LRT224 - Set public IP on router

Hello,
After having problems with a Draytek dual Wan router, I have purchased the Linksys LRT224 to test as a replacement.
The router is set up and working, but I cannot work out how to set the Public static IP on's the router. I have a range of 5 public IP's (and a gateway IP address)
using the wizard, I have entered the BT username and Password and the riouter is connected to teh internet, but it's using a dynamic IP address.
How do I configure a static public IP for the router itself (this would be the gateway IP that BT have given me), so I can port forward to different internal devices.
For instance, I have created a service that forward port 9090 to port 3389 which sends it to an internal Ip address then I have another service which is set to port forward 9191 to port 3389 which sends teh request to another device.
This was very simple on the Draytek, but I cannot find the option to set the static IP obn this device.
Thank you

Is Load Balancing set to Fail Over or Load Balance?
If it's set at Load Balance then you would have to try whatismyip a few times and possibly using different computers. The reason is that one time WAN1 will be used and the next WAN2.
PPPoe IP Addresses are usually a dynamic IP assigned by the ISP according to your PPPoe credentials. Russian "PPPoe" can be different where the PPPoe is use for Authentication and a secondary IP Address is specified but that is rare.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Is it possible to add a firewall Filter or Rule Set to the Extreme Router (802.11n)

    Is it possible to add a firewall Filter or Rule Set to the setting for the Extreme Router (802.11n) like the following:
    "ALLOW TCP/UDP IN/OUT to 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 on Port 53"  and
    "BLOCK TCP/UDP IN/OUT all IP addresses on Port 53"
    The goal of this is to create a firewall rule to only allow DNS (TCP/UDP) to OpenDNS' servers and restrict all other DNS traffic to any other IPs.
    Or, alternatively is there a way to configure same applied to the Network preferences on IMAC OS X?
    Thanks and much appreciation to anyone who has any clue about this.

    Sorry, I think you've got it backwards.
    The concern is NOT that the child can make changes to our hardware/AEBS, or even our network software on my IMAC - nothing's been changed.
    BUT, he changed the dns settings on his OWN device (ie chromebook) to google public server, accessed the AE using our home wifi network BUT bypassed our dns settings. Capeesh?
    See: http://www.pocketables.com/2013/03/how-to-use-change-the-dns-settings-on-your-ch romebook-and-use-googles.html

    Can I use my several-years-old IMac OS 10.4 to set up a wireless router, such as Aiport Base, so I can have wifi for the iPhone I plan to buy.  My IMac is not wife capable.

    Yes, Airport Express Base Station connected to your Mac by ethernet will work as a bridge. Or you can connect the AE directly to your router/modem by ethernet if it's a non-wi-fi router and it will act as a relay for that.

  • I set up a new router and the windows machines have no problem with connectivity.  I go through the MacBook Pro's airport assistant and view my network and then enter the WPA2 password.  I get back a message saying the password is incorrect when it is

    I set up a new router and the windows machines connect fine.  My MacBook Pro does not.  I go through the airport assistant and see the network yet when I enter the router WPA password I get a message back saying that the password is incorrect.  And, it isn't!  Very frustrating.  What can I do as I had the same problem after I tried to reinstall my last router.  Again, only on the Mac.  Thanks!

    If you kept the same Base Station name and network name, that can confuse Keychain Access. Either change the Base Station and network name, or open Keychain Access Utility and delete any reference to your Base Station and network name. Make sure you delete from the Login and System keychains.

    Here's my trouble: set up my linksys router ~ a year ago, all is fine. I recently wanted to set up WEP security. I go to the router's web-based setup page, go to wireless security, pick WPA personal, TKIP, and enter a WPA Shared Key. Voila. However, now I cannot connect. When I try to connect it can't seem to get past "authentication", and times out. I'm not asked for a password or key at any point. Suggestions?
    Thanks!

    how old is your wireless computer? if you are not asked for the network key that means that the computer is recognizing the other saved networks on your computer. go to the choose a wireless network screen(right click on wireless network icon on the bottom right side of your screen and click on view available wireless network). click on the "change advanced settings" option on the left side of you screen.after that click on "wireless networks" tab then under preferred networks box below remove all the preferred networks that you see there. even if you see your network remove it as well..and after that try to connect to your network again...
    sometimes those preferred networks blocks you to connect to a wireless network...

    For the Internet, you should set up a router on your modem, this router will route the packets to any device on the local area network.
    If you use the iMac as a router, like if you connect the Ethernet cable from your modem to the iMac, then broadcast a Wifi signal, the iMac will have to remain on all the time, at full power. Thus drastically shortening it's lifespand.
    A router is only about $100 or so, offers much better security as it's like a large guard, someone has to hack through router first to get your iMac or other devices.
    If it breaks, you buy another 5 years later for another $100, so your not placing all that always on wear and tear on your expensive iMac.
    Apple's airport routers are pretty good, easy to set up and have automatic firmware updates, plus music sharing etc.
    Set up properly you will be very secure

  • Can I set up a wifi router to receive an internet signal by connecting it to a computer?

    Can I set up a wifi router to recieve an internet signal by connecting it to a computer?
    It seems to me that routers are designed to connect directly to the internet by programming their firmware with connection info.
    I'd like to connect a computer to the internet, then connect a router to that computer.
    Essentially, I want a internet signal that comes through a computer before being made wireless. Is that possible?

    To connect the computer to the Internet you still need some physical component, for example a wireless USB dongle. So if you want to have the Mac connecting to the Internet and then share this connection to other devices using wireless, then you can enable Internet Sharing on the Mac and select to share its Airport (wireless) connection to the other devices (which turns the Mac into a form of access point). Then the other wireless devices can connect to the Mac and use the Mac's Internet connection, which could be a wireless USB dongle or an Ethernet connection to a cable modem.

