LR4 wont let me Drag/Drop to organize Photos or Folders

For some reason I'm unable to move photos or folders from within lightroom 4. The drag and drop system from the library module does nothing for me. I'm pretty sure I just watched an AdobeTV demonstration where the presenter had no problem moving files inside the "Folders" panel in the Library. I've even tried highlighting the photos I want to move from the grid view, control+clicking on the folder where I want them to go, selecting "Move Selected Photos to this Folder" from the flyout, and nothing happens.
My cursor shows a green plus(+) icon when I mouse over the destination folder when dragging the photos, as if LR were going to add the files to the folder.... but then nothing happens.
Am I losing it, shouldn't this be a completely intuiative process? Is it possible I've locked my files/photos?

No question marks, but I did create a new admin level user. I was asked to create a new catalog, which I put on my desktop. I then downloaded two images from the web, imported them, and created a couple folders in my library. Here I was finally able to move the imported images back and forth between folders within Lightroom without a problem (only prompted that the move could not be undone).
I logged back into my default/admin user and created a brand new catalog. Unfortunately, going through the exact same steps written above did not repeat the same results, I was unable to move any files inside lightroom, so it seems the catalog isn't to blame.
I don't know what kind of settings LR4 recreates when I logged in as a different user, but clearly that seems to be the variable that's keeping me from moving files.

K3b wont let me drag and drop files or folders

I use k3b and since switching to arch havent had to use it till now. I open it just fine but it wont let me drag and drop from dolphin (files or folders)
though I can manually browse using its interface at the top and add files just fine...
anyone experience same problem or know how to fix?? I couldnt find it in settings.

I'm having the very same problem, dragging and dropping new albums from iphoto to my iWeb created website, after having no trouble doing this for the last 2 years.
I have able to drag and drop just 2 weeks ago and now it doesn't work.
It's an album page, not a photo page, I am certain because there are already 5 albums posted on that page.
Very strange. I wonder if its some sort of update problem they need to fix. All my software is updated (although I dont have ilife '09) but I wonder if some sort of new bug has be created through the most recent updates.
If anyone has a solution I would be most grateful as I've run out of ideas and am unable to post new albums in any way shape or form, drop and drop or not..

Wont let me "drag" the rectangle marquee tool or text box tool.

Hey photoshop wizards... I need your help. I have CS4 and when I use the rectangle marquee tool or text tool... it wont let me click and drag an area that I want. It automatically selects a box from the top left corner of my image to where I clicked. It also does not let me move the box with the move tool once its made. Ive reset all the tools and this has not helped. If you know what Im talking about... please help me as it is preventing me from continuing my work. Thank you.

You don't say what OS.
First thing I do when things get goofy is to trash the prefs. This is covered in the FAQs if you don't know how.

Can anyone tell me why iTunes don't let me drag&drop DTS files?

can anyone tell me what should I do to be able to play DTS audio files with iTunes (Windows 7).
I connected my PC (via optical output) to a 5.1 receiver and everything is ok until I try to drag&drop DTS audio files to iTunes and try to playing them, with VLC ther is no problem playing those files.

The best I can suggest is that if you have an Apple device and hence need to use iTunes, you can either convert the DTS files, or use iTunes for your other media and Windows Media Player for the DTS files. Note: WMP is not really up to the job of handling AIFF, WAV, or Podcast files.
Yes it really is possible to get WMP to play Apple Lossless files. I have my entire collection in Apple Lossless and with the right addons I have WMP12 in Windows 7 able to play Apple Lossless, to put them in the right Music section, and to also automatically read the meta-tags in Apple Lossless files including the embedded artwork.
By using both iTunes and WMP you could have iTunes handle the syncing to your Apple device, and use WMP to play files.

Unable to Drag & Drop email into Smart Mail Folders

With Tiger, one could create "Mail Folders" and Drag & Drop emails into them. How is this possible with Leopard? I create the Folders and Sub-sets of Folders but I cannot archive my emails by dragging and Dropping. Anyone have a solution?

The title of your question mentions "Smart Mail" folders.
The text of the question mentions "Mail Folders".
Drag and drop only works with the regular "Mail Folders". If you try to drag a message into a Smart Mailbox it will refuse to go there because the message doesn't qualify.
"Smart Mail Folders" are supposed to be set up to automatically alias an email in your inbox that has specific qualities, like, The sender is a member of a group in your addressbook, the subject contains a certain word, or other trigger (That's what makes them smart).
Depending on what you are trying to do, you may do better with creating regular "Mail Folders" so that you can manually sort important emails as you wish without having to build the Smart rule.

