LR4 saving CS6 edit in a separate LR Ghost folder

Ladies & Gents,
If anyone has an answer to my problem I would appreciate it. For the record I have searched forums here and other places on the web and have found similar problems but not quite the same.
When I right click > edit in CS6 go to photo shop after completing my work I click "save" (not save as) the photo is saved back to light room showing as a separate photo but in a separate folder in LR. In finder the file saves back to the same folder as the original file. The file should show as a separate image but the folder should be the same. This was working fine until the last few days.
Interestingly if I try to drag the file in LR4 from the new "Ghost folder" to the original LR recognizes that the image is already in the same directory in finder and will not allow the move.
Needless to say this is infuriating, I can move the file in finder delete the record in LR and then re-import back to the correct folder. This work around is annoying and I would rather be moving on and editing the next image! Have also tried a reinstall of LR with no result.
Has anyone encountered this issue and/or have a solution? I would be grateful.
James.
You can see the "ghost folder" here which is created after clicking CMD-S(Save not save as). Perhaps this started after I created the Iphone Photos folder, I have been unable to think of anything else in my workflow that changed recently.
Version info:
LR 4.4 CS6 V13.0.6 X64 Mac OSX 10.9.3

For anyone who has the same issue I seem to have found my own solution which has worked well.
These were the steps:
1. Shut down LR
2. Move folders in finder to a new location
3. Open LR
4. Right click on moved images folders and select the new folder location
This seems to have solved the Singular and most curious case of the Ghost folders!
James.

  • Saved PS3 Edits Not Showing Up In Own Folder

    Currently running LR2.1 & CS3(PS10.0.1) & ACR4.6, Windows XP.
Just upgraded to LR 2.1 today and found that when I Edit in Photoshop and then Save the file, Lightroom no longer creates that subfolder with only the Edit.psd file in there.
Prior to this, I was able to make edits in LR, then edit in PS, then save the image. Lightroom then creates a folder (in LR) for me that contains only the edited PSD images. It was great to have that folder containing only the final edited files that have been processed thru LR + PS. I didn't even have to set that up, just came as is from 2.0.
Now that 2.1 is installed, the images are being saved but lumped together along with all the originals + unfiltered images in its original folder (like back in the LR 1.0 days).
Can anyone help or is anyone experiencing the same issue?
    Thanks!

Figured it out...Went under "File > Import > Movies" in iDVD. The movies showed up when I did that. Still don't understand why they don't show up under "Media." Everything worked beautifully after that.

  • LR4 / PS CS6 no image

This was all working prior to upgrading to CS6.....  but now when I right click on an image in LR4 and choose "Edit In" --> Photoshop CS6 then Photoshop CS6 launches but the image never appears.
It all seems correctly configured in the Preferences, but there is no additional image being stacked with the original either.
    Any ideas?

It doesn't stack the images like it used to with CS5 at first, nor does it ask me if i want to edit the original or the edited with LR changes. It opens a raw file with LR edits applied to it, even cloning and adjustment brush changes. Once you edit something in PS and save it, it will save it using what ever preference you selected, and then it will add a new file to LR and stack it together with the original. its a little weird but it works and thats all i care about
What you describe is normal behaviour for LR - it's working exactly as it should do.
You would only get a prompt to edit original, edit copy, etc if the file you tried to open in an external editor (PS) wasn't a raw file (e.g. if you tried to open a TIFF or JPEG), otherwise it opens directly into PS (having being rendered first using ACR but using the settings you applied in the LR develop module) without the need to save and stack an image first. The reason it was working differently in CS5 is because the two weren't directly compatible, so LR had to render an image before passing it over to PS, hence it giving you the "edit original" message, immediatley appearing in the catalogue, and being stacked with the original before you actually did anything in PS. Hope this makes sense!

  • Metadata Conflicts between LR4 and CS6

I recently upgraded to LR4 and CS6 Extended.  I will offer start in LR4 but switch to CS6 for additional editing.  On some of my thumbnails, I will see a "!" in the upper right hand corner on the thumbnails.  When I click on the icon, a pop-up window appear stating a Metadata conflict has occurred.  The pop-up window gives you two options: Copy file data into the catalog or have the catalog overwrite the file data.  What is the best thing to do knowing you are only working between LR4 and CS6?

This is a known issue with the latest PS update. Refer to the pertinent thread on the PS forum.

  • Adobe Bridge saving my edited files in an 'unknown format' - Losing my work

When I edit an image in Photoshop through Adobe Bridge and save it as a jpeg, it is not saving as selected. Instead, it is saving the edited image in an 'unknown' and unusable format. I loose  my editing work. I discovered this doesn't happen if I save the image in a new folder but I would still like to fix this problem; I've been editing for two years without this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it?

Adobe Bridge does not "save", open or edit anything other than the metadata.  The files are saved by whatever application hands them  to them, whether that be Photoshop, Camera Raw, Illustrator, MS Word or whatever.
If files are being lost in just one folder, you have corruption in that particular folder.  The first step is to go to the Tools menu in Bridge, and run the "Purge Cache for Folder 'xxxxyyy'"  command.  The next step is to create a brand new folder, not inside the corrupted one, and move all your files there.
You should also run Apple's Disk Utility to Repair the Disk and to Repair Permissions for your disk.
Next time, please provide details about your setup.

