LR4 Unuseable Having to use LR3

LR4 Very Very Slow. Everything takes an age to apply. Nothing happens in real time as was the case Lightroom 3. Not Responding message seems to be permantely on. What has happened?

Okay, I'm using LR4 on my Core-i5 dual-core 13" laptop running an external 24" monitor, and it's nowhere near seconds. Perhaps 200ms or so between frames.
A couple of things to try - turn off lens profile corrections and turn off auto CA correction.

I'm sorry to hear your screen is cracked spence425. I know its difficult to use the phone while its damaged. I'm happy you are receiving a replacement device. Unfortunately, you will be unable to remove any data from the phone if the screen is unresponsive but if you are looking to transfer data to your new phone, it would have needed to be saved via the cloud first. My wife has a laptop and an iphone 4s, I have a laptop and and iphone 4s, our two sons have our old iphone 3s, we have an old laptop for our sons to use. Our old iphones for our sons are deactivated as phones - so they are used as i-touches for songs, pictures and aps. I want to use icloud (which I'm new to) to hopefully have all four iphones and all three computers stay synced with at least music - if not aps and pictures. My wife has an apple ID and I have one. I'd like to authorize all three laptops for both apple IDs so that we will still have our own accounts, but everything either of us buys will be automatically loaded into all three laptops and all four iphones. Can this be done?

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

Making a new Apple ID was the worst thing you could of done. This is very bad to do. Not sure why people do that. Your Apple ID is Your Apple ID. You only need one and it is best to only have one Apple ID for all apple devices.

Is there any way to get around having to use iDVD to export FCE to DVD?
I've been trying to burn a FCE2 sequence to DVD. A friend of mine told me all I had to do was put a blank DVD in, click on the icon on the desk top, export the sequence to Quicktime and drag the QT sequennce into the DVD icon and click burn.
Well something happened! But there's nothing on the DVD!! What am I doing wrong? I loathe iDVD. i don't want to author. I just want to burn the project on a DVD. Please advise. Thanks.

If you export a sequence at full resolution to can burn it onto a DVD as a data DVD, but this is for transportation purposes only. At full resolution the DVD, especially as it fills up, will not have sufficient throughput to sustain good playback of the material. That's why the material is encoded into MPEG-2 for DVD authoring. If you want to make a DVD for set-top playback it has to be authored to include the DVD format structure. There is no way around that. If you don't like iDVD, take a look at Final Cut Studio, you might prefer DVD Studio Pro. Or you might what to look at Roxio's Toast. It has basic authoring capabilities. Personally I don't think direct playback hardware solutions (except for seriously expensive ones) produce acceptable quality, but that's just me.

Unfortunately, I have a very similar problem. Since I upgraded to os 5.1 on my new iPhone 4S the reminders screen will not add new reminders or scroll up and down. What's more strange is the screen will still scroll side to side allowing access to the Completed list, and both the Completed list and Date functions work normally so this must be an upgrades glitch.

LoadMovie without having to use full path/URL

I've always used loadMovie to call external swf files from a
main/menu swf file, but it seems that some new security settings
and restrictions, I'm not able to do this anymore - at least not
online. All my swf files are in the same directory, and when I play
the swf locally, it loads all the external swfs without a problem.
I tried changing the path to my swf in the loadMovie command
to the pull path on the server, and this worked. The problem is, I
have to hand off my website to another company, and it will go
through many rounds of testing (and servers) before eventually
going online. Is there any way to avoid having to use the full
path/domain in the loadMovie command for a situation like this
where the domain/path will change?

Can you use Crystal Reports on a webpage without having to use session?

