LR5 compatable with PS CS5?

Is Lightroom 5 compatable with PS CS5?

Depends on what you mean by "compatible".  If you render using Lightroom, it's compatible with any pixel editing, even not from Adobe.  I use Elements 9 with LR5.
If you need Camera Raw to render Lightroom-edited images, then no, you can't get Camera Raw 8.x in CS5.

  • Compatibility with Photoshop CS5 and CS6

Anyone who can help me please leave a comment or a suggestion. I would gladly appreciate it!!
I am starting a Digital Media class in college and CS5 is what is setup on the computers and textbooks are also about CS5 as well. They haven't upgraded to CS6 yet. I am mainly doing Photoshop, Flash Professional, and Illustrator in this class. The first program we are using is Photoshop. I have just paid for and downloaded the Creative Cloud and everything pertains to CS6.
My question is should I stick with using Photoshop CS5? Or can Photoshop CS6 be used as long as I don't use the newer parts of the program?
Also will there be compatible issues in say for instance I am doing a project and going back and forth from my computer at home (with CS6) to working on it at school (with CS5)?

As long as you enable the "Maximum Compatibility" option, you will always have data to work with. Of course some features will not be available, but that should not be that big an issue. I'd rather be concerned about Flash and Illustrator, which are much more prone to converting data into non-editable stuff when saving from a newer version to an older version....

    Hi,
CS6 can definitely open the CS5 saved native Illustrator ( .ai ) files. In order to open the files saved from Illustrator CS6 in CS5, you would need to save the file to CS5 version.
Illustrator provides you with the option to save a file which is compatible with its earlier versions.
This can be done by selecting Version as "Illustrator CS5" in Illustrator Options dialog which appears when saving .ai file, shown as below:
This saved file can be opened in Illustrator CS5 without any warnings..

  • Photoshop CS5 compatibility with windows 7 and windows 8

    Hello,
I do not understand the technical side of computers - I just use them for my work as a photographer
I have Photoshop CS5 32 bit installed on my PC with Vista home premium. I am buying a new PC with 64 bit Windows 7 installed, and it also has the option to upgrade for free to Windows 8 pro.
Will my CS5 work on windows 7 and if I take the free upgrade will it work on Windows 8 pro?
Does it matter that CS5 is 32 bit and the new PC will be 64 bit?
I don't want to get the free upgrade if it means my CS5 won't work on it, as I am happy wioth CS5 and do not need to upgrade to CS6 yet.
    Many thanks
    Tog Porter

Photoshop CS5 is a 32/64 bit application, so when you install it on your new system it will install both 32 and 64 bit versions by default.  This will give you compatibility with your 32 bit plug-ins, as well as 64 bit capability to edit large documents.
You may want to avoid the upgrade to Windows 8 at this time.  It's still immature and the drivers (e.g., for ATI video cards) leave something to be desired.  Plus, in general Windows 8 doesn't offer any compelling new features over Windows 7 (and actually removes some very useful one) - unless you really want the silly full-screen Metro/Modern games they offer at their new App Store.
If you DO decide to install the Windows 8 upgrade, I recommend you take whatever steps are necessary to install the new system as a full, virgin installation, rather than trying to upgrade the Windows 7 system you already have installed - and by this I mean you should NOT take the "keep programs and settings" upgrade, but do a Custom installation and install Windows 8 as though on a blank disk.  Operating systems installed as upgrades to prior versions virtually never work right.
In any case, after having run Photoshop on Windows 7 for a while, you'll want to DEactivate your Adobe software before making the transition (you can do this through the Help menu), then reactivate it after you're up on the new system.  This keeps control of your activation/licensing in your hand.
I strongly suggest you read up on Windows 8 before deciding to upgrade.  You'll find a lot of experts agree that it's not an improvement over Windows 7, which is hard to imagine because all prior versions - even Vista - have been improvements over their predecessors.

Hello, normally, there is no problem, according to: http://blogs.adobe.com/vikrant/2013/10/creative-cloud-creative-suite-6-and-mavericks-10-9/ BUT... some users reported issues with menus when using a Wacom tablet (look in the forum) and make sure that your third party plug-ins work ok in Mavericks.

Just bought a new camera (Canon T3i).  Took a scandisk full of pics in "Camera Raw".  Tried to open in Photoshop and got messsage that "Camera Raw" from my camera is not compatible with Photoshop CS5.  What can I do??

Download the most recent version of ACR which for CS5 is ACR 6.7. (which if you had mentioned your system I could have pointed you to the download). You'll just have to find it yourself in the Adobe Updates.

  • Problems with the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite on OSX Lion?

Hi, did anybody had already problems with the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite on OSX Lion? I purchased the software as a Volume licenced product recently and everything was working fine, until since few days my Indesign and Illustrator keep crashing on launch. I de-installed and re-installed the entire CS5 Suite on my iMac, but Indesign and Illustrator still keep on crashing while launching. I already rang the Adobe tech support but they are not very helpful at all... Its quite frustrating.

