I was in Windows explorer to open an old catalog with a right click-open and the advice that this wasn't a compatible catalog for Lr4 appeared.
Checking in the registry HKCR
AdobeLightroom.lrcat has the shell open command referencing Lightroom 4
The install may not have overwritten Lr3.6 but it did take over some file management features.

I did a fair amount of testing with importing each of the files individually as the results were rather odd and I wanted to make sure what report is correct. It would appear that its the problem is with the compact flash card I was using. I came to this conclusion as the problem was with only the first three files on the CF card. After repeated testing I consistently have problems with reading the first 3 files on the card with LR4 on OSX, but I can read the card with LR4 on Win7 and LR3 on OSX (and I can repeat these results consistently). I also was able to bypass the problem by copying the files to the disk myself and then importing them either individually or as a group with LR4 on OSX. When I did this I saw no problems of any sort.
I did run a CF testing program and it would appear that it recognizes the card as an 8GB card but can only test less than 4 GB and reported FAT cluster errors.
Does this make sense that different versions of LR can see different results? it suggests to me that LR has its own routines for reading CF cards?

Imesh has taken over. Wont get out. Has taken over my homepage.

I downloaded imesh to get access to more music. It has now taken over my computer like a virus. I have w XP and have removed it out of the add/remove section of the computer. CNN is my homepage, but since downloading It, cannot get my hompage back. Everytime I click on MF to get my home page, the imesh search comes up instead.

PDF Complete has taken over my printer

I just purchased a Pavilion p6-2127c computer, running Win7, and an HP Photosmart 6510 printer. Everything has been working great, up until PDF Complete installed. I don't want to uninstall it, but it's now taken over my default computer such that it is now called "PDF Complete", and anything I try to print, it's trying to turn into a .pdf. How do I make this stop? I just want my printer to be my default, plain old 6510 printer. Help, please.

It sounds like the PDF Complete program has become the default printer. This can easily be changed as long as the printer is currently installed on the computer.
Click on Change your default printer to view a video and to get steps on how to change the default printer.
Essentially, you will need to do the following steps that are listed in Microsoft's document:
1. Go to Start>Devices and Printers
2. Right click the printer and select Set as Default Printer.
This should now put the check on your printer instead of PDF Complete.
Alternatively, you can manually select your printer when printing. I do not recommend this approach as it can be cumbersome, but it can be helpful to know how to when you want to print to something other than the default printer.
When you select print, you should get the following window (photo provided by Microsoft):
You would click on what it is you want to print to. For example: If your printer was set to default and you wanted to save it as a PDF, you would select PDF Complete to accomplish this task without changing what the default printer is.
Both of these options will work, but I recommend setting the printer as the default and just choosing PDF Complete manually when you want to save as a PDF instead.

BearShare has taken over browser page. How do I get rid of it?

I stupidly download BearShare. I have uninstalled it in all the usual places but it has taken over the firefox opening page of Google with a BearShare one. The problem is not on the laptop I am using but on a new Acer laptop with Windows 7. Help!

The safest and most thorough way of cleaning it out of your system is to download Revo Uninstaller, run it in advanced mode and press delete all when prompted. Do NOT go messing about in your registry unless you are a real expert. The other way is to go into system restore and tell your computer to restore to a date & time before you downloaded Bearshare. Just remember that any software you installed since that date will be deleted so back it up first. Good luck. Bearshare is a pain in the Jacksy!

I cleared out my MAC address book and began using my AOL email account. It took a few days and then my AOL email account was infected and has now been send out malicious email to all my contacts for over a month. It has also infected my iPhone--I am no longer able to send or receive emails on my iPhone. Also, once the Trojan Horse began using my AOL email it completely blocked me from using my MAC account by sending never ending popups asking for my email password to access my MAC email account, but it never accepts my pass word. The TH has also slowed down everything on my computer. It's like I am working on an old PC with dial up connection instead of the high speed digital connection that I have. The little color wheel spins constantly as I wait for sometimes over a minute for a page to pull up. If it pulls up at all. I have tried to use the 2 disks that came with my computer to completely remove everything on my computer and then reinstall all the programs, but I am not allowed to sweep my computer clean. I thought maybe my disks that came with my computer were defective so I called Apple and they sent me 2 new disks. I am not able able to clear my computer with the 2 new disks either. I have done this before successfully so it's not something new to me. I do remember when I believe my computer became infected: I had googled an unusual sewing term, and I was opening what appeared to be legitimate sites, when all of a sudden a pop up appeared that said that my computer had been infected. I immediately shut my computer off, but it was too late. I downloaded a virus program for Mac, and it has never found a virus or problem at all. I think it is part of this Trojan Horse, but I am unable to delete it from my computer. It refuses to uninstall. The Mac Trojan Horse is real and it is terrible. Install ClamXav and run a scan with that. It should pick up any trojans.

