LR4 World wide pricing - why the differences ?

Could someone please advise as to why the $79 upgrade offer from previous LR versions is only available in the U.S., Canada and Mexico ?
When trying to order the latest version the appropriate link  allows only purchases from the above 3 countries. To download it from Adobe's Australian site the cost is $20 dearer.
As it doesn't cost any more to download software from America, Great Britain or South East Asia, why the extra charge ?
Can someone  please clarify the situation.
One can only assume that Adobe Australia is making a very handsome profit on it's software sales !!!

Why do vendors charge different prices for the same products in different markets?
Becasue they can.
Need to know more?  All vendors will try to segment the market as far as they can to ensure they charge the most that segment will bear.  Geographical segmentation is a particularly easy one.  But many web vendors now use software to segment shoppers.  For example, if you use a Mac you may be charged more than if you use a PC (or not get offered so many discounts), as vendors consider Mac users are generally more affluent.  If you take ages to shop on a web site, and browse cheap products, you are more likely to be offered discounts than if you quickly select an item and go to check-out.  In the latter case you have already made the decision to buy, so no need to offer you a discount.
Tax and delivery charges can be a reason for differential prices, but are often not the only reason, and may not be the main reason.

Since I joined creative cloud, I have not been able to sync. Why the difference? Worked good during initial trial.
Also I had installed the Mosaic app for ipad before Lightroom mobile came out and I cannot seem to get rid of it. How can I get mosaic out? I have cancelled, I have deleted, I have looked through the files for visible remnants.

The sync count is 60 and static. The total number synced so far is 500+. None have been synced from the ipad except for corrections made there on those already synced.
I have deleted the Mosaic app from all machines and checked the library folder and have contacted the Mosaic tech support and they have discontinued my subscription. I still get mosaic messages on initiating Lightroom and sometimes at closing.
I have not tried to sync fewer yet, but some catalogs that I have tried are smaller numbers. Initially, it did well on good connections. Nothing works on my home connections over satellite.

The download is the compacted installer; the other one is the installed product.

  • With All Photographs selected it shows "9568 of 9615 photos".  Why the difference?

I'm certain that last week these counts tallied (or only one count shown) but now in LR 5.3 Library with All Photographs selected it shows "9568 of 9615 photos".  Why the difference?
I've checked "Missing Photographs" and there are none, Library filter is None, and Filters Off.  Somehow I'm missing 47 photos.

  • Why the difference in plans between USB modems/hotspots and tablets?

I have a USB760 3G USB Modem that I want to activate on Friday when I get paid.  I went to the Mobile broadband plans webpage and looked at the pre-paid plans that are available.
However, they price data access differently for USB modems/hotspots than they do tablets.
For a USB modem, I can get only 1GB for $50.  But with a tablet, I'd get 2GB for $30.
Why the difference?  Can anyone explain this to me?
I would appreciate some info.  I called the phone center, and they were no help and knew nothing.  I thought maybe someone at Verizon would read this and actually be able to give me a sensible explanation of why data plans for a USB modem are so much more than for a tablet...especially when my USB modem is 3G and won't have as much bandwidth impact as a newer model.
    Thanks.

Probably because you were reading the information incorrectly.  Per the table below, you get 5GB for $50 for the USB Modem.  You just don't have the option of the 2GB plan with the modem as (and this is my guess) most users use more than 2GB per month with those devices.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why the difference between the Extension list and the Plug-in list

On my Extension list I can see -
    Java Console 6.0.22 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.23 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.24 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.25 Disable
The old versions have been disabled.
On the Plug-in list I can see -
    Java Deplyment Toolkit 6.0.250.6
    Java Platform SE 6 U25
If I check via the Control Panel I appear to have only
    Java 6 Update 25 installed.
    Why the discrepancy?
Why do I still see references to older versions, and presumably not on the computer any more, shown on the Extensions list?

That link was most helpful. Opening FireFox as an Admin, something I had never thought of, allowed me to remove the dead wood from the 'Extensions' display.
Previously, the only way I could be certain exactly what was actually available was by visiting Control Panel ... Programs and Features
Thanks to both of you for your interest.

