ASA 5520 - LU allocate xlate failed - Failover unit reloads
We just had an issue with our failover unit reloading. In perusing the logs there were a number of %ASA-3-210007: LU allocate xlate failed, errors prior to the reload. These units had just had their OS upgraded to fix a DOS issue a few weeks ago. I have not seen the error since it reloaded. However, I was asked to report the issue just in case it is a bug in the new version of the OS.Two units in failover.

Overlapping static with NAT exemption causes xlate errors on standby
Symptom:
"%ASA-3-210007: LU allocate xlate failed" appearing on standby unit
Conditions:
- Stateful failover enabled.
- Overlap between a static NAT rule and the NAT exemption.
-the "alias" command is used to rewrite destination ip address
Workaround:
in the nat exemption access-list deny specifically the traffic matching the source of the traffic with destination the alias'd ip address.
I looked at this bug report and it says the error was first found in 7.0/7.2. However, the client is running 8.4(1) on the ASA's. When this problem initially came to light, my co-worker found this bug report:
CSCth74844
http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCth74844&from=summary
This made sense since at the time they were running 8.32 and upgrading to a newer code seemed to be how to fix it according to this article:
http://www.techbloc.net/archives/31
However, even after the upgrade to 8.4(1), the problem still exists. Do we need to roll them back to the unreleased code that the above article mentions? Or should this problem have been fixed in the 8.4(1) release?
TIA for any ideas/suggestions. A call to TAC may be in order for this problem, especially since the workaround doesn't seem to be the best solution.Deyster,
To troubleshoot this issue, we first need to verify whether thios error message is cosmetic or are we really hitting into any known issue, to identify it, we need to fisrt verify whether the xlate tables on both the firewalls is approximate;y same or not.(you can do this by using show xlate commandf on the firewalls). If it is same and still we are getting these messages, then it is a cvosmetic issue(which does not affect the traffic).
This particukar message appears if the xlate tables are not correctly replicated between the active and standby unit in failover.
I would request you to provide the below debugs:
debug nat 5
debug fover fail
This would further help is in identifying the issue.
Hope this helps.

Connection limits questions.
Hi all.
i got a crahed 5520 this week and was showing
<163>Nov 28 2011 11:34:45: %ASA-3-201013: Per-client connection limit exceeded -125/100
What the negative number tells ? i usually see same numbers like 100/100 with means the connection limited has reached.
also the box was showing
<163>Nov 28 2011 19:51:17: %ASA-3-210007: LU allocate xlate failed
<161>Nov 28 2011 17:50:44: %ASA-1-105005: (Primary) Lost Failover communications with mate on interface OUTSIDE
from the last 2 log messages its showing that the box was out of resources correct ?
Thanks.The negative numbers reading is caused by a bug. Please see "CSCtl23397 - ASA may log negative values for Per-client conn limit exceeded messg".
The 210007 message is indicating stateful failover is out of resources. See this explanation.
Overall it appears your boxes may be pushing the limit of their capabilities connection-wise. Some further investigation would be required to determine whether that was a one-time event or indicative of a need to upgrade (memory or device). -
Internet Access from Inside to Outside ASA 5510 ver 9.1
Hi everyone, I need help setting up an ASA 5510 to allow all traffic going from the inside to outside so I can get internet access through it. I have worked on this for days and I have finally got traffic moving between my router and my ASA, but that is it. Everything is blocked because of NAT rules I assume.
I get errors like this when I try Packet Tracer:
(nat-xlate-failed) NAT failed
(acl-drop) Flow is denied by configured rule

Here is my ASA config, all I want for this exercise is to pass traffic from the inside network to the outside to allow internet access so I can access the internet and then look for specific acl's or nat for specific services:
Thank You!

