Lumia 1020 restarts automatically

Hi, I have purchased the lumia 1020 a month ao and I find the following problems.
1) The phone restarts automatically about 15 times a day/
2) when running apps such as nokia cam or Here drive, the phone freezes. I have to wait for the battery to drain down and then boot the phone again. Until recently i found out how to do the soft reset.
3) while taking videos, the phone does not capture the audio. The same thing while recording audio, the phone doesn't seem to record voice.
4) When on a call, and I switch to speaker phone, I hear the person on the other line, but the other person dont seem to hear me.
5) I feel that the camera compared to my 808 pureview is pretty inferior. I gte a lot of yellow mixes and the photos are quiet blurred at 2X zoom. Even tried with a tripod. the pictures come out Blurry.
Nokia customer care in Canada sucks. All they tell me is they cant help me out.
Kindly guide me.

Hi, HitzJamb. Welcome to Microsoft Mobile Community. What's the current status of the phone? If it's still experiencing restarts or if it's no longer turning on after the battery has drained, you can try other troubleshooting steps found here: My phone does not work or respond as expected. The link is intended for the US. You can check your local support for future reference. If you managed to resolve it prior to my reply, would you mind sharing with the community the resolutions that you've done? This will help other users who are facing the same issue. We look forward to your reply.

Same problem. Lumia 1020. Automatically set to Feb 2014.

Hi, ckamfung. Welcome to Microsoft Mobile Community! When did you start encountering this? Does your phone's date+time reset after it reboots? Try disabling the apps running in the background. Go to Battery Saver > select an app > turn off the "allow app to run in the background" option. And then, monitor the phone's behavior. You may also consider checking if there's an update available for your phone: Settings > phone update > check for updates.
For the date+time issue, it will change to the default values if you reset the phone by pressing down the power button for around 10 seconds. More info can be found here: Why do the date and time get reset by themselves in my Lumia phone?. Note that the link is intended for the US, but you may visit this link to go to your local support page: http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/locations/. We'd love to hear your response.

  • Lumia 1020 Unable to update - error 80072ee7

Hi, I'm in the UK and have a Lumia 1020 on the 3 UK network which I'm currently unable to perform an update with. I understand Cyan / 8.1 is available.
    Current status:
    Software release: Lumia Black
    OS version: 8.0.10517.150
    Firmware revision number: 3051.40000.1345.1003
    Phone Update:
I have 'Automatically download updates if my data setting allow it' selected. My data settings allow data connection.
Update status: We are currently unable to check for updates. (80072ee7)
If I press 'check for updates' I get 'Checking for updates' for a very long time if i keep the screen active by tamping on blank area of screen (10+ minute). Eventually the I relise I've got better things to do and the screen times out. When I unlock the device I get the above 80072ee7 error again.
I've followed various advice on support sites including http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/basics/solutions-to-update-issues as follows:
    - Checked date and time
    - Disconected wifi, restarted phone and reconnected wifi
    - Tried a different wifi network
    - Disconnected Wifi and attempted network data connection update
    - Cleared space on phone (currently 12.8Gb free)
    - Ensured suffecient charge on device including 100% and plugged into mains
All result in the above error message.
    Any help appreciated.

Quick note to say I got the phone updated by using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool mentioned in this post: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Software-Updates/How-to-Update-to-8-1/m-p/2957689/highlight/true#M15...
It would be useful to know if there are any repercussions to forcing an update through like that?
The phone now happily checks for updates btw

  • Lumia 1020 Volume Control

    Hi,
I was wondering if there was anyway to reset the volume on my Lumia 1020, it is set at 13/30, Then turn up the volume it always reset itself to 13/30 after a few hours.
Please let me know if there is anyway to fix this default.
    Thanks

I've just realised that you mentioned that the volume reset's after a few hours and not necessarily after a restart. Maybe then that Microsoft have implemented a feature that the volume level will default to a safe level after a while and not just after the phone has restarted.
It used to be that this would only happen after a restart but recent European directives regarding safe levels of volumes for electronic devices that have music playing abilities could have dictated a more strict approach by automatically lowering a devices volume after a set period.

  • Lumia 1020 auto focus in video when used in apps.....

Hi. If I want to take a video clip up close using the Nokia Lumia 1020 on WhatsApp or Skype, the auto focus just will not fire. It stays zoomed out, and is only useful for taking clips really far away. This is incredibly frustrating given that I bought this phone for the camera.
Is this a bug in the phone? or is my phone broken?
Auto focus only works when using the actual camera app. Skype and WhatsApp seem to ignore the "auto focus" setting that I've turned on in the default camera app and the Nokia Camera app...
    Really disappointed.
    Jez

not sure as i haven't used those apps myslef, but for example, if you use Vine, there is a setting in there that allows you to lock the focus. it appears to me that auto-focus isn't automatically enabled / enabled at all in certain apps. you will need to contact the developers of the apps themselves for further feedback, as this is a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services.

  • Lumia 1020; app update error 80073cf6 after cyan ...

