LR5 upgrade from LR5 Beta

I'm brand new to lightroom and just downloaded LR5 Beta. i am truly impressed with the product (I've some limited experience with elements 7 for my digital photography - bit I can't believe I haven't used LR before).
So before i import all my photos into LR beta, making my changes etc, am I safe in assuming that when I purchase the product that my work done in LR5 beta will be retained and accesible in LR5?
Thanks!
-matt

If past performance is any indicator, then all of your work should carry over.  However, the release notes for the beta version indicated that you should not use it for production work because the images might not look just the same when the final product is officially released.  I am using the beta version, and will be using some of the images I have worked on in an upcoming photo book.  But I'm doing so knowing that I might have to make some adjustments later on.

    When lightroom first arrived on the scene, it was in the beta stage and had unlimited free access.  I liked it and when Lightroom 2 came out I upgraded from Adobe.   That was on my old computer whose hard drive has failed.  So now wish to install my Lightroom 2 on my new computer.    It asks for the Original serial # which I do not have access to.   Since my original version was a beta how can I get a serial # for a version 1.0 ?

  • I tried to upgrade from FF7 beta to FF7 and now I have no Firefox at all

    I was using the FF7 beta. When I saw that FF7 had been released, I downloaded and tried to install it, without uninstalling the beta first. That may have been a mistake. It got partway through the install process and then asked me to reboot the computer. After the reboot, my FF shortcut no longer worked ("Searching for firefox.exe"). I used another browser to download the installer again and ran it, only to be told that I needed to reboot my computer in order for a previous install to complete. I rebooted; no change. Attempting to remove the existing installation in Add/Remove Programs has not helped, though Mozilla Firefox is no longer listed there.
    I'm using Windows XP and my standard user account doesn't have admin privileges. This hasn't been a problem for Firefox until, perhaps, now. I've tried running the installer from an admin account as well, with the same result.
    Is there anything I can remove manually to fix this?

    OK... I found a Mozilla Support article - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The%20program%20must%20close%20to%20allow%20a%20previous%20installation%20attempt%20to%20complete - which says deleting xpicleanup.dat will solve the problem; but I guess that's out of date (or the presence of that file isn't the only cause of the bug), because there's no xpicleanup.* on my machine. However, elsewhere in this forum - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/786890 - I found a suggestion to install the new version somewhere other than the default folder. I did that, and it worked; and it even preserved my bookmarks, add-ons and previously-opened tabs. (If anyone finds this while trying to solve their own upgrade/install failure: choose Custom rather than Standard install, and just change the suggested folder name.)
    The only remaining sign of the problem is the icon in my Quick Launch area: if I try to use it to launch Firefox, I still get the error "Windows cannot open this file: firefox.exe.moz.delete". Having recorded that here for posterity, I'll be replacing the icon.

  • Upgrade from Yosemite Beta to full public release

    I'm struggling with updating my Macbook Air, I installed the public beta of OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) I now want to wipe clean my drive and install the full public release.
    Every-time I install direct from the App Store, Beta version 4, I've tried booting into recovery mode, Disk Utility and wipe the SSD, re-download guess what Beta 4.
    I've get and understand this is driven by the fact my recovery partition is Yosemite Beta, what I'm looking for is how can I overwrite this with the full general public release version.
    Passing note, I know there is not much difference only really finial build number etc. but its frustrating when I perform a clean install, open the app store to be treated with the same beta upgrades...
    any help would be appriciated, I have 2 other iMacs which can be used to create a bootable OS X USB or a networked install route should this be required.

    Download the Yosemite release from the App Store and save it. You will need to erase your hard drive and install anything from Snow Leopard to Mavericks before you will be able to download Yosemite. There is no way to upgrade the beta.

  • Upgrade from CRforVS2010 Beta to CRforVS2010 production results in errors

    Hello all,
    I'm looking for some help with an upgrade issue.  I am a newbie in this area so I apologize for my lack of knowledge.
    I'm taking over a web site with crystal reports for visual studio 2010.  The site is quite complicated.  The main site is located on one server(external web hosting) and the reporting feature is located on another (internal office hosting).
    When I upgrade to CRforVS2010 production release, the reporting feature bombed.  Giving me the following error:

  • Upgraded from LR3 Beta to LR3: Where are all of my Presets from Beta?

    I just installed the full version of LR3. What the heck happened to all of my presets from the LR3 Beta? It only found the ones from LR2.

    Nope, but I did find them.
    Apparently the default location is within the Pictures folder on my main drive. The Beta had them stored under (User)–>Application Support–>Adobe–>Lightroom.

