LSO 300 - Interfacing to External Training Providers

Hello All,
I'm starting an initial investigation on our options to interface to external training providers. This was mentioned by an SAP consultant some years back when we first implemented but I'm finding relatively little for 300. The document at...
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/329da1a8-0b01-0010-b399-c04517307bcd&overridelayout=true
... give some info on 300 options, specifically on page 6. Has anyone know of any more detailed documentation on setting this up in LSO 300?
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Kumar,
By extrenal trainings, do you mean course type which is of type "External WBT" or "External classroom training"?.
If so, then usually information is exchanged bewteen the SAP & the other external system in a standard way through pre-defined messages.I have worked only through XI for such a scenario. In Exchange Infrastrcuture, there are standard XML kind of data which is used for LSO & external trainings. Through this, the booking, cancellation & other related data are passed on to the SAP system from the external systems.
For this to work, there are a few things that need to be ensured.
The same person should exist in both the systems.
For WBT, the course content is externally hosted & is linked thru infotype 5042 when the course type is created
For classroom trainings, the course(E) & not D is linked with infotype 5042 for external training details.

Sowmya

  • Is it possible to integrate LSO 600 with an external system without SAP PI?

    Hi,
as asked in the title, i am wondering if it is possible to integrate LSO 600 with an external (non-SAP) system without using SAP PI/XI. The external system is a middleware application which can handle RFC functions, IDocs besides the usual web service communications.
However, i don't know how LSO and SAP PI are integrated so i wonder if their interfaces are such that instead of SAP PI another middleware could be used.

Web Services are used. If you were to implement the services in your 3rd party middleware and configure SAP to call it, I suppose it is possible. The external course catalog can be used for CourseEnrollment and LearningProgress. See the application help for details. Don't expect to receive support from SAP with such a setup however.

  • Interface inventory and training

    Hi all
About the interface inventory and training:
I’m working in a SAP solution implementation, just at the preparation phase.
We have already identified the external systems that have to be integrated with our SAP
solution and my client would like to know which is the most suitable training,
as general approach, he should follow to understand how interfaces work and how
they are established between the external system and SAP.
Could anyone give me some advice?

  • Creation of Server Proxy for  Message interface with External Defination

    Dear All,
I am getting a problem while generating a server proxy for the inbound interface . The request message used in the inbound interface is a external definition which is uploaded using a XSD file. The XSD file was supplied by a third party which is having very high complex strucuture and used lot of abstract data types in the design. When i tried to generate the proxy in the R/3 system (Transaction SPROXY) for the inbound interface i am getting following error.
Interface uses external and internal message definitions
    Message no. SPRX122 *
    Diagnosis
In a message interface you can use messages from different sources:
Message types and fault message types edited in the Enterprise Services Repository
Messages imported into the Enterprise Services Repository (external definitions, RFC, IDoc)
In the current message interface, message types from different sources have been used. Since messages from these different sources must be handled differently during proxy generation, such a mixture of messages within a message interface is not possible.
    System Response
    The interface cannot be generated.
    Procedure
Change the interface definition accordingly in the Enterprise Services Repository.
Please guide me, how to generate the proxy for the interface with external defination message. I could nt geneate manullay, because it is having very high complexity and its a big structure.
Is there is any way to generate the proxy for interface with external definition

    Hi,
    i.       Import your message schemas from external definitions, or RFCs or IDocs from SAP systems. These definitions already contain data types.
ii.       Create a message interface and reference the messages of the external definition, or the RFC or IDoc message.
Check this, it may help you

  • WM interface to external system

Have anybody ever configured WM interface to external system (t-code OMKY)?
I have a question here and hope you can help:
What's the naming rule when define Logical System, RFC destination, Port and Partner Profile? Should all be defined under one name? In my test, if I only define logical system and partner profile under same name (for example "ABC"), and maintain Port and RFC destination under another name say "XYZ", then I can only sent IDOC but I can't receive the IDOC sent from external system (for example, confirmation of transfer order).
Can anybody shed some light on this question? Your input is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
Why should the port and RFC destination also use same name as logical system and partner profile? Would you please kindly show me the rule? I’ve checked online help and searched extensively on websites without any clear instruction.
In my experinces, usually I setup using the names and make easy for other developer to identfy the interface problems in production as well as for enhancement in the future. Just imagine if you are dealing with hundred interfaces (inbound and outbound) and you have different names for same interface.
Again, you could setup with different names for logical system, RFC and so on.
In case of different name between logical system and port, would you please tell me why we can’t receive IDOC sent back by external system? Can’t they find the correct partner and port then send IDOC anymore?
Well ... you need to tell the external system what names to use for partner profile and port as part of EDIDC data.

  • External Data Providers

    Hi!
I have a document where I need to compare figures with two external Data Providers.
One external provider gives me Target figures for a Sales Period in Total per Store. The other gives me % per week, in the Sales Period, for how much we want to have sold of the target.
The user get prompts for start week and end week and results for Sales Quantity which is from the DataWarehous. What I want to achive is a calculation where I get the % from my external provider where I have a match for week in my external sheet and the userRespons in end week.
This is an example of my external % sheet
    week and %
    0840 =  0,40
    0841 =  0,80
    0842 = 1,00
For exampel: The user wants to see Sales accumulated for week 40 to 41 and the End week promt is therefore 0841. Then I want match end week prompt with my week prompt and get the result 0,8.  Then I want to take 0,8 times my target figures.
The problem I have is that either it takes 0,40,81 and then times target or it only takes 0,4 times target.
If I have a variable that looks like:
    =<%> Where (<Week (Imported)>= "0841"
it works but I need week to be dynamic similar to:
=<%> Where (<Week (Imported)>= [prompt for end week]
    Regards, Marianne

