Lrcat size not changing

This may be a strange question but I've noticed that the size of my Lrcat has not changed in over a month in spite of adding and processing several new images (about 40 actually).  I am not seeing any problems when viewing images that I have adjusted in the past nor in LR's performance (v.2.1) but would think that the database size should increase as I add
data....???  Any thoughts?

I don't know anything specific about LR's database,  but other databases
I've worked with do two things that could result in an unchanging size over
the short term:
1)  When records are deleted from a database, the size does not shrink but
the space is available for new data to overlay where the old data was, so if
you've imported images and deleted some you may just be reusing the old
space.
2)  Databases can be allocated in blocks are pages of certain sizes so they
expand and contract in "chunks" of a particular granularity and 40-images
worth of data may not be a significant new amount, especially combined with
reason 1).
To test if either reason 1) or 2) is occurring, note your current database
size, then perform a Catalog Reorganization and see if it shrinks.  If so,
then add one new image and see if the size grows by a small amount.  If it
does not then the size is likely allocated in "chunks" and there is a little
extra slack space even after a reorganization.

  • Blu-ray Disc size not changing.

    I followed adobes workflow for final cut to encore cs4 by using compressor to create and MPEG2 Elementary stream Blu-ray file.
    now when i take the file (20GB) into encore the blu-ray project and my disc info always says 28 GB. I am trying to trim the end of the video so that the file would be smaller on the disc. I can do this fine with SD DVD's but in the blu-ray even if I make the timeline with only 5min of footage it keeps saying 28GB.
    is there something I am doing wrong?
    The file says don't Transcode.
    I am new to Encore and so far my experience hasn't been great with all the times its been crashing during importing assets and the "General Error" popups.
    I am using CS4 with the  latest patch

    I'm not really the most qualified to answer your question. Since the obsolescence of DVD Studio Pro and the ability to program menus and Steve Jobs saying that BD is a "bag of hurt" and Macs not directly supporting BD, there's been no point for me getting involved with BD creation. Media players (like Roku) will win (IMO.)
    Does the disc you made at least play from your Samsung burner?
    AVCHD discs are playable on blu-ray players and your final file size is small enough to fit on a regular DVD-r disc.  Have you tried just making an AVCHD disc on DVD-r?
    You can actually burn blu-ray directly from FCPX OR you can create an AVCHD disc (just select the appropriate Output Device from the Settings tab in the Share dialog.) Simply Share to Blu-ray (you might have to Add Destination from the Share popup menu.) Does burning directly from FCPX make a difference? (I'd hate to have you sacrifice a 25g disc though... that's why I'd suggest trying the AVCHD disc first.)
    [I'm sure other people have had better luck, but I have never had a Sony product that I could recommend to anyone. From old CD players to HD TV, everything Sony I ever bought turned to junk... except maybe one of the walkmans which I only keep around for extended blackouts (like hurricanes). After the TV, I finally learned my lesson. I would suspect the players as faulty before suspecting the disc as a coaster especially if it plays from the Samsung burner.]

  • Reduced SGA_TARGET, but SGA size not changing?

    I would suggest you to check v$sgastat to find out the exact SGA memory you are using currently instead of using "SHOW SGA" when when you set SGA_MAX_SIZE & SGA_TARGET initialization parameters.
    Below is a sample output from one of my test dbs. As you can see below my SGA size is only 1GB.
    SHOW SGA shows 2GB thats because I have set SGA_MAX_SIZE to 2gb ( which only means that I can grow my sga up till 2 gig , it may not be my current sga size).
    you can try increasing or decreasing SGA_TARGET and check memory usage on OS level to see the difference.

  • Font size not changing...

    I have a document with some body text that seems to be stuck at the wrong size. Even if I change paragraph types, sizes, hit Apply, Update All, etc., I can't get this one word to change to the right size. I could change it manually, but there are a lot of them in the document, and the whole point is that it's supposed to be automatic.
    Framemaker 7.1p114, Windows XP.
    Example of problem:
    http://flyingmoose.com/error.fm

    Saving the file as MIF and viewing that with a text editor (or the wonderful freebie MIFBrowse at http://www.grahamwideman.com/gw/tech/framemaker/mifbrowse.htm
    shows that there is a font size override applied to the problem word, which is why it doesn't get changed when you update the paragraph tag.
    Easiest route would be to use FM's find/change to find that specific character format
    <String `Reference characters (in '>
    <Font
    <FTag `'>
    <FSize 11.0 pt>
    <FLocked No>
    > # end of Font
    <String `parentheses'>
    <Font
    <FTag `'>
    <FLocked No>
    > # end of Font
    <String `) corresponding to elements '>
    > # end of ParaLine

  • Text Format size not changing results -- why?

