LRT224 load balancing, switching between circuits "resets" secure sites

We have noticed a problem with certian secure websites when load balancing is enabled on the LRT224. The company has a DSL and cable circuit, static I/P's on both. Running Speedtest shows a 30m pipe with load balancing enabled, about 16m on each when off. When utilizing load balancing, if accessing banking, government or otherwise more secure sites, those pages will reset to the login consistently.  If turning off load balancing and picking either circuit, this does not occur. We have 2 identical LRT224's and the both do it. I have contacted Linksys customer support to no avail. Firmware is up to date. This is entirely replicateable on both units and very consistent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chris

chadster766,
i have updated the firmware as directed and the result is the same. as i indicated, it's easily reproduced by just switching the router to a single circuit (fail over mode) and those sites do not reset. i have 2 exact units and they both perform the same. for a quick fix, i just turn off load balancing, perform the banking functions and then return it to load balancing. not hard just doesn't seem this revision addresses the problem but thank you for the assistance to date.Did you enable Sticky Load Balancing?Use the below link to make sure the feature is functioning properly. • LRT224 Load Balancing with only one ISP

I found that the LRT224 Load Balancing really increased performance on my network with a single Internet Service Provider.
Also if your ISP doesn't limit the number of Public IP Addresses your ISP Device can provide to one. You can get two Public IP Address for additional port forwarding and other uses.

In my case I noticed an immediate improvement in overall performance. When I do a "speedtest.net" test the speeds are always at the maximum throughput even with other heavy users on the internet. Which wasn't the case before. I suspect that the Dual WAN connections are doubling the amount of available full speed connections due to the load balancing.
It's interesting to watch the ethernet port lights on the ISP Modem blinking like mad as the LRT224 pumps data through the two ethernet ports.

  • LRT224 Load Balance "dumb" DHCP router setup... HELP!

    Hi
I'm trying to set up a LRT224 with two ADSL modems connected to one network with load balancing.
I'm not going to use vlan or vpn at all.
All I need it to do is be a "dumb" router that combines the speed of both Internet connections.
Working mode is set to Router
LAN 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 (I changed the LAN ip range)
WAN 1 and 2 gets IP, default gateway and DNS trough DHCP from the modems.
    Wan 1: IP 192.168.1.65 Gateway 192.168.1.1 DNS 192.168.1.1
    Wan 2: IP 192.168.2.38 Gateway 192.168.2.1 DNS 192.168.2.1
    DHCP setup:
    Device IP: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP Server
    Range 192.168.0.50/254
    DNS: Use DNS from ISP
    Dual Wan:
    Load Balance
I'm no IT expert at but I have set up a few routers before that was close to "plug and play"
My problem is that connected computers indicate that they are connected to Internet, but I'm not able to access any websites.
When trying to use windows troubleshooter it indicates that there is a DNS problem.
I'm not even able to connect to the modems.
Installed latest firmware and done a fabric restore.
Network is built as follows (still working as I'm not running anything trough the lrt224 before I can get it to work)
ADSL Modem with built in DHCP and Switch --> Switch --> Ubiquiti Unifi AP --> User
Some of the AP's is connected via Ubiquiti NanoStation (wireless bridge between 4 houses, works great)
Any idea how to get this to work or do I have the wrong router?

    I recommend:
    Modem1 (192.168.1.1)=> LRT WAN1 (192.168.1.254)
    Modem2 (10.10.10.1) => LRT WAN2 (10.10.10.254)
    LRT WAN1 SN (255.255.255.0)
    LRT WAN2 SN (255.255.255.0)
    LRT WAN1 GW (192.168.1.1)
    LRT WAN2 GW (10.10.10.1)
    LRT WAN1 DNS (192.168.1.1)
    LRT WAN2 DNS (10.10.10.1)
    System Management => Load Balance
    LRT DHCP Device IP (192.168.200.1)
LRT LAN => Switch => Ubiquiti Unifi AP => User
Nothing other than the LRT's connected to the modems.
If the modems DHCP is set to 192.168.1.x and 10.10.10.x subnet 255.255.255.0 then DHCP setting will work on the LRT WANs.

