LSO implementation

Hi,
We are planning to implement LSO in our portal. We are using EP 6.0 and EP 07.
But i don't find any roles or iviews in the portal content.
Do we have to deploy any business or support packages specific to LSO?
Can anyone provide me any info abt where to start with?

Dear experts,
We want to implement Training & Eventmanagent in ESS portal. I searched in sdn .But i didn't get proper solution. It seems from EHP5 onwards these services /iviews are obsolete and TEM is repleced by LSO only.

How to delete course content (LSO - WBT Training)

I need to know how I can physically delete course content out of the KM without ruining anything in the portal or in the SAP tables. You can mark it as 'obsolete' via the Repository Explorer (right click on the content and you will see the option.) This means it is not available for re-use or for use in a Course Type.
I have a vendor requirement to physically remove the content from servers and I fear that simply marking it obsolete it will not be sufficient.

I was given this bit of information from our LSO implementation partner and these were the steps that were executed. We have tested and at this time this seems to be the best approach.
1. Mark content as obsolete in the AE
2. Access the content folder from the WEBDAV URL, and delete the content from the server.
3. Either mark corresponding course type in the Master Data Catalog to not display on the internet or delimit the course type ( do not delete).

LSO 600 Configuration - Central Storage Location for XSLT Files

Hi,
We are implementing LSO 600 with enhancement pack 2 and I am haiving trouble figuring out what do do with the configuration steps
Enter Address of Central Storage Location for XSLT Files
and
Enter Address of Central Storage Location for Templates.
The config notes indicate that these can be a directory or network path with the format
servername\filename\.
As I understand it this is is the address of the file on the Portal Server where XSLT files and templates be stored. The problem that I am hearing from the basis team is (I am qouting an email from them) "who accesses the share? Is it the server, the client PC or both? Were running in a linux environment so I dont have any shares the PC can access."
Does anybody have any input?

LSO EhP4 - Integration to Atlas

At my present customer location, they are currently using courseware from ATLAS for their training needs.
With LSO implementation, there is a requirement to integrate with ATLAS.
Does anyone have experience integrating LSO with ATLAS?

Pre-requisite for Learning Solution Implementation

Dear All,
We were planning for LSO Implementation. But we were not sure about the components that needs to be installed in ECC as well as in Portal. We have LSOFE 600 ( Learning Solution Front end ) installed in our ECC 6.0 server. What else the components that needs to be installed for LSO implementation?
The following were the components available for Learning Solution as per note 529063
LSO - Learning Solution Add-on ( in ECC Server )
LSOFE - Learning Solution front end ( in ECC Server )
LSOCP - Learning solution content player ( in Portal server )
LSOAE - Learning Solution Authorizing environment ( in Portal server )
Do we need to install all the above said components? As per note 600209 LSO is available only for R/3 4.7 version? Which add-on do we need to install for ECC 6.0? Is LSO add-on is mandotory? Any help is much appreciated.

To determine possible landscape components use the Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/learningsolution -> Necessary System Environment (right hand side) -> Continue to Find Realization Alternatives for Selected Scenario "Managing Enterprise Learning Strategies" -> Implementation in SAP ERP (radio button). Options are now available that show the required and optional components necessary for the implementation.

FM or Tcode for No.of days employee attended Training in HR ABAP

Hi Experts,
I need to calculate No.of Days employee attended training in given payroll period level.
For ex, iam giving 01.2010 FY (Payroll Period 21.04.2010 to 20.05.2010) .
Need to find out how many days each employee under traning during this period.
In PA30 we can see his status (pa00001-stat1 = '2') but i need to calculate how many days he is under traning .
In PA30, we can see the status changed from Training to Shopfloor or something, Since he is active his end date is 31.12.9999.
Could you please tell me where can we see traning information in System (tcode or table or Std program).

You can see the training attended by an employee in the tcode PSV1 and PSV2. If you have LSO implemented in the system, then it will be LSO_PSV1 and LSO_PSV2.

LSO_P* tcodes - can they be secured for cost centers

Hi there,
Recently finished a LSO implementation. Question, it appears the most of the LSO_P* transactions doe not use P_ORGIN to restrict
for employees by cost centers? I assume this is more Master Data which we use mostly for main payroll transactions.
Is there a way to restrict the LSO type tcodes to certain cost centers/ PA's outside of using structural authorizations. We have no
structural auth in place.
The users using these tcodes just have a SU01 account with a named user account i.e BOBzee with no attachment to Organizational structure.