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.

Firefox has taken over my computer to the extent that I can't get out of firefox back to my regular homepage and moreover I can't even log out or shut down.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. There are some instructions that take time with some attention to detail to attempt and also remove all parts of the genieo and other adware malware bad content that come with visiting or downloading a variety of web sites which may spread their ilk to those who unknowingly or unwittingly get downloads or install content that has been doctored with some untoward idea in mind. Some of the posers do this to disrupt or sell more dysfunctional cures to their created mischief. The cure (incl their uninstaller) may be as bad as the problem.

The browser issue is covered under one of the topic areas, as that may also include a re-direct device where an extra button or home page to junk keeps loading. Incorrect removal of the badware may cause Safari to fail. However, you can get use a different browser to get information such as visit the above site, or here, etc.
I do not know if the techs or genius at Apple Store would be able to remove the problem. One way it to erase everything on the computer, and start all over, and lose all your stuff. You should have a backup of your created content on a drive external to your computer, in addition to TimeMachine backups, for restoration purposes; this done before an issue strikes. The methods of removal are covered in the linked pages above.
Another way, as suggested in detail by Linc Davis, can be followed and perhaps resolve the issue, too; at some point this topic thread will be seen by more than a few people. This is not a new topic here.

I recently updated Firefox and something called Fantistic Games has taken over my homepage and I can't get rid of it.

I used to get a field of 9 options to open when I opened a new page by clicking on the + button on the right side of the Search tab. After I updated Firefox a couple of days ago, my homepage had been taken over by something called "Fantasti Games". I can't find it anywhere to uninstall "Fantisti Games". I now have Google come up as my homepage when I open Mozilla Firefox, but each tab that I open comes up with the "FantastiGames" search engine. I need to get rid of that from my computer and revert back to what I had before, which was when I opened a new tab, I got nine large icons on the screen that gave me the choice of common sites to go to (such as AOL, YouTube, Weather.com, Google, etc.). Please tell me how to uninstall "FantastiGames".

This is embarrassing. It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
# At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
# In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
# Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
# Click the remove button.
# Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

iTunes will need to be set up on your computer however you can set up a new Apple ID to use for your iPhone. Really all you need to do is Assign a new Apple ID to your iCloud account.

After you do that, on the device you want to assign a new iCloud account go: Settings > iCloud > Delete Account and then sign in with the new Apple ID.
NOTE: This does not effect iTunes, all of your devices can continue to use one shared iTunes account under your original Apple ID for downloading apps and backups. This simply gives iCloud a place to sync the individual devices information and will stop iCloud form merging all the information, such as contacts, with all of your devices.

Sounds like a bogus pop up. In any case power down your Mac, your modem, your router. Then power back up in 1 minute sequence; modem, router, Mac.

How do I get rid of a search engine that has taken over home page?

Search.US.com has taken over my hone page and everything else it can. I have tried all the suggestions available to me by the help section. I have went so far as to delete cookies. This is very invasive. I looked at restoring the system but have few options for recovery points and they don't include the search engine download. I removed the add on it came with as well. I had removed the search engine in add/remove programs and was stupid when it asked if I wanted the default settings restored. I said no. I'm afraid I am j pretty stupid when it comes to software. I hope someone can help me. Thank you for your time in this matter. ps I put what I thought was relevant in the bottom box. I had not seen this before. I tried to modify it but couldn't.

I finally got a hold of someone at that search us.com. They gave me this link to try and solve the problem. I have already reinstalled firefox but it might help someone else out. And it's much simpler. I haven't tried it but they said to get a hold of them if it didn't work. the link is:
