LRT224 / 214 Wake On Lan support?

Hi, My question is, once logged in LRT224 / 214 management interface, is there a Wake On Lan support available? Like in DD-WRT. I will need run my machine from distance and then connect with remote desktop.

You can either port forward the magic packet port to your PC or use the multicast address to set the magic packet to all computers on your LAN.

  • Wake-on-lan support?

    Hi,
does MacPro support wake on lan - "magic packets"?
I am trying to wake up MP from sleep from another location (because of Apple Remote Desktop):
http://www.dslreports.com/wakeup (there are many sites like this)
Wake for Ethernet network administrator access is enabled in the System Preperences pane.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks!
edit: maybe this can solve the problem, but I don't know how to use it:

Regarding the different remote wake-up behaviour within or after a certain amount of time since when the machine went to sleep, this is most likely related to entries in the ARP tables of some router expiring. After some time that a router doesn't see traffic for your machine's IP address, it forgets that data for that address has to be forwarded on that physical port. Therefore, when trying to wake up a machine from remote, the "magic packet" does not pass through the router to the machine at all.
This can be solved by introducing some always-on low-power programmable appliances that can generate the magic WoL packet from inside the LAN on request. For example, routers that can mount OpenWRT ( http://wiki.openwrt.org/TableOfHardware?action=show&redirect=toh ), e.g. La Fonera and some Linksys, can do this after installing the "wol" package.
There is still the problem that despite the supported features of the Apple Remote Desktop, wake on lan does not wake up the machine when it's completely shut down and not just in sleep mode.

  • Does P35 Neo2 FIR have Wake-On-Lan support?

I just got a P35 Neo2 FIR but I can't seem to wake it up from the LAN. Does it have WOL-support?

I can't seem to find any settings in the bios which indicates wake up on the LAN interface. There are settings for keyboard, mouse etc. but none for LAN. Which menu is it listed in?

  • Does the P67A-GD55 support Wake-On-Lan?

    Hello,
i would like to by an MSI mainboard (specially the P67A-GD55 one) but i don't know if it Wake-On-Lan support. This feature is very important for me because i want to wake my pc from the internet. I founded nothing on the specifications. Do you have any idea? Is there an option in the UEFI to activate/deactivate Wake-On-Lan?
    Thanks in advance.

You should find answers to most of your questions there.
But not the one about WOL   :(

  • Support for Wake On LAN

Would like to request the following changes (could make it more easy to support WOL):
    /etc/config.d/wol:
    # Comment out the following line to support Wake On LAN
    WOL_ARGS="-i"
/etc/rc.shutdown (or wherever there's a reference to 'halt -i' or similar):
    . /etc/conf.d/wol
    /sbin/poweroff -d -f -h $WOL_ARGS
    /sbin/reboot -d -f $WOL_ARGS
    [Edit]
    /etc/rc.d/network:
    . /etc/conf.d/wol
    if [ -n $WOL_ARGS ]; then
    /sbin/ifconfig ${1} down >/dev/null 2>&1
    fi
    Thoughts?
    Thanks

You should submit a feature request for this on the bugtracker. Here in the forum, there is no guarantee that the right devs, or any devs, will see it.

if it has no WOL feature in bios then it does not, but it can still be done if you etc enable WOL in windows and then put laptop in sleep it can be waked from there remotely but not from power off state.

  • Does MSI Wind Box DE220 support wake on lan?

I have searched and contacted resellers but have not yet found any evidence that the MSI Wind Box DE220 support wake on lan.
Can someone here please confirm if it does or if it does not?
    Thanks in advance!

You could wait a long time for an answer here, or you could try asking MSI directly:
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
Generally, people come here looking for answers to problems. Once they get their answer, unfortunately many never come back. As the Wind Box DE220 is not a very common product, not many people have come here regarding it.
None of the forum staff here work for MSI, and none of us have this item readily at hand to test for you, sorry.
I'm pretty sure it should be possible though; modern mainboards typically don't have a specific 'Wake-On-LAN' option, as it is controlled by the operating system, as Bas states already, it is configured through the LAN device's properties in Device Manager.

