LSMW for sub equipments in initial time

Dear
We have one query , while uploading the equipment master data at initial time, how could do for the installation of sub equipments.
The sub equipments needs the superior equipment no, but first time doing the LSMW we have the data with super equipments.
It is looking hard to create the both superior , sub equipemnts at one time with installation.
What will be your way for this?

Hi,
There are two ways for uploading the equipment master upload with subequipment
1)Create the LSMW Object for uploading the both Equipment & Sub-equipment.while praparing the upload the file, field UZTDN should be differ by one second for each sub-equipment which also it is differ by one second of your superior equipemnt on which your attaching your subequipment.
2)Create individual LSMW object for Uplaoding first Superior Equipment then Subequipment follow the above rule for attcahing the subequipment to superior equipment.

Can I move Time Capsule hard drive to an external enclosure for faster restore (or initial back-up)?

I upgraded my Time Capsule with a 4TB hard drive. I just backed up 500GB of data from a MacBook Pro with Time Machine and it took almost an entire day over a wired gigabit connection. The next MacBook Pro I need to back up has more than 2TB of data, so I'm anticipating that the process will take nearly four days. The slow speed of the Time Capsule leaves me with two questions...
1. If I ever need to restore my entire system from the Time Capsule, can I remove the drive from the Time Capsule, install it in an external hard drive enclosure and restore from that as it will be a much faster USB 3.0 connection than through the Time Capsule itself?
2. To save the time of waiting four days for the initial Time Machine back-up, can I remove the drive from the Time Capsule, install it in an external enclosure to do the first back-up and then put it back in the Time Capsule for future back-ups?

The answer to this is no.. TM backup is done differently on a local drive .. cf a network drive. The network drive must have the backup inside a sparsebundle.. you can read the backup locally and it is vaguely possible to backup files from local to sparsebundle but you are still going to find TM is pretty finicky if it finds you tampered with its internals.
I agree with Kappy .. if you want to use local backups just use USB3 drive.. it is a bit unfair to compare.. as USB3 is 5Gbps connection whilst ethernet is only 1Gbps.. you might also find the speed in the backup is limited by sheer mechanical drive performance.. figures are always quoted for single large files but when you copy heaps of small files.. a mechanical drive takes a lot of time writing file allocations.. even if the actual file write is short.. it takes a long time relative to track after track of large file copying.
Let me add a few things.. 500GB disk in the MBP is not the quickest.. they are usually the slow 5400rpm drives.. unless you replaced it.
Our experience of TC suggests a speed of around 50GB/hr average doing backups.. but it is essential that you turn off wireless.. otherwise you will slow it down.. It is also important IPv6 is set correctly to link-local only and you cannot trust auto to get that right.. you need to set it.
If you still cannot achieve average speed of around 50GB/hr something is wrong.. either you are not getting full gigabit or something is slow.. test with the single large file eg 1GB over ethernet and see.. you should manage speed of around 50MBytes/sec.. (it can vary from 30-60 however... ).
It can take a long long time to do 2TB.. if that is all internal then perhaps look at using TM for the boot drive only.. you surely have it partitioned.. or multiple disks.. and use Carbon Copy Cloner for the other partitions.. it is not that it will go any faster.. but that you can separate out the tasks easier.

Hello,
The first thing to do, is to specify TWO (or more) transaction recordings in step 1.
Then, in step 2, you should specify the source structures - one for every transaction recording.
In step 3, you should maintain fields for your structure.
In step 4 you relate recordings with source structures.
In the next few steps, you'll have to assign fields, specify your files, then assign files to structures.

You can set a field in source structure as indentify field. And when upload file, LSMW will differentiate the entries by this field and store them into respective structure. (This for one file => multi-structure)
And you can also create multiple file source, and assign them to respective source structure. (This for multi-file => multi-structure)
But I think you can't record multiple tcode in one LSMW BDC record, it is not same as we do in SHDB. When a tcode finish, the BDC recorder will close automatically.

Finding Sub equipments for equipment

Hi all ,
I have to write BDC for IE02(equipment change) and IL02(functional location change) transactions.
if that equipment or functional location is not having any equipments then i had no problem. But if they already had equipments in it then i need to change the recoding. My problem is how to find whether there are sub equipments for an equipment and any equipments are assigned to functional location.
Is there any table
1) to find the subequipments for an equipment
2) to find equipments assigned to functional location

LSMW for Asset Data (Tcode-AS01)

Hello All,
I am working on LSMW for Asset master data creation for transaction AS01. When i go to tcode AS01 there is a field with description called "NUMBER OF SIMILAR ASSETS". The LSMW program for the asset data uses two structures BALTD and BALTB. But the field description field is not available in these stuctures. So i am not able to create asset data through t code AS01.
Can anybody help me out. I will reward you with points.

Hi,
The number of similar assets
enables you to create multiple similar assets in one master transaction. These assets initially differ from each other only by their main and/or sub-number. When you save, you can also enter a description and inventory number for each individual master record.
This function does not allow you to create multiple assets that automatically have the same long text.
In order to work with lsmw you are creating asset in reference to old asset number/subnumber. i think the default number of assets are 1. in case you require more assets to be created of same type you may have to pass different long texts.

Creation Of LSMW for Actions..........

