Lumia 1020, BIG dissapointment so far!

My new 1020 is not what I expected, yet I have not even used the camera which I hope will be as good as the 808 PureView phone camera.
Ok, I transfered my (SIM)constacts via bluethooth from my old 808 PureView, no problems, but where in the world do I get a list of contact in the 1020?? Ofcoarse now when Microsoft is involved..."contacts" for them are email addresses and people on the MSN/Skype contact list too...When pressing the ordinary Nokia "phonebook" symbol, it says "CONTACTS" on top, then below "all" and below then "configure account" and below that "import SIM contacts" which I can not press because there are no contacts on my SIM card probably. I need to press the magnifyin glass and typ a letter and the copied SIM contacts containing that letter pops up along with e-mail addresses från both my Hotmail accounts which I have unboxed in the settings but ofcoarse still shows as contacts....this is alot of pressing to just make a simple phonecall! The "phonebook" symbol should ONLY show a list of alla phonenumbers ofcoarse! What is wrong??
This 1020 really feels like my old Sony Acro...poor quality on the display, too big for one hand use(and I have large hands) and typing a sms is really hard hitting those small button so close together! Where do I find the alphanumeric keypad for fast sms´ing?
And watching photo is somewhat a nightmare in the 1020 compared to the awesome 808 PureView...I trasnferd lost of pictures to my 1020...many from the old 808 PureView....ALL photos appear to be a little bit blurry on the 1020...and you can not zoom in much at all, only one stage with dubbleclick and then all the way to 100% manually but not more which was possible in the 808...in the 1020 is seem it does not care if its a 300KB pictures or a 38 Megapixal picture, It zoom in the same on both...which is not enough for the 38 Mpixel and way way too much for a small 300KB picture...and this blurryness is ofcoarse something Nok....eh..Microsoft have done to make the phone faster...Even my fast computer can not handle these megabig photos in the speed the 1020 currently do....soo...can I please watch my 38Megapixel photos in full resoluton please so I can see all the fine details like in the 808 PureView?
And how can I see the 4G and battery symbol ontop all the time and not just 2 seconds? Its so tiny taskbar anyway, let it be shown, I wanna see whats goin on op there..especially my signal strength!
Ive optimated the phone so much everywhere now so I have not yet discoverd the camera...its nice the 1020 is fast and email accounts are up to date constatly which i great, but its not yet as high end phone like the 808 Pureview, its more like an better copy of my old Sony Acro S Android phone..... someone please solve my issues obove!
Such great flagship phone must be able to show photos in fullresolution even though it may take a second to load the orginal photo liek the 808 PureViev and even the N8 had to do to process a 12 Mpixel pic.
And only one kind of keyboard?? Gotta be more different types..where are they?? Man I wished this 1020 came in the 808 shell...it was a dream for one hand use! Even Apple realised this when they created their latest Iphone....

Most of your 'objections' are easily spotted when you see the phone in a shop or even when you read the specs. How do you figure a phone with a 4.7"display will be the same size as one with a 4inch screen?
Many things in WIndows Phone work a bit different from what you may be used to on the 808PV yes. But those are things you are used to more that better or worse. You can easily have the cellular connection, WiFi and more indicators available all the time by simply adding them to the startscreen and putting a small tile across the top or anywhere you like. There is a multitude of apps for this purpose in the store like WiFi livetile and Cellular livetile.
The 1020 screen resolution is four times that of the 808PV so icons and text will appear smaller in the same pixel height. Zooming into photos with pinch zoom is far more detailed as you seem to indicate and I think it's more a matter of getting used to this than anything else (again). The keyboard is not customisable or replacable. I personally do not see anything wrong with it though.
The People Hub is much more than a contact list, it is the place where you find everything about the people you know and communicate with. If you want a more 'oldskool' experience there are (again) many apps available in the store like rapdialer.
Lastly, I get that starting with a new phone and a new OS is challenging sometimes, but to say the 1020 is to big (even with big hands) is pushing it IMO. It may take a little time to get used to the larger size but that will happen soon enough. Also you may want to consider people would be much more willing to help and assist when someone comes in here and ask for help of suggestions as they are new to the phone and ecosystem as opposed to someone who comes in basically guns blazing and with a negative mindset.
If you do not like the phone no one is forcing you to keep it, you have had ample time to inform yourself and you are not new here so you might have popped in before hand and ask questions. It would have prepared you better and woudl most likely have put  you in a different mindset from the start.
That said, if you want to know, ask! many of us here will be happy to help..