Create a test role add PA40 and other transactions along with the LSO_P* transaction and test it out
you will have the correct answer.

Notifications in Training and Events

Hi Folks
we are implementing LSO for our client. Our client has a subsidiery in France and that subsidiery is using TEM. Now the scenario is that French implementation doesnt use the notifications and it is a requirement in our LSO implementation to trigger the notifications. If we activate them then they will start triggering for the french team as well.
How can we enable notifications for our client and disable them for the TEM implementation in france. Please keep in mind that they have a central server which will host TEM with LSO.

Thanx for your answer. The fact is that they have different requirements and thats why they are persisting with TEM. Moreover , they are using it in French and our implementation does not have a scope to implement it in multiple languages.
One example is they do not use the notifications at all . but they are using TEM from the R/3 side, just to administer the trainings. whereas in US implementations, employees can use the portal to book themselves and get the notifications along with demand planning and sophisticated reporting needs.
Can we stop it using Authorizations?
As an ABAPer I have an idea that I have to implement a BadI that will check the personnel area if that personnel area doesnt belong to US then it will suppress the automatic triggering of notifications.

NW2004s Upgrade

All ,
I need some user experiences / advice from all regarding the NW04s SR1 upgrade .
1) We are in the blue print phase of an ESS / MSS / LSO implementation through NW04s SR1 with EP7.0 .SO is there any risk in upgrading right now or is it advisable after going live ( we are going live in couple of months ).Let me know what is the best practice .
2) Also share any specific problems faced during the upgrade from NW04s SR1 ( SP 6) to SP 8 .

GL - MDO - RCP Service Call Fails

Hi there,
I'm having issue during LSO implementation.
CO_LSO_CPT_PUBLISHER_SERVICE fails when publishing.
Here is the steps I encounter the error:
1) Log in as Data Steward
2) Navigate My Work > Manage HR Master Data > Process Training MD CR > Content Authoring > Publish Course Content
3) Publishing parameters:
New Contents
Content Type = SCORM package
Source File = /documents/<filename>.zip (file should be in the path in Show Folder of Original Files)
Target Folder = /
4) Click Publish
5) Check published content at My Work > Manage HR Master Data > Process Training MD CR > Content Authoring > Published Content
I'm receiving the error during publishing the content learning solution

Structural and Contextual Authorisations

Hello All,
WOudl appreciate if some one can provide me with some help with regards to structural and contextual authorisations. I have created structural profiles for MSS and LSO. Now if i assign both the profiles to the user then the user gets access to all employees within a pers area due to the LSO profile.
Expected is that the user sees only his reportees when he runs any MSS reports but see all employees when he runs any LSO(TEM) tcode. I believe this is possible via the contextual authorisations but it is not working.
The switches to activate structural and contextual is also on in OOAC.

LSO is used only for ESS self booking/cancelling etc. Online trainer, adminstrator, MSS lso functions are not turned on.
We have not used P_ORIGINCON yet. Autsw Incon = 0
Originally with had a structural profile which used SBESX. The root OU was determined by rh_get_manager_assignment.
After LSO implementation, managers who had this structural profile could not see the course catalog on ESS Portal. We resolved this by adding LSO related eval paths to the same structural profile. We tried, LSOCATAL, LSOCATDO, ZLSOCATDO etc. This works and they get started seeing the catalog online. But any lso related eval path has P object added to this profile (eg. LSOCATAL)makes the manager see the trainers. It P object is not used, then trainer name of a curse do not show on ess-lso.
Please let me now if you need more info.

Is it possible to integrate LSO 600 with an external system without SAP PI?

Hi,
as asked in the title, i am wondering if it is possible to integrate LSO 600 with an external (non-SAP) system without using SAP PI/XI. The external system is a middleware application which can handle RFC functions, IDocs besides the usual web service communications.
However, i don't know how LSO and SAP PI are integrated so i wonder if their interfaces are such that instead of SAP PI another middleware could be used.

Web Services are used. If you were to implement the services in your 3rd party middleware and configure SAP to call it, I suppose it is possible. The external course catalog can be used for CourseEnrollment and LearningProgress. See the application help for details. Don't expect to receive support from SAP with such a setup however.
