LSC no System Update option

Suddenly, LSC 2.3.002 doesn't provide the option for checking for Lenovo System Updates. Instead the app displays : To update the Lenovo software in your machine you must go to Lenovo's website to search for updates.
Until a week back the option was there.

Connect your iPad to iTune (computer) and Check for Updates. Backup before you proceed with update.

    A 1G iPod can go to iOS 3.1.3
    A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
    A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later

    I got the S90-u 1GB model a few weeks ago. There is no system update option in about phone nor anywhere else. Even the lenovo companion app says no system upgrade software.
    Tried updating with lenovo smart assistant but update fails on the phone.
    My phone is not rooted and had the Google play store preinstalled.

    You can think of using the FNDLOAD utility to download the values from one instance and upload to other instance.

  • Windows 7 and ThinkVanta​ge System Update

    I updated to the most recent release of the LSC (2.3.002) and now my warranty is showing. So that is good.
    However, when I go to the fix option for the Lenovo Software updates, and I click "launch" to fix the issue, all I get is a small pop up that says "System update 5" and then goes away after a few seconds and nothing happens.
    Have rebooted my computer and still nothing.  I would like to get all the updates that I need for this machine asap.

  • System Update 5.01 update only removes itself on Win7

    I recently launched System Update (installed on Windows 7 x64 on my x230) version 5.01 and was notified that an update was available. After accepting the "install update?" query, the usual download and installation ensued... and guess what, after that (download+installation) something (UCS?) crashed and when looking for tvsu anywhere on my disk (Program Files, Program Files x86, ProgramData) all I could find was... well... nothing.
    Are you trying to tell me something, Lenovo? That the best way to use System Update is to not use it?
    Or is there a less subtle explanation as well?
    If you care for why this happened, I'll delay installing the 5.02 TVSU until tomorrow... if you need any logfiles until then, tell me.
    Beyond that, I suppose other end users will me more surprised and less happy / able to solve this.

    Sounds like 5.01 tried to do an Update in place, to update to 5.02. Look in control panel>admin tools>event viewer for entries around the time of your Update.
    -or- (easier)
    Action center (white flag on task bar), Maintenance, View reliability history. Look on the bottom line for BLUE I icon (information), for the date of your attempted install(upgrade in place) of SU. On the bottom of the screen, documentation should show up, such as "Lenovo system update   ,,,,  Successful application removal" Go to the Far right of the line, and click on VIEW TECHNICAL DETAILS.  You MIGHT see another detail line that states unsuccessfull application installation. VIEW TECHNICAL DETAILS

    The msi installer log will be found in C: Users\**YOUR id**\appdata\local\temp\TVSUsetup.log  or similar. If msi failure, go to the bottom on the MSI log and look for error/failure/return codes and post them.
    SU is found in Program files(x86)\lenovo\System Update. It does store data in \program data.
    I installed SU 5.02(upgrade in place), without any issues.  I also uninstalled it and reinstalled it yesterday, without any issues.  The Upgrade in place does NOT give an option to create a shortcut to execute SU.   Standalone install will create a short cut under LENOVO (folder) System Update(subfolder entry) .

  • Lenovo System Update fried my BIOS... What can I do?

    Hi all,
    I'm in a bind. I did a clean install of Vista, and then I ran ThinkVantage System Update. It pulled up the BIOS update as a critical issue (among others) and so I consented to install it. The problem is, halfway through the update process, it stopped responding. I gave it two hours, then, thinking that it might be okay (the updater hadn't gotten to "erasing old BIOS" or whatever...) I rebooted it.
    Four beeps and then nothing. Nothing.
    I took it to my university's ITS department, and they recommend a system board replacement. I can't afford that.
    I was wondering if there was a way that I could reflash the BIOS myself, or if I had to send it to depot, what sort of time and cost I am looking at. Can anyone advise me on what I should do?

    By doing so it looks as though they got their problem was solved.

    Hi, I've just installed the latest Lenovo system update software but it does not run properly. I just get the initial popup screen showing the version but nothing else happens. Looking at the event viewer I see an error saying "Retrieved null machine type model". Any advice on how to resolve this ?

