LSMW to upload documents in DMS

Hello guys
Can we use LSMW to upload large number of documents at once?
If yes, please list the detailed steps. I have never used LSMW before.
So keeping that in mind, please respond in detail.

Hi Sunil,
You can't uplaod from different t-code, you need to upload it thru CV01n only. One exception is there which is BDC t-code SHDB for batch uploading. But from other t-code you can't uplaod a document into SAP DMS content server.
One another option is create a z-tcode for the same. i.e. for MIRO create ZMIRO.
In statndard environment you can attache but it will not saved in content server. Only thru CV01n it can be done.

We have a webdynpro based J2EE application. We want to create a SAP DMS ( KPRO ) document using this web application externally.
Any inputs on this scenario ?
I am able to create similar using an ABAP report which reads the client file and create the DMS document using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE.
How do we achieve this using external web application ..
Please HELP in this.

A custom UI component will berrequired to upload the data from a Flat File into CRM WEBUI.
The View in this UI Component can have 2 fields lets say u2013 ID and File to Upload and a button 'upload'.
When the UPLOAD button is clicked , the event u2018ONFILEUPLOADu2019 is triggered.
A Javascript function u2018fileUpload()u2019 reads the Excel file and formats the data in the form of a long string with Line Breaks corresponding to each row in the excel file. This string is stored in a Hidden HTML form element u2018Excel_Datau2019.
In the Event Handler for u2018ONFILEUPLOADu2019, the hidden form element u2018EXCEL_DATAu2019 is read and retrived.
lv_file_data = request->get_form_field( name = lv_excel_data ).
me->lv_id = request->get_form_field( name = lv_schema_id ).

Opening a document from DMS

Hi Experts.
I have to develop an ABAP code where I have to Retrieve a particular word document uploaded in DMS edit some fields in it and then print it. I dont know how to write the code.
i was told to use OFFICE INTEGRATION classes but have no idea of anything.

I am not sure how to edit the fields or print it but you can retrieve the uploaded document in DMS using the FM C_DESK_DOC_GET_URL where in there are two components as export parameter . The pt_url gives you the URL of the document which when put into a browser gives the document content.

Upload Document in SAP DMS

My requirement is to upload document in SAP DMS and this document we are receiving from an external system. Can you please let me know,
1. Is there any way I can provide a link in ECC SAP DMS for the documents which are stored in external system (SAP CRM) .
2. Also is there any standard FM / BAPI available which uploads a document into SAP DMS (I do not want to pick documents from a local directory).

1) R U able to upload any other file type to the DIR AA00-0123 (word/ppt/pdf etc) ?
2) Can u Create a new DIR and try uploading the same excel file? does that get created?

I am able to get the functionality for CJ20N - 'WBS Element' Object (Screenshot attached). Can someone pl suggest if I am missing something to get the same functionality for Sale Order / PR & PO.
For Sale Order - I believe the 'Create' icon shall be 'Enabled' once I navigate - Extras -> Documents.

This button is only displayed if you use the new screen logic (see note 1066915) and when you have maintained the necessary customizing for the required document types and objects in transaction DC10.
So I would kindly ask you to go to transaction DC10 and mark a document type where the necessary object is linked under 'Define object links'. Choose the right object and display its details by double-click. Then you will see the field 'Create document' where you have to enter a value '1' (using transaction) or '2' (simple creation). Please enter a value and flag the 'Additional function' checkbox too.

Upload documents from webdynpro to R/3

Hi All,
I have referred to the below thread and created a RFC which gets the binary content and uploads it to DMS.
How to upload file from Web Dynpro into R/3 (BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2)
The file is getting created without any problems. But i am unable to open this file directly from DMS using the transaction CV03N. For example when i upload a PDF and when i try to open the document in CV03N it launches the application with an error message
"Acrobat Reader could not open '_DEVCC10.PDF' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasnt correctly decoded)."
When i upload a text file it opens some junk data and not the original content that was uploaded from portal.
Can someone help me out in finding out the problem?
Also can someone help me in understanding what is the exact data that needs to be passed to BIN_CONTENT as mentioned in the above thread.

Viewing and uploading documents when using a business package in the portal

DMS works fine in the ECC backend and we are able to create and view documents but when attempting to view a document via the Business Package Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technician, error returns with "No originals available for the document". we are using Enh Pack 3 but can find no configuration advice in the Business Package technical configuration. Did a search here but could not find anything specific. Any help appreciated

When you upload document into SAP DMS, you need to check-in these for storing into repository. Have you checked-in documents? if not then these documents can;t be retrieved by the system. Kindly check and revert back on this solution.

Uploading Data in DMS via excel sheets

Please help me out in suggesting ways to uplaod data (Doc Type,Doc version,Doc Part,Characteristics.....etc) in DMS from excel sheet.
I guess 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2' might be useful in this. But dont know whethre this would work for the cases in which same file has got two versions in the excel sheet.
Also help me with sample code for the above BAPI.

SAP LSMW to upload values against characteristics in CL20N

Morning,
I need to upload values against characteristics in transaction code CL20N using LSMW.
I have tried batch input recording method, but I receive the error below.
The setup of characteristics is as follows:
Plants – Upload all plants
Purchasing Groups – Upload all purchasing groups
Cost Centre – Upload cost centres specific to a strategy
Value of PR – Upload PR value specific to a strategy
Account Assignment - – Upload account assignments specific to a strategy
Document Type – Upload document types specific to a strategy
We have over 800 strategies and I need LSMW to upload the characteristics across all 800 strategies.
I started creating a LSMW program by recording the transaction CL20N, but I get the following error:
Error received "Runtime error DYNPRO_NOT_FOUND has occurred"
Please advise or send me user guide on what I need to do to successfully create the LSMW.

Hi George,
For Idoc CLFMAS / CLFMAS02: when updating nodes, add table for nodes OBTAB = 'PNODID'.
For CL24N recording it is the same as other LSMW recodings, use selects if all data isn't available to fill needed recoding fields.

Upload document through PCUI screen

Hi,
Need help from all experts.
I have a requirement to upload the documents through PCUI screen. Exact requirement is to dynamically call a tabstrip by pressing a toolbar button. This tabstrip will have one input box which shall allow the user to browse and input the file path and one upload button, that will upload the document.
I'm aware that there is standard process to achieve this result but unaware of the steps.
Please help.

I've heard of people being able to use the LSMW to accomplish this, but don't have any details.
You can also create a custom report to do this for you.
Read this forum topic. It has a lot of info and links to what you want to do.
