Lumia 1020 Battery wrong status

When you leave Lumia 1020 connected to the charger after the battery Full charge, the battery meter starts to decrease displaying false value for battery charge. To reset it to display the correct battery status, you should restart the phone.
The battery management software needs fix.

Thanks,
I understand TomTom is not a phone and has less fuctions than Lumia. For this reason its power consumption should also be lower. I believe though, that a phone maker like Nokia has put a lot more efforts to reduce and optimise power consumption.
I have now been testing with a 3.1 A charger in the car and it is able to charge the battery while navigating. The device does get hot, however, but as you say it is normal.
I did also try to use it when biking and was using a 10 Ah Powerbank with 2 A outlet. That did not seem to be able to overcome phone's power consumption, but the battery was slowly reducing charge. This arrangement would anyway allow several hours navigating, which is quite enough for normal use. Without this external battery its useless for longer biking or walking tours, unless you turn off navigation when it is not necessary. This is a bit complicated, though. TomTom is even worse for this kind of off-line use, its battery seems to be quite small.
I also noticed that it is important to remember to turn off navigation when keeping the phone in pocket, it really gets uncomfortably hot there.
I'll also have to study Lumia's manual a bit more carefully, as I had often difficulties in changing targets and turning off navigation. Probably just because I had misunderstood some instructions.

  • Lumia 1020 battery life with here+

My Lumia 1020 battery life is very poor when using here+ for navigation. The phone also gets hot. Typically it only can be used for about two hours.
Even when connected to the car cigarette lighter outlet the battery consumption is faster than charging and the phone gets hot.
Is this normal or should I send it for service? The phone is about 4 months old and in normal use the battery life is more than one day and I have not noticed any heating either. I have installed all available updates regularly. I have also installed the maps I normally use into the phone.

    Thanks,

  • Nokai lumia 1020 ext battery and case need

this would be a great option for the nokia lumia 1020 for us that want the good pictures but a bit more protection as an option to the nokia camera grip.....a design incorporated when blu had an issue with a battery life of there studio phones
nokia could easily adopt a concept like this with there resources , would be an awesome avenue for nokia to adapt to the concept of more protection for the lumia 1020

  • Lumia 1020 updated battery saver problem

After updating the mobile software the battery saver application is not working well. The soft keys at bottom are working but back light is always in off . Please give some new update regarding this issue. When battery saver is in off condition also the soft keys back light is not working. Rectify it by an update.

Good day, vishnu9. You referring to the official Lumia Cyan Windows Phone 8.1 update, right? Since the issue happened after the recent SW update, have you tried verifying if your Lumia 1020's system apps have been updated as well? Just go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates. After this step, monitor the phone's performance and see if the back light of the capacitive keys will work fine. Keep us posted.
BTW, welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community!

  • Lumia 1020 | High battery usage

    Hi,
I´m wondering if 20% battery usage while doing some whatsapp messaging and internet browsing per hour is the normal behavior of the Lumia 1020?
I only have battery sense, Bing weather and Whatsapp activated as background tasks. Bluetooth and NFC is turned off. I usually close my apps after using them so I only have one or two apps running. Screen Brightness is set to low.
    Thanks!

Genrally I just use anything I like when I have access to top up, ie sat at m,y desk using usb charger, if out and about tend to turn off most apps and radio antenna to save power, or carry mobile charger with me. As you proved either flight mode or not using the phone drastically reduces power consumption. My phone generally lasts the working day even if used heavily, if I am busy actuallt working and not playeing on my phone it will have over 60% left at the end of the working day and that's with Twitter, FB and two mail accounts running along with a couple of other apps, Bluetooth , wifi and 3G.
If whatsapp is the culprit , just turn off when you know you will not be able to get a top up charge.
    Good Luck

  • Lumia 1020 Freezes, Battery Heating Up, OS Crashes...