  • Upgrade FB 4 Beta Projects to FB4 Premium

    Hi there,
    I just upgraded from FB beta 2 to FB4 Premium.  I'm using the Eclipse plugin.  When I installed FB4 Premium I just installed it into the Eclipse installation in which I had FB Beta 2 thinking FB4 Prem would over-write it.
    Well, it did over write it but now my projects that were using FB4 Beta 2 now do not recognize the "mx" Halo namespace.  The namespace I'm using is 'xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo'.  So, the projects will not build and I can't seem to track down where in my project properties I need to make changes.
    Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this?
    Thanks,
    Tami

    Found the answer here.
    The namespace I cited was changed to "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"

  • After upgrade from FB4Beta to FB4, web services no longer returning the same data types.

    I just upgraded from FB4 beta to the FB4 release. I'm still running the Flex 3.5 SDK and amnow  unable to use a lot of my web services. In the previous FB4 beta, I could generate the proxy classes from the WSDL and would get a ResultEvent that containted either my complex data type or an ArrayCollection of those complex data types.
    After I deleted and regenerated the services under the FB4 release, I get a ProxyObject or an ArrayCollection of ProxyObjects. No matter what I try I cannot map those ProxyObjects to my complex data type and it's driving me nuts! The oddest thing is that it didn't break all of my services, just some of them.
    I've tried several methods of mapping the ProxyObject to my custom data type but I get a null result every time and no errors.
    private function getContactsResult_handleResult(event:ResultEvent):void
        this._contactsList.removeAll();
        if (event.result is ArrayCollection)
            for each (var contact:ContactType in event.result)
                _contactsList.addItem(contact);
        if (event.result is ContactType)
            _contactsList.addItem(event.result as ContactType);
    Any suggestions?

    It looks like this was a combination of the upgrade,
    increasing use of ASP files and not having seperate application
    pools in IIS.
    We've just starting edding aspx apps, previously we only had
    one asp app so we only used the default app;icaton pool in iis.
    With the errors in the virtual directory started, we deleted and
    remade the VD with it's only application pool. That appears to have
    resolved the issues. The only concern I have is one of the VD did
    have it's own applicaton pool and still had the very slow response
    after the upgrade. But I'll see how this solution works for the
    future.
    The decesion was made to only have cf8 installed since that
    worked well on our testing server, so we did intend to overwrite
    the CFIDE folder.
    Thanks for checking this out and for your time on this.
    At this point I consider this closed. If something else comes
    up I'll start a new thread on it.

  • Can't access any photos in Lr after upgrade from Lr5 to Lr5.3.

    Just upgraded from Lr5 to Lr5.3.  Now can't access any photos in Lr.  I suspect a catalogue issue.  Any suggestions?

    "can't access" ??
    By what method are you trying to access these photos? What module of Lightroom are you in when you try this? What exact steps in Lightroom are you using ... please use the Lightroom name of the steps, as technically there is no step called "access", so I honestly have no idea what the step is that you are trying. What happens when you try to "access" the photos? Is there an error message?

    If you're on Windows, check out a free program called Audacity--it's fantastic.  With Audacity the process of converting a 48.000 kHz to 44.100 kHz is as simply as opening, changing the sample rate, and then exporting again, as an MP3.

    Ok, well you'll need to do something like this. Now this part is a little dependent on your database server:
           try {
                Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
                Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection(
                                                           "jdbc:mysql://{database-server}/{database-name}:3306?user={username}&password={password}");
                Statement Stmt = c.createStatement();
                int count = Stmt.executeUpdate(cmd);
                if(count>0) {
                     System.out.println("count: " + count);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
        }That was some sample code for a MySQL database.
    Note that the applet can only contact the server that is was loaded from, so you might want to do a getCodeBase() or something like that to get the server address.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • I just upgraded from LR3.3 to LR5 and can't print now....

    I just upgraded from LR3.3 to LR5 and now when printing on my Epson 2880 the image is printing only a portion of my image - not placing it properly on the page as it appears in the print preview. I have checked with Epson and they confirm all my page size specs and print preferences are correct - Epson says it's a software glitch. The image looks right on the screen in the print preview - yet places the image in a corner of the page when printing, cutting off half of it. Tried it both on 8.5x11 and on 13x19 with two images and had the same problem. I need this fixed ASAP thanks @Adobe @JaneSzaboPhoto

    Yes, I have the paper set up properly as 13" x 19" (or 8.5 x 11 when trying more than one size) and even reviewed this over the phone with Epson. All setting are correct and it looks right on the print preview - but shifts the image to the top left of the page and shrinks the image and cuts off the top of the image.....no matter what paper size.
