LR4 jumps to second monitor when collapsing/expanding stacks

I have a Win7 machine, LR 4.4, dual monitors.  My graphics card is a Nvidia Quadro 600.
I am showing the LR on monitor #2 (the non task-bar monitor), and it jumps to monitor #1 whenever I collapse stacks, expand stacks, or move a photo to the top of a stack.
When LR is showing on monitor #1 (the task-bar monitor), stack activity causes LR to resize monentarily, then flash white, and then it stays on the same monitor.
How can I stop this?

I have further experimented and read around, improved the situation but have not been able to fully solve, here is specifically where I am at:
- have observed further problematic symptoms including random ordering of pictures when copying them to albums, crashes when exporting slideshows, etc
- I have performed multiple time the various repair/rebuild options for the library
- also moved back my library from an external drive to the iMac hard drive, and created more space on the hard drive which was quite full (moved iTunes db to the external drive)
- I have also manually degrouped each stack, then re-grouped one by one (I observed a couple of odd behaviours of jumping around on specific stacks while doing this, which tells me that the issue may lie in individually corrupted stacks)
- ended up with a database that was behaving correctly for a while, but then started to exhibit again same symptoms
- at this stage I believe issue may be linked to my system being underpowered (memory leakage): 2007 iMac, 2GB of memory to handle 100GB library. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the new iMac to upgrade and hopefully solve...
Curious about similarities / differences on your side?

  • Lightroom 5.4 jumps to second monitor when attempting to edit an image in Photoshop CS 6.

    Hello,
I have a brand-new HP z620 with an Nvidia Quadro K 4000 display adapter and apparently a software and/or hardware conflict.
I am experiencing an issue with Lightroom 5.4 window not working correctly with my second, not primary, monitor. When Lightroom is working on the second monitor and I need to edit an image in Photoshop cs6, I want Lightroom stay where it is and Photoshop to open on my primary monitor. And this has worked well for me on my previous system which was also a Windows 7 64-bit machine with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 570.
When I click the Lightroom option to "edit in Photoshop CS 6” The Lightroom window will move itself to the primary monitor for no apparent reason. This is the problem I am seeking to remedy.
No other external editing programs opened through LR behaves this way, such as NIK or OnOne Perfect Photo Suite, and I really need LR to stay on the second monitor on the extended desktop.
I’ve tried every monitor cabling setup I could think of to try and even unplugging the primary to make windows identify it as the 2 monitor in the screen resolution settings, but that does nothing for me. My new workstation is running the same OS version and a K4000. Monitors are currently connected to the display ports via dp to dvi adapters. I’ve already tried moving the connections around and plugging one into dvi, there doesn’t seem to be a setting I can change within windows or adobe to change this behavior.”
On a related note, I have similar instability in software made by X-rite that supports the use of a colorimeter allowing me to build profiles for monitors and evaluate colors precisely. During the profiling process I place the colorimeter in the designated place on the secondary monitor and direct the application to begin showing the colorimeter different colors on that monitor. At this point the colors jump to the primary monitor while the rest of the interface along with the colorimeter is a secondary monitor. I have a workaround that I'm using for this particular problem but I am fairly sure that the issue that causes the problem with Lightroom is also the source of my trouble here and I need to eliminate it.
    thanks for your time,

  • How do I use my second monitor when first monitor in full screen??

HI.  I just added a second monitor to my mac mini lion setup and when I go full screen with an app I can't use the other monitor.  How do I fix this?  Thanks.

    Bump?

  • Premiere 5.5 taking over Second Monitor when minimized

I am using a second monitor as an HD Fullscreen preview for Premiere 5.5. It has this annoying habit of taking over the second monitor (whatever frame I happened to be parked on) while the program is minimized. The only way to get back cotnrol of the monitor is to maximize then send to the background again. This is very annoying when you are operating back and forth between Pr and Ae or trying to do anything else on the second monitor.
It seems to happen when it auto saves (which I have set at 5 minutes.. Yeah, I'm paranoid). I have the "Disable video output when in background" button selected, so what gives? This is the second Premiere 5.5 set-up I've had with this issue.
    Thanks for any feedback!
And yes, the fullscreen video preview popped up THREE times while I was composing this message.