Hi there everyone, this is my first post here, I hope I can get some help from you guys regarding my problem with my lovely Lumia 1020.
10 days ago, I received my Lumia 1020 ( it was a gift from a friend from Norway), I live in Iraq. So warranty isn't provided here cause I went to Nokia Care in my country, they checked the IMEI and they told me that this phone wasn't imported by them, so no warranty is provided for it.
Once I powered up my phone, completed settings,  it checked for an update and asked me to download it. And sure I did download it at once!. Kept updating until it reached the latest Lumia Cyan Update. Checked and saw I have a WP 8.1 phone.
Took some photos, here and there, everything was going good. Plugged in the charger to charge my phone. Then an hour later I went to check the charge and I was surprised to see my lovely Lumia 1020 heating up like crazy!!! .. I'm talking about severe heating, not a normal one due to charging.
Plugged out the phone from the charger ( original Nokia charger provided with the original box ), and I tried to unlock it, but no way! it doesn't respond to anything at all, Glance screen was stuck at the time of an hour ago. Quickly opened my laptop and googled the issue and did a soft reset at once. Then put the mobile in front of the air conditioner until it cooled down. Time/Date was reset ( very annoying ) but everything was normal ever since until at some random time, the phone freezes. Sometimes it doesn't heat up, I wait for 5 minutes or so and the phone reboots by itself. But there are times that the phone is stuck for hours ( no heat though ) so I have to soft reset it manually. And there are times when the phone freezes and heats up like crazy and I soft reset it on purpose being afraid that something might happen to the phone.
Googled everywhere, tried everything: Replaced charger, Replaced SIM card, Tried Airplane mode, Factory Reset, Nokia Software Recovery, Disabling Background apps, Disabling/Enabling Location w/wo NFC, Deleting FB & Skype, Disabling Glance & Double Tap to wake, Downgrading to WP 8 ( both Amber & Cyan via Nokia Care Suit ), ... etc everything software related has been tried. And the phone still freezes randomly. Which leads me to say that it's definitely a hardware defect that is causing these issues as my friend has the exact phone, everything enabled, and not a single freeze.
I'm desperate here, if anyone of you could give me an advice, I would be thankful.
Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with it.
As you mentioned here, you've done everything that can be done to your phone software wise, and it still plays up.
And as you further mentioned, it's related to hardware failure.
As your device is not covered by warranty in Iraq, you will either have to pay for the repairs down there or send it back to your friend in Norway who can then send it in for warranty repair/replacement.

  • Lumia 1020 restarts automatically

Hi, I have purchased the lumia 1020 a month ao and I find the following problems.
    1) The phone restarts automatically about 15 times a day/
    2) when running apps such as nokia cam or Here drive, the phone freezes. I have to wait for the battery to drain down and then boot the phone again. Until recently i found out how to do the soft reset.
    3) while taking videos, the phone does not capture the audio. The same thing while recording audio, the phone doesn't seem to record voice.
    4) When on a call, and I switch to speaker phone, I hear the person on the other line, but the other person dont seem to hear me.
    5) I feel that the camera compared to my 808 pureview is pretty inferior. I gte a lot of yellow mixes and the photos are quiet blurred at 2X zoom. Even tried with a tripod. the pictures come out Blurry.
Nokia customer care in Canada sucks. All they tell me is they cant help me out.
    Kindly guide me.

  • Micro SD Card for Nokia Lumia 1020

I work in a photo printing lab and over the years technology has changed in many different ways. Customers have moved from the old film cameras to digital cameras. But now they are moving from digital cameras to phone cameras. This move is because of the improved image quality.
I was very excited to hear of Nokias new release the Lumia1020. The image quality of the 1020 has far surpassed anything else on the market. This was the phone that I've been waiting for.
But as I work in a photo lab and deal with many customers with many different types of camera phones. I see the difficulties most of them have with printing a few pictures. Bluetooth is very slow. Using a cable works only 5% of the time. infrared doesn't work anymore on most of the new machines.
But 50% of the phones use SD CARDS. Its simple, fast and the most efficient way of printing your images.
The phone that I've been waiting for, the Nokia Lumia1020, does Not use SD CARD. I hope I've received the wrong information about this phone. For me it is essential to actually print the photographs that i take. And without the use of an SD CARD i would find it difficult to do this.
If the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications are correct. Then I'll have to wait a little bit longer to upgrade my phone. If anything happens to my Nokia N8. I'll have some serious decisions to make.
Can anyone prove me wrong on the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications?

    jimmyireland said:
"Not strange at all that lower end support sd .Built in memory vs sd card is all cost."
I still would say that a more expensive line should be worth the cost since as customers we are paying a premium for it. So although it is "all cost" customers deserve more since we are paying more.

