LR4 referencing wrong image

Working in the library in the loupe mode I click on an image, in this case a video, in the filmstrip at the bottom and the image that comes up in the loupe is one from a different folder that I had selected some time ago.  If I click on a jpeg it comes up in the main viewing window but when I click back on another, even different, video that same video clip from the other folder comes up.  I restart LR4 and it works for a bit then does it again.  I only seems to happen on video clips.

Hello Ed,
With new IOS version you will see microcode getting updated which will take 30-45 minutes when switch booted first time but switch will take normal time to boot afterwards. Actually, The switches have a small MCU(MicroController Unit) to offload processing of some of the hardware interfaces like POE , Fan, power supply etc. (the actual details vary by SKU).Programming front end
microcode should only happen once when upgrading to a higher version with newer microcode.
So Lets wait once switch booted with wrong IOS, then change the IOS image.
Let me know if that works and rate the reply.

  • Wrong image preview while I am moving adjustment sliders in Aperture

When I move adjustment sliders, a different recently and previosly adjusted image will frequently show in the viewer while the slider is being moved.  Sometimes parts of two or more previous images will appear and sometimes in the wrong orientation. This makes it makes it impossible to see the result of the adjustment until I release the slider which is annoying.  I cannot reliably replicate the problem but it happens often.  It seems random as if the wrong image is in a cache and not refreshing properly.
    Details:
    MacPro (New) 6-core 32GB RAM, D300 Graphics OS X
    Aperture 3.5.1
Moved Library from old machine (2007 MacPro) and rebuilt library
    250K images all referenced
    Library is big (236GB)
Files are RAW Canon 5dMk3 and tend to be about 30MB
    Preferences:
    Import: standard previews
Previews: generate automatically and share when quitting (half size medium quality)
library created new previews for all images when I rebuilt it
machine will run processor and memory hard, sometimes around 90%
Might it be a poor choice of preference settings or a corrupt library?  Anyone else ever experience this condition?  I would appreciate any suggestions.

On a conceptual level, it should not be a problem, but a Preview is related to a Version, and a Version is related to one Original/Master.  There can be multiple Versions, all of which must point to a single Original.
You are not adjusting a Preview, but rather a Version.  What you see as you adjust is a new rendering of the Version, and is not the Preview you saw when you decided to adjust, I believe.
There are on the order of 8 or 9 other files related to every Original even if only one Version in the Package that is the Library. Very complex indexing going on at all times.
Please open an image, and before attempting to adjust, click on File, and choose Show in Finder -- is the Finder image the correct one?  And in the correct location?
Now attempt to adjust.  Does the image change?  If so, again us Show in Finder and check.

  • Wrong images appearing in project window / timeline

I'm doing a SIMPLE slideshow project for a frient. I've got a file folder of images that I imported into CS5. In the timeline the correct images are not appearing when placed from the timeline. Even in the Project folder most of the images are not what they are in explorer. Most, when opened in the Source Monitor are the correct image, even though the wrong image is appearing on the timeline, but even there many are not correct. What is happening is that the image of about 15 of the 105 imported images are appearing in the place of all of the other images. It's like something is cached, and the appropriate linkages aren't being made.
What's even more frustrating is that the ONLY effect applied to all of the impages is Scale to Frame. There are no transistion. Nothing.
What simple solution is there for images not importing into CS5 correctly?
    ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that suggestion.  It DOES work!  However, it is time consuming since I'm working with over 1,000 images.  Instead, I was able to discover the following solution:
The culprit was the magic checkbox under Edit -> Preferences -> Media for "Write XMP ID to Files on Import."  This setting writes a GUID to all media imported into Premiere for use with all Adobe apps.  I actually found the reference to it in an After Effects forum.  I didn't fully understand exactly why this is useful when I'm only working with still images.  My guess is that somehow these GUIDs became crossed over.
I disabled this checkbox, deleted all references to the affected media, and deleted all cache files, including all files under C:\Users\Username\AppData\Adobe\Common\Media Cache.  I then reimported the originals of my source files from my network attached storage (SO thankful that I moved them offline without touching them).  Viola!  Everything works.
It was critical that I made copies of all of my data to my NAS.  Adobe actually writes this GUID for the XMP ID to the file itself, which changes the modification date of the actual file.  So, I guess the error will follow the file wherever it goes (in an Adobe application) unless it's resaved in PhotoShop to correct the error.  Luckily, the files on my NAS were untouched by Adobe, since I made copies to work with locally.  Only the local files were affected.  Once I disabled the checkbox, then Adobe no longer attempts to modify files on import and leaves them intact.