  • LRT224 Load Balancing and Link Failover

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have recently set up the LRT224 with two different ISP's. I am having problems configuring the Load Balance and Link Failover.
When I have Load Balance selected only one ISP (WAN 1) is active, the other (WAN2, ISP modem) remains inactive. Why is Load Balance only engaging one ISP?
When I have Link Failover selected, even with attempts and seconds configured to one second, and WAN1 has packets lost, it doesn't switch over to WAN2.
I am not tech savey but any help will be greatly appreciated so that I can get both ISP's active with Load Balance or at least have Link Failover work almost instantly. Thanks.

    Hi @BSue2015,
If both WAN1 and WAN2 are already getting IP Addresses from your ISPs then we can say that Load Balance is working. To check it further, do a speed test by going to http://www.speedtest.net. Dual WAN connections are doubling the amount of available full speed connections due to the load balancing. The speed should have its maximum throughput even if you have several users on the network.

  • LRT224 Load Balancing Servers

I get the process of load balancing outbound traffic, and even protocol binding so that servers send out traffic only on a specific WAN port. What I do not get is how to load balance INBOUND traffic also to those servers and ensure that the servers response goes out on the interface that it originated.
I have two 50mb internet connections from different ISPs. Each with a static IP address.
The web server is on a private IP address with appropriate forwarding.
The web server IP address is bound to WAN2 which is the DNS address of the web server.
All works perfect. Outboud traffic from the web server exits from the appropriate WAN port while residual traffic is load balanced.
Now, I want to add an A record to the DNS for the web server so that INBOUND traffic ot he web server is balanced and providing a redundant service. However, the protocol binding should not allow any outbound connection through WAN1. Right?
So my question is, is this setup impossible? Do we forget the protocol binding and hope that the outbound responses from the server exits through the originating port? Is there another method? Or, do I need a more advanced router?
I do not even want to consider DMZ even as this is impossible since I am utilizing both ports as WAN ports. Anyone have any suggestions to do this?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Sorry I misunderstood.
IMO for this to work on an LRT224 you would need:
A second network adapter in the Server and the Server configured to answer requests on both NIC's
Protocol Binding the second Server NIC to the other WAN port
A DNS Hosting Service that support DNS Round Robin or you would run your own DNS Server with Round Robin DNS capabilities
These days I'm seeing DNS propagation with namesecure only taking a few hours instead of the advertised 96hrs.

  • LRT224 Load Balancing

Hi there just wondering can the LRT224 handle load balancing a 130/7 and 107/30 connection. Thanks

    Hi @Spencer1990,
I agree with Chadster. It should be able to. According to the Specifications of the LRT224 router, IPsec VPN throughput (110 Mbps), Maximum NAT throughput (900 Mbps), Maximum concurrent connections (30,000).
I got it from this link: http://www.linksys.com/en-apac/business/products/routers/lrt224
    Thank you.

  • How do I load balance TFTP between two servers and a client on the same subnet?

    Hi,
I have trawled through several documents and tried umpteen different configs, all to no avail. I have a PXE boot client trying to access a boot file via TFTP from a couple of TFTP servers on the same VLAN/subnet. For HA purposes I want to load balance the two TFTP servers.

Can anybody point me in the right direction please. The devices are ACE 4710 running A3(2.3).
    Thanks

    Try using the following configuration:
Note: Please make sure to configure also a udp probe to probe udp port 69, in case the application is down.
You need to configure a management policy on the interface when using a UDP probe.
That is because, when port 69 on the server will be unreachable, the server will send an ICMP unreachable.
ACE will consider a udp probe as "failed" only when it sees ICMP unreachable.
Without a management policy-map, the ICMP unreachable message will be dropped.
Also, add an ICMP probe to the rserver because udp probe will not be enough when the physical interface will be down.
That is because UDP is a connection-less protocol. To consider a UDP probe successfull, ACE need to see NO answer from the server in respose to the probe.
The ACE will not see any answer from the server when the interface is down and thus, will consider the probe as "sucessful".
With ICMP probe attached to the rserver, you also test the reachability of the server and not only the UDP port.
Here is the configuration (of course, you can chage the names of the of the objects to the name you are using if you want) :
access-list ALL line 10 extended permit ip any any
    probe udp TFTP
      port 69

  • Keeping Samples loaded while switching between songs?

