Lucky me, I have a vertical line too!

Hi fellow victims,
I have a PB 17" 1.5ghz serial W844... I woke up this morning to be greeted by a charming lime green vertical line 1/3rd from the left of the screen. It's about in line with the centre of the W in Window in the safari menubar.
Interesting thing is that I have a replacement monitor on my PB, it was replaced aboout 11 months after purchase, the last screen had an awful colour shift from one side to the other and in the corners was fading to black.
I did by a 2 year apple care warranty when the PB was returned but I'm not sure if it has expired yet, I'll have to find out.
Lead me the way to the complaints department people. These are supposed to be top of the range computers.
Christo

Just to finalise this post...
I had some difficulty with my Applecare warranty, which has been resolved. And I would like to say that the monitor has been replaced, it is much better than the one that was in it (which was a replacement too). They also replaced the keyboard, and advised me to replace the HD because the old one was worn and had a potential to fail. I did purchase a new HD and had it installed as well.
I just want to say that the support I received from the Apple reseller, Computers Now, in Sth. Melbourne, Australia, was the best service I have had. And my PB is now running better than ever.
If you have a laptop, my recommendation is to spend the little extra on an extended warranty. For me it has been well worth the expense.
Christo.

Hello, I downloaded an ntfs systemfile from tuxera and used it to convert a usb stick so I could put more than the fat32 4gb on, my Imac froze a while after so I turned it off the on and now I have blue vertical lines on boot up and the a white screen with lots of tine blue symbols after, mouse pointer moves but thats about it.
Have used R and cmd to get a menu up but once I choose one of the four options my mouse is rendered useless and I cant get any further, have downloaded, to another usb stick recovery disk assisstant and am trying to use that in conjunction with the lion option on the previously mentioned screen, computer was responding really slowly and has now frozen on the terms of software license agreement (maybe the last hurdle!) can anyone pleeeeeease help!!!!!??????

It's likely that the boot drive is failing, or that there's some other hardware fault. Run the Apple Hardware Test.

Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

I need some suggestion on how to debug.
just take over a project. The invoice is present using XML publisher. the template also called sub template for header and footer information. But there are vertical line between each column almost all the way from the header to the footer. I original though that must be the boarder from each column. but not really. I even delete all the column, or even the for-each@section... Still see the vertical liine. I won't see them at all in the template.

  • Powerbook G4 lcd vertical lines too see my youtube

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yYWdmUcymo
There is a lot of documentation on various websites and discussion boards about 17" Powerbooks with displays that break down after about 15 months of use.
I am unfortunate enough to own a 17" powerbook assembled in April 2005 in China - serial number beginning with W8. I believe this is the same time-period and factory location where hundreds (if not thousands) of identical machines were assembled that are now having the same colored-lines-in-the-display defect as my machine.
All these machines assembled at the same time, at the same place, using the same batch of LCD screens, are experiencing the same defect after the same amount of use.
Something stinks, and it smells like a manufacturing problem to me.
Does anyone know if Apple has man'd up and acknowledged the problem yet?
I'm looking for a lower to help me !!

Just ask Apple and you will hear that they have never heard about it.
My suggestion: Buy a new notebook (advisable not an Apple).

But these lines are shown when run report from Report Builder.

    Hi,
I am not sure about 11g Report, but generally , pl try to delete the line , create new line - check font of the line as well, some times this will solve your issue.

  • Pink vertical lines on rMBP - faulty connector??

I have pink vertical lines appearing on my rMPB (mid 2012) screen. I've had the screen replaced twice already for LCD burn in and then the second screen had dead pixels and chips in the glass. But now, a couple of months after the last replacement, I've started to get these lines appearing normally after the computer has been asleep for a while. Once it warms up it seems to become more stable, but as touching the actual screen (as in slightly opening or closing it) seems to alleviate the issue - I think it could be a problem with a cable connection or something. Thoughts??

Run Apple Hardware Test in EXTENDED MODE at least 3 times back to back. If you ran the basic test that is useless. I doubt a 5 year old machine is covered by any type of warranty however you can always check to see if there is an active recall. If there is and it's still active then take it to your local Apple Store or AASP for repair. If it's not covered as I suspect then you will have to have to pay for the repairs.

  • How to stop vertical line between columns repeating in 2nd column

    Hi there,
I have a report in which the details sections are repeated over 2 columns. I want to have a vertical line going down between the columns, however I don't seem to be able to place the line in the "dead space" between the sections, so I end up with the line repeated at the right hand side of the second column.
Can anyone suggest how to draw the line independently of the columning format?
    thanks
    -KarenB

oh duh! of course! The problem only started when I shortened the line to the last details section while trying to fix another problem... thanks for the tip! All fixed.
    cheers

  • T400's Vertical line issue

I'm not sure how Lenovo doesn't have recalls yet but in our company we have T430's T440's and T450's that have a vertical line on the LCD screen. Almost everyday we have 1-2 laptops with this issue. What's even worse is we purchased some T440p's last year and for some reason they were only under warranty for a year and not 3 years and now one of the laptops T440p ran out of warranty as of 7/20/2015 and it's having this Vertical line issue. What is one suppose to do in a situation like this? It's fairly a new computer. We've had this issue on brand new machines out of the box. How is lenovo not getting sued for this problem?

    Hai Deep,
Use Elements as suggested by Kodarapu.
Now goto Paragraph Formats create a format for Item lines.
    ex.
Name Paragraph Format as 'IL' Now click on the Push Button "Tabs" on bottom Right.
now in "Tab Position" enter the spacing that you need for your item dispaly
    ex.
    Number     Tab position       Alignment
    1               6.00   CH          LEFT
    2               25.00  CH         LEFT
    3               54.00  CH         LEFT
The above example is for 3 items
Now in your Script Windows-> Main
    do the following.
    /E           ITEM_LINE_A
    IL           &EKPO-EBELP&,,&EKPO-EMATN&,,,,&EKPO-TXZ01&
    Hope it SOlves your Issue.
    Cheers,

  • Iphone 5 gray vertical lines

    Any ideas:
I have my mother's iPhone 5.  Screen broke so we had it repaired at the Apple Store.  So now the same device has a "newer" display assembly.  However, all of a sudden, the screen went blank.  Apple Store acknowledged the issue and replaced the device.  However, two months ago, on the phone there are gray vertical lines and the touch is not responsive.  The phone works otherwise except for the LCD and touch screen.  The phone is out of warranty so I bought a display assembly, replaced it myself.  Since it was an "LCD" issue, replacing it would solve the problem.  However, even with the replaced display, the same problem persists.  I still have gray vertical lines and touch screen is unresponsive.
All connectors are seated properly.  Powercycled the battery.  Any ideas?

don't be afraid to upgrade, it's surely an hardware problem. If that thing happens again, go to apple store, they will repair it or gave you an other one, the warranty is one year .
