LR5 Tetherd Capture does not work

Im an event photographer and just upgraded to LR5 and am having nothing but trouble with the tetherd capture. I am using a Nikon D800e on a PC windows 8 and after a few shots it quits working. Anyone have a solution as it appears Adobe does not.

Ok, received the recovery media today. 24 hours, it was fast!
Did a factory reset and all is working now! (at least all I could test this evening) Apparently I had all the wrong software in my Sprout.

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Quicktime plugin for screen capture does not work in flash player 11.2

I have created a quicktime plugin (it is .component file) for screen sharing purpose.
I have used quicktime framework for that. plugin is detected in flash player.
This plugin is working perfectly for flash player 11 and below.But,
It does not working in latest flash player 11.2.
I have seen following error on console -

"The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -8974.)".
Make sure that the formats of all video outputs are properly configured

The issue ended up being the change in resolution to my external monitor. Flash was unable to detect the proper coordinates of the color I was trying to select because I was running my monitor in HD mode rather than selecting an actual resolution from my monitor preferences. Changing the settings to an acutal resolution, instead of generic "HD mode" fixed the issue.

Video capture does not work Java 1.5 or 1.6

I could not run jmstudio on 1.5, but on 1.6 I could, and jmregistry says there is a device with a Locator "v4l://0" and jmstudio can display the video. Yet my old program that worked with Java 1.4 can not now capture the video any more, createDataSource(locator) in the code:

source = javax.media.Manager.createDataSource(locator);
throws NoDataSourceException, that says something about "Could not configure video device". Is the code bad? Or is there something other broken? JMFHOME is set correctly.

Where is your jmf.properties file? Do you have the performance pack installed?
Does JMStudio work. (if you're on linux w/ java 5.0 use: java -Dawt.toolkit=sun.awt.motif.MToolkit JMStudio)
My bet is that you don't have jmf.properties in your current dir or the camera hasn't been added to your properties.
Another idea:
try this before your code:

Using FW800 as 'scratch' disk for SD video capture does not work?

New iMac buyers beware - if you plan to capture video via FW400 (most SD camcorders do), you cannot capture directly to a FW800 disk. Workaround is to capture to your Mac HD first - there is no problem there.
When my FW800 external disk is mounted and I connect my camcorder via FW400, the FW800 drive keeps unmounting/remounting and is unusable. I noticed on Profiler that iMac groups the firewire devices in the same category (for FW800 and FW400) implying the bandwidth is shared and not independent.
I should have bought the Mac Pro.
Any suggestions?

Looby - yeah, I tried that - works for DV/DVCPRO NTSC (max write of 4MB/sec) but not for uncompressed 8-bit (max 21.52MB/sec) - I drop frames.
George - Yes, using FCP. Maybe, but even without FCP launched, and my OWC 2 drive external on FW800, when I turn on my camcorder on FW400, the drives unmount/remount continuously. Hmmmm... maybe it's the OWC? See below...
Noiseboy - Hmmm... interesting. Is your "lacie 250 triple" a single drive or multiple all in one chassis? My OWC is 2 drive RAID chassis configured as two independent drives - maybe that is the problem. I am going to try removing one drive.
Anyone else buy a FW800/400/USB2 RAID system in hopes to increase thruput? With the OWC I get a whopping 68MB/sec RAID-0 vs. 66MB/sec non-RAID. Bummer. Those advertising people should get what they deserve!

Screen Capture does not work

Just got a new iMac running yosemite. tried to make a screen capture using command shift 3 (and 4). Up jumps an alert box that says Your screen shot can't be saved. You don't have permission to save files in the location where screen shots are stored."
Where are they stored and how do I change the permissions and to what?

Ric,
Screenshots taking by using ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( 3 ) or ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( 4 ) are by default saved to the Desktop for your user. I'm not sure why you wouldn't have permission to save there. Either ( Right-Click ) or ( Control ) ( Click ) your desktop and select get info. At the bottom of that window you'll see a "Sharing & Permissions:" Section. Make sure your users name has "Read & Write" selected in the Privilege column. If you need to change it you can do so by clicking on the lock in the bottom right corner of the Get Info Window and authenticating as an administrator. Then change the Privilege column for your users name to "Read & Write".
Also while there make sure that in the Get Info Window the "Locked" option up in the General Section is unchecked.

MDT - Custom Reference Image does not work with Task Sequence, normal Windows 7 Enterprise Iso media works fine.

Our MDT server is acting strange!
I have previously had this system running without problem - i could both capture and deploy computers as is and no changes have been made to mdt.
But my latest capture does not work. When i capture my reference maching in my VM environment it completes without errors and i can import the latest wim file.
When i deploy the tast sequence, it install the custom Wim image, but it ends up with "login" screen as the administrator i have entered for the capture/deploy sequence, but it goes to stop at this point and applications is not installed.
If i change the ISO in the task sequence under Install OS step, to a clean Win7 install media then the capture completes and install applications.
I have also tried to:
Capture reference without password
Capture reference without Windows updates
Customsettings.ini, bootstrap, BDD.log and SMSTS.log to be found here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=ED5029A20300B814!365&authkey=!AALV1b2ubD0laEE&ithint=folder%2cini

Plug in my iPhone to Mac; image capture does not appear

Software OS X 10.8.5 (12F45) on MacBook Pro
iPhone: Version 7.1 (Is it an iPhone 5: LOL… I don't know! It's the newer taller, round one!)
When I plug in my iPhone to my MacBook… my pictures do not load like usual.
(Same thing when I put in a photo card)
Sometimes the device will appear; but import is not an option to select.
EVEN if I change the parameters down on the bottom left to Image Capture, iPhoto, etc.
Usually, my phone will appear on the left hand side and I am able to click Import.
However; this time NOTHING happens.
Can someone please help?
All the directions I have read through (dozens!) for the last 5 hours do not give the step on what to do IF the Image Capture does not work.
Same thing in iPhoto. Nothing. Nada.
I have plugged and replugged.
Tried different cords.