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 FAULT! Keeps taking pictures

Hi recently bought a Lumia 1020 and yes so far impressed only on 2 occasions it has started taking pictures at a random first time was a couple of days in so I factory reset the phone and it was fine for a bit and it's doing it again can anyone advise as I don't want to have to keep re booting my phone thanks.

The camera turns itself on and keeps on taking pictures so I press back to come off the camera this lasts all of 2 minutes of that before it starts itself up again making the phone pretty impossible to use. Thanks

  • Micro SD Card for Nokia Lumia 1020

I work in a photo printing lab and over the years technology has changed in many different ways. Customers have moved from the old film cameras to digital cameras. But now they are moving from digital cameras to phone cameras. This move is because of the improved image quality.
I was very excited to hear of Nokias new release the Lumia1020. The image quality of the 1020 has far surpassed anything else on the market. This was the phone that I've been waiting for.
But as I work in a photo lab and deal with many customers with many different types of camera phones. I see the difficulties most of them have with printing a few pictures. Bluetooth is very slow. Using a cable works only 5% of the time. infrared doesn't work anymore on most of the new machines.
But 50% of the phones use SD CARDS. Its simple, fast and the most efficient way of printing your images.
The phone that I've been waiting for, the Nokia Lumia1020, does Not use SD CARD. I hope I've received the wrong information about this phone. For me it is essential to actually print the photographs that i take. And without the use of an SD CARD i would find it difficult to do this.
If the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications are correct. Then I'll have to wait a little bit longer to upgrade my phone. If anything happens to my Nokia N8. I'll have some serious decisions to make.
Can anyone prove me wrong on the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications?

"Not strange at all that lower end support sd .Built in memory vs sd card is all cost."
I still would say that a more expensive line should be worth the cost since as customers we are paying a premium for it. So although it is "all cost" customers deserve more since we are paying more.

"Most memory cards are mounted internally which requires removing the back cover and in most instances the battery."
If Nokia would put their minds to it Im confident that their clever engineers would be able to provide a hot swapable solution somewhere externally at the same time make it look good and not interfere with usage ie needing to take battery out. Woulnt this just showcase another of Nokia's engineering prowess?
"I can upload my pictures to skydrive..."
If you were to take many hidef pix, movies etc, how long would it take to upload to skydrive as compared to transfering an sd card onto your pc? Or even putting in a blank memory card a making immediately available huge numbers of GB?
"Removing a memory card to transger data is old school"
I have to go the other direction. Adding memory card support only adds more fuctionality to the phone. Adds more room to install apps, add more room to store music, vids that you can keep with you. Adds the ability to add virtually unlimited storage to your phone. And dont forget the cost of data from your network provider when your away from your wifi.
Scenario I like to have my phone stocked with the apps I like. Now this uses some space. I have pics and vids of nice memeories I like to keep with me on the phone and I like to keep a lot with me thus reducing the fixed storage of the phone. If Im outside taking pictures/vids, the more I take the less my avaliable storage becomes. Isnt it a very practicle thing to do that I whip out a memory card and viola 64GB of storage without needing to shut off the phone.
Now isnt that a big plus? If more space does not equal a plus then why would MS charge you more for more skydrive space? Its because its a premium. You might say "how on earth are you gona use all that space on the phone and on skydrive?" Years ago people also thought 200GB was massive for a HDD. You will find a way to use it. And if you cant use that space others will.

  • Lumia 1020 isn't recognized by Windows 8.1

I just installed Windows 8.1 and when I plug in my Lumia 1020, it isn't recognized.  In Device Manager it shows up under "Other Devices" as "Nokia Lumia 909 (RM-877)".  I understand that the 909 and the 1020 are the same so no mystery there.  When I right click and tell it to update the drivers, it says that there are no drivers available.
I read in another thread where someone was having a similar problem and powering off the phone and then reconnecting it via the USB cable seemed to cause it to be recognized.  I am not having any success doing that.  I have gone through the steps listed by Microsoft also without any luck.
I also have a laptop running Windows 7 and my phone is recognized by that computer without any trouble at all.  So, I don't *think* it is a hardware problem.
I went so far as to re-install my OS.  I patched it, updated the BIOS and didn't connect or install anything else (besides the patches) before connecting my 1020.  Once I hooked up my 1020, still nothing.  Can't update drivers from the internet or from the downloaded drivers.
    What is going on?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Look at other devices that are not loaded correctly.  Not the USB
If your operating system did not come with Windows Media Player, install the Media Feature Pack for your version of the operating system.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/download-windows-media-player
Use the USB cable that came with the phone.
Connect the phone to the PC.  Turn it all the way off, hold power button and slide the screen down. The phone will turn back on and it will be detected, drivers should load.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.

