LSMW Step 5 problem

Hi all,
In LSMW, for the 5th step, ie Maintain field mapping, I am not getting any fields.
Normally we get the set of fields and then we do the mapping. Please let me know what wrong i am doing.
Thanks,
Salil

If you maintain structure relation(Step 4) then you will get it.
just assign source structure to target structure.
Thanks
Seshu

    Dear Siva kumar,
    SAP Data Migration with LSMW
No ABAP effort are required for the SAP data migration.  However, effort are required to map the data into the structure according to the pre-determined format as specified by the pre-written ABAP upload program of the LSMW.
The Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) is a tool recommended by SAP that you can use to transfer data once only or periodically from legacy systems into an R/3 System.
More and more medium-sized firms are implementing SAP solutions, and many of them have their legacy data in desktop programs. In this case, the data is exported in a format that can be read by PC spreadsheet systems. As a result, the data transfer is mere child's play: Simply enter the field names in the first line of the table, and the LSM Workbench's import routine automatically generates the input file for your conversion program.
The LSM Workbench lets you check the data for migration against the current settings of your customizing. The check is performed after the data migration, but before the update in your database.
So although it was designed for uploading of legacy data it is not restricted to this use.
We use it for mass changes, i.e. uploading new/replacement data and it is great, but there are limits on its functionality, depending on the complexity of the transaction you are trying to replicate.
The SAP transaction code is  'LSMW' for SAP version 4.6x.
For those with the older SAP version (4.7 and below), the data migration programs might not have been pre-loaded.
You can download the LSMW at no cost from SAPNet under Services, SAP Methodology and Tools, category Tools.
If you are an existing SAP customer with an OSS ID, you can access the SAP Service Marketplace to download the  LSWM for your Basis teams to install to your SAP system: http://service.sap.com/lsmw
The LSM Workbench carries out the following tasks:
Reads the transfer data from one or more files (for example, spreadsheets, sequential files etc.)
Converts the data from the source format into the target format
Note that with background processing, the input file must not be located in the presentation server. Access to presentation server files is only possible when you are working online.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.
    Regards,
    Rakesh
P.S. you can send me a mail at my mail id [email protected] for any specific details

  • Lsmw  step by step procedure using   batch input method

    hi,
lsmw  step by step procedure using   batch input method

Step-by-Step Guide for using BAPI in LSMW
Note! The screen prints in this article are from ECC 5.0. They may differ slightly in other versions.
    Introduction:
This document details the usage of BAPI in LSMW. We have used the example of migration of the purchase order data into SAP.
    Pre-requisites:
It is assumed that the reader of this article has the minimum knowledge required on the Business Object, BAPI, Message Types and IDoc Types.
    Step-by-Step Procedure:
Details of the BAPI used in this scenario:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
Details of Message Type and Basic IDoc Type:
    Message Type: PORDCR
    Basic IDoc Type: PORDCR02
Let’s have a look at the BAPI first, before proceeding to the LSMW:
    1. Go to Transaction BAPI
    2. Click on Search Button
    3. Enter the value “BUS2012” and select “Obj.type(Technical Object Name”
    4. Press ENTER
    5. Following screen appears:
    6. On the left side of the screen, Expand the “PurchaseOrder”.
    7. Select “PurchaseOrder” and double-click on the same for details.
    Building LSMW using BAPI:
    1. Go to Transaction LSMW.
    2. Enter the Project, Subproject and Object information and click on CREATE.
    3. Enter the descriptions for Project, Subproject and Object.
    4. Now select Settings à IDoc Inbound Processing
    5. “IDoc Inbound Processing” screen appears. Enter the required details as shown below:
    6. Click on “Activate IDoc Inbound Processing”.
    7. Click on “Yes” when prompted for “Activate IDoc Inbound?”
    8. Hit on “Back” to return to the main screen.
    9. Click on Continue (F8). Following Screen appears:
    10. Select the Step 1 “Maintain Object Attributes” and select “Execute”.
    11. Select the radio button “Business Object Method” and enter the following details:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
    Hit ENTER
    12. Save and click on BACK button. Following information message is displayed.
    13. Now select step 2 “Maintain Source Structures” and click “Execute”.
    14. In this step, we need to maintain the source structure. In our example, lets consider the example of a file with 2 structures Head and Item data as shown below:
Click on Create and name the source structure as HEADERDATA. Now select HEADERDATA and click on “Create” again to create the child structure. Following popup appears:
Select “Lower Level” and click on Continue. Enter the Item data structure name.
Click Save and hit BACK button to go to the main screen.
    15. Select step 3 “Maintain Source Fields” and hit execute.
    16. Enter the fields as shown below:
    17. Click SAVE and return to main screen.
    18. Select step 4 “Maintain Structure Relations” and click Execute.
Select E1PORDCR and click on CREATE RelationShip. Following screen appears:
    Select HEADERDATA and hit ENTER
Similarly do the same for the structure E1BPEKKOA, E1BPEKPOC and E1BPPEKET.
Click Save and return to main screen.
    19. Select the step “Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules” and click on execute. Maintain the Field Mapping as seen below:
    20. Select step 7 “Maintain Source Files” and provide the link for the test file created. (Create a test file with the same structure as defined earlier).
Save and return to main screen.
    21. Select the step “Assign Files” and click on Execute.
Assign the file provided to the source structure. Here the same file is provided for both the structures.
Save and return to the main screen.
    22. Select the step “Read Data” and click on Execute.
    Click on Execute.
    Return to the main screen.
    23. Select the step “Display read data” and click on execute.
Click on the structure name to get the field level values.
    24. Return to main screen and now select “Convert Data”.
    25. Return to the main screen and select “Display Converted data”.
    26. Return to main screen and select “Start IDoc generation”.
    27. Now select the step “Start IDoc Processing” on the main screen.
    28. Return to main screen and click on “Create IDoc overview”. Here the data record and status records of the IDoc could be viewed
It is given in screen shot.

