LSO Correpondence - Blank pdf sent to the User

Hello
We are using SAP Request based Correspondence and have set up Automatic Correspondence generation at the course type level.
In few cases Users only recieve a Blank PDF.
Here is what the log says from the SLG1. These Entries are all in error.
Has anybody faced this issue before?

I am in the process of expanding a database of chemistry journal articles. These materials are ideally acquired in two formats when both are available-- PDF and HTML. To oversimplify, PDFs are for the user to read, and derivatives of the HTML versions are for the computer to read. Both formats are, of course, readily recognized and indexed by Spotlight. Journal articles have two essential components with regards to a database: the topical content of the article itself, and the cited references to other scientific literature. While a PDF merely lists these references, the HTML version has, in addition, links to the cited items. Each link URL contains the digital object identifier (doi) for the item it points to. A doi is a unique string that points to one and only one object, and can be quite useful if rendered in a manner that enables indexing by Spotlight. Embedded URL's are, of course, ignored by Spotlight. As a result, HTML-formatted articles must be processed so that URL's are openly displayed as readable text before Spotlight will recognize them. Conversion to DOC format using MS Word, followed by conversion to RTF using Text Edit accomplishes this, but is quite labor intensive.
In the last few months, I have added about 3,500 articles to this collection, which means that any procedure for rendering URL's must be automated and able to process large batches of documents with minimal user oversight. This procedure needs to generate a separate file for each HTML document processed. Trials using Automator's "Get Specified Finder Items" and "Get Selected Finder Items", as well as "Ask For Finder Items" (along with "Get URLs From Web Pages") give unsatisfactory results. When provided with multiple input documents, these three commands generate output in which the URLs from multiple input items are merged into a single block, which yields a single file using "Create New Word Document" as the subsequent step. A one-to-one, input file to output file result can be obtained by processing one file at a time, but this requires manual selection of each item and one-at-a-time processing. What I need is a command that accepts multiple input documents, but processes them one at a time, generating a separate output for each file processed. Is there a way for Automator to do this?

With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
Project specs:
                    - 1920x1080 sq pix (16:9)
                    - 25 fps
                    - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."

Can I create a fillable PDF that allows the user to attach a file to the submitted form?

There are suggestions in the Help documentation and on this site that indicate it is possible to attach files to a fillable PDF form that is being submitted. But I do not see any instructions for adding this functionality to a form. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to create my form. I have a Submit button with an Action/Menu Item/Submit a form option, and the URL link for the submission is a local coldfusion file with a #FDF suffix. The export format is HTML. The form also contains a hidden EMAILTO field, with an Options/DefaultValue option identifying the recipient's email address. (I'm guessing the local cfm file uses this field.) There is also a hidden URL field in the form, and its Options/DefaultValue specifies the URL of the fillable form itself. (Perhaps the local cfm file uses this field too.)
How can I add functionality to this form, using Adobe/PDF, to allow the user who submits the form to attach a file to the submission?

You have to first configure a text field so it can be used for file selection. You do this on the Options tab of the field properties dialog. In order to select the corresponding check box, make sure only the "Scroll long text" option is selected.
You then can set up a button that has the following JavaScript attached to the Mouse Up event:

getField("upload_text_field").browseForFileToSubmit();
Replace "upload_text_field" with the actual name of the file selection text field.

Why does message show as sent when the user is off...

Why does message show as sent when the user is offline??
After merging my Facebook and msn, I've been told by my Skype contacts, that whenever I'm offline, and they message me, it shows that I got the message. Just like I'm online.
This is also happening to my other friends who have merged their accounts ;(....!!!!
Please help, please! ;(...!!! I'm not hacked, I know, but it's happening even with other people who have merged the ACC....

LiveCycle Designer 7 : Saving the PDF form for the users ?

Hi,
When building a form, which will be filled by users, is there any way that the users can be offered the possibility to save their data within the PDF so that they can send the complete form by emails or through a other files exchange media (FTP, WEB, Flashdisk... )
Although having the possibility to sent only the XML data via email (which is great and we would like to keep this option) we fear that some of our users, which are filling the form, might not feel confident with this and might want to sent their completed form too ?

I was able to make this work for the first time yesterday. Assuming that you have Abobe Acrobat 8.0, once you have built the form...using adobe 8 go to the Advanced menu and select "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader". The first time that I did this, and then attached the form to a user of reader - they were not able to save the completed form. So - I went to 'Forms' on the menu and selected "distribute form". Then the user of adobe was able to saved that form and changes that they made.
The distribute function wants you to email from there as a default. I had trouble because our default mail client is Novell. Still can't get that to work right. BUT - you can distribute the form and save it to your drive for distribution later. I then attached it to an email and sent it out to users.
Be sure to walk your end user through - using save as and saving it to their computer. My folks are used to NOT being able to do that so they still said they couldn't save the completed form.
Sorry if this explanation is very basic - but I am not at all a programmer! :) This is what worked for me. I spent hours on this site yesterday trying to work out the email piece and stumbled into this solution.

Blank PDF sent to mail

We have a transaction ZME9 through which users can print a Purchase Order Draft or send it to the mail in PDF format .
In one case user is getting a blank PDF documnet for some particualt Purchase orders . We have observed that hte issue is happening for japanese users when they trying to use PDF option for Purchase orders with US vendors .
After investigation we have found out that in this case the Buyer is related to a Pinter and the Device type of that Printer is JPHPLJ4 - HP Laser Jet PCL 5- japanese. In this case the user is getting a blank PDF ,but the print option and the preview option are working fine
But if i change hte Printer in Debugging mode the PDF is generated successfully ,device type of this printer is POST2.
Can you please help me how can i solve this .