  • Lightroom 2.7 exporting the wrong images

Hi. I've been using Lightroom since the first beta, currently running LR2.7 on a MacBook Pro. I installed the new CS5 (Web Premium suite) a little more than a week ago, and I'm suddenly having problems exporting images to JPEG from Lightroom.
Images import and edit correctly, look great, nothing gives me an error message. But when I try to export a single image, the first instance (after I've launched the application) will export correctly. After that, there seems to be about a 70% chance that subsequent attempts will export the wrong image. The file is correctly named, but the image will be a duplicate of the last successful export.
If I try to export a batch of four or five, the first image will usually export correctly, sometimes the last image will export correctly, but anything in between will be a duplicate of either a previous export, or the first image.
I assumed it was a memory issue, shut down the Mac and restarted, then opened Lightroom as the only active application. Same thing happened. I can export correctly in other applications such as Photoshop and Flash, but Lightroom won't. Activity Monitor doesn't show anything out of line for memory usage.
When the problem started happening I was running 2.6; I upgraded to 2.7 to see if that would fix it--it doesn't.
Any ideas? I'd rather not delete and reinstall Lightroom and rebuild my libraries if I can avoid it, especially if that might not solve the problem.
    Help!
    Thanks--
    --cynthia

Hmmmm. I've tried various naming conventions and I'm still looking for consistency in the way the error occurs--could have something to do with naming presets, but it's acting like something gets stuck in the cache. What puzzles me is that I export files daily, haven't changed cameras, cards, file locations, my workflow is the same, and I've never had this problem. The only thing that's changed (that I'm aware of) is the installation of CS5--the error seems to have started when I started using "Edit in Photoshop." (And again, that was never a problem before)
The files all have different names, the ones assigned by the cameras.
This morning I rebooted, didn't launch any of the CS5 apps. Launched Lightroom, chose 7 files at random and exported them with the "filename" preset. They exported correctly. I selected them again, and tried another export, this time giving them a custom name, and they exported correctly with a sequence number attached. Tried them with "Custom Name-Sequence," and they worked again. I exported a single file with the same preset, again it exported correctly.
Then I switched folders, selected 7 different images and exported them with a new "Custom Name-sequence," and this time Lightroom exported EIGHT files. The sixth was the previously-exported single-file, so the exporter had gotten the first 5 right, inserted the old file in the sixth position, and then correctly exported the last two.
Three more tests exported everything correctly, which is far fewer errors than yesterday. I'm kinda stumped.

  • Bug: InDesign exports completely wrong images

    Hey,
when I export my EPUB, InDesign inserts wrong images into the HTML.
I have a multi-artboard Illustrator file that is placed in the document. Every chapter has an image in front of it, every image is an artboard in the .ai.
When I export to EPUB, some artboards are correctly inserted, while one repeats multiple times in a few chapters completely randomly. It has appear only once, but InDesign inserts it many times. What is happening there?
    Best regards
    Andre

    Hi,
Are you using Articles Panel for reading order? If yes, then I think same image must be present multiple times in your article though in InDesign document it must be appearing only once. If you are not using articles panel, let me know. Will try to figure out why this problem is happening.

  • How can I possible lose my entire photo library/ referenced master image file if I have downloaded all my images directly onto Aperture?

How can I possible lose my entire photo library/ referenced master image file if I have downloaded all my images directly onto Aperture?

CeliaJane, you need to distinguish between the Aperture Library and the Aperture Application.
Aperture stores your images in a database, and it is this database that we have to find and probably to repair, not the application (hopefully). And since you do not see any images, I suspect that Aperture created a new, empty Aperture Library, and you are now viewing this empty library. Usully the library sits in your Pictures fiolder.
Look into your Pictures folder, if you see a file with a colorful icon with three pictures, called something.aplibrary, as shown above. And also enter ".applibrary" into the "Spotlight" searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. If you have more than one Library, you should be able to find them this way.
The largest file you find will probably be the correct library.
When you have found the correct file called aperturexxxx.aplibrary, try to open it in "First Aid" mode.
Select the Library and press down "command" and "option" key at the same time, while you double click the library.
Now the First Aid dialogue should appear:
Select: Repair Permissions" and see if you can open the Library again. If it did not help, try the other two options in turn.

