LSO vs. Traning & Event Management

Hello,
does anyone know in what way you can use LSO normally?
I am looking not really for a Training System but for something like Event Management handling.
Secnario is like this:
Company A offers lots of different courses. People from outside (other companies, vendors.. ) should be able being posted onto the specific course. themselves, -> via web.
After the couse has taken place each particpant should get an invoice and a certificate.The invoice should be posted direckty to FI. (SAP)
So my problem is now:
I know in a way Training & Event Management. I think most of the things could be done with it. But TM is a bit complicated.
Now comes my questions:
Is LSO a substitute for TM? Or is it possible to use LSO in my above mentioned way.

This is my understanding of LSO and TEM.
LSO - By itself contains the following components.
Training Management
Learning Portal
And
Yes LSO and TEM are different , as they address different needs of the customer.
and
LSO may also be termed as an alternative for TEM.
May be you can go thro the IMG documentation for LSO, to find out the changes in the infotypes that need to be done for LSO.
In case if u like to know about LSO.
You log onto Service Market place and traverse the following path.
SAP Support Portal -->Knowledge Exchange > Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer> mySAPHR.

  • Delivery Type Attributes in LSO/Training and Events Management

    We need to create an OJT delivery type for Courses.  It should allow for duration of the training and assignment of instructor, but not require a schedule nor a course content URL.  None of the standard delivery types fit this bill, so I would like to take one of them and modify the attributes, but the IMG does not easily allow this.
    My question is two-part:  1.  Is there a Delivery type that will accommodate the above requirements?  If not, then 2.  How do I modify attributes for a Delivery type to try to customize one that will do what we need it to?

  • Upgrade from Training and Events managment to SAP LSO

    Hi,
    We've upgraded from Training and Events management to SAP LSO 604 and during that process we have run the execute booking relationship harmonization node in IMG.
    We still have references to Business event groups and Business event type in themaster data catalog instead of Course groups and Course types. Are we missing something?

    LSO is learning solution
    it is an extension of training and event management, however its application HCM_LEARNING is web based.
    Where an employee can prebook,book and cancel courses from ESS, also the approvals if required can be taken care by workflows.
    Learning solution can further be described as
    E-learning - Web based trainings where the e-learning applications are picked from content server onto portal from the application.
    Learning- Which involves just booking/cancellation of courses be it web or classroom, and an administrator can also do the same on employees behalf through lso_psv1 and lso_psv2 and so on.
    As a functional person the configuration of the prebooking/booking/cancellation activities have to be configured and their corresponding processes.
    then followup activities of transfer of qualifications and appraisals and feedback on completion of courses, the config of the same.
    Initial preparation of the training catalogue.
    configuration of costs for trng/requirements of trng
    checks at any stage if required.
    and if web based trng then indexing of the same in content server.

    Is it true that SAP is not supporting Training and event management after 2010 year.

    LSO and T&EM have different functionalities. LSO is based on content with portal integration, whereas T&EM is used for activities like event creating etc.
    T&EM with LSO would be ideal for a large scale enterprise with frequent and repeated training needs for large number of employees. Process industries are a classic example.
    If client does not have a need for e-learning environment or prefer personal training, plain T&EM will do.

  • Correspondence, Traning and Event Management.

    Hello,
    i need to know if someone has configured the correspondence in Traning and event management with the help wizard?
    through the menu IMG <b>Traning And Event Managenment -- Day-to-Day Activities -- Correspondence -- wizards</b>.
    I tried to do that, i've followed the assistance's steps and i've configured the process to send the outgoing message as an e-mail,
    but when i try to simulate a participant's inscription to an event, the process dont send the confirmation's message (e-mail),
    and the participant obviously dont get the mail in his/her inbox. 
    Anyone knows how is the best way to configure the correspondence? or
    is there anything else that i need activate when i do the configuration part, that allows the process to send the confirmation's message?

