Lumia 1020 SIM unlock code no longer accepted afte...

I am the original owner of an AT&T Lumia 1020. At some point AT&T sent me a SIM unlock code on my request, which allowed me to use a T-Mobile SIM without any problems. After a few months I sent this 1020 to a Nokia repair center for warranty service because of unstable reception. I received the repaired phone, and the reception seems to have been fixed.  But..
After receipt I found that the phone had been re-locked to AT&T. The IMEI shows up as being the same as before (makes sense), but the old unlock code no longer works. Contacting Nokia at the time they told me, sorry, talk to AT&T. Unfortunately AT&T sent me the exact same unlock code as they had given me before (also makes sense, it's the same phone), but it doesn't take.
My questions;
- am I making some kind of obvious newbie mistake?
- can a repair or component replacemetn change some info in the hardware that prevents unlock?
- will unlock services find the same non-working unlock code if I try to have them unlock it?
Thanks for any help!

I see. Thanks for sharing your experience, Joe1020. Have you coordinated this with your network provider to see if they can provide you another code? Let us know how it goes.

  • Obtaining the Sim unlock code for my N95 (Who has ...

    Hi
I have asked Orange for my N95 to be unlocked so that I can use my my work sim card which is on another network. The application was made on the 2/03/08 and payment was taken immediately the request was made. I was told that it would take a maximum of 10 days to supply me with the unlock number. It is the 22/03/08 and I have not received the number. I do not want to leave orange in any way I just want to be able to use the handset for work instead of using two handsets.
They have told me that they have applied to Nokia for the code. Who has the code Nokia or Orange? And how long should it take
    Any help would be appreciated

It is the network's responsibility to provide its users with SIM-unlock codes.
As for how long it takes, if you're still within the period when you have to pay them to unlock the phone then I don't know. If you've had it for long enough for the operation to be free then they should be able to give you the unlock code over the phone. I've had 5 phones unlocked that way and I've always been given the codes over the phone.

That's not how unlocking an iPhone works.
The carrier the phone is locked to submits a request to Apple, wh updates their database. When that is complete, you restore the phone with iTunes to process the unlock.

  • Lumia 1020 SIM card error after WP8.1 update

I updated my wife's Lumia 1020 to WP8.1. Ever since there has been random SIM card errors. The phone just drops the network while it's idle (not during the phone calls) and gives an error message "SIM card error".
Anybody who has experienced the similar thing after installing WP8.1 update???
If there's someone from Nokia/Microsoft support team reading this: what should be done in order to get rid of this aforementioned thing?

    Sensonic wrote:
Nope, it's not a hardware issue.
The cause, yes. However, that firmware update might have – a guess – broken the hardware forever. Again, it could just be coincidence. I am not able to rule that out from the distance. You have two options: Wait for a firmware patch (which might do a lot of magic and repairs hardware) – or go for Nokia Care Centre.
    Sensonic wrote:
Taking the phone to the Nokia Care Center and replacing the mother (main) board is not (IMO) a reasonable cure for this problem.
The first step of bug fixing, is getting aware of the bug. Nokia Support Discussions are designed in such a crazy way, that this step might not have taken by this thread. I am just an end-user like you, but there are very different statements whether this board is monitored by internal support.
By the way, the next step is to reproduce this bug – for this, Nokia requires a faulty unit, normally. Therefore, I recommend to go for the Nokia Care Centre option – because waiting – until your warranty might be gone – might not be a good alternative.
Or stated differently: Sit and wait might end in catastrophe in this case.

To double-check, we have Nokia Care Centre.

  • Lumia 1020 NFC Tab+Share function doesnt work afte...