  • Iphoto 11 Not saving photo edits

    Iphoto Version 9.4.3
    OSX 10.7.5, Build 11G63, Serial # W872101JVUX
    3 GB SDRAM
Have had many problems since switching to Iphoto 11, this is just the latest. This week I added 5 Jpeg photo's to a library and edited them. When I finished I returned to the library and noticed they didn't look as good as they had while editing them. I returned to editing in the info section and indeed it looked like most of the editing had not been saved. I then moved to the editing section and the photo's still looked bad but after 5 -10 seconds the edits reappeared and the photo's looked as good as I expected. I then returned to the library (saving the edits) and again they look bad. These photo's were scanned to a desktop folder then imported to an iphoto library from there as is my normal procedure. I have used all the "Rebuild Library" choices which did not help. I do not ever make any changes to the libraries except through Iphoto.
I would like to concentrate on this problem now of course, but just for your information the other main problem I have fairly often is very slow editing with spinning balls. This is usually made acceptable by spending a lot of time "Rebuilding Library". I thought about reinstalling Iphoto but 9.4.3 is no longer available through the app store where I purchased it and my computer cannot upgrade any further.
I'm almost hoping that you tell me my computer isn't adequate and this will solve my problems as at least I can stop fighting with Iphoto. I will also say that otherwise the computer works fine and I have no problems with other programs.
Thanks for any help in advance

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Saving RAW edits as JPEG - is it okay if...?

Just wanted to get some expert opinion on whether saving RAW edits as JPEG is advisable.
I understand that every time you save a JPEG, there is some loss/degradation, whereas TIFF is loss less. However, given the huge size of TIFF tiles, my thinking is that saving them as JPEG is okay as long as if I want to make subsequent edits, I revert to the original (RAW) and re-do the edits.
Is there any downside to this logic?

iPhoto does not keep resaving the same JPG over and over. Instead it applies the new edits to the original file and recreates a new JPG. So no matter how many times you edit the file, you are only one generation removed from the RAW file.
iPhoto keeps tracks of your edits in a list and reapplies them when you open the file to view.

  • LR4 to CS6 not opening image.

Right clicking on image in LR4, then selecting open with CS6.  CS6 program starts fine, but no image?  If I select CS5, it works fine.
Also, I tried a workaround, by exporting the file to my desktop (DNG).  Right clicking on the image, and selecting CS6, again will not open the image?  If I open CS6, then Menu>file>open, all files are greyed out until I select "all documents" in the enable menu?

    Thanks for support.
My posting is based on my experience with my main computer (MAC tower pro) at home.  but I also have a mac book pro that i use for work/travel.  this also has CS5, LR4 and CS6, and when i tested this when I got in the office this mornig, it worked fine - no problems.
i think when I get home this evening, i'll r-install CS6 and see if that works.  for the record, my macbook is running:
    LR4.1RC with CR7.0
    CS5 12.0.4 with CR 6.6.0.261
    CS6 13.0 with CR 7.0.0.308

  • IPhoto not saving simple edits

I have been using this current version of iPhoto for several weeks with no problems. Yesterday, it stopped saving simple edits even after hitting the done button. For example, I would crop a photo, click done, move onto the next photo and the previous edit would just disappear. It won't save simple enhancements or more complex adjustments either.
I am using iPhoto '11, version 9.2.3. There are no further updates available. I have not added any new software to my computer. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be welcome!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • Original picture changed while saving the edited one

    Hi,
I am an absolute beginner using Camera Raw.
I just edit a picture in Camera Raw 5.7. When I was finished I saved the edited picture using a new name. Unfortunatly the original picture has also changed. So now I have two identical edited pictures with different names but the original picture is gone. How can I keep the original?
    Regards, Nicole

The original image is still there...it's just had processing parameters added to the raw file. If you really don't want them you can either go into Bridge, Edit, Develop Settings and hit clear. But if you do that you will loose all the work you put into making the adjustments...you might be better off going back into Camera Raw and create a snapshot of the settings them you can reset the image to it's default settings...

  • Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system and mov files

We have just installed a new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system with a HP 820Z (running windows 7) 18 core multi drive system.  Our production company has used many mov. files from Ponds.  We were a FCP 7.0 studio (still have the system) but the mov files won't import to our new CS6 System...  Not trying to import from the mac...have them stored on another PC.  We depend on this stock footage for production. Do I need to download a converter?  I just had to produce two spots with a still background because I could not get any of our stock mov files to work...
    Thanks much for any help!

PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first...

None of my pictures that I uploaded into iPhoto are in my Finder under Pictures.  Should I copy and paste my folders from iPhoto into here, in case something happens to my iPhoto program (in addition to backing them up onto an external hard drive like I already do)?
No, that's just wasting space.  A back up needs to be on a different disk.
Your photos are within the iPhoto Library.
