LR5 Importing to wrong folder

I have been importing to folders on drive I. It is now full. I am trying to import to drive H which has plenty of room. Every time I try to import to H LR tells me that drive I is full, which of course I already bloody well know. So I am unable to import at this point because LR only wants to go to my full folder. Help please. I do have full permissions on the I drive

The message in the screenshot says your catalog drive is out of space, not your import-photos-to-drive is out of space.   How big is your catalog?
I’ve had LR complain about my catalog drive being out of space during a backup operation when the problem was my boot drive which contains my Users folder that LR temporarily puts a copy of my catalog when it is checking for integrity.  Even though this drive is never referred to in the error message.  I was unable to make backups until I cleared about 2.5 times the size of my catalog’s space from my boot drive, even though my catalog and backups are on my P drive and C was never referred to in any error message.
The one strange thing in the message is that it says you need at least 20MB free, which you have 7GB free.
The “forever bug” referred to is where the number of bits being used to represent free space can be too small and so only the remainder after dividing by 2GB is what is seen.  For 7.2 GB this remainder would be 1.2GB.  If this bug is in effect and LR thinks you only have 1.2GB free on whatever drive it is checking so maybe your catalog is large enough that catalog-size times whatever multiplier of your catalog size LR thinks it needs in reserve is larger than 1.2GB.

  • CD imported to wrong folder organization Album/Artist instead of Artist/Alb

I imported (ripped) a CD and the folder convention iTunes created in my music library was like this:
    AlbumName/ArtistName
    instead of
    ArtistName/AlbumName
How could this happen. I have ripped hundreds of CD's and this is the first time it has happened. I am letting iTuned organize my files.
    Any clues?
    Thanks!

Actually I know exactlty what bae77345 is referring to, because I am running into the same problem. Thus my search in the forums.
Usually Ive had no problem in importing a song into iTunes, and changing the song IN iTunes to read as follows.
Name of Song: DAYS `EUREKA OPENING MIX`
    Artist: Anime
Album : Eureka seveN OST 1
    Album artist: FLOW
And the Windown path would look like this
    C:\Documents and Settings\Varxtis\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Anime\Eureka seveN OST 1\1-01 DAYS `EUREKA OPENING MIX`.mp3
    Notice It goes Artist>Album>Song Title
Album Artist would not even be part of the path, which is exactly what I want.
    but now it shows
    C:\Documents and Settings\Varxtis\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\FLOW\Eureka seveN OST 1\1-01 DAYS `EUREKA OPENING MIX`.mp3
Which goes AlbumArtist>Album>Song Title. it doesn't even include the artist as part of the path. How annoying.
It makes a HUGE difference to me because I need everything in "iTunes Music" library in windows to be pathed as Artist>Album: Song Title. I use a different MP3 Player so, it's almost impossible to have half one way (those that have albumartist) and half another (those that don't) BTW, Sorry apple. . .no Offense. I've had and loved an iPod. . . but it died and I got this as a gift.
I never changed any settings, and quite honestly it's been about a month since I had to update my MP3 player music (thus noticing the problem). So, there HAS to be a reason for it to change. And more importantly, a way to change it back.

  • Photos imported into wrong folder

When running an import and setting destination to import into subfolder organised by date (2011/2011-04-29) the ophotos taken late in the day do not go into the correct folder, they import into the next days folder. It appears the calculation used for the import does not take into acct regional settings.
Using lightroom 3.4 (also seen with 3.2 and 3.3)
Any ideas other than manually sorting all photos?
I notice that the Canon import software correctly sorts the photos, just have to use that then synchronise in lightroom, not good but at least till adobe fix the bug it will have to do.

Can you find out exactly how many hours  difference there is ?
Do you have some AM/PM problem?
Are you shure your computer is in the right time-zone?
    Daylight savings corrected ?

  • Lightroom imports photos to wrong folder

I've been importing lots of photos from my hard drive into lightroom and been moving/renaming them in the process. I only got lightroom a few weeks ago.
This has worked fine but i've recently imported a few hundred photos off my iphone and doing the same thing - move and rename. The trouble is, these photos keep going into the 2009 folder, instead of the 2012 or 2013 folders that they should be. When i look at the photos, they have the correct name, and the capture date seems to be correct, its just lightroom keeps wanting to put them in the wrong folder by year. Does anyone understand why this might be happening?
naturally I want all my photos sorted into the right date folders as this is the way ive decided to organise my photos...

hmm so still not making sense. it keeps wanting to import my photos into the wrong destination. have removed all the photo from lightroom. how do i change it so it automatically puts the photos into the corresponding year/month they were taken..
I understand its something in the import settings/destination but cant seem to change this. not sure what parts of the import box your wanting to see Dj.
the structure now is my pictures/2009/21-7-09 then its creating new year folders and sorting them within this 21-7-9 folder..
    can't see to change this?

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images.  BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine:  e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?

Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window.  Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

  • LR5 Import dialog does not list any images

Lightroom 5 is not seeing that a folder of images I'm trying to import has any images in it. The folder is question has well over 5,000 jpegs (it's my iPhone image depository). While I was able to import images from this folder with no problem in LR4, LR5 is telling me that there are no images in the folder. I've double checked that all my import settings are normal and the same as LR4 and it doens't matter. No matter what I do, I cannot get LR5 to see that there are any images in this folder to import.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Antonio

"If the folder already exists in the Folder panel, select it and Choose Library > Synchronize Folder."
It doesn't exist in the Folder panel. It never has. It would mess up my workflow to have it as such. I only import from this folder.
Try (via finder) moving a few of the images in the folder to another folder that has been cataloged. Then synchronize that folder to see if the images show.
I did this and the images showed up fine, so there is nothing wrong with the image files.
Instead of invoking the Import Dialog first, drag an image from th Camera Roll folder onto the Library module or the Lr icon. That will bring up the import dialog. see if you get the same results.
Did this and it did not work.
Why this is strange is that I have no problem importing from the same folder in Lightroom 4. Something has changed here in LR5.
Here's another image of what is happening:

  • 244 random photos suddenly appeared in the wrong folder

I recently imported 8 photos into Lightroom 5.7 using the "2015-05-25 Folder Name" naming system, and I saw the 8 imported photos in the folder. No problems. However, after reopening Lightroom, the folder with 8 photos suddenly has 252 photos. There are 244 random photos from various years and various other folders which are also inside of my main "Photo Library Lightroom" folder. I had been assigning "key wordis" to photos last week, but I am not sure how that could have taken 246 random photos and "shoved" them into the wrong folder. Do I have to manually "refile" the "misfiled" photos, or is there a magic button to get Lightroom to fix this?

One thing that could explain at least most of the situation is that you did a synchronize at a top-level folder then had Move as your Import type instead of Add, as well as Don’t Import Suspected Duplicates UNCHECKED, and LR imported and moved all those photos to whatever your current destination was.
This does sounds like what might have caused the "Move" of 244 random files into the single new folder, but I don't think so.
If the 244 random files were previously imported into LR they would be not selected when doing a 'Synchronize Folder' operation on a top-level folder. 'Synchronize Folder' searches the selected folder and subfolders if 'Show Photos in Subfolders' is checked in the Library menu. Files that reside in the target folders on the HDD that are NOT currently showing inside LR will be imported.
If the 244 random files were NOT previously imported into LR then they would be imported if the 'Synchronize Folder' was performed on the top-level containing folder. Unfortunately I can't duplicate this as I only see 'Add' with the other options grayed out when importing files from numerous subfolders with files that are not showing inside LR. Here's what I see with 'Don't Import Suspected Duplicates' checked or NOT checked:
Even if I select 'All Photos' only the files that are "missing" inside LR are checked for Import. It's impossible to select any other files inside LR or force it to 'Move' the files to a new destination folder.
Steve, is there some mode or setting I'm missing that would allow selecting 'Move' when doing a 'Synchronize Folder' Import?

I have just connected my computer to my iPad to import photos to my iPad and have imported the wrong ones and wish to delete them. Does anyone know how I do this please. I am a novice at this as I have ony just acquired my iPad,

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Uncheck all of the albums that you want to remove under the Sync Photos From heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you are using iTunes 11 and you can't see the sidebar go to View>Show Sidebar from the menu at the top.

  • IPhone Deletes Exchange Emails To Wrong Folder

    Hello all!
I have a Microsoft Exchange mail account setup on my iPhone 4 (iOS 6.1) which works wonderfully, short of one aspect:  Emails deleted from my phone do not go to the accounts standard 'Trash' folder, but to a different 'Deleted' folder.  I can see no way to change this setting.  Any ideas?

Thanks Templeton.  This is the only definitive answer I've found anywhere.  Turns out my iPhone was correct and my other email clients are sending to the wrong folder!

  • Links default to wrong folder

Why is it when I go to relink a placed image in the Links pallette it always directs me to the wrong folder (not the one the image lives in but elsewhere). I believe that it is taken me to the last folder I navigated to. thoughts?

You now have a prefernce for where relink goes, the last folder you used to link, or the folder where the original link resides. It's in the prefs.

  • Photo drags to wrong folder

why does photo drag to wrong folder?

You question makes no sense - iPhoto does not "drag" photos anywhere - it works on a SQL database and controls the photo locations correctly - you never access them direcly but always use the provided tools to access the photos - click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.

  • The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - not finished with the install process

The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - I am at the part of the download/install process where the "Welcome" screen appears asking for me to agree to the license agreement.  Somewhere on your site, I read that they should NOT go to the applications folder but to the "Users" folder. Can/should I move/drag the folder with the dmg files into the "Users" folder"? If so, before or after I complete the install? I am running MAC OSX 10.7.4 on a MAC Mini.
Also, when the trial period is over, I will use the license number for the purchased software disks, should the dmg's/folders then be moved to the application folder or stay in the "users" section? I have Purvhased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10, but somewhere on your site it was suggested to download them instead and use the license code at the appropiate time. If someone can help with these questions, I would appreciate it. Thank you

    Hi,
In the Welcome screen, you can accept the license agreement and can go ahead with the installation. You will be asked for the serial number. If you don't have one, install it as a trial application. By default, it's installed in the Applications folder. However, you can change the installation folder in the third screen, if you have a reason. Please see the screenshot below:
After installing, you can't move application to a different directory by dragging. You need to uninstall and install it again in the folder of your choice.
    Thanks,
    Sunil