  • Lumia 1020 auto focus in video when used in apps.....

Hi. If I want to take a video clip up close using the Nokia Lumia 1020 on WhatsApp or Skype, the auto focus just will not fire. It stays zoomed out, and is only useful for taking clips really far away. This is incredibly frustrating given that I bought this phone for the camera.
Is this a bug in the phone? or is my phone broken?
Auto focus only works when using the actual camera app. Skype and WhatsApp seem to ignore the "auto focus" setting that I've turned on in the default camera app and the Nokia Camera app...
    Really disappointed.
    Jez

not sure as i haven't used those apps myslef, but for example, if you use Vine, there is a setting in there that allows you to lock the focus. it appears to me that auto-focus isn't automatically enabled / enabled at all in certain apps. you will need to contact the developers of the apps themselves for further feedback, as this is a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services.

  • Lumia 1020 contacts shown partially

    Hello
Just purchased Nokia Lumia 1020 few days ago and I'm still struggling to get all my contacts from Android to Windows Phone.
I've tried these import methods so far:
Backed up my contacts on Android to SIM and imported those contacts to Windows Phone contacts
Used Transfer My Data on Windows Phone
    Both cases showed no errors.
Weird thing is that if I try to import from SIM again it says that they are all in Contacts and when I search for contacts they are all there*, but when I browse my contacts only very small portion of all my contacts are shown
I need to see them all
    * - All contacts are also shown in Windows 8 Mail client under People
PS Some things I don't like about that phone:
    Battery is not replaceable
My BT headset isn't working that I used with SE Arc, yet my ancient (8-9 years old) BT headset works with Lumia (didn't work with Arc), but it's just an earpiece, I can't listen music with it. (Could be Sony Ericsson restriction, headset and Lumia hands free BT profiles are both 1.5)
No HDMI output for a high-end phone ?
Can't add additional storage in the form of a SD card or some other card
    Solved!

Some of your contacts will probably be on your google account. Export them from there
    Log in to http://contacts.google.com
export contacts to a .csv file (more>export)
Download and install Windows Mail from the Windows Essentials
Log in with your Microsoft account
    Import the .csv file
Your contacts will sync to  your Microsoft account and your phone as a result
If you are not on Windows 8 then Windows Mail is actually a pretty convenient mail client to manage your calendars and contacts on your PC.

  • Lumia 1020 doesn't focus up close (macro)

According to the specs, the Lumia 1020 should be able to auto-focus as close as 15cm. However, my phone consistently has trouble focusing that close. Typically, if the subject is between 15cm and 25cm away and I hold down the shutter half-way to focus, or touch the screen on a focus point, the focusing system temporarily focuses, but then immediately "pops back" out of focus.
SOMETIMES I can focus up to around 15cm, but it's not consistent and so I've been finding it difficult to get macro shots in general with the phone.
Has anybody else had this problem, or is possibly just an issue with my specific phone?

I've never managed to get as close as 15cm,  I've so far been standing further back and then digitally zooming in. if you have bright light then the technique works exceptionally well
some of the bods have been getting some great shots using the manual focus, have a look at this thread from a while back
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pictures-and-Videos/Lumia-1020-impressive-camera/m-p/2124983#M10511
I've had the phone since the 17th Sept. and it's a great camera but I think it needs a different mindset, it's not as simple as just point and shoot.  One thing that struck me on using it after an SLA is how wide angle the lens is, it's like shooting with a permanently attached wide angle lens,  and I think this is the cause of the problem.
I think I need two extra elements to make it into an awesome macro machine.
    1)  something like this http://www.olloclip.com/    to refocus the lens onto a small area.  (if you couple this with the 1020 camera, it would be amazing not far off a small microscope)
    2)  an app that will save your manual setting as a list of favorites so you don't have to constantly set them back up each time you turn the camera on.