  • Problem in lsmw. step: display field mapping and conversion rule

    hi,
The IDOC structure to be mapped is missing in step 5[lsmw using IDOC]. Hence target structures are missing in auto gnerated conversion program.
As a result the the step Convert Data step is failing.[Converted data cant be generated]
I am using standard BAPI charcteristics as my Basic Type.
Anyone having idea why the target structure is missing??..

The problem is solved....The field mapping was missing coz i didnt assign the target structure properly....

  • LSMW steps ... data not converting

    Hi All
I have created a sample file for the Customer Master Conversion, I need to know why the read the data is no uploding.
I execute LSMW , and then I execute the READ_DATA step. After that I clicked on DISPLAY_DATA where I could see the record read in the given structures.
Then I clicked on CONVERT_DATA and checked the result. Convert_data displays the FILE READ and FILE WRITTEN. ( CONV file is created )
I can see the result of CONV_DATA as below,
    Transactions Read:                    1
    Records Read:                         5
    Transactions Written:                 0
    Records Written:                      0
However when execute DISPLAY_CONVERTED_DATA, I dont see any record in the Conversion file.
Why  is this happening and how to get into this problem ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Amol

    Hi Amol,
What I observed from the log that it didn't write anything into the file. If file created then you can see some numbers instead 0 against 'Transactions Written'.  Some issue exists so check it again.
    Transactions Read: 1
    Records Read: 5
    Transactions Written: 0
    Records Written: 0
    Thanks

  • Dialog Participant step problem when completed with CQ Sidekick

    Hi,
I got the problem that the dialog that is used in a Dialog participant step isn't displayed correctly when i complete the Step via the CQ Sidekick. If i complete the step from the User inbox the dialog is rendered correctly. To make it clear : if i use the CQ Sidekick to complete the Step then i can only enter the next step and a comment and not the additional fields that should be added because of the dialog.
My first guess is that my dialog.xml isn't correct but i can't find the Problem. What is your experience with the Dialog Praticipant step?
This is the dialog i use:

                    separator=""
                    xtype="textfield"/>
            </title>
        </items>
    </jcr:root>
    Thank you

You can do this via the Workflow/WorkItem Metadata. https://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/5-5/workflows/wf-ref/workflow_steps.html explains how to access the metadata. if the reviewer needs to be set dynamically (the dalog does not allows that), follow Ram Atmakur's post at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4317233 .

  • Workflow : Mail Step Problem

    Hi,
I am getting a peculiar problem with Mail step. I am getting the following ERROR :
<i><b>Work Item XXX Object YYY method SWW_BI_EXECUTE_S cannot be executed</b></i>
    What could be the problem?
All the containers are properly BINDED are getting passed to the Mail Step.
    Regards,

If you are using the standard Selfitem.SendTaskDescription method and are getting the error, one or more of the values being passed could be wrong. Check if Workflow technical log has more info on the error.
    Cheers,