Then download this Intel driver and install first. Then run the Nvidia driver after restart.
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3319&DwnldID=23377&ProductF amily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%c2% ae+Core%e2%84%a2+Processors+with+Intel%c2%ae+HD+Graphics+3000%2f2000&DownloadType=Drivers& OSFullname=Windows+7+(64-bit)*&lang=eng
Once you have that done open the Nvidia control panel on Restart. Select manage 3D settings. See if you see a Preferred GPU or Graphics card drop down on the right. If so select the Nvidia or performance option. I forget what is exactly said there. That is the Optimus control and will make sure the Nvidia GPU is used most often. That keeps the anomalies you are getting now when the video is switching to the Intel Adapter when you minimize Adobe. If that doesnt work then there may not be a fix for this beyond disabling the Intel adapter.

  • Disable second monitor when not in use

Topic says it....I'm using SwitchResX and for the most part it works ok...I have a second monitor that I use sometimes...I'd like an app that I can just say "disable the second monitor" so that it will not show up in Display Prefs, AND will go into power sleep mode...anyone seen anything like this?  Thanks all.

According to this thread, SwitchResX allows you to do exactly what you're looking for.  It's right on the webpage:
You can disable or deactivate a monitor without having to physically unplug it, allowing you to use a laptop in clamshell mode with external monitor, keyboard and mouse

  • Aperture jumps to wrong picture when working with stacks

    Hello
I am working with stacks on Aperture 3.3 and Mountain Lion.
I experience the following annoying bug:
Each time I take an action on any stack (say adding a picture to the stack, collapsing the stack, extracting a picture from the stack, etc), the action gets completed but the viewer then keeps jumping to another picture in the same event (always the same picture) instead of keeping the cursor on the just acted-upon picture.
This is really annoying, in particular since I am working on a large event with 2,000 pictures and thus each time this happens I have to scroll back through hundreds of pictures to get back to the one where I was working. In effect this renders the stacks functionality useless.
I have tried already the various repair/rebuild options for the library, to no avail...
    Any ideas / pointers?
    Many thanks!
    Alex

  • Ps CC: Color Shift On Second Monitor When Using FullScreen Mode

I have been suffering from a new issue since re-calibrating my external NEC Multisync monitor with an i1 Pro calibrator.
Though colors across the system as a whole are improved over similar calibrations with a SpyderPro4, whenever I use the full-screen mode in Photoshop CC (using the F key), the color shifts radically red.
I have tested the other solutions of disabling graphics processing and OpenGL/OpenCL to no avail.
Some testing has revealed that in full-screen mode the colors most-closely resemble the profile for the connected Macbook Pro Retina.
Is Pshop loading the wrong ICC profile just when switching to Fullscreen? I can usually get the correct profile back if I command-tab to another program and back again, but this is an unnecessary workaround.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Alex

this kind of thing just cannot happen with a high-end Eizo or NEC PA - with these units, there is no video card calibration LUT at all, because it's handled internally in the monitor.
Dag, that's what we expect. But why are the LUTs on the graphics card slightly modified?
The programs Display Profile, Calibration Tester (and Calibration Loader) belong to the GMB ProfileMaker package.
    Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann
    P.S.:
    Perhaps it works like this:
In advance to an actual calibration by ColorNavigator, the program writes these modified values with
equal "deviations" for R,G,B into the graphics card LUTs. Either as a marker or as numerical preparation
for the hi-res correction in the monitor itself.

  • HP Phoenix computer can't detect second monitor

    HI,
I have used this for a while (18 months) on one monitor and wanted to extend the desktop to a second monitor - but the system fails to detect a second monitor when it is plugged in.
It has an AMD Radeon 6850 with two DVi slots - both monitors work as I can swap them over.  But neither the auto detect (HP Catalyst) or the manual detectoption  show up a second monitor.
I have updated the ADM driver, restarted etc etc........ not sure what else to try.  Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Hi MikeJeffries,
I'm sorry to hear about your problem in connecting a second monitor. Here is an article, (assuming you have Windows 8), that may be of help to you: Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8). Let me know if this helps at all. Best of luck to you.