"Most memory cards are mounted internally which requires removing the back cover and in most instances the battery."
If Nokia would put their minds to it Im confident that their clever engineers would be able to provide a hot swapable solution somewhere externally at the same time make it look good and not interfere with usage ie needing to take battery out. Woulnt this just showcase another of Nokia's engineering prowess?
"I can upload my pictures to skydrive..."
If you were to take many hidef pix, movies etc, how long would it take to upload to skydrive as compared to transfering an sd card onto your pc? Or even putting in a blank memory card a making immediately available huge numbers of GB?
"Removing a memory card to transger data is old school"
I have to go the other direction. Adding memory card support only adds more fuctionality to the phone. Adds more room to install apps, add more room to store music, vids that you can keep with you. Adds the ability to add virtually unlimited storage to your phone. And dont forget the cost of data from your network provider when your away from your wifi.
Scenario I like to have my phone stocked with the apps I like. Now this uses some space. I have pics and vids of nice memeories I like to keep with me on the phone and I like to keep a lot with me thus reducing the fixed storage of the phone. If Im outside taking pictures/vids, the more I take the less my avaliable storage becomes. Isnt it a very practicle thing to do that I whip out a memory card and viola 64GB of storage without needing to shut off the phone.
Now isnt that a big plus? If more space does not equal a plus then why would MS charge you more for more skydrive space? Its because its a premium. You might say "how on earth are you gona use all that space on the phone and on skydrive?" Years ago people also thought 200GB was massive for a HDD. You will find a way to use it. And if you cant use that space others will.

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 power consumption

    Hello,
On 5th of October 2013 I bought from Vodafone Romania a Nokia Lumia 1020. OS version: 8.0.10328.78. Firmware revision number: 3049.0000.1330.1001. Manufacter Name: RM-875_eu_hungary_298.
I'm syncing Microsoft Account daily (contacts only, no e-mail), one Outlook Exchange account every 15 minutes, one Google account every 30 minutes and one Yahoo! Mail account every hour.
I have also configured Twitter account, Facebook account and Nokia account. The Facebook application (the one developed by Microsoft) has notifications turned off. For Twitter I'm using Rowi application and this one also has notifications turned off. On home screen I have the Me tile which displays notifications when there are new items on Facebook and Twitter.
    The Facebook settings are:
    - Notifications: No notifications
    - Lock screen: Off
    - Location : Off
    - Enable shake to refresh: On
In Settings > Applications > background tasks > advanced I have:
    - AccuWeather
    - Battery Performance
    - extras+info
    - Facebook
    - HERE Drive+
    - Nokia Care.
I never leave applications running in background (the multitasking list is empty).
I'm on 3G. My data plan does not allow me to use 4G.
For the most part of the day I'm at work, in the office, and I'm not using my phone. It stays idle. Glance screen is configured on Peak so my phone's display is turned off most of the time.
I have WiFi turned off, NFC turned OFF, location turned off, XBOX syncronization turned off, music and videos syncronization turned off, find my phone turned off.
Today, I have received no phone calls, I have not dialed anybody, and my phone stayed on my desk for almost 9 hours. I did not take any pictures with my phone today.
And yet, for the most part of the day (from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM), the Battery Performance application showed a steady discharge rate of 2% per hour.
Is this normal for a new Nokia Lumia 1020 in those given circumstances?
    Thank you.
    Cosmin Petrenciuc

Totally normal mate, you should get a wireless charger + shell and use your phone more and enjoy it between placing it on the charging plate on your desk!!

  • Nokia WH 930 and Lumia 1020

I just bought the Nokia Purity HD on ear headphones (WH 930) and the in line volume and playback controls don't work with my Lumia 1020. Was I wrong in assuming that they would be compatible?

i would assume that they would work too. i have WH-920 and all the controls work fine with my Lumia 1020. have you checked that you are up to date with the latest firmware for your device and that you are up to date with the latest nokia system app updates frmo the Store? also try performing a soft reset.

  • Lumia 1020 locks up

Bought the phone on 8/23/2014 - it started locking up immediately.
Sent the phone to repair on 10/19/2014.
Returned on 10/27/2014, but the repair ticket did not indicate they did anything to it.
Still locks up, so I tried to send it back for repair, but they now claim it is no longer under warranty.
Is this how Nokia stands behind their products? As soon as their is an issue, they drop it off warranty?
I would love to just throw the damn thing away, but it is under a two year telephone contract.
So I go to the webiste to try to get assistance with what has now become a somewhat desperate issue.
No phone contact info, no chat support, no help whatsoever.
Am i just screwed for buying Nokia?