In all of the examples I have seen it shows using the session to store the reportdocument object between postbacks. That means that clicking the page buttons fires a postback. Other reporting tools such as PDF, ActiveReports, and others do not have to do this. Is this a limitation of Crystal and a COM backend or is it just a common sample and not the only option?
How do you get paging to work without having to use session and do postbacks? AJAX, Javascript, converting to a PDF, etc. would all be possible ways to not require a postback.
My problem is that I am using SQL Server to store the session and the reportdocument object is not serializeable. I have been told I can buy Crystal Report Server for $5000 and this will work. But in reality I can buy other reporting tool for $500 or convert them to SQL Reporting and it will work as well. So I am trying to be reasonable and figure out what I need to do. That seems like a bit much to need a whole server application to serve the reports just to turn on paging for a couple of simple reports. I'm hoping there is a way to not use session to get paging to work.
I have consider pushing the report into viewstate and not session. But I would rather not push it into either. Is this a valid option?
What is the typical way to handle this sort of thing? Do you really have to push it into session to get the CrystalReportViewer control to page on an ASPX page. What other options are there?
Any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas would be very much appreciated. This is causing enough of a problem where the company is asking me to look at alternatives if we cannot solve this.

Acrobat doesnu2019t cause postbacks when paging because the acrobat reader installed locally, so its viewing is in a client-side control. I imagine the same thing is the case for ActiveReports (some sort of client-side activex control installed).
If the winform viewer was used on in your web page, then you wouldnu2019t get postbacks either, but then you'd need Crystal Reports runtime on the client to view in that control. And placing a winviewer in a web page give me shivers...
So, to avoid using session, recreate the reportdocument and re-load the report on postbacks.
As Surabh mentioned, you can serialize the report but you will have to use teh InProc RAS. There is an issue thought; you start to get load errors and otehr errors after viewing 3 reports. I belive this has been reported to R&D for a fix comment, but I do not have and ETA at this time. The code for the InProc RAS SDK would be as follows:

I'm having trouble using or uninstalling Adobe Reader, i get a message when the programme has been anitiated which says Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close, i went on to Adobe's website and it said try uninstalling Adobe Reader and then re-install it as this sometimes works, i tried un-installing it from the Add or Remove programme but that didn't work either as i got another message telling me that the patch package could not be verified and to make sure i have permission.

No such app exisits or can exist. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to access core functions of the phone. Time to get your phone replaced or repaired if assistive touch doesn't needs your needs.

Crash multiple times while using LR3

Hi my iMac is suffering from endless crashes while I am using LR3.2. My iMac version is 2008 version with 2.66 Core2 Dual, 4GB DDR2 and 256 ATI DDR3 graphic. I have updated to the latest snow leopard. I had been using LR2 with very pleasant speed. Once I upgraded to LR3 things became very sluggish. It then turn out to crash my system. My screen just turn into a black screen with vertical lines (different colours each crash).
I have deleted pref files couple of times but still not helping. What is funny is that i try CD5 Bridge later on which runs really swiftly to organize my files. But it crashed my system with the same lines on black screen.
So now i suspect is the incompatibility between the whole new line of Adobe product and my iMac.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Obviously not everyone is seeing these sorts of problems. The nature of crashes like this is that they can be very hard to reproduce, and might be highly environmental in nature.
The sad fact is that few of us actually ever exercise all the memory in our systems, but Lr is an app that can and will make requests for large amounts of memory.
What you describe sounds like a hardware problem, specifically a bad chunk of memory. Lr might just be running the sort of execution profile that reaches this bad memory in just the right way. Since most PCs don't have any sort of guard against apps running into bad memory, this manifest as unhandled crashes.
If you want to help solve this you need to capture a crashlog, or a few crashlogs, showing the actual crash. don't know the exact details on how to do this on Win64, unfortunately.

Nothing is ever as easy as it should be, though I've no idea what you were doing that took so long. Takes at most 5 mins to insert a SIM card, choose a language and activate the phone. At that point it is working. Another 5-10 mins should get you connected to your email account. You can add media & apps when you're not busy doing something else, and the phone can still make & receive calls while you're doing that!
The web is geared towards always on all you can eat broadband. If you run mobile broadband with a data cap or escalating charges then you need to manage the usage carefully, it is nobody else's problem.
Sorry if I've come over a trifle harsh on your first visit here, but these forums are for users to help each other resolve technical issues. However badly your first day setting things up went there is nothing to be done about it now, A little research, or a chat with a knowledgeable friend or colleague, or getting the phone set up at the store would have made it easy. Chalk it up to experience and move on.
