LR5 does not associate

I am unable to associate LR5 and to make it the defualt to open .nef photos in LR5. I can choose LR5 as the default programme but it does not come up. The default stays with LR4. I have tried moving LR4, but al that happens then is that i get no default programme. ANy ideas how i resolve?

As far as I know, this is not possible if you are running a Windows computer. (I don't know if it is possible on other operating systems).
I have read of a hack on the internet that makes it possible, I don't know if there's any validity to it, but I have also read that you use this hack at the risk of having your original photos accidentally modified by the hack. So ...

Where are you looking to download them from ? You might be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your Mac's iTunes. If that album shows there but doesn't have the cloud symbol against it for redownloading then that implies that it's still in your iTunes library

Lr5 does not import from d800 tether does not work either.

When i connect D800 to my Win7pro laptop win sees the camera but LR5 does not.
It freezes when i try to import and it does not recognize it for tether, I can tether other program.

@Denyerec, Hi! Just so you are aware this is a user to user forum so the replies you will get here are mainly from users like your self. To have someone understand exactly what your problem is and respond with anything constructive you will need to supply a lot more details.
What system are you useing Mac or PC what OS? What are you attempting to do when you have a problem? Do you get an error message? If so exactly what does it say? Was Lightroom working properly prior to this problem? Is your camera a Nikon D800 also?

LR5 does not load gpx

In LR4, I was able to create a gpx file on my iPhone while on a photowalk using the "Trails" application. When done the walk, I would email myself that tracklog and save it on my desktop. Using LR5, I can select my gpx file on the desktop, but it does not load. Nothing happens. In LR4, it would show my route on the maps screen and I could auto tag images. But not in LR5.
How can I get LR to read my track logs again so that I could auto tag my photographs.
I ensured that the camera and iPhone clock were both synchronized before the walk.
I am using OSX (all updates applied) and LR5.3.

Update ...
I installed LR on my computer at work and tried loading the gpx file without issues, so that confirms that it is not the gpx file itself being the issue.
But LR at work is Windows. My computer at home is OSX.
So, it is either a bug with LR5.x on OSX or something wrong with my installation.
Not sure how to reset my installation. I don't want to loose too much of what I set up, and definately don't want to screw up my catalog.

Lr5 does not respond very rapidly

I am using Lr5.0 on Windows7 with Service pack 1.I have the most up to date Graphics Card Drivers, 8 gb of RAM
Lr occassionally does not respond very rapidly and appears to be turning the monitor off and on very rapidly - around 10 times per second.
Is anybody else having this problem and is there a known fix?

LR5 does not see my Photoshop-CC ??

I installed Photoshop CC last night, but LR does not seem to see it, and still points to by CS6 install.
I renamed the CS6 folder to see what happened, and it grayed-out the "edit-in" for Photoshop.
Anyone else see this??

I cannot recall if CS3 from CS2 had this issue, or if it was CS3 to CS4, but there was a point, where Brushes (and Actions, IIRC), were changed enough, so that most would not translate to the newer version. Someone with a much better memory of such can probably give you specifics.

Root Bridge can see NonRoot Bridges but does not Associate

This is a point-to-multipoint bridging LAN for networking eight serial devices (air quality monitors) to a central Windows box for real-time wireless data acquisition. Thus far, I have configured a single Aironet 1310 as the root bridge (RB: 150.100.0.2, 255.255.0.0) at the Windows box (PC: 150.100.0.1, 255.255.0.0) and three Aironet 1310s as non-root bridges (NRB1: 150.100.0.3; NRB2: 150.100.0.4; NRB3: 150.100.0.5). When the system's working, each of the NRBs will connect to an ethernet-to-serial device server with its own IP, and the serial devices will connect to the device servers as COM2-COM9, respectively. Each node in this network has an external antenna, an omni at the RB and directional/Yagi antennae at the NRBs. Distances are short, hundreds of meters, so power will not be the limiting factor. (We could have done this with Zigbee but decided to overdesign for reliability.)
After assigning IP addresses to all four bridges using the command-line interface, and with the RB connected to an ethernet hub/switch, we configured each of the NRBs by connecting them to the same hub/switch and using the browser interface. We used the document at

and followed it to the letter to configure first the RB, then the NRBs.
After configuring all four bridges, and while all four were still hard-wired together through the hub/switch, all four bridges showed the proper associations in the "State" column of the web interface under "Association." To test the wireless links we disconnected the three NRBs from the hub/switch by removing the ethernet cables, leaving the RB connected to the hub/switch (naturally) to maintain connection to the host PC. We then refreshed all associations.
On the RB web interface, all three NRBs showed up with the proper IP addresses, but the "State" fields showed "Attempting Association" or something like that rather than "EAP-Associated."
All three NRB web interfaces disappeared because the links were lost. I tried to PING each of the IP addresses using a DOS command, but all three timed out.
So, in short, the RB can "see" all three NRBs and "knows" they're there; but the association does not complete. What are my options for diagnosing the problem?