    The Wizard does all the entries, you can follow up in the next menu items if you want to check what values each tables have.
    If you are able to book the course and no notification is generated then you should try to see if manual output is working, then it could be the problem with just the email.
    For email, the employees email should be maintained in IT0105 subtype 0010. The user id who is doing the booking should have an email id assigned to its user profile so that the system has some reference of sender;s email.
    Another place to look is two more steps down the wizard in IMG to see if all the fields that are declared mandatory has been maintained in your notification.

    The Difference between LSO and Training and Event Management are in the functions such as Authoring Environment, Learning  Portal, Online tests and ....... which are not available in TEM module.

    Can anyone guide me as how to create Training Events in bulk through SAP? I am getting stuck in all ways.. I am not sure where exactly FIRMLY BOOKED flag is stored coz of which we are not able to develop any programs.. Please guide me if ther is any way available to create Courses in bulk..

    Firmly Booked flag is stored in Infotype 1026. If you want to create courses (E) in bulk, use planning Menu (PSVP in Training and Event Management and LSO_PSVP in LSO)

  • Training and Event Management - Invoicing in different Countries

    Hello
    we are on SAP 4.7 110
    we have implemented training and event management in one company now for years and everything is runnig fine. We use also the SD-module to create invoices for the participants.
    We now want to introduce a new training company in another country. This means we need another Country for tax determination in billing. In customizing transaction OOSS I can only assign one default country.
    Does anybody know a way to set additional country settings for different training companies within on SAP client?

    There are some services like PV3I, PV7I, PV8I etc which you can find out using tcode SICF.
    The portal consultant can then create ITS based iviews for these services. 
    Since you are using EHP5, I think these services are now obselete. Please check further on this.
    As mentioned earlier, you can go for the LSO rather than TEM.

    Payroll-> Payroll: France->Training Needs Management->Activate Function Training Needs Management->then select the option -> Activate SAP Training Need Management. The system status wil become as SAP Training Need Management is deactivated.

    In Training and Event Management, there used to be Object Type <b>E</b> <b>Business Event</b> earlier and I see Object Type <b>E Course</b> in <b>ECC 5</b>. Are they the same? Is my assumption correct that it used to be called <b>Business Event</b> earlier and is now called <b>Course</b>.

      on introduction of Learning solution the terms which we used from TEM now changed to course, curriculum,course groups etc.both terms are used simultaneously based on usage of TEM or LSO.like........
    busness event - course
    BE type         - Curriculum type
    curriculum,E-Learning etc are introduced.

  • Appraisal for Training and Event Management

    Hi Friends,
    Hope every one doing well.
    I have a requirement regarding the Appraisal of Attendee and send to its reporting manager for review and Manger may change the rating and completed or reject for re-appraise from the attendee.
    Note: We are not using LSO, using old Training and event management and we don't have any ESS,MSS system simply doing in ECC system only.
    here i need the notification for the reporting manager once the attendee save his ratings, if i do with old appraisal functionality with APPCREATE & APPCHANGE system is not giving any notifications to the reporting manager.
    if i go to new appraisal system that is with PHAP_CATALOG and PHAP_ADMIN i am not able to get the course's what employee attended for the training.
    please can any one share your view how to do this.

    i can't go through new appraisal model with catalog & template, because client is not having ESS,MSS.  appraisal has to done in the ECC only.
    Done the customization like this :
    created scales
    created appraisal model and assign the scales
    for appraisal, Employee can do from APPCREATE transaction rate his own ratings and save.
    Now Appraiser (Manager) from APPCHANGE complete the appraisal.
    now my requirement is (1) after saving the APPCREATE by the employee, notification has to go to his reporting manager only. (2) Manager can do review/change and complete the process to his Employees only (who are reporting to him)
    how can i do this, standard functionality is there or i have to go for ABAP coding ? if ABAP coding what i have to ask them to do.
    Please help in this requirement.