    Hello Logic Lovers,
I have saved two different versions of the same piece using the same audio instruments, and would like to quickly A-B them without having to export everything as audio. I opened up both files at once, so I can switch back and forth, but unfortunately every time switch, logic wants to reload all my samples, even though they are the exact same between the two songs!
Is there any way to keep EXS from reloading the same sounds again? I know this has to be a feature, but cannot seem to find it in the help menu. Thanks in advance for your help.

There is an option for the EXS24:
in the GUI click on "options" and choose "preferences..."
there you can enable the option "keep common samples in memory".
    cheers

  • Is there auto load balance  between 2 active webi services?

    Hi ,
I have not seen any kind documentation from SAP whether BOBJ can auto load balance requests in round robin fashion between 2 or more webi services.
The only theory or belief that i see & hear is that upon reaching the max connection threshold  of one webi service, bobj will start diverting the next requests to second webi service.
So now i am looking for some kind of clarification on whether auto load balance happens between multiple webi services in round robin fashion or not.
Please share if any one has idea about this.
    Thanks,
    Srikar

Thanks to everyone who tried to respond to my question.
But i just got below response from SAP:
    =====================================================
I would like to inform you that CMS distributes the load (jobs) to
servers according to the server availability (maximum jobs allocated
to individual server). This is a generally how load is balanced
between CMS and various job servers and processing servers.
    =====================================================
Now i am more confused. I personally did some little testing by creating 2 webi services and tried to view multiple webi reports. What i observed is  it does pick up different webi services only while at the start of report viewing. But once it picks up perticualr webi service, that same user session is sticking to previously picked up webi service and always  goes to the same process for processing.
But now SAP response is bit more confusing.
    Thanks,
    Srikar

  • Load-balancing in the same IP subnet

Can I use load-balancing in the same IP subnet? I have the servers and client in the same IP subnet. I'd like to load-balance client traffic to server traffic. I also need to load balance traffic between servers. Is possible to configure it only in one VLAN?
    For example:
    CSS:
    interface 4/2
    circuit VLAN1
    ip address 10.0.0.10 255.255.255.0
    service s1
    ip address 10.0.0.101
    active
    service s2
    ip address 10.0.0.102
    active
    service s3
    ip address 10.0.0.103
    active
    service s4
    ip address 10.0.0.104
    active
    owner test
    content client
    vip address 10.0.0.3
    add service s1
    add service s2
    active
    content servers
    vip address 10.0.0.4
    add service s3
    add service s4

    set ip next-hop 10.0.0.10
    Thank you

yes, it's possible - use trunk with two VLANs (slide 9). or you can use 'transparent' mode (slide 11 - your attachment).
answer to your question (I have the problem to understand why there are two links with the same VLAN on the picture):
on the switch are two port interfaces in *switchport* mode (not trunk). now is it clearly?
    result:
both methods (bridge mode with two vlans, or transparent bridge mode) use two vlans. it's on you, which type is for you preferred.
my recommendation is - use first method - one link to CSS with trunk configured in bridge mode (one ip subnet, two vlans, default gw for servers isn't css, but parent router)

  • Send Email issue using "Mail Server Load balancer"  (Cisco ACE 20)

I have asked this question in SAP MII forum too but it appears issue could be in NetWeaver Mail API. Please let me know if someone have experienced this kind of issue or any suggestions.
The send email action was working file in MII with smtp mail server on port 25. Recently basis did a change in mail server ip address and they installed a new Load Balancer . The Load balancer is between SMTP and MII. After this change MII does not send email (unknown source error). now MII send email action has ip address or qualified path of Load balancer in MII send email configuration instead of direct ip address of SMTP server. Below is the error message in Net Weaver logs.
MII still sends email if direct ip address of email server  provided instead of Email Load balancer but not through Load balancer .

