LSO Infotype-Data upload

Hi Friends
Could any one share their ideas on LSO Data upload methods,and what r the infotypes are recommended for direct uploads like Availability Indicators can not be maintained directly.
What are the infotypes can be uploaded through BDC,LSMW-what are the infotypes can be configured in the IMG

Please see my response in italics:
1.I tried the T777I also there certain infotypes are not maitained Ex Availability Indicators i can do it by removing the Tick mark but i wanted to know why the std sytem not allowing to maintain certain infotypes directly.
T777I is there to stop anyone to maintain certain object types since if you maitain them in expert mode then you have to maintain their attributes manually as well. Certain transactions are used to create objects like Resources (LSO_PSVR). When you create a resource using LSO_PSVR, it automatically asks u to put in various attributes for a resource and so it remains consistent. But when u maintain it using PP02 and forcefully maintain it then u have to maitain its remaing attributes manually and one can miss certain infotypes to maintain. Hope it clears the above point.
2.Coming to infotypes upload ,1002 -subtype General Description -is it suitable for Course type content or Course type Description-certain infotypes are interlinked with the portal ,need some clarifications on this.
Well its upto You. you can see different infotypes and then decide it for yourself which one to maitain for course type description/content. For example I used general description to give an overview of a certain course type for portal users.
Could you please elaborate this Infotype -Course type Description,course Info,Training provide,Resources ,Delivery Methods.
Since LSO is not installed so I cannot see these infotypes however drawing from my memory.
Course Info(1026) tells u about the language of the course whether it will be english, dutch etc
Resources can be like projectors, books, Instructors etc
delivery method is quite important. It can be either class room training, static web based or web based training. Based on delivery method, you need to maintain certain attributes for example if it is a instructor led training then u need to create instructors and relate with a course event. Similary if its a web based event then u need to maintain a web link for a course in infotype 1061.
Training provider can be a company or a person. Internal or external they can be.

Is there any option to distrubute data infotype wise in the transaction PFAL, i.e., i want to move the data into a particular infotype only.

Make sure the structure that you are using in the upload is the same that you have defined in your LSMW and may be in the same order. Also the fields of the structure defined are correctly mapped to your Batch input recording.
In this way you should not get any formatting error.

HR data upload using LSMW

Hi All
I am using LSMW to upload the HR master data. The infotype data that is loaded include the basic infotypes like 0000, 0001, 0002, 0007, 0014 and 0019 (monitoring of tasks). I am using recording method. I can record all infotypes till 0014 in single shot and the recording gets saved at the end of 0014 and gets back to LSMW step. I need 0019 infotype recording also. For this what should I do? How should I record it? Can I record this individually and attach to the above recording? Please help.

Hi,
What we do during data convertion is creating each recording separately. I don't think the customer will provide you one data file with all ITs information. Providing he/she has to extract data from his/her system it is likely that you get separeted files. Pelase ensure it won't be this way.
Moreover this approach is less error-prone. Image that you are missing some configuration for one of the infotype, which is in the middle (lets say 4th in the row out of 10). Everything would load correctly till it reaches this "unlucky" infotype. Then the record has status of not loaded. The rest would be skipped and you have missing data. Now you need to start reloading from this wrong infotype to the end. But how about these already loaded? Would you delete the records to avoid duplicating?
That's why I am really encouraging you to take each IT separately approach. It is better to spend some time preparing data files then loosing your nerves when investingating what's in and what's not yet in the system, in case an error occurs.

I am doing the HR master data upload, I found one idoc HRMD_A but i am unable to find the infotypes PA2001,PA2002,PA2010,PA2012 in this idoc type.
Could you please let me know in which type i can get all inoftypes including these .

Problem in customize infotype data for save

Hi experts,
specially for ABAP-hr guys.....Can u pls help me in providing me the correct solution for the below:
I had created the new infotype with table control now i have to save this table control value means list box value or check box value which is been inside the table control.How i save these values in the table .
Shall I have to write the query for Insert the data in infotype or some other way.Because if i take the only fields in the infotype insted of table control no need to write the query statement.
How can i achive this pls help me.

Hi,
Just remember one thing never ever fire any SQL query (Inset,Delete,Update) on infotypes it can cause havoc.
to maintain infotypes SAP has given few standard function modules. use HR-INFOTYPE-OPERATION to maintain infotype data.
you can also use BDCs and LSMWs to upload data as well but never a quey unless if u dnt have ne other options and u knw exact impacts of the same.

Mass Data upload in SAP from 3rd party system

Hi Experts.
Can anyone help me how to do mass data upload in SAP. Actually, when any new joining is done, a form is being filled by employee(joining form), and that data is finally updated in SAP manually using various infotypes. Now, i m planning to make that form available in webpage. The employee will go to the webpage, fill the data , also the HR will fill the required fields, and once the form is complete, the data will get updated in SAP, in resp. infotypes. Like personal details in infotye 2, address in infotype 6, bank details in 9 and so on, in a single shot. Is there any BAPI or something like that, using which this can be achieved.