    Hi,
You have to buy USB video card/adapter to connect to a second monitor such as:

  • DISABLING SECOND MONITOR - 5900

Is there any way that I can manage to disable my Second Monitor when selecting an application (game), other than remembering to go to Display properties and close it from there.
I tried Powerstrip but that is really for multiple Graphics Cards rather than Dual Monitor set up.
I used to have a second PCI card but apparently my 460W PSU is insuficient to run this as well as the rest of my Machine

In Mirrored mode, the same resolution must be used for both monitors. If they are too far apart, that sometimes means the external or second monitor stays dark.
System Preferences > Displays ... uncheck     [√] Mirrored.

  • List View filtered by multiple params (one from cookie) - works fine when groups are expanded initially, but hides filtered items when collapsed and then expanded.

    Hello!
I have a page with a list view web part. I am applying multiple filter parameters to it: I have to display documents for all US locations (general) and also filtered view of documents for user's office location. I am setting the user location Cookie and
i have configured webpart with Param to read it. Second filter value is hard-coded (Non-specific location). It all works FINE when i set the list View to expand all groups by default.  The problem starts when I set it to be collapsed from the start:
Collapsed group shows correct number of items to be inside but when i expand it, the 1 extra LOCAL item filtered by {PARAM}  is missing from inside this expanded group. Only items filtered by a "hardcoded text param" are being shown.  And
again - when i change the view and set it to be expanded by default - ALL items are being shown without any problem! Only thing that breaks it - setting of collapsed-expanded for this view groups. nothing else.
Any suggestion on how to work with this thing?
I can't make all groups expanded by default - too many documents, but it only time when it works.
I tried changing view design, other characteristics, but nothing makes it change the behavior so far.
I really want o avoid creating custom "hardcoded" views for each location where location is predefined instead of dynamically read it from cookie. For me it looks like something is connected with PARAM as only these items are affected by this weird
    behavior. Thank you in advance!

    Hi Olga
I have tried the method you have mentioned, but the jquery function is not working to collapse the groups.
I have tried 2 approaches, but none of them is working fully:
    1) Raising the Click event as follows
    for (var i = 0; i < links.length; i++)
                         if (links[i].href == "javascript:" && links[i].onclick.toString().indexOf("ExpCollGroup")
    > -1)
                               links[i].click();
    2) ExpCollGroup()
Please suggest or send the correct method to collapse

  • Crazy crazy crazy! Airport loses internet when second monitor attached!

Can this really be happening? I decided to try using a second monitor attaching via a mini dvi -dvi converter. Several attempts to get it recognised by the iMac without any success. Scoured the internet groups to see that very many (and I mean very many) others had this problem.
Solved it by swapping my dvi-I lead for a dvi-D lead. The difference is that the DVI-I lead has fewer pins than the DVI-D lead and the iMac mini dvi socked supplies a DVI-D signal. Phew!
So--pleased with myself at surmounting this I fired up Final Cut Pro, dragged the canvas window to the second monitor and had to play around with the resolution setting to get a stable playing of the timeline.
Decided to go on online and see if I was alone on this.
    NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!
30 mins later decided to unplug the second monitor (Philips 200) and got back my inet connection.
Tried the routine again and sure enough each time the second monitor was connected I lost the Airport connection!
Is it possible that the proximity of the second monitor fouls the wireless signal?
    Or what?

    Kaybee31 wrote:
So far no one has either claimed the same problem or offered a possible explanation.
As I said this loss of internet connection when 2nd monitor is connected is unbelievably odd.
It sounds like another case of EMI (Electromagnetic interference). I believe this is at the root of all these weird Airport or wireless problems. Interestingly enough many of these anomalies are exhibited on the newer generation Macs. Different materials were used, shielding could have been compromised either for cost cutting or by design error. Regardless I'm sure Apple is aware, unfortunately those who purchased these machines may be in the worse case, left with hard wiring for reliable internet and or network connections.......sorry.....

  • Second monitor goes "blank" when first monitor goes full screen in Mtn Lion.

Hello Apple community. I am using two monitors and when I put a program like iTunes in fullscreen mode (with the arrow symbol in top right) the second monitor displays that grey patchwork and I can't move windows over there.
My question: Is there any setting to change this (so I could have one screen in fullscreen mode and the other screen on the desktop) or is this just the way it is?
    Any info would much appreciated!
    Thanks

It's just the way it is.
BetterTouchTool (free app, in the app store) has a little feature that resizes your windows to full size when you drag them near the top edge and returns them to the previous size when you drag them down again. I find this useful when using two monitors (saves you having to resize them manually).