PS Custom Format Plugin - Issue Reading Files 2GB & 4GB
Is this issue fixable within our format plugin code, or is it a photoshop limitation?
I am new to Photoshop & Photoshop Plugins. I have reviewed the sdk photoshop documentation & searched web on this subject.
I am working with a photoshop format plugin written by my predecessor who is no longer here.
The plugin is modeled after the simpleFormat plugin.
The plugin is being used on systems running Photoshop CS6 & CC on 64bit Windows 7 with 8GB or more memory.
The plugin allows a file of our format to be opened, read and written.
ISSUE:
The plugin works fine reading files < 2GB or > 4GB. For files between 2GB and 4GB, the call to allocate memory fails.
In the plugin's PIPL structure: the FormatMaxSize {32767, 32767} and PluginMaxSize {PlugInMaxSize { 2147483647, 2147483647 }
In the plugin code; the DoReadStart() method opens the file and reads the file header information. This works fine.
Next, in the DoReadContinue() method: SPsBuffer->New(&bufferSize, buffersize) is returning NULL. see below.
void PluginMain (const int16 selector,
FormatRecordPtr formatParamBlock,
intptr_t * data,
int16 * result)
gFormatRecord = reinterpret_cast<FormatRecordPtr>(formatParamBlock);
gPluginRef = reinterpret_cast<SPPluginRef>(gFormatRecord->plugInRef);
gResult = result;
gDataHandle = data;
sSPBasic = ((FormatRecordPtr)formatParamBlock)->sSPBasic;

OraOLEDB error raises frequently while application running. In between some time it skip the error and show the page perfectly.
Co-operate me just by suggesting how to resolve this problem.Row-00001 occurs when a windows api call to allocate memory failed.
This can occur due to a memory leak, or memory fragmentation.
Have you monitored private bytes and virtual bytes?
There was also an issue in old versions of the provider that caused this, so make sure your oledb provider and oracle client software are up to date.
Hope it helps,

How to connect to the internet with ASA 5515 X?
Hi all:
I just got my new ASA 5515 X firewall and I got stuck in the first steps.
I can ping a public IP (8.8.8.8) from the device but I cannot ping it from my LAN.
I know I am missing either NAT rules or Access rules or maybe both, but I need some help, please.
Thank you.ciscoasa# sho run

Oracle 11g install failure, error, Failed to allocate port(s)
I'm having a very hard time reinstalling Oracle 11gR1 x64 bit after the hard drive where I first installed it failed and had to be replaced. The database I'm trying to setup is for personal use on this system only. I'm running Windows XP professional 64 bit edition and have .net framework version 1.1.4322.573 installed.
During installation the process hangs at the Database Configuration Assistant stage and will not progress till I manually end the lsnrctl.exe process in taskmanager. During the completing database process at the end I get this error -
SEVERE: Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519],EM Agent [3938] | [1830-1849]
My first thoughts were the ports in question were in use or closed but I've been using both netbios and a port monitor program called currports to check and as far as I can tell the ports listed are open and not in use.
I did reconfigure the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files to include valid port addresses (1521) and I can get the lsnrctl.exe to start manually now but still can't connect to the database using an open SQL command prompt.
I also tried running the emca.bat but still no change. I need help, I'm beating my head against the wall now.
Here are my etc/hosts, etc/services, and emconfig.log files

I plug usb mass storage device to my macbook pro i7 than every thing is stack and i reinforce to shutdown and than I start again but mac fail to boot again.
I tried different optiones in disk utility in mac os startup disk. but still fail to repair, erase and partition. I try to fix with the steps listed in
https://discussions.apple.com/message/13288923#13288923
but it fail to partition with the msg:
Partition Failed
Partition failed with the error: POSIX reports: The operation couldn’t be completed.cannot allocate memory
pls pls pls help urgentely on this matter I stop working.
Kind Regards,
peHi again OGELTHORPE.
I've already run two hardware tests. One quick one and one extended one. It was unable to pick anything up.
It's like everything is running perfectly, but when I go to erase the HDD or partition it, it pops up with the error message. Even when I try to erase and partition using "Terminal", I received the same error message.
It's beginning to do my head in, but will see if replacing the SATA cable will make any difference. If it doesn't, I'll hazard a guess it could be the Logic Board.
Thanks again for your suggestions!

Hi,
I'm attempting to install oracle 10.2.0 on Solaris 10.
When I create a database i get the error:
Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): .....
So I look at the logs and there looks like to be some configuration issues but i'm not sure where to start.
I've changed the port from NULL to 1521 in listener.ora.
It worried me that it was set to null.
Ive tried running emca -config -all db ( not sure what central agent home should be set it as /app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1 seemed to accept that)
This gives me the same above error.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Please note im both a novice solaris and oracle user