You can try BAPI_BANK_CREATE for IT0009, BAPI_ADDRESSEMP_CREATE for IT0006 and BAPI_PERSDATA_CREATE for IT0002. Otherwise, you can also use FM HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA to create any infotype.

Regarding PA data upload

Hi Experts,
I just wanted to have a discussion regarding PA data upload.
What we feel is that, it should be ok if we go with BDC for each of the infotrype.
hr_infotype_operation can be used but again it also use bdcdata only so it should not be a big performmance issue.
Both approach can be used as per the data upload and its' going to be one time only.
Can anyone of you suggest something regarding the same.
I have searched the forum and i got responses like bdc can be used ( some might sue FM also).
Can i have some comments from you guys regardimng the same ?

Then the second step is to identifying the fields for different infotypes, so while doing this you can create the template for each infotype. Along with this you also need to understand the source data means will it get directly uploaded or do any translation logic is required.
After this you can create LSMW's or BDC program.

>>If you want authoraizations and workflows for approvals. also if FI is integrated then its always best to have positions, organizational units, cost centers in place and the rellevant relationships between the objects.
You can create BDC using TCODE PP02 for creating positions, Jobs and their relationships.

Time management data upload

Hi,
I have to design a data uploading strategy for the HR infotype 2011(time management). Am new to HR.
1. let me know in which tabe can i see the fields for this infotype.
2. Which upload technique is best for Time management data .
3. We are taking the upload excel from a time machine where time-in and time-out is supposed to be maintained. But suppose if a person coomes and checks-in but forgets to check-out, then his entries for chek-out wont be uploaded into the excel but rest other will be .
can at this time I can code in to make the check-out to be +8 (eg he comes @ 2 and no check-out time then can we give check-out time to be 10 ), just for the moment . The logic will be told laater .
Also is it configurable by the functional team ? to induce this logic .

Hi Can any body suggest me or send me the sample, how to maintain xls. sheet Template of particular fields for Infotypes 0,1,2,7,8 etc for the purpose of data upload.

You can look into the Standard Business Blueprint Templates - Data Transfer Tool of SAP....and get an idea...
Check this Note 1060029 - SAP Best Practices for HCM US - Variants, Misc, LSMW ...
You will find files for infotypes and you can set up your templates based on these....
Other way is to
Go to SE11 >> Enter the Infotype Number PNNNN (with NNNN being the Infotype)...
It presents you with the structure.......Copy that structure and you can create your excel sheet with that template....

Data upload for vendor balances using BDC

hi abap experts,
I have a requirement on data uploading using BDC.
For the vendor balances ie. for transaction FBL1N ( I was given a template for vendor balance upload and need to write a BDC program for that ) I need upload the exsisting transaction data to the system. is recording necessary for this?
can u pls help me with step by step process for vendor balance uploading.

Please follow the following Steps:
Steps for recording:
Step1: Goto TCODE SHDB
Step2: Click on New Recording
Step3: Give the necessary Details such as TOCDE, Desc, ...
Step4: Do the screen by screen recording.(Please avoid extra screen to appear)
Step5: Save the recording.
Step6. Select the recording and click on Program button on toolbar.
Step7: Give the Program name and click on radio button Transfer from recording.
Step 8: It will open a new session with SE38 and a program with the recoding.
Step 9: then just add the basic code for BDC.

Basic Data Upload to MATERIAL Using LSMW is not working

we are using LSMW    /SAPDMC/SAP_LSMW_IMPORT_TEXTS program to upload the basic text of the material, all steps are executed correctly and shows records are transfered correctly , but the in MM03 the text is not uploading..

Error: while configuring logs for changes in infotype data

Hi All,
I am configuring the following Tables for maintain logs for changes in infotype data.
V_T585A, V_T585B and V_T585C
While configuring V_T585B, when i input * in 'field name' column it gives me an warning message " All data fields in **** infotype 31 will be deleted.
Please let me know, what does this warning message means?
Also, How is the report RPUAUD00 read?

Hi Simran,
you are not suppose to give the IT 0031-Reference Personnel Numbers in these tables. why because this will done at the time of Employee hiring only and we don't change this. if you change you will lost the old data in the IT.
Normally we assign only the IT which we change frequently for the master data. example like 0 1 2 7 8 9 27 582 - 589 2001 2006.
if you are configuring today means from today on-wards any changes had made to these IT's you can see in the report. before changes will not be seen. in the report you have to choose either long-term document / short-term document and remaining fields as per the requirement.

It completely depends on clients requirement. but following are few approaches:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.
2. Create a Building at specific location at asset code and
3. create asset sub numbers for other components.
other approach would be:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.
2. Create a Building at specific location at asset code and
3. create further asset codes for other components where field description will be used for relating each other.