  • Re: Why the Difference?

Can someone explain the difference in price. The first model is the Intel Core i3-2370M Processor T530 upgraded to an i5-3210M Processor and cost $879. The second model is just the  i5-3210M Processor T530, but costs $929.

  • Basic RC - why the difference?

    Greetings All,
It's a little embarrassing to be posting this low-level question but not knowing the answer as driven me to this last resort.  Forgive me!
I've drawn up a parallel rc circuit as attached.  I've done all the calculations as per text (yes,  I'm a beginner) and no matter what,  I come up with a different answer for the current as compared to multisim 12. I'm guessing that given this is such an extensive program, the error is due to my ignorance of settings, parameters, other formulae, and not a mere bug.   I've tried this in TINA and TINA's answer is the same as mine.   So,  why is Multisim different?  What am I missing?  Please help.
I've posted two files,   one ms12 and one jpg of same.
    Regards.

    Hi Bamber,
I ran some tests with your circuit and the reason why the values are a bit off is because of the timestep being used. The time step determines when the readings should be taken. To solve this issue, go to Simulate -> interactive Simulation Settings and change the settings as shown in screen shot.
    Hope this helps.

  • From my phone to a friends the messages are mostly in a blue box but sometimes in green...why the difference between the same 2 phones?

From my phone to a friends the message box is usually blue, but sometimes green. Why the change between the same 2 phones?

If it's green, it either means that your imessage is turned off in the settings or imessage is turned off on your friend's settings
also, it will turn green instead of blue if you're not within good cellular data coverage and not in wifi

  • Why the difference in free space on internal drive?

I'm confused - when I look at my Storage info under the "About This Mac" item, my internal drive shows that it has "141.6 GB free out of 499.25 GB" (and why it shows 87.54 GB of Backups, I don't know).
Yet when I look at a Finder window, the drive shows 230.89 GB available. That's an almost 90 GB difference.
I'm assuming (until someone tells me otherwise) that the "About This Mac" information is the 'truest' but I, frankly, don't know.
Could someone please explain this discrepancy to me?
Ever thankful to have smarter heads than I in these forums,
    Clinton

Both are correct. You have local snapshots turned on for Time Machine...hence the 90GB's of backups. These backups are deleted as you need space...hence what Finder reports. IMO, there are pros/cons to local snapshots...useful if you accidentally delete something...not so if your drive fails(obviously). Time Machine backups need to be on an external drive, not solely on your internal drive.

  • Why the difference in the Photos app functionality between the iPad 2 and iPhone 4?

Photo Stream works well on my iPad 2. For whatever reason, iPad 2 has more functionality in the iOS 5 "Photos" app than the iPhone 4. This may be because my iPad is 64GB and the iPhone is 32GB. Nevertheless, the iPad has the following folders in the Photos app (the first four of which match OSX iPhoto on the Mac in numbers of photos; only the order of matches in the Photo Stream folder; the last folder is not in iPhoto, or is not readily displayed there as far as I can tell):
"Photos" - corresponding to the Photos folder in iPhoto Library (not in the same order)
"Photo Stream" - virtually identical to Photo Stream in iPhoto
"Albums" - same as in iPhoto, including "Last 12 Months" and "Last Import"
"Events" - about one quarter the number of Events (groupings of photos) as are listed in iPhoto
"Places" - not displayed in iPhoto, as far as I can tell
The Photos app in the iPhone only lists "Albums," starting with Camera Roll and Photo Stream, with the option of adding more albums (no option to delete) - but not like the Albums that are displayed on the iPad.
What accounts for this difference between iPad and iPhone?

    Thanks for the report.

  • Aperture Library and Vault: Why the difference in size?

My Aperture Library is 226 GB and the Vault that's supposedly backing it up is only 144 GB?
I recently upgrade from a G5 to a new Mac Pro. The Library is intact but has something happened after I updated the vault? I can't remember if the vault size was so much smaller before I transferred all the date from my old Mac to my new one. Should I delete everything on the external hard drive containing the Vault and create a brand new vault?
    Advice welcome.