Capturing video via Firewire does not work on CS6

I recently installed 64 bits Windows 7.
The capture function in Premiere CS6 does not work with my panasonic camcorder NV-GS500
Windows recognizes the camcorder, but I cannot do anything with it in the Capture window.
This not an Premiere-specific problem , because also wit Nero I have the same problem.
I expect that the Windows7 driver for my camera needs to be upodated, but Panasonic cannot help me.
Is there anybody out in the Premiere community who knows a solution?

Windows 7 Changed the standard 1394 driver from XP which allows Win 7 to Throttle bandwidth on Firewire devices. This is why Ann mentioned the legacy driver which is basically the old XP driver. The bandwidth throttling causes allot of issues with certain cameras during the Handshake process which is why you often have deck control but no preview or primary video stream. If you follow the instructions in the link above or the paste below to set the Legacy driver for the 1394 controller , that will often resolve these issues. However some firmware on different manufacturers Firewire controllers include these C-State Bandwidth throttling sets so it still may not work. In that case you want to get a Firewire card with a TI chipset. The firmware on TI chips are clean and dont include the C-State changes.
Solution 6: Use the Legacy FireWire driver (Windows 7 x64)
Click the Windows Start button; type "device manager" into the Search box and select Device Manager
Swivel open the "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers" item
Right-click on your listed 1394 controller; select "Update Driver Software"
Click the "Browse my computer for driver software" button, followed by the "Let me pick from a list" button
Select the option that has "(Legacy)" at the end of the name; click Next and let Windows install the driver
Make sure you restart the system after you make the change to legacy. Also do not have the Firewire device plugged in when changing the driver to Legacy.
Close out of dialogs and retry capture'

Audio in video messages does not work

When I record a video message for someone, the audio does not work properly. It either doesn't work at all (silence is recorded), or cuts out after a 1-2 seconds. The problem seems to be confined to the MP4 video/audio encoder used by Skype for video messages.
My webcam (Logitech HD615) works properly when used for Skype calls (including the built in microphone), and when used in other applications. With other applications, I can also record videos and the audio is captured and encoded correctly. Although the problem does not seem to be the webcam, I have re-installled the webcam drivers and I have tried changing USB ports for the webcam.
I have re-installed the latest version of Skype and verified that Windows has the latest updates (I'm using Windows 7). I have tried re-booting a number of times when debugging this issue.
I have looked at the mp4 file that's created in the temp folder when Skype records the message - the audio is missing/broken regardless of what player I use. This, and the fact that the webcam works makes me believe that the problem is in the Skype use of the audio/video encoder, or the encoder itself.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

When you change the USB ports, make sure not to use USB 3.0 ports. I had a very similar issue with Logitech c920 webcam. Changing the port to USB 2.0 has solved the issue.

Slow/Fast/Reverse DOES NOT WORK

I have read other posts on this issue. When I attempt to apply this effect, it does not work. This is a new project in iMovie HD 6. Clips will not take this effect. It shows up in the preview fine but will not apply. Below is what I sent Apple. Any and all help (solutions) appreciated. Is anyone else using this effect successfully in HD 6?
I select a clip (it is selected), click on the Editing tab, then click on the Video FX tab, and then select the fast/slow/reverse option. I am correctly using the slider to slow the clip down just one tick past the default position. The effect shows up in preview but will not apply. The red progress line (that indicates the effect is being rendered) shows up for about a tenth of a second and then stops. I am using the latest version of iMovie (6.0.3). I have a Dual 2 Ghz G5 Tower. I have 1.5 GB of ram. I am using OSX 10.4 8. All my software is up to date.
The camera I am using is a Sony VX2000. Never had a problem with iMovie 4 and 5. I have two internal drives. I have an external drive that is for backups only. All three are Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) format. The drive i am capturing to is the original drive that came with with my computer. It is 160 GB. 147 GB is free. I keep this drive clean and only for current projects.
I did have some plugins installed for iMovie from GeeThree. They are the updated versions for Intel and PowerPC running OSX 10.4.8. Again, all software is up to date. I did remove those plugins from the plugin folder. Also, I have ran Disk Utility and permissions are fine. I have not removed the preference files yet (plist) because I wasn't sure which ones to remove.
A third thing I did was to create a new project (after unstalling the plugins, restarting, using Disk Utility), reimport some footage and see if the slow/fast/reverse effect would work then. It did not work. I then saved all my current work and saved to tape. I NEED THIS EFFECT TO WORK! Please who can solve my problem? Dinner is on me!! LOL!

After upgrading to Mavericks my scanner V600 epson does not work, I keep getting a message to re-install the software, but even then is does not work

I'm having the same issue. The scanning software doesn't launch, the scanner appears in system preferences after a few unplugs and plugins, and software update doesn't give me the recommended ICA update.
Also the Epson scan utilities aren't updated either and will be "released soon" according to here:

They recommend to use image capture (which is a joke) in the mean time or you could buy vuescan but thats not much better for some things.

Satellite M645-S4050: built in camera does not work correctly

My built in camera does not work correctly.
It does not have any kind of effect on and it captures pictures and videos as if some kind of thermal camera was on.
Also some videos I load up on youtube look like this.
I have been researching for an answer but can't find it, please help me.

All you can do is to test it with latest webcam driver.
Remove preinstalled camera software and install latest version offered on Toshiba download page.
If the same happen again visit nearest Toshiba service and show them how it looks like. Maybe the cam must be exchanged.
In the past I have used several Toshiba laptops with built in cam but I have never saw something lke this.