Let user drag drop dynamic components, resize them

I'm just wondering how you can create UI components and let
the user drag and drop them on the screen
let the user resize the elements, change the text for example
or rotate the element (just like scrapblog)
Lets say you want to have an image object.
Do have to create your own custom components that inhertis
from the image component
add some kind of handle objects and handle al the events so
the user can change the size and rotate it
Or is there a much easier way of doing this kind of cool

How can I add a playlist without deleting the songs I already have on my iphone. It wont let me drag

This is driving me mad. I simply want to add a new playlist to my iphone but a message says that when I beging syncing it will delete my previous songs. I obviously dont want this to happen. In addition, I cant just add these new songs by dragging as it wont allow me to do it. Please help

My problem is I tried to add a playlist from Itunes to my Iphone (5) and it will not add it. I have been doing this for years with all my Iphones and this is the first time its happened. I still have room to add them, so cannot understand what I am doing wrong.

IPhoto randomly stopped letting me drag/drop photos into finder. It's been working all week and all of a sudden, the photos bounce back into iPhoto and don't copy. I tried to rebuild the iPhoto library using the ALT CMD buttons, but that didn't work...

Any suggestions?

What happens if you export the photo (file menu ==> export)?
What do you see if you right click on one ane reveal in finder?

I've had this computer since February & it's always let me drag & drop photos until last week. I can't find anything in settings to fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Photoshop CS4 wont let me use my 3D Axis

For the first month or so using CS4, I could use my 3D Layer tools and the Axis would always show. A few days ago, I started up my work PC just as every other day, and my photoshop had reverted to all of its origional workspace settings, and my 3D Axis has been missing ever since. Anyone recommend a solution? Simply going to View > Show > 3D Axis doesn't work...

I tried both suggestions. Photoshop wont let you drag the 3D Axis out of the canvas, and I still couldnt see it but I found the problem. Somehow when all my preferences got reset, my "Enable OpenGL Drawing" was unchecked...thus, not allowing me to see it.

HT5361 Cannot drag/drop e-mail to folders

I have a new MacBook Pro 13". My MacMail will not allow me to drag & drop e-mails to various folders that are set up under "On My Mac". It also does not work with I try to use the "Move" selection under true drop down menu. I have tried two separate mouse and tried using only the trackpad. Please advise. thanks.

Thanks for teaching me something. I'm trying to drag them to a folder already established in the mail sidebar. I am able to use the tool bar and plop them in, but not the drag feature.
The desktop folder gives me another option. The desktop I was referring to in my post was the desktop version of mail, rather than the online version.
I'll keep trying until someone figures out why the drag feature rebelled.

Hi i have a macbook air that we have some photos on and i have an external hardrive that we used to use on our laptop, i have tried to drag and drop folders on to the external hardrdive and it wont let me or copy and paste???
it just shows a circle with a diagonal line through it

I suspect that the external HDD is not formatted that will allow the MBA write to it. You will have to open Disk Utility>Erase and format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Note that this will delete all data on the external HDD.

It lets me play the song from the folder in my computer and then it opens with iTunes and plays the song all the way through, but then if I try to play it again, it says the file cannot be located. So then I go to locate and go to the folder and all that and select it and nothing happens.

Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.

Drag and drop and sync are two entirely different things.
To drag and drop you must check the manually manage music box. When you switch from sync to manually manage, then it will erase the current content.

ITunes won't let me drag and drop anymore

Last friday, I closed my Macbook and it never started again. I bought a new one. The guy at the Mac Store said, "Just plug in your iPhone, enter your pw, and everything will work like it used to." Of course, I left the store thinking, "No way is that going to happen," but I didn't stay and fight. Of course, I plugged in my iPhone, immidately my Mac started saying, "You do not have sufficient permissions." To get rid of it, I read a post that said I should select to sync and then unsync everything from the phone (which deleted everything of course, but I'm not that upset about). Anyhow, the iPhone syncs now, but the lingering issue is that my old computer let me drag and drop MP3 files directly from my Finder window to the iPhone music library in iTunes. I DID NOT HAVE TO USE THE ITUNES LIBRARY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO CREATE PLAYLISTS. (I hate people who capitolize things, but I've read in several other posts where people say, "That was never possible to drag and drop, you always had to create playlists." No, you did not. I gurantee you because I've never done it). To state it just once more, I did NOT load the songs into iTunes, then go from iTunes to the iPhone, but instead, with iTunes open, and the iPhone plugged it, I would select the mp3 in the Finder window, then drag it to the part of iTunes which allows me access to the iPhone, and the iPhone section of iTunes (not the main iTunes library on my Macbook, but the iPhone itself) would become highlighted in blue, then I would release the trackpad and the song would load onto the iPhone (but never be associated with or loaded into the iTunes library for my Macbook).
Now when I drag the mp3 over, the iPhone section stays gray and won't let me do it.
How can I fix this? I detest iTunes. I'd be in love with Apple completely if it weren't for iTunes, which is constantly broken and never works. I'm happy with my music stored in my own filing mechanism, with my own method of tagging them, and I don't want to conform, I don't want to "get used to it."
Please someone tell me how to fix this! (Before it messes up my iPad as well).
PS... Of course, in the time my computer broke and I bought the new one, Apple released yet another updated version of iTunes, which they forced me to update before I could even use it. So, I don't know if the phone didn't sync over correctly or the update didn't work.