I updated my Lumia 1020 to the Nokia Cyan firmware today. Most of the app updates went fine but now some updates from the store are stuck with the error code 80073cf6.
I tried restarting the phone but that does not help. Any ideas?

The "error code 80073cf6" in Windows 8 on PC's suggest trouble in the store cache on the device, and there are procedures to reset and clear this on a PC - but this is only possible on Windows Phone by performing a factory reset.
I hesitate to advice a factory reset of the phone since it is a lot of work, and may not solve the problem! Also, since this is trouble between the Store and the phone, it may be solved in an update of the phone or the store later.
I would sit tight for a while (days or weeks ...) unless the apps are important here and now, and keep an eye on new updates to the phone, and retry the download once in a while, but it's your decision whether to try a factory reset.
Microsoft have information of devices failing to download apps from the store, and if your specific trouble affect enough people, changes are likely to be made (days or weeks ...)

  • Lumia 1020 - Disable Post Processing?

Preface:  I've only had the Lumia 1020 for 48 hours.
Problem:  I've noticed that when taking pictures with the Nokia Pro Camera application, the preview after capturing the image is awesome.  If I then go to look at the captured image, there is a short pause, and suddenly the picture goes soft, detail is lost, colors become horribly skewed.   It would seem that there is some massive post processing being done after the image is archived.
Request:  Is there any way to disable this post processing?  It's taking wonderful pictures and destroying them.
I'll see if I can take a screen capture to show what I'm talking about and I'll post again after work.
    Lumia 1020 Quirks.
    - Post processing done even on "raw" 34MP images.
    - The entire screen is powered when using Peek. Despite being OLED and Nokia specifically stating otherwise.
    - Can turn on (but not off) camera in the background on a call. App doesn't open but shutter does and spins up CPU.

So after looking at the 5MP version (attached) it seems that it is indeed post processing it after the fact and saving it that way.  Which begs the question.... Why?  Isn't the photo review going through the Nokia Pro Camera app anyway?  Why is it doing post processing (I've also had it remove red-eye automatically when reviewing photos)?
Stil, I want to know; how can I disable it?
*Edit:  Trying to attach the large format photo as well...
*Edit2:  After uploading both and flipping back and forth between the "review" image, the 5MP saved image, and the highres saved image, they are all the same, meaning that it is doing the post processing as it is saving the 5MP & 34MP image.  This means there is no way to truly undo it.  (It also means things like auto-redeye reduction are permanent, and can't be undone, tweaked, etc.)
    So.... thoughts?

  • Lumia 1020 shut down

My lumia I got back in December before Christmas it worked great till the new update 8.1 came in I downloaded it three weeks ago an it worked fine till the next day.
I usually watch a video or u tube on the phone when a go to bed so I did an woke up an checked the time phone was off.
I left it to c if it would start again later but it never. Every morning I wake up an have to press all buttons on the side to get it on again. It always resets the date and time to 22 may at 3am and am never sure that when a go to check for msgs or missed calls later in the day if its going to be on if its not al press all buttons on side to switch it on again I have no other issues with the phone Av not downloaded anything in over a month so its nothing to do with that it was a great phone till I updated the software to 8.1

Welcome to the Nokia forum, sarahleckie and Darren45.
sarahleckie After updating your phone's software, did you also update its system apps? Go to Store > ... > downloads to check or scan the QR codes listed here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082. Try press and holding the volume down key and the power key at the same time for about 10 seconds until the phone vibrates. Monitor your phone's behavior after doing this fix. Let us know if there's any changes. This will not delete any of your personal files, but the date and time will change to the default values. If the automatic date and time setting is not supported by your operator, you need to set the correct date and time manually. There are also fixes provided in the link provided by Darren45 that you can try. See: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Lumia-1020-freezes-at-Lockscreen-randomly/td-p/2056102.
Darren45 Thanks for sharing the links. Apart from soft reset, what other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? We'd appreciate you sharing all the fixes you've tried to possibly resolve the issue for us to check further information about this. We hope to hear from you soon.
    Have a good one!

  • Lumia 1020 touchscreen registering ghost input (an...

I was looking to get some guidance on whether the issues I'm experiencing with my Lumia 1020 are known hardware/software issues, or indications of defective hardware that I should get replaced under warranty. My Lumia 1020 is an AT&T phone in the US.
The main issue I'm having is, on occasion, the touch screen seems to behave erratically, registering input even when I am not touching the screen. I can't seem to figure out how to reproduce it reliably, but it seems to happen at least once every day. The phone seems to think something is touching parts of the screen, as it launches apps, types garbage on the keyboard, bounces the lock screen up and down, etc, all without me even touching the device. And of course, when I do touch the device, it either doesn't register, or 'fights' with the ghost input, and basically doesn't do what I want.
The only partial solution I've found is to try and turn the screen off and on a few times (just pressing the power button normally -- not doing a full reboot). Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't. But overall, this issue is extremely irritating and problematic. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Now, in addition to the touch screen issues, I continually find that hte battery indicator is not accurate, even after a full charge. It regularly reports significantly lower than what I think the actual charge is, and when I reboot the device, it seems to correct itself. For example, the phone is plugged in and charging over night, but when I unplug it in the morning, after a few minutes it shows it is down to less than 20%. I reboot the device, and sure enough, it's back up to 97%. Known software issue, or do I have a bad device?

