LR4 Print Draft PDF Color Problem

Win7 64 Ultimate
LR4
PDF printer is Cute PDF
PDf Reader is Foxit Reader
My sytem is hardware color calibrated
I have printed before in draft mode to PDF and the color output was fine. Recently, when I choose to print to PDF using draft mode, the output creates a red tint to the skin tones. If i print in regular print mode to DF, the problem goes away.
Something has happened to draft mode settings I think, but I can't figure it out. I've already uninstalled Cute PDF printer and reinstaled it. I'm viewing the PDF in Foxit reader for both draft and reglar output to PDF. I haven't changed anything in Foxit reader.
Thanks

What PDF printer driver do you use that performs well when printing in draft?
I only tried CuteFTP. Don't use it myself for my work.
I didn't say it performs well in draft mode. I said the images are oversaturaed with both LR3 and LR4. So, I was wondering what version did you use that worked well.
What does "managed by printer" mean? The reason Ia sk is that the output looks identical whether I choose the printer option or set the profile to sRGB.
It means Lightroom does not manage color, but leaves that for the printer driver to do. CM setting in printer driver are responsible for color management.
As far as I understand, in this mode Lightroom always converts to sRGB and send data printer driver. After that, the printer driver is supposed to convert to printer/papaer native space. So yes, it is what I would expect to get identical results in sRGB and "managed by printer" modes.

  • PDF color problem

PDFs created from Illustrator CS6 (trial version) are showing up black and white instead of holding Pantone colors. Any ideas about why this is happening? I have OS 10.1.6 and Acrobat 10.8.3 installed.

I believe the OP is using Acrobat 10.8.3 to view the file.
Could the problem be on Acrobat's side? I was looking at some art i did for a friend on his computer once and he was viewing it as grayscale  (though he did it on purpose) In acrobat, navigate to:
Tools>print production> convert colors and see if there is a grayscale profile selected or something.

  • LR4 Flash Web Gallery Color Problems

The color space on the selected images appears to be changing when I use the Lightroom flash gallery in the web module of LR4.1. This stays the same when the gallery is uploaded. In previous version of LR I have seen color changes in the web module but they have been corrected (and correct) when the gallery is uploaded to the 'net.
I have read that this was (previously) a problem with the flash gallery specifically becuase it was not colour magaded, but I understood that this had been corrected for LR4. As far as my use is concerned it's actually more problematic now than it has been previously.
    Can anyone offer a solution?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Stephen

I have windows 7 and monitor with a calibrated profile. LR4 flash gallery's displayed are color correct, but the same gallery displayed on a uncalibrated (wide gamut) monitor shows saturated colors. Check your color management in windows 7 if a profile is associated with your monitor. The best color managed web browser for windows is safari for windows next is firefox see also this website http://www.gballard.net/psd/go_live_page_profile/embeddedJPEGprofiles.html

  • Export to PDF color problems with InDesign CC

    Please help.
I am exporting an INDD file to pdf, and certain elements are not translating to the correct color. For example, I have a red box and some cyan type on a postcard, however the red box is showing up black in the pdf and the type is showing up white. Both cmyk swatches. The other cmyk elements are showing up fine.
And the strangest part is that when I was working on this file yesterday, this was not happening.
    Thanks.

How are you viewing the PDF?

  • Printing a PDF Booklet problem

    Hello,
I have a PDF that I would like to print. When I go to my print options, in the lower left I can select "PDF Booklet." I select that option and it looks as though the pages are being compiled. But after a few moments, I get this warning:
The action "PDF Booklet" could not be loaded because it is not Universal. Please ask the developer for a Universal version of the action.
What does this mean, and how can I fix this so I can print my document as a booklet?
    I have Preview version 5.0.3
    Thank you in advance.

  • Problem with colors when print to pdf in FM9

    Hi,
we have some problems with printing colors to pdf with FM9.
The FM document contains (1) eps file with a green box and (2) a rectangle created with FM graphic tools, filled with the same green color values (91/0/60/44)
In FrameMaker the two colors really looks different, but so what, in the PDF both colors (eps) and rectangle got the same correct green color.
Ok, the were different in creation, so they were CMYK and RGB, but your print shop could manage that.
    Now in FM 9:
    (1) If I do a "save as PDF"  and switch OFF "convert CMYK to RGB" the resulting PDF is the same as from FM8 (correct)
    (2) If I print to PDF via distiller and define the job options to "convert all colors to CMYK" the resulting rectangle green is very  different from the eps green.
I tried different job options, the best result was "convert all colors to CMYK", other options just very more ugly.
Does someone of you know a solution for your problem? Help is very appreciated. I could send example files if necessary.
    Thanks in advance.

