Lsnctrl dbsnmp_start leads to dbsnmp (defunct)
Hello
I am running Oracle 8.0.5.1 (patched version) on Linux SuSE 6.3 and followed the instructions for using this Oracle version on that Linux version very close.
When starting "lsnrctl dbsnmp_start" I can see two processes "dbsnmp"; after pinging the database or whatever the process starts "defuncting" (dbsnmp [defunct]).
Has anybody a solution to this problem?
Thanks, Dietmar

I'm running 8.0.5 on Red Hat 6.0. The system has been running happily for two months, but I'm now starting to play with the management tools and having a problem.
When I start the OEM intelligent agent via
"lsnctrl dbsnmp_start"
I get the following error message in DBSNMPW.log:
NMS-00315: Message 315 not found; No message file for product=network, facility=
NMS
From OEM Doc I found the following:
NMS-00315: Failed to create tcl package index.
Cause: The tcl package index could not be created.
Action: Make sure all the shared libraries in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/library directory are correct.
I checked the $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/library and found it was empty.
I then started orainst and checked to see that OEM intelligent agent was installed, it shows as being installed
Has anyone run into this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Getting Defunct processes while using Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 in Solaris 10
Hi,
I have installed Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 in our Solaris 10. \
Successfully Configured iPlanet web server using the manual and the application scripts are working fine with this iPlanet webserver.
Even if the application is working fine, the iPlanet webserver stop responding at a period of time and needs to be restart manually...
Found that lots of defunct processes(PPID of webservd) are created and these defuncts (zombies) leads to stop the services.
I am not good in iPlanet webserver configuration settings on the Solaris 10 OS.
Could anyone help me to fix this issue ?
Thanks,

nullThis issue was not resolved completely. Tested same project
files on two Windows XP machines: one on a secure network; the
other on my personal PC. My personal PC had no problems with the
file generation. The secure network's project file froze and I
can't do the job off network. I figure that its either antivirus
software or some other conflict. Discovered two antivirus programs
running: McAfee and IBM Proventia Desktop Endpoint Security.
Checked both of their websites for reports of RH conflicts but
found nothing. Proventia was then removed, under protest but all
for a good cause. RH WebHelp then works. We check the security logs
for Proventia. Don't know what we're looking for but nothing looked
wrong. The IT guys tell me both programs are popular so how could I
be the first to deal with this issue? I am left with the burden of
proof that RH WebHelp generation is not a security risk. Does
anyone know if and how RH's been naughty? - Thx -

Hi.
The problem was new version of TCL (8.0.4).
Problem solution is use from TCL 7.5.
Regards
Awgustow
Oracle Intelligent Agent
The Oracle Intelligent Agent requires TCL package,
release 7.5.
Follow these instructions to build Oracle
Intelligent Agent
executables.
1. Download the TCL 7.5 sources(tcl7.5.tar.Z)
from:
ftp://ftp.scriptics/com/pub/tcl/tcl7_5/
2. Extract the source in a separate directory and
configure:
$ mkdir tcl
$ cd tcl
$ compress -d tcl7.5.tar.Z
$ tar xvf tcl7.5.tar
$ cd tcl7.5/unix
$ ./configure --enable-gcc
3. Edit the source file tclPosixStr.c:
$ cd ../generic
$ mv tclPosixStr.c tclPosixStr.c.ORIG
cp tclPosixStr.c.ORIG tclPosixStr.c
by commenting the following set of lines:
120 through 122
327 through 329
566 through 568
774 through 776
4. Build the TCL 7.5 library:
$ cd ../unix
$ gmake
5. Install TCL 7.5 in /usr/local, make sure
/usr/local exists and
is writable:
$ su
# gmake install
# exit
6. Set the environment variable ORALE_HOME to the
location where
Oracle8i was installed:
$ export
ORACLE_HOME=<location_where_8i_was_installed>
7. Copy the new TCL library to ORACLE_HOME and
build the
executables:
$ cp libtcl7.5.a $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib
$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib
$ ln -s libtcl7.5.a libtcl.a
$ gmake -f ins_oemagent.mk agent

