    Hello @drifterboy,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how the webcam is not working on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
Since you have attempted to remove and re-install the software, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point when the webcam was working. This can be done by following this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
If the issue persists, I also suggest performing a backup and recovery of your Operating System. This can be done by following this document on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8). This should help return your system back to factory defaults.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

    Hi FIXMYWEBCAM,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY m6 Notebook and having Webcam issues. Have you tried to uninstall the TrueVision Hd device? If you do restart the Notebook after you uninstall it. It should install the current driver for you. Have you tried to use the automated troubleshooting for Windows 8.1? Here is a document on how to restore your Windows to 8.
    Hope this helps,

Just got this system and I can't figure out how to start the web-cam. I don't know if it's the hardware, software or just me being dumb.    Thanks

    Howdy Happy:
No you are not dumb nor is it cam or software issue. I have addressed this issue several times in the forum. Oh how I wish the HP Moderator will post resolved answer. You found the web-cam software thats a pluss. So I can skip that. Least you found it. Slide the web-cam icon up ward and in the middle of screen and tap it. This now opens web-cam software. Your camera shoud now be on look at the center top of your computer you should see the green light on.  Bottom of web-cam sceen is your control for recording. Press capture to record video and press snap shot to take picture. Side bar is additional effects you can add to your picture or video tap on your choice. To replay your vedio or picture just tap on your choice. tap on the washer like icon von this is where you set web-cam timer settings and other stuff at. You should be all set now. It only can be excessed in HP Touchsmart software window.Carousel is rotated till you find web-cam icon. Version 3 software is located on bottom row icons slide bottom row until see web-cam icon. Slide Web-cam icon up and in center screen and tap it. Tap it again if you do not see capture button. All set now have fun.

  • Installed Leopard and macbook internal web cam not working

Istalled Leopard a few days ago and my internal cam (macbook) went dead as soon as it was installed. I have been reviewing discussions across the mac site and tried all of the following.
Updated to 10.5.1 and then 1.1, but to no avail. I also carried out all the other resets (battery out - held power button for 5 secs) and command / option P and R - but still not detecting the camera.
Please don't tell me it is a hardware problem as it was working a few hours before with Tiger and too many people seem to have the same problem.
I would be really grateful for any other ideas? ; o (

Did you do an upgrade? If so I would make a clone of your hard drive and do a erase and install. If that does not work then bring it in to the apple store to see if they can help.

  • Pavilion dv2000 built in web cam not working

    Hi, all-
I have recently discovered that my webcam no longer works and am wondering if this is due to a recent repair in the hard drive and motherboard this summer? I thought that maybe all it was missing were the drivers from the O/S having to be completely restored but I just downloaded the correct driver from the hp support site and then restarted the computer and the webcam still isn't apparent in the device manager. Where did it go??
Any and all help is certainly most welcome as I'd like to get back to Skype-ing.
    Thanks!

Goto Contol Panel -> Device Drivers
Look for a listing called 'Imaging Devices'
If it's there (probably not, since it's not working), that is your webcam (mine is a Simplo Webcam).
If not, look under the USB Devices, near the bottom of the list.
Once you've found your webcam, view its properties by double-clicking it (or highlight it and select Action ->Properties from the top menu bar).
You can try disabling/re-enabling it to see if it works.  This didn't work for me.
Rollback the driver.  Now see if it works.  ( worked for me).
The original driver was by Sonix.
After rollback, the driver is by PCT, and now it works.
Also, I recommend ZVRS over skype.

  • JRMC remote monitoring for web logic not working

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle 1031, and JRMC version 3.0.5. I have added following option to startWebLogic.cmd - JAVA_OPTIONS=”-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=host -Xmanagement:ssl=false,authenticate=true,autodiscovery=true,port=7091 export JAVA_OPTIONS"
I am able to see my weblogic JVM when I open JRMC in local and it is seen under Discovered --> Local. When i make a new connection in Local JRMC, it throws an exception - JAVA_OPTIONS=”-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=swperfap02 -Xmanagement:ssl=false,authenticate=true,autodiscovery=true,port=7091 export JAVA_OPTIONS"
Other than this, I am trying to access this JVM from a remote machine and it shows error "Unable to connect"
Please note that machine where web logic runs is in a different network compared to remote machine.
Can you please let me know what is wrong?

  • HP Pavilion dv9660ev Web Cam not working in any program.

The laptop in question is an HP Pavilion dv9660ev with a fresh Windows 7 ultimate 64 Bit install. I downloaded quickplay and searched many forums about the issue and can't find a solution. QuickPlay says that the webcam is in use, whereas Skype and Windows Live Messenger don't even have it listed. Please help. I really like the laptop and wanted to make video calls with it.
    Thank you in advance.

Integrated webcams are usually specially made to fit the bezel or LCD panel of the notebook.
The issue described is a driver issue.
It does not seem that any Windows 7 64bit drivers were made for this notebook.
You can try Vista 64bit drivers, but I did not see any webcam drivers listed.
More than likely, the webcam just won't work with Windows 7 as it wasn't really designed for it.
Using a driver for a different operating system that what is being used is really a hit or miss with no guarantee of functionality.
However, there is a small chance that there may be a driver somewhere out there that will work. Go to Start and search for Device Manager at the bottom and open it.
There should be an imaging section of hardware listed as long as Windows is using a generic Microsoft driver. Expand this category. Is there something that is identified as a webcam? If so, double-click it and go tot he Details tab. Change property to Hardware Ids and let me know what value it has listed.
The screen should look something like this image.

  • Built in web cam not working. help!

I currently have a Macbook pro with Mac OS X (10.6.4) and for some reason the webcam will not let me see myself. I have had chats with both Skype and through ichat with video working but i can only see the other party. For some reason I can't see myself. Any thoughts or suggestions. If i can't figure it out soon I'll have to take it to the apple store to see what they can do.
    Thanks!

Can you see yourself with PhotoBooth ? If so then it's just the settings/configuration on the other software you're using that's the issue ...
If not then it could be a hardware problem and Apple need to take a look.