ORA-06512: at line 1
The table has 2 columns:
POSTCODE VARCHAR2(9)
LOCATION MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY
I loaded the point data with sqlloader rather than geocoding, so this could be the root of my problem, maybe I've missed something obvious:
POSTCODE
LOCATION(SDO_GTYPE, SDO_SRID, SDO_POINT(X, Y, Z), SDO_ELEM_INFO, SDO_ORDINATES)
AB15 8SA
SDO_GEOMETRY(1, NULL, SDO_POINT_TYPE(3858, 8075, NULL), NULL, NULL)
AB15 8SB
SDO_GEOMETRY(1, NULL, SDO_POINT_TYPE(3864, 8077, NULL), NULL, NULL)
AB15 8SD
SDO_GEOMETRY(1, NULL, SDO_POINT_TYPE(3867, 8083, NULL), NULL, NULL)
I am trying to index using the following command, this is when I got the error:
SQL> execute geocoder_http.setup_locator_index('POSTCODE_POINTS', 'LOCATION');
User_sdo_geom_metadata has some metadata inserted with lat/long dimensions. My data is not in lat/long, so I updated this but still get the same error message.
Is it possible to use locator with data that's not in lat/long format?
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.1) If Locator needs lat/long coordinates, can anyone suggest a good route to convert coordinates for example from British National Grid to lat/long?
2) Are there plans for Locator to be able to use data from other coordinate systems like Spatial can? -
Failed to allocate native stream - Leopard 10.5.4
I've got this little class which runs off the EDT that plays sounds:
private class PlayThread implements ThrowableVoidAction {
public void act( Object o ){
byte tempBuffer[] = new byte[512];
try{
AudioInputStream ain = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream( Notify.class.getResourceAsStream( (String)o ) );
AudioFormat audioFormat = ain.getFormat();
DataLine.Info info = new DataLine.Info( SourceDataLine.class, audioFormat );
SourceDataLine sDataLine =(SourceDataLine)AudioSystem.getLine( info );
sDataLine.open(audioFormat);
sDataLine.start();
int cnt;
while( (cnt = ain.read( tempBuffer, 0, tempBuffer.length )) != -1 )
if(cnt > 0)
sDataLine.write( tempBuffer, 0, cnt );
sDataLine.drain();
sDataLine.close();
catch (Exception e) {
System.err.println( "[Notify|PlayThread] act : " + e.getMessage() );
}Works great in Linux/Windows XP/Vista, however, on the Apple 10.5.2+ JAva 1.6 build, it unfortunately spits out a "Failed to allocate native stream" in the catch block. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Just a bad Apple JRE?
Thanks in advance!
AlexIn addition, a clip as follows fails as well:
import java.io.FileInputStream;
import sun.audio.AudioPlayer;
import sun.audio.AudioStream;
public class Test {
String fileName;
private Test( String s ){
fileName = s;
private void play(){
try{
System.out.println( "About to play stream" );
AudioStream as = new AudioStream( new FileInputStream( fileName ) );
AudioPlayer.player.start( as );
System.out.println( "Stream executed" );
catch( Exception x ){
x.printStackTrace();
public static void main( String [] args ){
Test t = new Test( "sounds/msg.wav" );
t.play();
}It outputs the final "Stream executed", but no sound is ever played.. -
" Server Error [2009]: Failed to allocate resources for results data" IR Error
Hi,
We recently moved form 9.3.3. to 11.1.2.3 and we run only IR and SQR reports. When we run few IR reports we get the below error.
"Script(x):uncaught exception: Server Error [2009]: Failed to allocate resources for results data."
Any thought on what could be the cause. I changed the DSA setting, HTTP config settings for timeouts. I followed a oracle Knowledge base document to make sure I'm setting the right parameters still it doesn't work.
Any advise will be appreciated.
Thank you.Hi,
Can you please try to increase the timeout settings for workspace and check the issue.
You can refer following KM article for more information :
Hyperion Interactive Reporting (IR) When Processing a BQY in Web Client and iHTML Error: "Server Error [2009] Failed To Allocate Resources To Results Data" [ID 1089121.1]
To try in 11.1.2.x check these settings in workspace :
Please go to Navigate -> Administer -> Reporting and Analysis -> Web Applications -> Right click on RA_FRAMEWORK_LWA and select Properties. A
Window pops up. In that, go to Applications tab and then go to Data Access Servlet. There are two values there
i) Hyperion Intelligence Client Polling Time(seconds) => Set this to zero
ii) DAS Response Timeout => Set this to 3600
Restart the R&A services and WebApp after this change.
Hope this information helps.

Harish. -