A bit late, but just thought I'd add to this. Tidysteve is right, the previews can use up a lot of space. If you're using hi-res previews, they're effectively a JPEG of the same dimensions as the original file, so they can be quite big. If I do hi-res previews for my DSLR they can be up to 4 or 5 MB each so it could definitely explain the big difference.
Try rebuilding your previous at a smaller size. BUT, do it when you've got nothing else to do and walk away for a while as it will take a loooong time.

  • Why the differences between iTunes Online stores?

I am English, but live in the Netherlands. Therefore, I have to use the Dutch iTunes store.
Having searched the U.K., Dutch, German and even the Norwegian site, I am curious, and somewhat annoyed, as to why some albums are available on one country's site and not on another. If an album I want is available on the Norwegian site I am unable to purchase it using my Dutch account.
Why can't I purchase everything that iTunes has to offer through one online store?

To expand on what Roger has said, those agreements are "controlled" by the record companies/copyright owners, so it's not due to iTunes or Apple that the music you want isn't available in the Netherlands.

  • Why the difference exists on using "dism /image:u:\ /add-driver:?"

    hello Mrs/Mr
I have some difference on "installing win2k12 server" by winpe(8.1) way.
the case is the following Win2k12 R2 x64 version
    step1:
    dism /Apply-Image /imagefile:d:\split_install.swm /swmfile:d:\split_install*.swm /Index:4 /ApplyDir:u:\
    step2:
    dism /image:u:\ /Add-Driver /Driver:d:\drivers\  /Recurse
There are no problem on Step2 on installing win2k12 R2 x64 debugcheck or win8/win8.1.
But there are error on Step2 on installing 10005.0.150125-0130.WINMAIN_PRS_SERVER_OEMRET_X64FRE_EN-US.

Sorry I didn't respond right away.  Got busy on other matters and this issue slipped my mine.  Developements have happened...
On coming back to this project, the HD on my laptop died (development comp).  Never had any display issues on this machine  (was previously posting about issue on computer where app will be run from, where issue still exists).  After re-installing everything on my new HD, I'm now experiencing this problem on my development laptop as well.
I'm using an IBM Thinkpad T30 (P4-M, 2.0GHz, 256MB, ATI 7500 Mobility).  So it used to display fine on this machine, now it doesn't, and I'm experiencing the same symptoms: grainy display from what appears to be a lower resolution colour palette (maybe 256).
Here too, this is only an issue within the development environment.  The startup Labview splash screen looks fine (again LV7.1), the blue bar along the top of all windows transitions from the darker shade of blue to the lighter shade, properly.  This issue is on the toolbar and in the developement area within Labview only.
It's weird how this appears to just come or just go.  I don't remember who, but somebody here mentioned how their problem just stopped as suddenly as it started.  And as this is localized to LV, I'm inclined to think this is not the video card, but perhaps some file/driver/dll that perhaps gets modified/updated without direct visibility.  I briefly had this issue aswell on an older Toshiba laptop about a year ago, but it eventually "fixed" itself aswell (don't remember model/specs of older Toshiba).
Anymore help and research into the issue will be most appreciated.

  • Why the difference?

    Why does this one compile:
    tell application "Finder"
open document file "film.key" of folder "FilmFolder" of folder "Movies" of folder "hans" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
But the next one gives the compile error: Expected end of line but found "
    tell application "QuickTime Player "
play document file "film.mov" of folder "FilmFolder" of folder "Movies" of folder "hans" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
Chokes on the first " of "film.mov".
I want to have AppleScript play a movie to the end end then execute the next AppleScript statement.
    Hans van der Meer

AppleScript has the file and folder keywords, but the file "film.mov" of folder "FilmFolder" of folder "Movies" of folder "hans" of folder "Users" of startup disk is a Finder reference - other applications won't know what that is, so you need to use the file/folder path/alias, e.g. file "Macintosh HD:Users:hans:Movies:FilmFolder:film.key".
