the new podcasts to it. No problem. However all of the rest of my 3600+ songs/podcasts (anything added prior to just a few days ago) have little question-marks in front of them. If I click on them, I get the "iTunes can not locate this song, would you like to locate it?" error. If I click "yes" and navigate to the iTunes library on the network share, then iTunes can find it.
Also, after a reboot of the MacBook, iTunes resets the library location back to the default (MacBook/Users/Joe/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music). Just quitting/restarting the iTunes app does not do this. It's never done this before. I can't figure out what's changed.
After a reboot, I've changed the library location back to the music folder on the network share (several times). I've tried "Consolidate Library" several times. Nothing seems to work.
Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it? Thanks!

Oh, if only it were that easy. The former location (harddrive) of the iTunes library has been moved to a new location on the network.
Cast:
Workshop PC (Red Hat Linux)

Plot:
A newcomer to the home network disrupts the status-quo. Hilarity ensues.
Scene One:
The iTunes library was on a 2nd harddrive in Workshop PC. Library was copied to External Harddrive (this is the step that I should have let iTunes perform).
Scene Two:
New Office PC is installed. It is assigned network name "OfficePC". External Harddrive containing new copy of iTunes library is connected to OfficePC.
Scene Three:
2nd harddrive from Workshop PC (containing original iTunes library) is removed and placed in OfficePC for use as network storage. Workshop PC is retired.
Scene Four:
Old Office PC is moved into workshop to replace retired Workshop PC. Harddrive is wiped and a fresh install of Ubuntu is performed. Old Office PC is reborn as "Workshop".
Epilogue:
So it's not really possible to move the iTunes library back to where it was. How about this: what if I copy the library to the default location on the MacBook? (MacBook/Users/Joe/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music) Then reboot. As I mentioned earlier, iTunes seems to default back to this location after a reboot. So then I point iTunes to a new location on the External Harddrive and Consolidate. Sound reasonable?

I am running 10.7.5. Time Machine has stopped backing up to my external drive

I am unable to get my time machine to do a backup. When I plug my external drive into the macbook, there is no message to ask me if I want to backup my laptop. The external drive mounts, but nothing happens. I have done a "repair disk" and a "verify" disk and found no problems.

Has that drive already been setup (and/or used) as a Time Machine target for this computer? If so, you can click on the Time Machine icon on the top menu bar, and click on the "Backup Now" option. If, for whatever reason, the drive cannot be used, it'll at least give some kind of error message to help in troubleshooting.
Another thing to try is to go to the Time Machine preferences and "re-select" the external drive that you're using as a target.

My IMac has stopped seeing the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes on saying it is looking to pair with the IMac but without success. I am left with the IMac switched on and I am unable to enter a password.

I have been using my IMac without a problem when I left it and went back to enter the password the IMac did not see the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes up on the keyboard and then starts to flash indicating it is looking for the IMac but nothing happens. I have tried another set of new batteries with the same result. Is there any known problems in this area. The IMac is 5 months old.

TS1286 Hi; I am using windows 7, and have an ipod touch 4g. Itunes has stopped seeing it.

when I go to restore the ipod, it gives me an error 1604. I have restarted my computer, switched usb ports, verified usb 2.0, updated itunes, and switched cables, but still get the error. Now the ipod will only power up to the 'connect to itunes' screen unless I put it in the mode it needs to be in to be restored. What next?