  • LR 5 - Image Sizing Dimensions - wrong image size

    Hi,
Image Sizing Dimensions produces wrong image sizes upon export for certain images.
Example, I have export set up for iPad resolution, 2048x1536px at 264ppi. If I now export an 3264x4928px image it should be resized to 1356x2048px. What I get is 1356x2047 instead, one pixel too short on the long side. This doesn't happen for all images source resolutions and ratios though. I haven't figured out the pattern yet.
Here a link to an image which exports at wrong size (export dimension set to 2048x1536px).
    http://www.bobtronic.com/files/IMG_0289.JPG
I would appreciate a speedy fix for this problem. Thanks
    cheers,
    Matthias

The image has a resolution of 3264x4928. Exporting using Dimension resizing of 2048x1536 results in an 2047x1536 image.
The scaling factor 4928 down to 2048, is 0.4155844155844156...
Assuming that LR is working to only 3 decimal places here, which indications discussed in another thread would suggest, then there are several ways to achieve that:
truncate down to 0.415 by discarding the subsequent digits
"quick-rounding" of the third digit by inspecting the fourth-place digit only, and incrementing the third-place digit when the fourth-place digit is larger than 5, which it is not in this case, resulting in 0.415
"math-rounding" by inspecting all of the following digit pairs in turn, until you reach a pair that is lower than 50, and then working back again to simplify. This procedure rounds 0.41558 up to 0.4156, then after doing that, rounds 0,4156 up to 0.416
Speculation: the difference between 0.415 and 0.416, is the difference between a result with 2047, and one with 2048, when executed.
Most of the time the "quick-round" procedure will work out fine, also truncating will usually be good enough, assuming the above has anything to do with the reality (which it may not). Just occasionally, though, there'll be an error in the final digit, compared with what the theoretically accurate procedure would have given. So if I am right this is not strictly speaking a bug (something failing to execute as it has been designed to do), but the result of a software design choice. "Works as designed", iow .
It seems that LR, perhaps differently between versions, is working this through by simple calculation (from the front-end), without comparing the back-end outcome against what you have requested. How much this (intermittent) issue actually matters, is a question of judgement, and of particular requirement.
[ alternative method: I find the Print module, outputting to JPG, is completely reliable when it comes to making a standardised JPG as to the dimensions, as well as offering some different technical and design options, than what you get with Export. For one thing, you get the option of on-the-fly cropping to shape, which you can then adjust interactively where (as here) the image is a different aspect than the Retina display. So if you want it, you can fill the screen instead of getting letterbox, all without having altered your main (Develop) crop for that image. Alternatively, if you don't want the Zoom to Fill option (e.g. with landscape images to be shown in portrait orientation as part of a sequence) you can still make all your images to the same dimension, but controlling the appearance of the borders that are left (which become part of the image) ]
    RP
ps: AFAICT one would expect simple truncation to produce the appropriate answer half of the time; one would expect simple rounding to just one further digit, to be wrong half of the times when the following digit happened to be 5 - or to put in another way, to be right in 95% of cases; and proper rounding, examinng as many places as it takes, to be right 100% (within precision limits).

Usually, this means ether you've got the wrong bios image (hmmm...toshiba led me to it...so maybe it's wrong...but readme says it's ok) OR the download was corrupt. Re-Downed the entire set up file again (file name as mentioned above) and tried again. All disk work on my master workstation which is almost always correct. (except when it's not?)

  • Wrong images displaying

In my slideshows, and other image boxes, often times the wrong image will display.  It displays an image from another area of my website.  When this happens, it stretches the incorrect image to fit it into whatever aspect ratio the original image was supposed to be.
Right now the issue can be seen on http://www.williamvanbeckum.com/blog.html
The image being displayed is supposed to be square, but is being stretched.  The image that is supposed to be there is a rectangular horizontal image.

CS4 needs a good video card and the latest drivers to work well.  More details on what are you using would be helpful to narrow the problem down.

  • Wlc wrong image dowload

    Good morning,
We have a customer with a 5508 controller running 7.4.110.0.  It has a backup image of 7.2.111.3.
When we added a 1242 access point to it recently the access point was offered the wrong image version: it was offered and downloaded 7.2.111.3 instead of 7.4.110.0. Naturally it downloaded and installed this version and rebooted - and then found that it had the wrong image version for the running image, so downloaded a new image...7.2.111.3 again...
When we connected the AP to a sister WLC it was offered the correct 7.4.110.0 image, downloaded it and after a reboot we could connect it fine to the original WLC.
Has anyone seen anything like this before or can anyone suggest why this might be.  I've attached the show boot from the WLC.
    Thanks in advance

    Robin,
Can you show the output of show ap image all
Also, can you try to join it again with debug lwapp events enable and show the output?

  • Rejecting images via keyboard shortcuts rejects wrong images

    Hello,
It is possible that I am doing something wrong. I am reviewing many images, and I am using alt-del to reject some. Behavior seems wonky:
    - sometimes alt-del marks a message as 'rejected', and that's it
    - sometimes alt-del marks a message as 'rejected' and thumbnail auto-advances
    - and finally, the biggest problem, sometimes alt-del marks the wrong image (typically few images ahead)
    This is in 6.0.1.6 x64
Am I doing something weird, or is this a real (known?) problem?
    Thanks

Thanks. I was reviewing in the grid. This does not seem to be happening, now that I got rid of the cache.