    Seems like this should be pretty straight forward, and I must have done this many times before with success.  Am I missing something obvious?
    The text shows up, but it needs to display bigger than it is.  It's showing up consistently at about size 10, no matter what I set the size to, even "size = 100" ...
    public function StimLetter(data:Object) {
                   // format
                   var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
                   format.font = "Verdana";
                   format.color = 0x000000;
                   format.size = 100;
                   // text
                   stimText = new TextField();
                   stimText.text = data.strng;
                   stimText.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.CENTER;
                   stimText.defaultTextFormat = format;
                   addChild(stimText);
    data.strng is simply a String coming from an array.
    Am I missing something here?!

    perhaps it's relevant to mention that the code above is the bulk of a "StimLetter" class that is importing into another class, and processed this way:
    public var letterArray:Array = ["B", "C", "D", "F", "G", "H", "J", "K", "L", "M", "N","P", "Q", "R", "S", "T", "U", "V", "X", "Z"];
    // lots more code ...
    var stimID:int;
    var strng:String;
    for (var si=0 ; si < letterArray.length; si++) {
         stimID = si + 1;
         strng = letterArray[si];
         this["stimLetter"+stimID] = new StimLetter({stimID: stimID, strng: strng});
         this["stimLetter"+stimID].x = displayCenter.x;
         this["stimLetter"+stimID].y = displayCenter.y;
         stimArray.push(this["stimLetter"+stimID]);
         container.addChild(stimArray[si]);

  • Tables are deleted but database size does not change in sql server 2008r2

    Hi All,
    20GB Tables are deleted in my database but database size does not change and disk size showing same size.

    Hi ,
    I have ran the Disk usage by Top Tables report and Identified couple of tables with unwanted data for last 5 years. I have deleted the data for the first 3 years and then ran the Disk usage by Top Tables report again. When I compared the report before
    and after the data deletion, I have noticed certain facts which is not matching with what I know or learned from experts like you. The following are the points where I am looking for clarification:
    1.Reserved (KB) has been reduced. I was expecting the data Reserved (KB) will remain the same after the data deletion.
    2. The Data(KB) and Indexes(KB) fields have been reduced as expected. The Unused(KB) field have been increased as expected.
    I was expecting the total of Data(KB) and Indexes(KB) field space gained will be equal to the Unused(KB) field gained after deleting the data. But that is not the case. When I deducted(subtracted) the difference in  the Reserved(KB)(Difference before
    and after data deletion) field from the Total of space gained from the data deletion is equal to the Unused(KB) gained field value.
    I am not a SQL expert and not questioning but trying to understand whether we really gain space by deleting data from the tables. Also keen to get the concepts right, but my testing by deleting some records confused me.
    Looking ahead to all your expert advice.
    Thanks,
    Vennayat

    Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • Save of edited file does not change file size correctly

    I have QT pro 7.6 and have all the latest DirectX and drivers for my PC. I have a problem with file size reporting correctly for edited files.
    For example, I have three files: A.MOV (10mb), B.MOV (15mb), and C.MOV (25mb). If I load A and then copy B and C to the end of it, I can do a File Save As to create D.MOV as a self contained movie which shows estimated size as 50mb. And the saved file IS 50mb.
    However, If (after appending B and C to the end of A) I just do a "Save" command, A.MOV file size is not changed and still shows 10mb. The whole movie A-B-C plays correctly, but the file size is incorrect. Where is the rest of the data? I know the new A.MOV is self contained because I can delete B and C and it still plays all three segments. I'm concerned that if the file size is reported incorrectly there is the chance that the data will get lost in a future copy or move operation. Does anyone else experience this bug or is it just something in my PC?

    I stopped following this issue a few years ago, but as I recall, this is a known bug in the way PSE handles the writing of the tags to the photo files.
    I stopped following this issue because I switched to Lightroom which does not have this issue. Yes, you could do this with Exiftool and re-save the metadata from PSE, seems kind of cumbersome.
    Also, please note that if you Export the file from the PSE Organizer, as far as I know the proper tags should appear, so if you want the proper tags in your files, you could use this feature.

  • Bug in  9.1.1 release : In mail from iphoto changing size not shown in MB

    Could someone figure out how to report back to apple that we LIKE the 9.1.1 release that fixes it so you can select the size of your photo (smalll, medium, large, actual and optimized now)
    BUT the problem is that when you have preference MAIL FROM I PHOTO - the little "size of this email" indicator that shows under the mail template does not change when you change the size of the photo between the choices above. It always just shows one size (the big one) so they need to fix that next time.
    Thanks. I don't know how to report this to them. Signed - really happy so far with iphoto 11

    It's working for me. No matter what template I choose I get the size menu with 4 sizes to choose from, small, medium, large and full size. Whatever size I select ends up as the size showing in the menu.
    So there's apparently something amiss with your library or iPhoto. Backup the library and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto a try again..
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • JSX Save PNG for web, quality parameter not changing file size