For the non-root bridge, is there a way to set the scan? I can see in the log file shows that the scan is starting when I changed from Install to non-root bridge. Once I am on the non-root bridge role, I don't see any more the log for scanning.
I don't know about any command that controls the scanning interval when the bridge is in non-root mode. I also don't think it logs every time it goes into a scan cycle because I think they're pretty close together, maybe at most a few seconds.
My question is "is there some ways that I can initiate the scan on the non-root bridge?
You can shut/no-shut the non-root bridge radio interface. Every time you do this it intiates a new scan immediately.
can I use the "parent" command on the point-to-multipoint environment?
As far as I know, yes. I think the only mode parent doesn't work in is repeater mode. For repeaters, you don't configure a list of parents, you only configure one single MAC peer.
An added thought: if you are having trouble with the bridge link coming up, then there is likely either a signal or a configuration issue (and chasing the scan interval probably won't net you any solutions). I've found that a great way to narrow the troubleshooting is to configure the bridges on the ground at close range (maybe 50-100 feet apart, not right up against each other) to control for signal. Once you have a working configuration and you know for sure that the bridges will come up, then install them in your outdoor locations. Keep in mind that when outdoors, a lot of factors can play into signal claritiy and usability (trees/foliage, distance, LOS/fresnel, earth curvature, weather, noise and interference, etc.). Also, unfortunately for the 1310s, the 2.4GHz space is really congested in most populated areas so they are not a reliable solution unless you're out in the country. Always survey first.

Roaming is primarily based in client decision. Try upgrading driver and firmware on the client.Different venodrs various stratagies for roaming. You should look for specific parameters on client.

LR5 does not show folders on left side in library

Am new to the forums, so appreciate any help I can get. Previously shown folders from Pictures (iMac / Mavericks) on left side, no longer show up. When selecting Import, they show up on the lower right side. LR5 will not let me select from library so that I can work with the folders. Suggestions? Many thanks.

Close the main folder in the left panel and open it again, this refeshes the view

Just downloaded PS CC 2014 and LR5.
PS seems fine, but LR5 will not open at all. I've tried to delete the app from the apps folder, and reinstalled via CC Application. Still no luck.

Optimizing the catalogue was a good move.
I wonder if this is a variation of the bug where Lightroom fails to display long lists on Windows. Usually after about 1600 items, keywords for instance, any subsequent ones are hidden. So I'm thinking 11th February might be the 1601st.
What happens if you add a year folder and drag the date-folders under it? I'd just create one year initially, 2010, and then see if folders after 2012-02-11 behave normally.

I have a simple answer to the problem of photoshop cc not being able to associate psd files and not showing in the options window when you try to associate it with the psd file? How do I get it into the forum where it belongs?

Photoshop does associate with PSD and PSB files on both platforms.
It sounds like your OS is confused about the available file associations.
Which OS version are you using?

When editing externally (Smart Photo Editor) , LR5 does not stack, show or updates the new image in the catalog

I am using the latest version of Smart Photo Editor to edit in external editor from LR5. On LR4 the new image appeared in the catalog, not so with LR5. I have to go to the folder and Sync it so the image appears. Then all my other images are compiled and i will only see that one image which is the "latest import". MAybe something on the settings?

i found LR5 the most bug infested LR version ever.
i "use" it only as test setup.
real work i still do with LR 4.4.

nope.. in this forum you will only hear that this is not such a big issue and will be fixed soon.

there is a text layer bug in photoshop i reported back in 2011 and that´s still in photoshop CC.....

LR4.4 and now LR5 does not display photos in filmstrip or Library module

I have been using LR4.4 and now upgraded to 5. My only problem has been neither versions display the photos in filmstrip or the Library module
after being imported. It displays blank frames and you can click on one in Develop and it will show the photo. But its obviously very hard to identify a specific photo if you can't see it in Library or Filmstrip.
I have read various manuals and don't see the answer as it is assumed LR does this. Nikon View NX2 on the same computer works fine.
I also wonder could there be a conflict between the Nikon View NX2 program and Lightroom.

If you are able to import the images then the problem is not NikonTransfer or ViewNX.
This may be a bad monitor profile or incompatible video drivers.
See if there is an update for your video drivers.
Set your monitor profile to sRGB-whatever instead of one from the manufacturer that may not be compatible with LR.
You can go one step future and calibrate your display by hand using this process (for Windows 7):

It is better to calibrate your display with a hardware device such as a Spyder, ColorMunki or i1Display.

Win 7 does not associate swf with Shockwave Flash Captivate 7

I created a test file and when I went to publish it in Win 7, there was no application for the swf file. I tried to find Shockwave Flash or Macromedia and I could not find anything to associate it with. I looked on the Internet and someone suggested a stand alone Flash Player. I can associate the swf file with that but then it won't play through Captivate like it should. I tested it on another Win 7 machine and it too could not find the application. Captivate 5 with XP was so easy. It just found it and I had no problems. What is this about? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you publish your project as a SWF, a HTML file is also published. You can open this HTML just like any other web page in IE, FireFox or Chrome, You don't need a standalone Flash Player for that.