Recorded an LSMW for PA40 hiring actions which includes infogroup - [ IT 0000, 0001, 0002, 0105-ZVEN (Sub type)]
This is for external vendor employees hiring actions.
While recording or manually running the process, it is working fine.
When in foregroud or background process, the alternate pernr is getting generated. Say for 1st record , pernr generated is 80023, then for next it is 80025, 80027so on.
Kindly suggest me in this issue.

1-you keep no range as external and assign PERNR sequentially so that it remains same as you want it
2-kindly go through the LSMW abain to see what have you assigned in field mapping & conversion rules
3- check one record created thru LSMW and see if next (alternate number gets assigned to Ref PERNR in IT0000)
Check the alternate number to see if anything gets assigned to it.

Initial Time Machine Backup Stuck on "Indexing Backup"

I have Mac Mini running 10.7.2. I just got an external hard drive and am trying to run an initial back up using Time Machine. I am running my computer in Safe Mode as it won't start in regular mode. I formatted the HD and began to run Time Machine back up. HD is connected via USB 2.0 wire.
It has now been 12 hours and is still on Indexing Backup... Is this normal for initial back up? I know it takes a long time for initial but this doesn't seem right.What do I do to correct if it isn't correct? Should I stop and try again?

Thank you very much. With your info I gave up on the back up and ran Disk and Permission Repair for the 3rd or 4th time and crossed my fingers and restarted my machine and it WORKED! I ran time Machine back up and when I woke up this morning it was all done! Yeahhhh!
I wasn't sure what was causing it not to start in regular mode and as I'm not too much of a techie I was scared that I was teetetering on the brink of losing everything. The machine would run so I didn't think it was a hard drive issue, but not knowing for sure I was concerned and after losing everythign once before years ago, I was worried. I have it backed up on line but wanted a 2nd (local) version that wouldn't entail tying up bandwidth for days. In the end it worked out!
But the short answer is, Time Machine Backup does NOT work in Safe Mode...

Error in the LSMW for vendor master using standard batch/direct input

I am facing the problem in the LSMW for the Vendor master data. The vendor is initially created for the company code 350 by using LSMW. NOw when I try to uploasd the same vendor using the same LSMW for the company code 450 then I get the error in the Bach input creation as follows:

Inbound delivery for Sub-Contracting Scheduling Agreement

Hi All,
I am working on inbound delivery creation --> PGR for sub-assembly (Semi-finished product) which we receive from sub-contracting vendor through scheduling agreement. At time of PGR, it should do MVT#101 for sub-assembly and 543-O for raw components.
I already created JIT/FRC releases and did PGI (MVT # 541-O) for raw components. Now I am manually creating inbound delivery (VL31n) to post PGR. When I am doing PGR with VL60, I am getting below error.
Any help or suggestion please ?
As observation, I have seen that in inbound delivery I am only seeing sub-assembly (semi-finished) product. I am not able see "SC Component" tab which I have seen on other environment (ECC 6.0 with EHP4). Is it related to system limitation where we can't do PGR for sub-contracting ?

Sorry if i miss understood but note 352243 says to refer note: 338119
"In the current release, it is not possible to process the components to be cleared when you post the goods receipt for the inbound delivery. (See Notes 338119, 197864 and 199703 also).
However when you implement these corrections, the error log is also displayed for the subitems to be cleared and further processing can be carried as described in Note 338119."
When I refer note : 338119, there is no correction. Am I missing anything ?
Again my issue is I am not able to perform Post Goods Receipt. Even after doing PGR, if system do 543 for raw component, I am fine.

Creation of lsmw for updation of position and pers area

Hi friends,
I am tried many time to update position and personnel area through lsmw for all employees ,at time of recording its coming.But once compltion of lsmw preparation i am uploaded my inputs through tabfile that time its updating only personnel number and infotype and its asking the save the action screen (At the same time its showing one popup below screen like there is no recording for mp000000).Can you tell any one there whats the problem.At the same time is it possible to upload the position and personnel area through lsmw.

Are you performing a hiring actions, if you are performing a hiring action, when you start with LSMW, the recording should be correct with hire date or start date, personnel number, reason for hire, position number, personal area, employee group and subgroup.
The source field you specific should contain the required field name, type, length and field discription. The field mapping should be done perfectly and assign the specified file in txt format and try to upload.

A small logical problem in LSMW for MM01...

I need to create a LSMW for MM01 transaction, wherein I have to check the initial four
digits of the material as 'ORCL'. If initial four digits of the
incoming material are 'ORCL', then create this material as it is.
Else replace these four digits with 'SAPM' (for sap material) while
creating this material.
This will differentiate between materials coming from Oracle and non
oracle system.
I know that I need to create a new rule in the step 5 of LSMW: "Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules", under the ABAP heading.
But, how should the rule proceed??

Now, I need to replace the records which are not 'ORCLXXX' with SAPXXX format. For example, say a record has the material number as ORCL007. This will pass on and created as ORCL007. If a record has the material number as MMMM007, this should be converted to SAPM007.
Should I use fieldsymbols for this, or just replace the strings??

LSMW can't upload large amount of data into the database.
Whereas BDC SESSION CALL /TRANSACTION method can upload large amount of data into the database.
The error capture method is superior in BDC.
BDC programs can be scheduled to run on periodic basis as per the customer requirements.