  • Set Static (Persistent) Networking Route

    I've been pouring over the internet looking for a solution to my problem. I am very new to Apple and am attempting to access an AS/400 system at my work. I have the documents on how to set it up properly in a windows environment but nothing for a Mac and my corporate support doesn't 'do' macs.
    Basically I need to set a static network route. The Windows command looks like this:
    route add -p 42.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0 42.242.80.193
    How can I get this working on my macbook pro? Please be gentle as I'm as green as they come!
    Thank you in advance for any assistance you may offer.

    Open the Terminal app and type in *man route* for instructions on using the route command
    Or search Google for the Unix route command

  • Problems setting up a WRT54G router with Vista

    My husband upgraded to Windows Vista Home Basic over the weekend (we don't have the newest version! omg!angst!woe!). Today, I got a call that our DSL was turned on, I set up the modem, got the internet working, and attempted to set up the wireless router.
    I have used the setup cd, the EasyLink program, and the directions to manually set up the router. I can get the router linked up properly, I can even log into the DSL modem through the router. The problem is that I can't get any of these setup programs to recognize the router. Even putting in http://192.168.1.1 brings up a "page cannot be loaded" error in both Firefox 2.0 and IE (however, when I remove the router, I can see the DSL modem fine with it). Is there some other way to get the wireless router set up, or do I need to wait for one of the two computers with XP to arrive (yay for moving with the military) to set up the router?

    Hi,
    I too am having problems connecting the WRT54GS to my vista enabled pc. I have installed the software but since connecting everything my internet access is now diabolically slow. This is on the main wired machine, not wirelessly. The router is obvioulsy doing something inbetween (possibly the firewall) but this has made the speeds almost unbearable, negating the object of the new pc !!
    Is there some settings I should eb checking ?
    Many Thanks

    Your install disk must look like this
    and not like this.
    Those gray disks are machine specific and will only work with model of Mac that they shipped with.

  • Can I set up a second router (extreme or express) with WEP while keeping 802B,G,N on the primary router (TC)

    I have a wireless temperature controller which only uses WEP security. I have my TC configured for 802.11 B,G,N which disables WEP. Can I extend or create a new wireless network which uses WEP while maintaining my current network configuration?

    Yes, this is extremely easy..
    Get a wireless router or AP.. anything cheap will usually be fine.. you don't need fancy. And if it is G or B wireless then a second hand is also fine.
    For a wireless router you can bridge it, if that option is available.. usually not.
    So you do a sneaky work around called wan bypass.
    It is easier to give you actual situation.
    TC running standard IP 10.0.1.1
    Set up the WEP router with IP, 10.0.1.254 (puts it outside the range of dhcp in the TC and will never be used).
    Turn off the dhcp server.
    I do suggest you set a fixed wireless channel,, so it doesn't interfere with the TC.
    eg 1, for 2.4ghz.
    Then plug LAN port of the router to the LAN port of the TC by ethernet.
    Voila, you have a secondary AP and can set poor security on it.
    *** DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON***
    You have just reduced the security of your whole network by creating a loophole.
    I would strongly recommend turn it off when you finished playing on your Wii or whatever ancient device that uses WEP.

  • [SOLVED] Setting up a DSL router?

    Hello there.
    I am having trouble setting up my DSL router with Archlinux. It is currently running with Vista and has all the correct settings already configured. I am unsure of how to properly set it up and have tried various configurations which resulted in pppoe-start timing out, sometimes with an error. I have two network cards (One integrated into my Asus A8V motherboard and the other a 3com.) I am not sure which is eth0 and which is eth1 but I set rc.conf to eth0 and tried both.
    The DSL router is a Dynalink RTA1320 which I believe runs a version of linux with a 2.4.x kernel.
    Isn't including the login and DNS addresses when running pppoe-setup unneccesary as the router is already set up with them? I have setup the router's IP address (192.168.1.1) as the default gateway.
    Last setting tried was:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    routes=(!gateway)
    I have also tried routes=(gateway).
    Any advice?

    Thankyou everyone for your help. I re-installed Arch ("oh those newbies!") and then went straight to configuring rc.conf without using pppoe-setup. I have configured rc.conf like so:
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1 eth0"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond dhcpd)
    My 3com network card's module was already listed first in the modules for Linux to load (Google helped me find out what my card's module is.) Also, http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45065 was helpful.
    I rebooted with the router plugged in. No error message came up after NETWORK as it started. Ping www.google.com worked!

  • How do I set up my Belkin router to forward ftp port to macMini?

    I am trying to set up my spare macMini (non-intel) as an ftp server, but I am not able to connect to the ftp server (office) from a remote location with my MacBook Pro (home). I have tried to make the right settings as below:
    1. forwarded ports 20 and 21 on my Belkin router to the private IP of my macMini (192.168.2.15)
    2. set up a dynamic dns account xxx.dyndns.org so that this domain is updated with the current public IP
    3. set Sharing Preferences to allow ftp access and turned off the Firewall
    I think the port forwarding info is not correct because it does connect if I use the DMZ setting and hard code the public IP to the private IP.
    Any help appreciated,
    Cynthia

    Are you sure that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn't block the ftp ports?
    Is is fairly common these days for ISPs not to allow any kind of file server on ordinary household contracts.
    Anyway, I'd suggest you rule that out before you get further into the intricacies of port forwarding.
    I also hope that you only have the firewall turned off for the ftp ports -- or if not, that your router has firewall protection.