Dbsnmp, oracle intelligent agent
Anyone got this to work?
I have relinked the agent, as per 8.1.5.0.2 patch instruction. Ran 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_start', did not work.
There were different logs generated, but it all seems to boil down the following:
1) In $ORACLE_HOME/network/log/dbsnmpc.log:
===========================================
DBSNMP for Linux: Version 8.1.5.0.0 - Production on 13-JAN-00 17:36:11
(c) Copyright 1997 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
System parameter file is /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/network/admin/snmp_ro.ora
Log messages written to /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/network/log/dbsnmpw.log
NMS-00315: Failed to create tcl package index
===================================
The dbsnmpw.log simply tells me I have to set up listener.ora to actually tell it what sid is it servicing (so much for automatic registration of the database instace to a listener!). Done that as well, still no luck.
2) Now, inspecting what nms-00315 ACTUALLY means:
=====================================
[oracle@prs_ntw_096 8.1.5]$ oerr nms 00315
00315, 00000, "Failed to create tcl package index"
// *Cause: The tcl package index could not be created"
// *Action: Make sure all the share libraries in the directory
// $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/library are correct.
========================================
3) Getting more interesting. But then, I have no files whatsoever in $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/library.
Does anyone else have files in this directory ($ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/library)??
nullYes, I did. I solved it anyway because I made a link to the wrong library.
So I got dbsnmp up and running, though you need to make changes to listener.ora.
As there is no Oracle Management Server and Console for Linux, I will have to install in on NT (duh!) to fully test the dbsnmp agent. I do not have the CD today so I'll be posting my results on monday. -
Job queue / Intelligent Agent / dbsnmp
Hi everybody,
we are testing Oracle8 on a Linux SuSE6.0 system with SMP.
Installing the software was ok by following the instructions on
the SuSE-website and doing some own work.
First to answer/solve a lot of questions/problems towards the
dbsnmp_start:
We also had the problems that were described before; error
message 0315 was posted in the logfiles and the dbsnmp died
immediately.
I solved the problem by installing the TCL_NEW-package of SuSE5.3
which is of version 8.0p1-11. After setting the permission to
root:dba on dbsnmp*-files the dbsnmpd starts working.
Discovering the database from our NT-machine works fine, also,
the agnet works (he can ping the db), but transmitting jobs
fails.
The error message after sending a job is "Error accessing job
queue". The job was submitted (so it seems to be) by the linux
machine but the scheduling fails.
Has anybody a solution?

nullHi (again)
We had success. After spending some more time on it and a lot of
brain-(cpu)-time, we have solved the problem.
Steps I have taken:
- upgrading from 8.0.5 to 8.0.5.1 by patching (as mentioned the
mail before)
- applying the lnx_patch, too (making a link to "make" for the
command "gmake" used in patch-shellscript)
- applying the patch patch2.tgz from the download section
- copying the two libraries out of the patch2 (libclient.a and
libclntsh.so.1.0 to /lib and to ORACLE_HOME/lib
- changing permissions and ownership to oracle:dba of those
libraries
Thanks to S C Maturi for his hint on patching. It was the
basement for our success.

Solved Intelligent Agent (dbsnmp) link problems on RH 6.0
I just spent a good chunk of time getting Oracle Enterprise Manager Intelligent Agent to link properly on Red Hat 6.0. I figured I'd post a summary here to help someone else with the same problem.
Problem summary:
Running "lsnrctl dbsnmp_start" didn't report any errors but "lsnrctl dbsnmp_status" showed that the agent was not running. (And no log files were written.) Investigation revealed that the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbsnmp execuable was missing, so I figured I didn't have Intelligent Agent installed. Well, it was installed but the link failed, so dbsnmp was never created.
Solution:
Patch one of the make files and quickly run a link. Here is the patch with instructions at the top:
http://www.davideous.com/misc/ins_net_client.mk.diff
nullActually the agent needs libtcl7.5.a only.
The version of TCL in Redhat 6.X is 8.*. Those can't work with Oracle's agent. So, go to ftp://ftp.scriptics.com/pub/tcl/tcl7_5 to download an old version and compile it. Don't install it, because it may confilct with your Redhat's built-in TCL. Just copy libtcl7.5.a to $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib---There is a such file in the same directory of Oracle 8.1.6 for Solaris:-). Make a symbolic link for it:
ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/libtcl7.5.a $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/libtcl.a
Oracle's manual recommends, use ins_oemagent.mk to build agent:
make -f ins_oemagent.mk agent
You don't need modify the makefile.

You need to configure the configuration files first. The
instructions are sufficiently vague so as to warrant your
question. The agent actually does very little for practical
usage. I turned it off after seeing what it was capable of.
These examples got a little jumbled in the cut-n-paste, but you
should be able to piece them together.
They live in your $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/ directory....