No problems here with CS5. After I upgraded to Lion I did update to 5.5 and still did not experience any problems. There are some handy articlles on Adobe's web site relating to compatability with Lion, but I have experienced none. Have you checked the third party plug-ins in Illustrator and InDesign for compatability if you have any installed?

  • Encore & Premiere Pro CS3 with Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
I have the CS3 suite on Vista 32 bit. I was wondering if I can keep the Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3  and only upgrade Photoshop to CS5. Has anyone had any compatibility issues using this combination? Can Encore CS3 menus be easily edited in Photoshop CS5?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum
You cannot upgrade to a standalone program from a Suite.
But to answer your question: yes you can edit Encore CS3 menus with Photoshop CS5.

  • Backwards and forwards compatibilty with Pshop CS5 extended

I am looking to upgrade from CS2 to CS5 extended (Ive recently had to buy a new workstation with Windows 7 64bit) and wondered how flexible the compatibilty of the files will be with older versions.
Most importantly I will still need to exchange files with clients that are on CS3 for example.
I appreciate that 'extended' has lots of toys that older versions dont have but will it be that these CS5 files will just not open or that older versions flag up incompatibilty warnings?
Is there an option to save out specifically backwards compatible PSDs from CS5?
Im assuming that opening old files in CS5 will be less of an issue
It would be good to know how flexible this will all be.
    Thanks

CS5 should read earlier version files no problem.
To ensure compatibility of new CS5 files with older versions, be careful with features that are peculiar to the newer version and turn on Maximize Compatibility in Edit > Preferences > File handling.

  • Existing Actions and Plugins Compatible with Photoshop CS5?

I have actions and plug-in products, and while I've done everything I can to make them future-proof, I'm wondering if any Photoshop CS5 beta testers can speak to whether existing actions and plugins are generally compatible with Photoshop CS5?
    Specifically:
Are existing 32 bit Windows (PC) plugins proving to be compatible with Photoshop CS5?
Are existing 64 bit Windows (PC) plugins proving to be compatible with Photoshop CS5?
Are existing actions (both platforms) proving to be compatible with Photoshop CS5?
I'm anxiously awaiting the go-ahead to download my copy to verify everything, but I'm just trying to get a feel for whether I'll have work to do.  I'm hoping for the level of compatibility seen in CS3 and CS4 - all my software worked perfectly with no changes.
    Thanks.

I appreciate you all taking the time to answer, but none of you has actually said what DOES happen with your existing actions / plugins and CS5 beta.
I know that experience with one set of actions and plugins doesn't guarantee operation with another, but if, for example, someone actually stated, "all my old plugins failed to work with CS5" or "they all seemed to work okay" then I'd have a better idea of what to expect.
Please keep in mind I've been developing commercial actions since PS6 and plugins since CS2, and all my software works on all 32 bit versions and 64 bit CS4 on Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64, so I'm intimately familiar with what might happen and what should happen.  Plus I've programmed them to be quite resilient, and I don't expect any of the CS5 feature changes to break them.  What I don't know is whether Adobe has fundamentally altered the plugin interface this time around, or has deprecated any old filters, causing a plugin or action that used to work to fail now.  The word "rewrite" has been used to describe CS5, and that has me wondering.
In short, I'm really looking for actual experience with the CS5 beta here.
Wish I could get the CS5 SDK already.  I don't understdand why Adobe doesn't release that in advance.
    Thanks.

  • Current supported xcode with PS CS5 SDK

    Hi all,
I'm looking for some prescriptive guidance pertaining to building Cocoa plug-ins for PS CS5 using the latest xcode. In building various samples, I'm finding numerous issues. I did get the dissolve filter to build agains OS X 10.6, but no dice against 10.7.  I'm further running into various random issues that have been documented elsewhere, such as Adobe Unit Types errors.
All that to say, what's the latest xcode and OS version that we can reasonably expect to target with the CS5 SDK (and samples)?
Bonus points...are there backward compatibility issues if we build against the CS5 SDK and want to target CS3 and CS4 with our plugins?
    Thanks!
    Jack

Thanks Chris.  And no arguments there, Apple has created quite a mess in that you can't even install Xcode 3 on Lion/10.7.  (Well, turns out you can hack it but it's non-trivial.)  I suspect my new dev system that came with Lion will need to be downgraded.  And speaking of, we're seeing some rather odd behavior with our plug-in on Lion.  Silly things like no longer being able to resize windows, so it seemed useful to investigate refreshing the PS SDK we're building against and/or Xcode.  Two last questions...
First, can you hazard a guess as to when we might expect an updated SDK, and what Xcode it might be built against?
Second, will targeting the CS5 SDK introduce any backwards compatibility issues on older versions of Photoshop (back to CS3)?
    Thanks again,
    Jack