    Hi Ahmed,
I don't have experience with Blackberry, but, as the document mentions, the first thing to do would be making sure that the connection timeout  is set to something high enough
You can find more details on how to modify this value at the link below:

  • Exchange 2013 Load Balancing Question

    Hey Everyone,
I have recently started building up my companies Exchange 2013 environment and ran into some questions that I can't seem to find clear answers for on Google.
First, a little bit about my set up:
    2 CAS Servers
    2 Mailbox Servers
Citrix NetScaler load balancing the external URL (Controlling all incoming ports 25, 80, 443, 587, 993, and 995) to both of my CAS servers
This is not doing SSL offloading, it's just forwarding encrypted traffic to the CAS servers
I have configured a DAG between the 2 mailbox servers and am able to actively move the database my user account is on between the 2 copies with outlook disconnecting / reconnecting in about 10 - 15 seconds of moving it.
My questions started when I saw what Outlook was filling in for the "Server" field once autodiscover set it up.  I found this very strange server name in it:  *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Once I read up on it, I think i understand what it does.   If i understand correctly, this weird URL is sort of like an old CAS array from Exchange 2010.  When I started testing the failover is when I started running into issues.
When I shut down one of my mailbox servers, my outlook will lose connection and it won't come back.  The mailbox database that my user account is on successfully failed over to the other DAG copy but outlook never correctly connects.  I
believe this issue has something to do with the new CAS functions of Exchange 2013 since DAG works fine.
If I look at my "Connection Status" in Outlook, I see that there are several connections open.  All of them have a Proxy server address of "exchange.domain.com" and out of the 3 that show up there, they are all pointed to
    the weird URL mentioned above.
Whew, long post but let me summarize my questions below:
    1)  If exchange is configured to be fully redundant, why does my outlook disconnect when I shut down one of the servers?
    2)  What is the weird URL pointing to that I mentioned above that is showing in outlook?
    3)  How can I get outlook to correctly not lose it's connection when any 1 of the servers goes down?
    Thanks,
    Zac

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that the load balancer did not configure successfully.
I recommend you refer to the following article to configure the load balancer for Exchange 2013 :
    http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2012/11/load-balancing-using-vcloud-networking-and-security-5-1-edge.html
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Load balancing web services

Our architecture has 4 app servers and a central instance. Just recently, we enabled web services. The WISDL points to a specific server depending on which server you access the WISDL.
What is the recommended approach to load balance accross the servers?  Set up a load balancer switch outside of SAP or can the J2EE handle internally? Should the WISDL point to the central instance? etc.
I am having trouble finding discussions or documentation on this subject.
    I will reward points.  Thanks!!!1

Can you go into a little more detail.  We have I believe the same setup as you just described.  We have 2 app servers on 6.40 and would like to load balance between them.  We have set the ms/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8100.  (Which for some reason rsaparam has flagged as red.)  We have set parameter ms/http_port = 8100 in each of the app servers.  In SICF we have activated both sap/public/icf_info/urlprefix and sap/public/icf_info/logon_groups.  When we run a BW querry it runs just to the CI.
A couple of questions:  1)  In the 2 SICF services there is a place for logon groups, is this a pre-requisite and if so, can a normal GUI logon group work that is just pointing to the 2 app servers?  If they don't work, how do you create a logon group just for HTTP load balancing?  2)  Is there some other settings that we could be missing?
Any help on this matter would greatly be appreciated as we have been struggling with this for some time.
    Thanks,
    Jared

  • Help choose the appropriate etherchannel load balance method

    Hi
I have 2 network architectures :case A and case B  (found architecture below)
Case A : one server connected on the switch on each site
Case B : 3 server connected on the switch behind a router on each site
2 site are connected by 2 wireless link :each wireless link have 105 Mbps bandwith (I absolutly need the agregate bandwith 210)
Site headquarter is the principal site and site backup is use to backup data located on the principal site
I use Gbit cisco  2960 switch
I use etherchannel to agregate the 2 switch port (port 1 and port 2) where the 2 wireless link are connected
I configure src-mac for case A but all trafic is send only on one wireless link .
Please help me to choose the more appropriate load balance method to load balance traffic between the 2 link for the case A and for the case B
    Please advise
    Thanks in advance

Your Case A might be handled by port hashing, but unfortunately most Cisco platforms don't support it.
Your Case B isn't much better, as you only have 3 hosts on each side, and according to your drawing, they are behind routers, so you don't want to use MAC hashes.  If you don't have port hashing, next best choice might be src-dest-IP hashing.  Again, though, with just 3 hosts, your distribution will likely not be very balanced, especially over shorter time intervals.
To obtain best utilization of your links, you need some kind of better link bonding, such as MLPPP (unfortunately, usually won't scale to FE rates) or a hardware MUX.  Next best option, if you could route across the links, would be something like Cisco's OER/PfR which can dynamically load balance.