If you have done this already, and are sure you haven't made a

In any case, good luck Neven.

i have one of the old macbooks and wish to hook it up to my tv. do i need a mini dvi to hdmi adapter plus a 3 rca phono lead with a jack for the sound. please help as im useless at this stuff. cheers
First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV. -
When running an External Calls Failed report for Lead Campaign Association (e.g.Attempted to add a campaign member where either the member id 00Q70000015ngo5 or the campaign id null is null.), the report show me the contact but not the campaign the contact was trying to associate itself to in SFDC. In order to see the campaign, I have to click on the downward arrow and click on the "view external call details" FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL CONTACT.
Is there a report I can run that shows me both the campaign and contact for the error? I can't efficently trouble shoot issues in Eloqua if I have to view each individual record with two or more clicks.
Any advise?I am getting the same error when opening the J2se Development Kit 5.0 Update 8 after I press the Run button. ( "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and than you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package").
Is there a solution ?
Thanks,

Lack of leading korean language
I'm Mac OS X Lion User and use Adobe Web premium package.
But always link-broken image problem has been encountered while opening illustrator file
I mean, Image link was broken when i open illustrator file, presentation work sheet.
I don't understand why the link is broken, all files is stil in same folder.
I think the reason is lack of leading korean language. Link problem is very simple.
I don't think the problem is Apple device i think.
I enough to use present condition illustrator without this problem...( please don't bother me any more.)
Just I want Illustrator Developer community on the website in order to learn usage skill.
It's help you to obtain new illustrator user also.
Illustrator is very useful to make artwork and presentation work sheet, so i love it.
I would like to give you hint in order to increase your illustrator usability & value.
We need new function to place or import " *.swf " file on the illustrator work layer.
And this function have to work on the acrobat reader (viewer) also.
It will give user powerful energy usability.
This professional skill and technology is not that hard to you i think.
Please solve a problem by communication and compromise with Macromedia. Acrobat Pro is also same .
Illustrator is better than Acrobat pro. My think is always same from the present to the past..
I would like to know what the problem is?Moving this discussion to the Illustrator forum. I believe the poster is having problems with links within Adobe Illustrator?

Error in creation of Lead by Channel Manager
Hi All,
I created Channel Manger Portal for creation of Lead using blview=MKT_LEAD_M,BSP Application=CRM_BSP_FRAME and CRM Application=CRMD_BUS2000108.
It is working fine for search only.when i click on create button then no process is going and i am getting the following error message on the top of page:
"Erorr:Please select at least one entry to execute the function".
Please help me
kushalHi,
As the error message implies - you are trying to insert a record into a table with duplicate keys to a record that already exists.
You need to look further into the termination to determine which table it was failing on and then figure out why it was trying to insert a duplicate key entry. Find out if it is a standard or custom table and see if there is any custom code in user-exits or BADI's that might be causing it.
Thanks.

Adding leading zeros in abap objects.
Can anyone explain me
1. How to add leading zeros to a field in abap objects.
For eg:
data: dmb(6) type c value '123456',
actually the output value of c should have leading zeros added to it for length 16.
i.e '0000000000123456' . If the length of dmb is less than 16 then leading zeros should be added to that value to make it 16 as length.
Please tell me how to do it in ABAP Objects.Hi Camila
Try to use the statement
DATA: ALPHABET(15) VALUE ' ABCDEFGHIJ',
M1(4) VALUE 'ABCD',
M2(6) VALUE 'BJJCA '.
SHIFT ALPHABET LEFT DELETING LEADING M1.
The field
ALPHABET
remains unchanged.
SHIFT ALPHABET LEFT DELETING LEADING SPACE.
The field ALPHABET now has the following contents:
'ABCDEFGHIJ '.
SHIFT ALPHABET RIGHT DELETING TRAILING M2.
<b>ALPHABET</b> now has the following contents:
' ABCDEFGHI'.
<u><b>IN CHARACTER MODE</b></u>
<b>Effect</b>
This is the default setting (see above), and the addition is therefore optional.
<b>Note
Performance:</b>
For performance reasons, you should avoid using SHIFT in WHILE loops.
The runtime required to shift a field with length 10 by one character to the right or left requires about 5 msn (standardized microseconds). A cyclical shift requires around 7 msn. The runtime for the ...
LEFT DELETING LEADING
... variant is around 3.5 msn, for ...
RIGHT DELETING TRAILING
... around 4.5 msn.
Reward all helpfull answers