How do I embed a pdf document into an existing pdf so that the user double clicks on the pdf object within the pdf and it opens? i've looked everywhere on various forums and tried attachments - but still not working. Thanks

I've tried various methods but to no avail. I have a pdf document and within the pdf I'd like to embed a couple pdf documents so that all the user has to do is double click on the pdf object inside the pdf and it opens in a new window. I've tried using attachments to do it and linking it...but to no avail. Anyone know how to do? I'm using Acrobat Pro Version 11. Thanks

The "embed" feature common to MS Office applications is not applicable to PDF (for the why and wherefore of PDF get comfortable and read the ISO Standard for PDF - ISO 32000-1:2008).
You can insert other PDF files' pages into any given PDF.
You can attach files of supported formats to a PDF (of course a PDF is supported).
You cannot "embed". So, nothing is broken.

My question is basically in the top there. Essentially I want to create a marketing brochure that really gives my clients the easiest way to get to and purchase my product.
Is the only way to do it to create a separate order form for each product and just send them to that?

There are various ways this can be done. One way is to use a back-end application to pre-populate a copy of the PDF with the data and then serve it to the user, but that is quite complex to implement. Another way would be to use parameters in the URL to do it. That can be done more easily with a script.

Generating a PDF of what the user sees, and sending it as a binary stream to the server

Hi All,
On the final page of our Flex app, we allow the user to print out a copy of everything they've entered for their own records.
I'm wondering if there is a way for me, programmatically, to generate a PDF document that is the same as their printout (I pass a particular container to the "print" button I've got for the user), and send those bytes back to the server. We can store this PDF along with all the rest of their data, and it would be useful as a "snapshot" of exactly what the user saw when they submitted their application.
I'm looking into Flex PDF generation, but so far haven't gotten this figured out. I thought some folks here might be able to point me in the right direction.

Email notification is not sent to the user and admin

Hi gurus ,
We have a incident that user and admin is not received the email notification to lotus notes id.other users receiving the notifications from the same application.Same user and admin receiving mails from other applications
SWI1 no error but in SOST there is no record of a mail sent.
Have checked SU01 the user has an email address maintained both in ESS and R/3.
As per config SO16 - home address is selected.
In the profile his external email id is selected as home address.
what should i check next to sort out the issue.

How can I stop Photoshop CS5.5 taking control of html and pdf files without the user's consent?

Our client uses CS 5.5, and Photoshop will continuously take control of pdf and html files. This is without any interraction from the user, and after setting it back to the desired settings (pdf - Reader, html - Chrome), after some time (and doesn't seem to be related to anything the user does, restarting machine etc), Photoshop will snatch control of either or both of these extensions.
Could you please advise on how best to deal with this issue? Resetting Photoshop preferences does work for a time but it is not long before the issues arise again.

The machine has never had a previous version of Photoshop installed, but it does have Elements, which is used for scanning documents (which are then edited in photoshop and converted to pdf there). It is an involved process.
Although I appreciate the link and your time, I'm afraid the issue in the link is the opposite issue - the other user cannot set the default, whereas my user cannot unset the default.

Why do I get sent to the User Login screen to enter my password after sleep?

On OSX Lion, 10.7.4. I recently had to reinstall the OS on a new hard drive in my iMac and now have an issue with it that I never had before.
After prolonged periods of sleep (I haven't determined what the minimum length is before this will happen), when I come to wake the computer it shows me the User Login screen. Under my user icon is an orange checkmark, presumably to show that I am the user logged in. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the User Login screen one gets when the computer boots up. I select my user icon and enter my password and the computer unlocks.
I haven't got this set up anywhere, that I know of. I don't have the 'Security & Privacy - Require password for sleep and screen saver' option checked, never have. If I do turn that on just to check, it's a very different password screen, a little popup window in the centre of the dimmed screen.
How do I turn this feature off?

Sounds like you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. Boot to an OS X DVD or a bootable backup, and using Disk Utility, do a repair disk, and while there repair permissions. Disconnect any peripherals, and reboot. If you get the same startup behavior, do a safe boot, by holding the shift key down when booting. If that works, try a normal boot. If neither step helps, you may need to relaod your operating system.

Where is the PDF file for the User Manual?

I have found the Hardware Maintenance Manual but think there is another manual stored on the W520 that covers other, more day-to-day usage. This is on the hard drive somewhere, right?
...or did I misplace an optical disk that came in the package? Have searched in the Lenovo web site for our model.

How do I find the creation date of a pdf file when the user did not enter one (doesn't show up in properties)?

I can't find the stamp in properties, etc.. does not show up. I do not know how to otherwise get the date. This is Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) DPE build 5095

The data is not there at all. My mention of hidden metadata (perhaps confusing) is to emphasise that there IS NO hidden metadata, because that would be a Bad Thing.

How do I restrict a PDF file to limited users?

I have an online website and I want to make a PDF available to the users of that website. The website in question is not important here, but what is important is to know if I can make a PDF file first of all downloadable by validating someone's email address and assigned password, and then restrict the same PDF file from being shared. The content of the website has some content in it that is subject to copyright laws.
The users of my website are registered with their email address, so would want to somehow embed that and then put the file online, and then give each email address its own passcode to unlock the file for printing (hopefully just once only). Can this be done somehow too?
I use Adobe Acrobat software as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud so need to know how to do it for that edition of the software.

You can restrict downloading with a password from your website, not in the PDF itself.
And unless you use very expensive DRM technology, you can't prevent someone from sharing a PDF with others.
You can put a password on the PDF itself that will be required when opening it, but if someone wants to share the file, they can also share the password...
Also, you can't allow printing with a passcode. It's either allowed, or it's not. Only if the users have Acrobat and you give them the password uses to create the security restrictions can they change the settings and allow printing.