    Marianne,
Create an extra variable (check_variable) where you check the following:
    =if <Week (imported)> = UserResponse(DataProvider, your prompt for end week) then 1 else 0
    Then change your variable to
    =<%> Where (check_variable = 1)
This should make it all dynamic.
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • Customer Master Data interface to external using Seeburger on MDMP

    Hi Experts,
Currently, customer master data is interfaced to external system via IDOC. The middleware used is Seeburger.
If the system is changed to MDMP, would there be any impact to this interface?
Is Seeburger communicates in Unicode? If so, when the data is translated to Unicode when the data from R/3 is non-unicode?
       Thank you.

  • Error when trying to customize the Information.htm page in LSO 300

    Hello,
I did a custom page to replace the standard information page in LSO 300. But when point to the new object in table
LSPAGE_ALIAS_C its not shown properly. The custom page is a copy of the standard but it begins with 'z'.
If I point to a standard page in the table, for example catalog.htm or navigation.htm its shown properly.
Testing in backend also is ok.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

  • CUP Future Integration with External Training System

Are there any plans to allow CUP to integrate with external training systems. We have a need for CUP to integrate with an external training system to obtain course completion information which would then be used in the approval process for requests associated with adding or updating roles. Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any specific enhancements for that requirement but I would raise this directly with SAP to check!
I'm sure you could use a work around by using qualification records to trigger the CUP webservices of a certain request type and  generate a workflow path for that specific approval mechanism.
    Cheers, Simon

  • Are there any reliable training providers out there?

I'm looking to take training (preferably with certification) in Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services and would like some recommendations as to credible training
organisations in the UK? Haven't got any experience with training providers so any advice would be appreciated.

    Hey Steven
Course there is, you will find out that there are good and bad training providers out there, to get the most out of training I would recommend looking at practical based courses when you are searching for courses. A credible one I would recommend to you
from past experience  is Aardvark Training and Consulting. From looking at their site they deliver the exact course that you are looking for.

  • Prob creating ABAP Proxy-Interface use external and interna msg definition

    Hi,
I've created a service interface using external definition (message type for request and response), imported via WSDL file. However, while creating ABAP proxy in SPROXY, it gave the error message "Interface uses external and internal message definition". I searched through the forum, the questions were raised but no definite answer was found. Is it not possible to generate a proxy if there is any external definition used?
    Details of the error message:
    Message no. SPRX122
    Procedure
Change the interface definition accordingly in the Enterprise Services Repository.
p/s: My external definition is actually derived from a ABAP FM web service. The reason why i used external definition is that i try to avoid the tedious steps of hard-coding all the data types for the request and response message types.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    - julius

    Hi Arvind,
For technical reasons, proxy generation and the respective editors in the Integration Builder do not support the entire language range of XML schema and WSDL. For an overview of which language elements are supported, see the Excel spreadsheet in the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/xi ® Media Library ® Documentation: SAP XI 3.0 (SP11) u2013 Supported XML Schema and WSDL (EN).
I couldnt find the above document in the service market place. Any hint to find it?
    Thanks.

  • Interfaces with Logistics Service Providers (external WMS)

    Hi all,
I am currently in the process of designing possible solutions for our interfaces between SAP and LSP.
We have external 3rd party Logistics Service Providers (LSP) handling our warehouse. LSP has their own WMS system. We don't have WMS configured in SAP. Our warehouse will receive goods from supplier, issue stock to customers and receive returns from customers.
Could you please clarify the following ?
    1. What are the preferred ways of sending the messages for e.g. flat file/EDI/XML ?
    2. What are the possible messages we need to exchange (say for e.g to have goods receipt / goods issue / stock take / daily stock reconciliation) ?
    3. Which one is advisable ?
to send shipping notification (SN) from supplier direct to LSP system and receive GR details from LSP to SAP
    (or)
to receive SN from supplier in SAP and send the inbound delivery created in SAP to LSP so that GR can be done based on this ?
    4. How can the stock discrepancy / stock reconciliation can be handled between 2 systems on a daily basis ?
    5. Is there any website to get more information about the interfaces between SAP and external WMS systems ?
Your advise would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    anand

    Hi Aries,
No problem, I think I have not mentioned clearly. We have different Warehouses (in different countries) managed by different LSPs and each one has got different WMS system. Mostly they are non-SAP system and one is a SAP system with Transport management module. As I said earlier we have only IM configured in our SAP without WMS. Could you please tell what you interface your WMS with 3rd party WMS(SAP system)?
Still I am wondering whether the set up in OMKY can be used for my requirement as it tells about connecting SAP to external non-SAP system ?
Any ideas will be much appreciated,
    Thanks,
    anand

  • Audio Interfaces? External Hardrive?

I'm about to purchase a Macbook Pro the day after tommorow and I've been wondering if I'll be able to use a firewire Audio Interface to record with.. I'm thinking about getting the MOTU Ultralite..
And do you think it would be best to record audio tracks to an external harddrive? If so, what brands/models do you guys recommend?

looping what you play is as simple as: play a measure in time. grab the top right edge of the recorded region and drag to the right. it loops.
the only work you might have to do is trimming the beginning and ending of the region so that it starts and ends on a measure. this can be done by either cutting off the excess areas ("splitting" the region), or dragging to shrink it.
when you get it, read the help files, there is a wealth of information contained therein.