  • Lumia 1020 shut down

My lumia I got back in December before Christmas it worked great till the new update 8.1 came in I downloaded it three weeks ago an it worked fine till the next day.
I usually watch a video or u tube on the phone when a go to bed so I did an woke up an checked the time phone was off.
I left it to c if it would start again later but it never. Every morning I wake up an have to press all buttons on the side to get it on again. It always resets the date and time to 22 may at 3am and am never sure that when a go to check for msgs or missed calls later in the day if its going to be on if its not al press all buttons on side to switch it on again I have no other issues with the phone Av not downloaded anything in over a month so its nothing to do with that it was a great phone till I updated the software to 8.1

Welcome to the Nokia forum, sarahleckie and Darren45.
sarahleckie After updating your phone's software, did you also update its system apps? Go to Store > ... > downloads to check or scan the QR codes listed here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082. Try press and holding the volume down key and the power key at the same time for about 10 seconds until the phone vibrates. Monitor your phone's behavior after doing this fix. Let us know if there's any changes. This will not delete any of your personal files, but the date and time will change to the default values. If the automatic date and time setting is not supported by your operator, you need to set the correct date and time manually. There are also fixes provided in the link provided by Darren45 that you can try. See: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Lumia-1020-freezes-at-Lockscreen-randomly/td-p/2056102.
Darren45 Thanks for sharing the links. Apart from soft reset, what other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? We'd appreciate you sharing all the fixes you've tried to possibly resolve the issue for us to check further information about this. We hope to hear from you soon.
    Have a good one!

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 Recording Questions

I'm planning on recording a show that I am involved in with a Nokia Lumia 1020 (which I haven't actually got yet), but was wondering whether it's possible to use the 1020 as just a camcorder and live capture/save the video file to a laptop?
I've heard ways of doing it with a camcorder and live capturing it straight into Sony Vegas.
But getting a new phone sounds much better than getting a new camcorder or camera.
Also, one other reason for me thinking of using the 1020 is because the previous cameras we've used to record shows haven't been great at recording in a theatre and seem to get a bit drowned in light, since the theatre itself is dark (especially at the back where the camera will be) and the stage is flooded with bright stage lights, it often makes the dances and dancers look bad.
Do you think the Lumia 1020 would be alright with this situation?
    So, two questions there!
    Thanks,
    Joe!

I would be sure that you have nothing on your device memory to ensure that you have enough memory. it is going to record in 1080p unless you choose otherwise. so the file is going to be big.
I do not believe there is a way to record using your 1020 and have it live save to a memory outside of the device memory. at least, I have not heard of or seen anything to say this is possible.
coloring, imo, should be pretty good. so long as there isn't any lights aimed directly at the camera. I have been very happy with its videos that it creates.

  • Nano SIM adaptor got stuck inside my Lumia 1020

I forced to remove the nano SIM adaptor and after I tried a regular micro SIM and my Lumia 1020 gave me an error message saying SIM was not detected. I read many horrors stories like mine :-( I'm wondering if that happened to someone here on the forum and my question is: how much it costed to fix it and how long did it take? Thanks

    Hi arturmeireles
I had similar problems. I bought a Lumia 1520 to try out the size of the screen and overall size of the beast. Must say that I love it although it is a little too big for my liking (a 5.5" would be just right). Anyway as we know the 1020 hosts a MicroSIM card and a 1520 uses a NanoSIM.
In Australia it is illegal to hold two SIMs for the same number so I purchased a $15 SIM adapter pack so I can use the NanoSIM on my 1020. BIG MISTAKE.
To make sure I wouldn't loose my adapter I placed it into the 1020. Wheh it came time for me to swap phones I had a little trouble getting the SIM tray out. I made sure the NanoSIM was installed correctly to the adapter and inserted it into my 1020. I got the Error, SIM is not loaded or not being detected. I tried to take out the SIMtray but it was stuck solid. I tried several suggestions from different forums, but no good. I even damaged the poly cover for the SIMtray.
The next day I sent my 1020 to the repair centre. Today I heard back saying the tray and the damage to the SIM slot is beyond repair and recommended not worth fixing as it was going to cost nearly $600 to repair. My new 1520 was only $530.
I highly recommend NOT using a NanoSIM and MicroSIM adapter for the Lumia 1020. There are a number of forums that have addressed this very issue. Some people have had some success in removing the SIM but most others haven't. Looks like I'll be waiting for the successor of the 1020 (better have a NanoSIM as standard).
If there are any Nokia/Microsoft Technicians that can recommend a safe way of using a NanoSIM in the 1020 I'd love to hear about it and then I'll consider buying another. Until then I hope this prevents others from getting caught.
May I recommend that all new Lumia's stick with one size SIM - if it is Nano so be it, or Micro fine. Or if the 1020 is intended on being a phone to stay in the market for a longer time please update the SIM housing so that these SIMs do not get stuck or replace the MicroSIM tray to be a native NanoSIM housing.
    Cheers
    tropolite