Hello guys, I also would like to report a problem with my Lumia's 1020 touch screen. The problem occurred the very first day I started using it. Please see the attached images for reference.
    1) Usually, the first row of live tiles starts right under the time that is located at the right upper corner
    2) After the problem appeared, all the tiles are shifted down by approx. half size of the smallest tile. I can drag all the tiles back to its normal state, but when I press back button ("<-", located at the bottom) to get back to a default arrangement of tiles, I again get back to the situation where all tiles are shifted (please, see pictures).
    3) My phone software versions are on a separate print-screen.
    4) Software restart didn't help and I have these gut feelings that the issue is on a hardware side of the Lumia 1020, probably digitizer's firmware.
    5) I had similar issues with Lumia 920 which I had to return due to its touch screen problems.
I would be very glad if this issue could be resolved for me.

  • Lumia 1020 no add Internet APN menu

I have a  Lumia 1020 and the current carrier in the ABOUT section of the settings is Australia Model 909 windows 8.1  When setting up for ATT's Consumers Cellular, when I try to edit the Internet APN their is no add Internet APN menu selection under SIM settings. The selection reads : Network selection and the choice is ethier automatic or search for networks. I need some help, can this device be used in the USA.

Hi, WmBill. When you say "windows 8.1", does it run with the Lumia Cyan update? You may see it under the Settings > extras+info. Make sure that all system apps are updated by scanning the QR codes from this link: Nokia Windows Phone 8 App Updates. About your next concern, is your phone locked to your network operator? Are you located in Australia? Check if both countries have the same frequency bands, see: http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html. Also, it is best to coordinate with your network operator to inquire if they have partnered with the service provider in the US so that you may be able to use their services.
Keep us posted. BTW, we appreciate your visit here on our forum.

  • Lumia 1020 not detected via USB on Windows 7 PCs

Hello - I hope you can help.
My new Lumia 1020 is not detected on any of 3 Windows 7 PCs I have access to. When plugged in the phone will begin to charge but the PC does not detect the phone at all  - it doesn't appear under device manager in any guise (no portable devices or unrecognised devices).
    OS 8.0.10517.150
    Windows 7 64 and 32 bit
I have follwed advice on similar threads and been through the nokiatechsupport.co.uk troubleshooter on the issue which took me through the following:
Install Windows Phone app for Desktop
I just get the 'connect your phone' screen despite restarts of both phone and PC. Also tried switching the phone off and then plugging in = same result.
    Factory Rest
Same result - phone is not detected, nothing appears in device manager.
I've also tried installing the Nokia software recovery tool but that doesn't see the phone either.
Have tried different USB ports on all PCs.
Any help much appreciated, otherwise next step is talking to my network support I guess?
    Thanks
    Iain
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Use the USB cable that came with the phone.  Have you always done this?
A device that is under lock screen may not be detected and drivers will not load.
The desktop phone sync program provides nothing that will help the phone be detected.
The phone has to be seen by the PC and identified. When this happens the drivers are downloaded from the internet for the phone. Having the drivers does no good if the phone is not identified by the PC.
If you have access to other Win7 or 8 PC's try connecting to them. If you take it to anybody that is the first thing they will do. This helps determine if it is the phone or the PC.
If you take somewhere use Nokia Care.
One thing I saw today, user having the same problem. On the phone, start an app that connects to the internet, like a news app. Then connect the phone to the PC.
There are phones that won't connect.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.

  • Restarting automatically

I have a lumia 520 its getting restarted automatically, even i took it to the Nokia care and flashed the os but still the problem is repeating. Mainly when using the app the problem occurs....
    any solutions for this issue

Does it make any difference if you switch the phone ON without the Memory card and the SIM ? A faulty SIM (worn out or a SIM which is improperly cut to Micro SIM from a regular one) or corrupted Memory card can cause this. Get another SIM, preferably a ready Micro SIM and see if the problem gets resolved.

  • Lumia 1020 with bluetooth HF BH310 low volume

Hello. I have a problem. I onw lumia 1020 and bh310 handsfree and with BH310 call volume is too low. I was using it with my previous phone and louness was perfectly fine, but with lumia I have set volume 10/10 but in a car I can`t hear anyrhing. Also volume without hf is too low for me. I was searching nokia support because I want to send a report, but this discussions forum is only thing i found. Does anyone know a solution, or where can I report this?

    Hi paserack,
Do you have a friend that owns the same device? Can you try to use your Nokia BH-310 to that device and see if you'll have the same results? This is for us to identify if the problem is with the phone or with your Bluetooth headset. You can also try to clear the paired devices of your headset by following these steps:
    1. To switch the headset off, press and hold for 5 seconds.
    2. Press and hold for 9 seconds. The headset beeps twice, and the red and green indicator lights alternate.
    3. When the headset switches on, pairing mode is switched on automatically.
After that, try to reboot your phone and then pair the two devices. See if it will make nay difference.