But we want to use the print option, using the distiller.
    Pia,
this last sentence needs some explanation, I think. Why do you want to use the print option?
Using the print option, you still go the same route as FrameMaker Win always did, which is using the RGB-only Windows postscript driver. Now, with FM9, you have the option to get CMYK colors directly to PDF, as defined, without any color conversion. And it *does* work, as long as you restrict your documents to either CMYK colors or spot colors coming from the FM libraries.
So, again: why do you want to use the print option?
On a sidenote: I'm not sure if I interpret your username correctly, but if you are able to understand German, you'll find some in-depth color tests made with FM9 here: http://www.hilfdirselbst.ch/foren/FM_9_und_Farben_in_PDFs____getestet_P387800.html

  • Problems printing Interactive PDFs built in InDesign CS5

I am having issues printing PDFs that I have exported from InD CS5. I am creating interactivity in InD, such as buttons, click on, roll off, etc. The interactivity works perfectly, however, when I try to print, the PDF, the rollovers print, even though I do not want them to. The rollovers go away once I click through all of the buttons, but I do not want to have to have my client have to click through all buttons first, before successfully printing the PDF without the rollovers.
anyone have any experience with this? or solutions?
    thanks,
    aligori

    @CoGordo4:
If the answer for Peter's question is "yes", I suspect the following:
You export to PDF with the option "Export Layers: All Layers" and you have a layer set to "Show Layer" NOT checked in the Layer Options panel above your graphic with an object that obscures your vector graphic filled with the color of your background. Thus the image will be included in your exported PDF but effectively does not show.
If so, just export with "Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers".
If this is NOT the case then we possibly could circumvent the problem:
Is your placed vector graphic of the file type EPS?
Do you have Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Distiller installed?
If so, try to convert that EPS to PDF using Distiller, preflight it with Acrobat Pro and place the PDF.
If the answer is "no" (you could not see your graphic in Preview mode), some of the following could apply:
    1. The holding frame of the graphic OR the graphic inside the holding frame is marked as "Nonprinting" in the attributes palette (check both instances).
    2. The object is positioned on a layer with "Print Layer" NOT checked in the Layer Options panel and you export with "Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers" in your PDF export settings.

  • Revisit Old Color Problem: PDF export

    Hello,
I found two archived threads about the same problem, but I don't see a real fix aside from a bootstrap.  In Keynote, when I "duplicate" a slide that has certain colors on it and then edit the copy, the exported to PDF has some of the colors changed on the duplicated slide, but not on the original. If the the slides are opened in Preview they look correct, but when opened in other PDF viewers the colors change.
I have an example to show where the bright green changes, but I don't see where I can append it.  The first slide was dupliucated, the text and slide content edited, and then exported ->PDF -> Best.
Do I have to open all of my exports in Preview and then re-save them?  This has been occuring for years.

Alright, this is what has worked for me.
First to answer the question whether to use "Export to pdf" or "Print->PDF->Save as PDF" or "Save as PostScript" – I prefer the "Export" option for one reason: this method is the most accurate when it comes to object coordinates (images, lines, etc) AND custom slide sizes, while saving as PostScript is very cumbersome, especially when it comes to very custom, pixel-based slide sizes.
    Anyway,
    1. I have first exported the keynote presentation to pdf
    2. opened it with Adobe Acrobat X (to witness false colors)
    3. Now go to "Tools->Print Production->Convert Colors"
    4. Ignore options, until the one which says "Output Intent" with a checkbox "Convert Colors to Output Intent". Select the profile "sRGB IEC61966-2.1"
    5. Push OK.
    6. [magic]
    7. Profit
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers,

  • Color problems printing from InDesign CC 2014 (and CC)

When I print an ad I'm working on from InDesign, the color is off by a lot. If I save the doc as a pdf, it prints correctly from the pdf. If I print from the same InDesign doc on another machine, it prints fine. The problem is not only with this document. Using Bridge I have synched the color, restarted the computer, reinstalled InDesign CC 2014, trashed the Preferences—basically I've done everything listed on the InDesign printing troubleshooting page. Since the documents print correctly from another machine (all the settings are the same), I shouldn't have to use a work-around. I can't be making a pdf every time I need to print from InDesign—which is all the time. Any help appreciated.

Are you using the same printer and driver on both machines?

  • Problem with custom book size and print to PDF

I'm trying to create a 20 page 8x8 book which consists of 10 16x10 spreads. In other words, page 1 and page 20 are not start on the right and left respectively, there are exactly 10 16x10 spreads. This is a requirement for KISS wedding books. I am running into two problems:
    1. The album designer seems to be forcing me to have the first page consist of a single 8x8 page, even though the last page can consist of a 2 page spread.
    2. When I do print to PDF, I get 20 8x8 pages. If I change the paper size to 16x8, each 16x8 spread is followed by a single 8x8 repeat of the right side of the previous 16x8 spread. I could live with the 20 8x8 pages if there was an easy way to recombine these as 10 16x8 pages.