    Hi strangerland, don't give up hope -- I'm using Firefox 36.0.4 on Windows 7 right now.
    That said, I understand troubleshooting fatigue and when you find time to think about Firefox again, and have the opportunity to shut down and restart Windows, you might try testing in Windows Safe Mode with Networking, a mode that blocks some external programs that can interfere with Firefox.

    System Udate 5.06 will not start.
    Running:
    Lenovo Support Center (LSC) 2.5.002
    Lenovo System Update (SU) 5.06.0016
    When I click "Launch" from inside LSC Software Updates I get a flash of a welcome screen (<1 sec) for SU that goes away immediatly. No UI appears. In task manager, tvsu.exe and tvsukernel.exe both start then dissappear (<1 sec). This happens if I directly launch tvsu.exe also.
    When I run SU a log file is created for each run.  The only line in each file is:
    [Lenovo System Update build: 2014-06-18 5.06.0016] 7/22/2014 1:28:56 PM
    Anyone with any info?

    What is your machine type and model? Did your machine ship with SU installed? I suspect your machine is NOT supported via SU. Lenovo Idea Centre machines are not  supported via SU. Check the SU supported machines list.  If your machine is found, do the below.
    Your recent LSC install. Check the support page for your system. not listed?
    Let's install older SU 5.05 and see how that runs on your system
    (1) uninstall SU 5.06.16 via control panel, programs and features Delete old logs during uninstall? yes
    (2) download Su 5.05.008 from here

    Install it but DO NOT RUN IT right now.
    (3)To prevent self update, regedit.exec
    Navigate to:
    HKLM\software\Wow6432node\Lenovo\System update. << I am win7 64 bit Mine is here.

    HKLM\software\Lenovo\System update < 32 bit
    On the right hand side is HelloClientLevel
    you will see value=HelloLevel/9.09.00                          < this will auto update..
    Change to   value=HelloLevel/9.10.00                          < no autoupdate
    (4) Run su 5.05 now. post back if it runs ok.

    Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.

  • Lenovo System Update creating problems in fresh installation of Win 7

    I'm hoping I can get help from this forum...
    I have a Thinkpad R61 7742-CTO that has its original XP Pro operating system in day-to-day use.  It's time to finally update to Win 7 with XP due to sunset soon. (Although I think Win 7 is visually ugly compared to XP)
    I removed my "production" XP disk drive and did a clean installation of Win 7 Pro on the original purchase ("test") disk, including the 140-some MS updates available as of yesterday.  Everything runs fine, including using Windows Update to search for new important and optional updates.  So far, so good.  I next went to Lenovo's website and downloaded the current version of Lenovo's System Update.  Again, no problems once that particular program was installed.  I installed Lenovo optional updates also without encountering problems.
    However, when I load the Lenovo important updates, which include Access Manager, Power Mgr, etc., various intel and other "enhancements", things go wrong.  If I click on Windows Update, for example, I get a message that it is not running.  If I then do the net start/net stop wuauserv routines I found when searching the exact error message, I get the error:  System error 5 access denied.  I get the same message for several similar admin routines, particularly those involving "net".
    I have tried many of the supposed repairs, including MS Fix-Its, that appear in Google when I searched the error message.  None has worked.  (A couple Fixits I did manually and got the Access Denied messages again)  So I've rolled back using the restore point just prior to downloading the Lenovo programs, and everthing resumes working as expected.
    It seems that the Lenovo downloads are interfering with something, particularly my admin rights, in some way.  There's only one user (me) and it has admin rights, no password & etc.  Other odd things are Access Connections is running as is the basic Win 7 network app in the system tray.  Perhaps the Lenovo apps are interfering with the similar Win apps rather than replacing them as intended?
    Can anyone suggest an approach to solving my problem?

    It may be that TVSU is "updating" the AHCI driver (Intel Matrix Storage Manager or Rapid Storage Technology) to one that breaks Windows update.
    You can try rolling back the driver to an earlier version or going to the Intel site and getting a later one.