    Hi
    I have a script that uses this snippet of code to save png files for web. But, no matter what number I change the quality, the resulting file size and image fidelity remains the same.
    I was wondering if I can save pngs for web at smaller byte size with JSX and how to modify the output settings.
    docName = sourceDoc.name;
    NamesaveRef = new File( outputFolder + "/" + docName );
    var NewfileRef = new File( NamesaveRef )
    var options = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb();
    options.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG;
    options.transparency = true;
    options.blur = 0.0 ;
    options.includeProfile = false ;
    options.interlaced = false ;
    options.optimized = true ;
    options.quality = 3 ;//THIS NUMBER DOES NOT CHANGE QUALITY IF CHANGED FROM 0.1 TO 100
    options.PNG8 = false ;
    sourceDoc.exportDocument(File( NamesaveRef), ExportType.SAVEFORWEB, options);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    Thanks for your help.
    Aubrey

    PNG does not have a quality setting. The quality property is used when exporting jpeg. That is why changing that property has no effect with PNG files.
    Photoshop now supports PNG compression but as far as I can tell you have to use Action Manager to save. I don't see a compression option when using saveForWeb.

  • Font size WILL NOT change.

    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.0
    I have a BMP file of a certificate and I want to have only certain areas where the user can write the details.  So, I did the following:
    Opened the bitmap.
    Forms - Add or Edit Fields... (selected 'No' - I do not want Acrobat to detect the field, because there are none).
    Saved the file.
    Forms - Form Tools - Text Field
    Drew the filed and gave it a name.
    Double clicked on it
    Clicked on Appearance.
    The default font is Helvetica.
    Changed the font size to 18.
    Clicked on Close
    File - Save
    I then open the file with Adobe  Reader 10.0.1
    The font size is ignore (it's tiny!!!!)
    How do I change the font size?????

    I am updating to the 9.4 version, as we speak.
    It turns out that the issue is that the number shown for the fount is it the NUMBER OR POINTS not the font size.  Changing it to Auto seems to sort the issue out.
    Thanks.

  • Hello ! how to change document sizes and use our own size (not A3, A2 ...) thank you !

    hello ! how to change document sizes and use our own size (not A3, A2 ...) thank you !

    Experiment. No harm in trying.
    If you are just starting to use Pages you need to make your own assessment given current events whether committing your work to a format and software given this support is a wise move.
    You also need to look at what will produce workable results. Particularly if your large posters are to be commercially printed and contain large bitmap (photographic) images.
    Always work backwards from your output. Ask your printer what they require to do their job.

  • Selection tool. now it does not change sizes

    Just installed the 14.1 Illustrator and realized that the selection tool (black arrow) does not change size of shapes / paths any more. I thought that there would be control in Preferences or View to activate it, but I have not been able to find it.  Please help find it.

    st,
    I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks).
    So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
    To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
    A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

  • CS6 not changing photo size?

    I have watched a few videos, on changing image size, in cs6, since when I tried it, the photo didn't change size at all. I could change it to 1 million inches tall, and it will stay the same size. I don't really know what to do. I've tried unlocking the default layer, and changing the canvas size and nothing seems to make this image change size. I want the image in the picture bigger,  am I even doing it right by going under image, and changing the image size, and hitting ok? That is all the tutorials say to do, yet nothing happens for my image.

    An image file just stores the image as arrays of pixels -- 1000 x 2000, 3000 x 4000, 5723 x 8557 or whatever.  Those pixel maps don't have any inherent "size".  The image file can also contain metadata that tells software how to interpret the pixels.  For example, the metadata could say 72 pixels per inch (ppi), 100 ppi, 360 ppi, 1000 ppi, or whatever.
    In Photoshop (and in most other pixel image editing programs), you can change the metadata to give the image a different "size" without changing the pixels at all.  For example, an image that's 1000 x 2000 pixels, at 100 ppi, will be 10" x 20".  If the ppi is changed to 1000 ppi, the same image will be 1" x 2".  And at 10 ppi, the image will be 100" x 200".  But the image pixels will be unchanged; they will just be bigger or smaller pixels.  Each one of these files will be 2 megapixels and will occupy exactly the same amount of file space (before compression, assuming 8-bit RGB, 6 MB).
    All of the foregoing is with "resample image" unchecked, which ensures no change to the pixel array data.  Now, if you want to grow (or shrink) the size of the image pixel array, you can do that in photoshop by changing the size with "resample image" checked.  This will add or subtract pixels, changing the image data.  So if you change a 1000 x 2000 image that's 100 ppi and thus 10" x 20", by changing the image size to 1" x 2", with resampling checked, the data will be shrunk to give you a 100 x 200 image.  90% of the data will disappear.  Your image will be 1/10 the size in terms of data and pre-compression file size.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling unchecked, you would still have a 100 x 200 image, which would have 10 ppi resolution --  a much crappier image.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling checked, you would get a 1000 x 2000 image with 100 ppi resolution, but it would still be a crappy image because 90% of the pixels would be newly created through interpolation, not the pixels in the original image.