  • Lumia 1020 contacts shown partially

    Hello
Just purchased Nokia Lumia 1020 few days ago and I'm still struggling to get all my contacts from Android to Windows Phone.
I've tried these import methods so far:
Backed up my contacts on Android to SIM and imported those contacts to Windows Phone contacts
Used Transfer My Data on Windows Phone
    Both cases showed no errors.
Weird thing is that if I try to import from SIM again it says that they are all in Contacts and when I search for contacts they are all there*, but when I browse my contacts only very small portion of all my contacts are shown
I need to see them all
    * - All contacts are also shown in Windows 8 Mail client under People
PS Some things I don't like about that phone:
    Battery is not replaceable
My BT headset isn't working that I used with SE Arc, yet my ancient (8-9 years old) BT headset works with Lumia (didn't work with Arc), but it's just an earpiece, I can't listen music with it. (Could be Sony Ericsson restriction, headset and Lumia hands free BT profiles are both 1.5)
No HDMI output for a high-end phone ?
Can't add additional storage in the form of a SD card or some other card
    Solved!

Some of your contacts will probably be on your google account. Export them from there
    Log in to http://contacts.google.com
export contacts to a .csv file (more>export)
Download and install Windows Mail from the Windows Essentials
Log in with your Microsoft account
    Import the .csv file
Your contacts will sync to  your Microsoft account and your phone as a result
If you are not on Windows 8 then Windows Mail is actually a pretty convenient mail client to manage your calendars and contacts on your PC.

  • Cannot connect lumia 1020 to PC

Hi, I just bought the lumia 1020 and have been trying to connect it to my windows 7 professional PC. Unlike a similar problem that involves a yellow warning sign on the portable device icon, in my case the portable device icon itself never shows up in the device manager and yet although it is connected to the PC using the usb cable that came with it, it does manage to charge either way.
I've already tried installing windows phone app on my PC, as well as  turned off the phone and switched it back on (same for the PC) but to no avail. Would greatly appreciate any help on the matter.

Tx for the quick reply, unfortunately i tried it and it didn't work. I'm also noticing that although the charing icon appears when plugged in, the battery still continues to drain. I tried my previous nokia N900's USB cable and the problem remains the same, so I can rule out any cable issues. Then again I'm not entirely sure if the two issues are connected, so I don't know if there's anything else worth trying out before calling it a software fault.

  • Lumia 1020 touchscreen registering ghost input (an...

I was looking to get some guidance on whether the issues I'm experiencing with my Lumia 1020 are known hardware/software issues, or indications of defective hardware that I should get replaced under warranty. My Lumia 1020 is an AT&T phone in the US.
The main issue I'm having is, on occasion, the touch screen seems to behave erratically, registering input even when I am not touching the screen. I can't seem to figure out how to reproduce it reliably, but it seems to happen at least once every day. The phone seems to think something is touching parts of the screen, as it launches apps, types garbage on the keyboard, bounces the lock screen up and down, etc, all without me even touching the device. And of course, when I do touch the device, it either doesn't register, or 'fights' with the ghost input, and basically doesn't do what I want.
The only partial solution I've found is to try and turn the screen off and on a few times (just pressing the power button normally -- not doing a full reboot). Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't. But overall, this issue is extremely irritating and problematic. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Now, in addition to the touch screen issues, I continually find that hte battery indicator is not accurate, even after a full charge. It regularly reports significantly lower than what I think the actual charge is, and when I reboot the device, it seems to correct itself. For example, the phone is plugged in and charging over night, but when I unplug it in the morning, after a few minutes it shows it is down to less than 20%. I reboot the device, and sure enough, it's back up to 97%. Known software issue, or do I have a bad device?

Hello guys, I also would like to report a problem with my Lumia's 1020 touch screen. The problem occurred the very first day I started using it. Please see the attached images for reference.
    1) Usually, the first row of live tiles starts right under the time that is located at the right upper corner
    2) After the problem appeared, all the tiles are shifted down by approx. half size of the smallest tile. I can drag all the tiles back to its normal state, but when I press back button ("<-", located at the bottom) to get back to a default arrangement of tiles, I again get back to the situation where all tiles are shifted (please, see pictures).
    3) My phone software versions are on a separate print-screen.
    4) Software restart didn't help and I have these gut feelings that the issue is on a hardware side of the Lumia 1020, probably digitizer's firmware.
    5) I had similar issues with Lumia 920 which I had to return due to its touch screen problems.
I would be very glad if this issue could be resolved for me.