  • Does 880GM-E41 support Wake-On-Lan?

I've been through the manual at 880GM-E41:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/880GM-E41.html
But it makes no mention of supporting Wake-On-Lan.  It shows a BIOS picture and support for all other type of wakes, but not Wake-On-Lan.  A search of the internet gives inconclusive evidence.
    Any feedback appreciated!
    Thanks!

Modern mainboards do not have a specific 'Wake on LAN' option in the BIOS.
Most recent MSI boards, including yours, use an integrated Realtek PCI-E network controller. So in BIOS, you need to enable 'Wake on PCI-E', and then configure the driver properties for the network controller in Windows.

  • Supports GT780 wake-on-lan and wake-on-usb?

Does the GT780 support 'Wake-on-lan' and 'wake-on-usb'? Especially the last one is important for me as I will use the laptop 99% with closed lid. So I would like to be able to wake it just by pressing a key on the keyboard.
    Thanks!!

Have a look and see what settings there are in the 'Power Management' section of BIOS setup.
I don't own the computer yet. If the wake-on-lan and wake-on-usb works, I'm gonna buy the computer. But: I did find the manual on the internet (I did my research before posting), but it didn't say anything on wake-on-lan en wake-on-usb. So, I hope somebody from MSI or somebody that owns the computer can answer this?

  • Wake On Lan (over Internet) support for WRT610N

    Dear Linksys/Cisco
Please please,we need Wake On Lan  (over Internet) support for the WRT610N.
Whether it's implemented with static arp, or by allowing port forwards to the broadcast address doesn't really matter I guess.
Please consider this for inclusion in a future firmware upgrade.
    Best regards
    Henrik Schack

Linksys routes don't support WOL. It's not possible to enter static entries into the router's ARP tables which would be necessary to have permanent access to the IP address of the computer. Basically, after some time of inactivity the router "forgets" the MAC address of your computer...

  • Dv6-7014nr Does it support Wake-on-LAN, WoWLAN, or Wake on USB.?

I am not finding Bios settings for any of these features. Inn fact the BIOS looks prettypaltry.  Am I missing a hidden menu or something or is the BIOS really that bad feature-wise?  I found the USB "allow this device to start the computer" setting in the USB device powermanagement settings but I can't select it.  Is there a way to enable that setting?

wake-on-lan must be enabled already and no option for customers to configure in BIOS because these are consumer units and not many users use such options on this platform.
I can see that network driver in device manager gives you option to configure Wake-on-Lan under device propertties>Advanced tab. several options such as wake-on-lan magic packet - Shutdown wake-on-lan etc...
yes the options may be limited to driver used. if its factory image or drivers are used from hp.com; that should give you options.

  • Wake on Lan not working properly?

So as far as i'm aware Windows 8 supports wake on lan whilst the device is either in sleep or hibernate (not completely off) and so far it works fine when in sleep mode (no randomly turning on like lots of people have been saying) but nothing happens when in hibernate. Is there any particular reason why this may be?
    Lenovo G780
    Windows 8.1
Using unified remote (full) to control power options (tried in both administrative and not)
Qualcomm Atheros AR8162/8166/8168 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30). Set to recieve packets
and i think i've made all of the nessasary changes to BIOs and my router (Belkin) to allow WoL (seeing as it works when sleeping)

    Hallo Forumreaders,
WOL (Wake On Lan) works only through a router when it is capable to forward to broadcast LAN-IP-adres.
In my consideration only the good old BEFSR41 is capable to forward to the broadcast adres for example 192.168.1.255 (SM: 255.255.255.0)
Because there is no IP-adres in powerless PC's the "Magic Packet" (which WOL realy is) MUST be send onto your LAN by means of the broadcast-adres.
Other routers are  NOT able to sumit a adres like 192.168.1.255 in a subnet of 255.255.255.0 because they are NOT allowed to use any broadcast-adres.(they can get trouble by means of a broadcaststorm!!!)
So do not get rid of that old router you have!!
    More info;
The "Magic Packet" contains the MAC-adres of your recipient host and wil trigger the powersupply of that PC.
For Internet WOL, try http://www.dslreports.com/wakeup, submit your IP-adres of your home, your MAC-adres of your PC and klick on "Wake up".
Looking for an application for on a USB-stick, download the small tool; http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui.aspx
    Hope I helped,
    Greetings

  • Wake on Lan works on my MacBook Pro, not on my iMac...