  • 5.3 and Lumia 1020

I just updated to 5.3 which was reported to support the Lumia 1020.  I have some Lumia 1020 images in my library that were taken prior to the update.  But when I go to Lens Correction on those images there is no option for Lumia.  What am I doing wrong?

It isn't contradictory because those are two different lists. If you look at the Lightroom 5.3 release notes, there's a list for "New Camera Support in Lightroom 5.3" and a completely different list for "New Lens Profile Support in Lightroom 5.3." The Lumia 1020 is on the camera list, but it isn't on the lens profile list. Without a lens profile, that camera won't show up in the list for lens corrections.
As far as the JPG format of the files, that's a separate issue. As I understand it a camera needs separate lens correction profiles made for its raw and JPG files, and for some cameras only a raw lens correction profile is available. If the Lumia 1020 did have a lens correction profile for its DNG files, that wouldn't necessarily mean it would have one for its JPG files. As it stands, it currently has neither.

  • Lumia 1020 - Poor Performance

This issue is fairly intermittent. I've had the phone since the week it was released in the UK and it's always had pretty decent performance in day to day use (Same with all the Windows Phone devices i've owned over the years).
However, recently my Lumia 1020 has a number of performance issues.
I am currently running the developer preview, but i've done this for a long time and not had issues like this. I'm just wondering if people have experienced any of the below (There are other times it will just generally become unresponsive to input, these are just a selection fo them).
I'm going to wipe the phone today, but thought i'd check in case others are having the same problems. I don't think it's a hardware fault, but it does seem like some sort of background task is taking up resources. I've tried removing any apps I don't NEED to use on a daily basis but it still has the problem.
I know i'm running developer preview...So I'm not moaning about the performance of my phone here (Although some builds through the dev preview ARE final code as far as I know), I just want to see if anybody has experienced the same problems and hopefully fix them.
Scrolling through the start screen tiles are slow to show their contents. Sometimes the icons take 10 seconds to load. And when I move from the top of the start screen to the bottom fairly quickly, I will sometimes just end up with a black void (The Arrow at the bottom to move to the Apps list is visible.
Getting into my camera roll from the Nokia Camera OR Nokia Camera Beta apps can sometimes be excruciatingly slow. I'm not talking a little annoying, but put down your phone and go get a coffee whilst it loads. It generally makes WP look bad if i'm trying to show somebody a picture I just took.
Sometimes i'll tap a letter in the All Apps list, and the phone will just lock up for 10-20 seconds before showing the list of letters.
Returning to the start screen sometimes shows "Loading..." or "Resuming..." for a long time (IMO it shouldn't do this at all, and never has in the past)
Loading the camera app, or apps in general can take a painfully long time. Sometimes with apps like Skype when the phone eventually becomes responsive again the app crashes.

I've tried that but it doesn't seem to help. I'm pretty sure when scrolling through the start screen (Except maybe right after the phone has started up) the live tiles should be instantly visible.
I just got the Cyan update this morning, which I think puts me on the current latest stable release, as far as I know. I'm going to try doing a full reset on the phone (Should still keep me on the dev preview build w/ Cyan I believe?)
Since getting the Cyan update, it hasn't made a difference.
I am going to try a full reset of the phone, and if it's still performing this way i'll use the recovery tool from Nokia to roll back to the latest "retail" build. I'll lose Cortana until the UK 1020's get Win 8.1 Update 1 but it could fix my problems perhaps.