PS: Since my edit timed out, I was going to add speculation of a way in
ColorSync to enable or make Filters which could be used to save settings,
at least for color and printer matching schemes, this is supported in PDFs.
    Not sure where I could take up where I left off to write a PS to my own post;
since I had a few links to documents I found by doing some research reading.
These may be related, but perhaps not directly enough to be of help.

{And if you have Acrobat, the retail application, you likely have
several other printing options unavailable to a reader app; in
    that PDF print settings may be encoded into a document.}
In any event, I'm on my way out to talk to that neighbor's dog...

  • PRINT PRODUCTION - CONVERT COLORS - CHANGING LINE WEIGHTS FROM 5 PT TO 1 PT - BIG PROBLEM

I've had three jobs in the past months from customers.  Most are created in Indesign with a variety of graphics and illustraitions (Illustrator).
When I made a PDF and use the PRINT PRODUCTION ==> CONVERT COLORS ==. CONVERT COLORS TO OUTPUT INTENT and SELECT PRESERVE BLACK some of the lines change.
    1) Today a customer usinged 5pt stroked curved lines created in Indesign in the background of a page.  Acrobat saw them as 5 pt and when I used the workflow above changed them to 1 pt.
    2) Another example:  a circle was drawn in Illustrator, stroked with 7 pt stroke.  The graphic imported into INDESIGN.  I exported to PDF and ran the above workflow and it changed the stroke to 1.
    3) Another example:  A customer created a honeycomb in Illustrator with a .25 pt stroke, imported graphic into page in INDESIGN. I exported to PDF and ran the above workflow and it changed the stroke to 1.
I use this workflow to change all colors from graphics to CMYK.
    Why is changing line weights?

Oops!! Not until now I discover that under 'Solutions' I happened to write 'untick' where it should be 'tick'! I.e, colors SHOULD be converted to RGB in order to circumvent the problems! I.e it runs havoc in v9 when CMYK colors are NOT converted to RGB! Don't know how I came to write the opposite, but probably I started out by describing the situation where the problems are seen rather than describing how to avoid them.
Equally strange is that nobody corrected me, but perhaps the mistake was so obvious? (But whether you see problems or not might depend on what fonts you use. So, under certain special circumstances, CMYK might actually work without these reported problems.)
I am also a bit surprised that others haven't reported the issue that the PDF version set in PDF job Options isn't respected when using 'Save As PDF' and Acrobat 9? (Or maybe someone has, but I have missed it.)

  • Print to PDF from Word 2011 creates problems at section breaks

I have a user trying to create a pdf of his thesis. He created the thesis on Microsoft Word 2011 for Mac, and we use Acrobat 10. It has a number of section breaks where he switches from portrait to landscape and back. When he tries to print to PDF, not only does the thesis get split into an individual document at each section break (annoying, but not a big issue), but when he tries to reassemble the document there is an adjustment in margin and several extra lines of space at the top of each section. I've seen workarounds such as opening the individual sections in Preview and stitching them together that way, but it still leaves the extra space at the beginning of each section break, as well as the adjustment in margin. Has anyone found a workaround for this?
    Thank you!

I had the same problem with a Word document and figured out the problem. Word seems to be spitting out separate PDF documents based on the page setup. So under File -> Page Setup you get a dialog box with the settings for the page, and usually a "Format for" dropdown and a "Paper Size" option. If these setting are not the same for the whole document, Word throws a wobbley and generates a PDF for each page setup.
My solution (works where all of the pages are the same format).
    File -> Page Setup
Settings: Choose "Microsoft Word" from the dropdown box
Apply Page Setup settings to: Entire Document.
This will setup up the entire document to use the same page settings, and will fix the problem for those of us who are wanting a document that all has the same page settings. (This won't work if you are mixing page sizes.)

  • I can not print a PDF from a HP Photosmart Plus B210A.  HP says its is a Adobe problem and Adoble says it is not there problem

I am unable to print a PDF file from a HP Photosmart Plus B210a.  I contacted HP and they say because the printer does print word docs etc. the printer cannot be the cause of the problem.  This is from the Top Level Support team.  When contacting Adobe, they say that not being able to print their PDF files is not there problem but HP's.
Another call to HP and they now say it is Apple's problem.
I am in the middle and still can't print a PDF file.  When trying to do so, it doesn't print and I receive no error messages.  Just nothing.  My serial number is

Does anyone have a suggestion, or do I just throw out HP?
    Thanks, Bob L.

Try opening the PDF in Preview and see if it will print out of it.