Hello everyone, with all these threads about the problem, I wanted to start a new one to make it clear, with all information you may need in order to help me out.
I've got a MacBook Pro '15 and an iMac 21.5', both are running (clean install) OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2, both are up to date with the latest updates, both have the same apps, both have the same settings in "system preferences", and of course the same settings in "sharing" options.
My iMac is connected to my 5GHz network from my Time Capsule while my MacBook Pro use the 2.4GHz network.
Before going to bed, I leave both my Macs turned on, after 10min they go to sleep automatically. In the morning I can wake up my MacBook Pro from my iPhone or iPad with a screen sharing app.
The iMac doesn't respond at all. It stays in sleep mode. I can leave my MacBook Pro asleep for a week, it always responds. The iMac responds after a few hours but after 6 or 8 hours it seems to be completely asleep and doesn't respond to anything. If you think it's about the iPhone/iPad's app, when I try to wake the iMac from my MacBook Pro with "Back to my Mac" I have the same results.
I tried to connect my iMac to the 2.4GHz network: same problem.
OF COURSE "WAKE ON LAN" is activated in my system preferences.
I made a reset of the PRAM, the cache and the SMC on my iMac: same problem.
I type sudo periodic daily weekly monthly in the terminal and sudo dscacheutil -flushcache: same problem.
I tried everything I may have found in the forums or on this Support from people having the same issue: same problem.
I even tried to set the iMac with the same sleep mode as my MacBook Pro: same problem.
    PLEASE HELP ME!

I understand that, but if your router is not an Apple AirPort Base Station then it introduces an element of uncertainty. Apple has implemented many changes related to wireless networking recently.
You are complicating matters by changing networkoversleep:
networkoversleep - this setting affects how OS X networking presents shared network services during system sleep. This setting is not used by all platforms; changing its value is unsupported.
Solving problems like this requires that you simplify your network environment and eliminate its unknowns. Using third party routers and making unsupported changes runs counter to simplification.
The iMac stays connected to the Time Capsule about 6 hours during sleep. Then it dissapears...
The iMac wakes periodically (every few hours) to inform your router of its network presence for Wake on LAN demands. Try changing your router's DHCP lease period to something longer than a few hours. For a home environment, a few days is more appropriate. This may not solve the problem, but it is better than making unsupported changes to your system.

  • HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP Mystery Wake on LAN

The printer wakes unexpectedly, and unpredictably on the network. I cannot determine what, if anything, is waking it. The printer wakes and goes into calibration without any users on the network and without any print jobs. Mystery wake on LAN.

The HP drivers won't load on my 10.10.x (10.10.1 thru 10.10.4) OSX macbook pro.  The install says the version of OSX isn't supported even thought I've tried 1.5.0 dmg file which is for 10.7 and greater.  I did the math and I believe 10.10.x is greater than any version of 10.7.  I also tried HP Easy Scan and it doesn't even see my scanner.  Printing works fine, but I scan a lot of paper.  Also, I've found that the Mac OSX version of the HP software (when it still worked) creates obscenely large PDF files.  I can get around this by opening Adobe Acrobat Pro and re-saving the file as a reduced file size with the same name.  I can take a 25 MB file HP creates and get it down to about 300KB or so.  I found a way around all this but you won't like it.  I've loaded Parallels (installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit) and installed the windows client in my parallels image.  The windows client works fine.  Not a solution I prefer, but this is an HP issue not an apple issue .... HP hasn't put out a driver for this printer in the better part of 3.5 years.  Lastly, I'm not hooking up a USB cable to my printer/fax/scanner .... what's the point of having a dhcp network capable printer if I have to hard wire to a PC? I've used HP printers since the mid-'90s, but I guess it's time to find a company that supports OSX.