  • Sports Tracker on Lumia 1020

    Hello
I´been using Sport Tracker in my Nokias (N95,N8) and i could tranfer all my tracks saved phone to phone... Now, with the Lumia 1020, I can only access the tracks uploaded to the web .. how I can access to the tracks I have stored locally? . And in an older versions the geotagged pics are showed in the tracks but now i don´t know how to do this..
Another thing, It´s seems that the app doesn´t work the background, It happens to someone else? Any help? thanks a lot

Sports Tracker is a joke on Lumia 820 and Lumia 925 also. Dropping connected GPS route and seems to be more or less useless on these devices. Nokia Corp is available as one of the 2 apps that is downloadable for the application sports tracker so....
Anyhow, I started to use Runtastic instead on my Lumia devices and it is rock solid and far more features..even some are for a fee.
If you dont use Symbian devices also just switch to Runtastic...Now.

  • How much Ram do we have in Lumia 1020?

I am a big Fan of Nokia and it's honest .I just found out something kind of wierd on my lumia 1020 with other ppl also wondering about same issue. We are meant to believe that our lumia 1020 comes with 2gb Ram that is accesible by the entire Os but how is it that when i use app like INSIDER to check system Info i only get 1gb as installed Ram and not 2Gb. Please am really hoping someone with the techincal knowhow can really explain to me how this 2gb Ram on the phone is implemented and why it's not available to the entire OS cause to me its seems like Nokia intentionally failed to mention that 1gb of the ram is hard wired to the camera module if what i have read on some forum is true which would techinally make this phone a 1gb ram phone and not 2gb as Nokia claims it is . So am really hoping someone with the techincal know how can help explain this better to me cause i really wanna believe nokia didnt intentional mislead me into believing i have a 2gb ram available to the entire phone. Reply would be highly Appreciated . thanks

I'll take the Nokia specs or official announcements over some 3rd party app. It's well possible the app just assumes there's not more than 2GB in any Windows Phone..

  • Lumia 1020 Freezes, Battery Heating Up, OS Crashes...

Hi there everyone, this is my first post here, I hope I can get some help from you guys regarding my problem with my lovely Lumia 1020.
10 days ago, I received my Lumia 1020 ( it was a gift from a friend from Norway), I live in Iraq. So warranty isn't provided here cause I went to Nokia Care in my country, they checked the IMEI and they told me that this phone wasn't imported by them, so no warranty is provided for it.
Once I powered up my phone, completed settings,  it checked for an update and asked me to download it. And sure I did download it at once!. Kept updating until it reached the latest Lumia Cyan Update. Checked and saw I have a WP 8.1 phone.
Took some photos, here and there, everything was going good. Plugged in the charger to charge my phone. Then an hour later I went to check the charge and I was surprised to see my lovely Lumia 1020 heating up like crazy!!! .. I'm talking about severe heating, not a normal one due to charging.
Plugged out the phone from the charger ( original Nokia charger provided with the original box ), and I tried to unlock it, but no way! it doesn't respond to anything at all, Glance screen was stuck at the time of an hour ago. Quickly opened my laptop and googled the issue and did a soft reset at once. Then put the mobile in front of the air conditioner until it cooled down. Time/Date was reset ( very annoying ) but everything was normal ever since until at some random time, the phone freezes. Sometimes it doesn't heat up, I wait for 5 minutes or so and the phone reboots by itself. But there are times that the phone is stuck for hours ( no heat though ) so I have to soft reset it manually. And there are times when the phone freezes and heats up like crazy and I soft reset it on purpose being afraid that something might happen to the phone.
Googled everywhere, tried everything: Replaced charger, Replaced SIM card, Tried Airplane mode, Factory Reset, Nokia Software Recovery, Disabling Background apps, Disabling/Enabling Location w/wo NFC, Deleting FB & Skype, Disabling Glance & Double Tap to wake, Downgrading to WP 8 ( both Amber & Cyan via Nokia Care Suit ), ... etc everything software related has been tried. And the phone still freezes randomly. Which leads me to say that it's definitely a hardware defect that is causing these issues as my friend has the exact phone, everything enabled, and not a single freeze.
I'm desperate here, if anyone of you could give me an advice, I would be thankful.
Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with it.
As you mentioned here, you've done everything that can be done to your phone software wise, and it still plays up.
And as you further mentioned, it's related to hardware failure.
As your device is not covered by warranty in Iraq, you will either have to pay for the repairs down there or send it back to your friend in Norway who can then send it in for warranty repair/replacement.