I was able to use NFC tab+share function with lumia Cyan.
It means, I was able to send files to my NFC enabled PC by tabbing my phone to my PC.
But after Lumia Denim update I cannot use this function. Devices are not responding to each other.
I see that several users are experiencing the same problem in some other forums.
There is no hardware problem. This problem must be solved via phone update.
(Note: Certainly my both "NFC tab+share option and Bluetooth option is on in settings menu)
I think there is an activation problem in device hub manager.
In past device hub software (in settings menu) was a more detailed one including settings about nfc.
But after Lumia denim update, this options about nfc no longer exist in device hub software (in settings menu.)
This is a feedback from me about lumia denim update.
    Phone: Lumia 1020

Hi, Lathander. Have you tried updating the system settings of the phone? To do this, go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates. It is also worth checking the troubleshooting steps shown here: I cannot read or write NFC tags. The link will work regardless of your location. I'd love to hear your feedback.

  • Lumia 1520 unlock code

I have tried to get unlock code for my Lumia 1520 through at&t and unlocking company, but they could not find it. What should I do? Others' Lumia 1520's unlock code could be found easy. However, what happen to my phone?

    hi mate,
are you referring to unlocking it so that other network's SIM cards can be used on it? your network carrier should be able to provide you with this information. if they are not being helpful, then you can try your nearest Nokia Care location instead to see if they can assist.

  • Re-register / Enter Unlock Code Every Time PS Album is Launched

    Hi there,
I have a client with Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 bringing up the registration screen each time it's launched. The registration has been completed several times, and each time he did receive his unlock code. If you put the unlock code in, it is accepted no problem. However, next time Album is launched, it comes back up with the registration screen. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Andrea:
I had the same problem, registering again every time I opened the program, even though the unlock code had been accepted before.
I was going to uninstall it.
I went to "Add or Remove Programs", clicked "Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2"(the first of two entries), clicked "Change/Remove", and in the box that appeared was a choice to remove or repair. OK, what have I got to lose, so I chose repair. I then started the program, installed my unlock code one more time, and have been free of the problem since.
Hope this will work for you.

  • Sim unlock screen - how can I get to it?

I have an AT&T Palm Pre Plus and a sim unlock code for the phone. I want to unlock the phone but I do not have a T-Mobile (or any other sim) sim card on me. Is there a way to get to the sim unlock screen without a invalid sim card? I would imagine there would be but after several searches I cannot find anything.

    Hi,
You need to somehow get a 3G sim card for it to work.
    Hope this helps.

  • SIM PIN code 1020 WP8.1 re-enter

    Hello,
Ever since I've installed the latest update of WP8.1 (8.10.12397.895) Developers Preview on my Lumia 1020 the phone looses its connection with the GSM network (4G) and asks me to re-enter the SIM PIN code serveral times a day. I re-enter the code as soon as I discover this, but in the mean time the phone is not on the GSM network so I won't receive calls. As soon as the phone drops the network connection it briefly displays the Windows logo as if the phone was rebooted.
I hope this will be corrected in an next release, or beter in the final release that will come together with the Cyan update.
    L8r, Henk

I think my problem is solved. My attention was drawn to an article on the user forum of my provider. Someone with an Android phone was experiencing fairly similar problems.
When my provider started with 4G a year ago they used a specialised Access Point (AP) for 4G as their default AP was not suitable for 4G at that time. During one of the many updates since, the special AP disappeared from my 1020, but since my wife’s 920 did not have the update yet I recreated the 4G AP and copied the settings from her phone. Now it seems I’d better not done that. The guy with the Android phone found out that in the meantime my provider started supporting 4G in their default AP. And that the specialised 4G AP was nog longer supported and thus should not have been used anymore. The fact that the AP disappeared during an update should have warned me.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I selected the default AP and have not had any SIM PIN code issues since. Whereas with the old 4G AP I had to re-enter the code within 2 hours at max as soon as I came at work and my phone connected to my works Wi-Fi (under control of an MDM).

  • Lumia 1020 - Product Codes searching.

Hello all. I want to ask a simple question. When I try to check if cyan update is available in my region on
    "http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-europe/"
    I see in Europe->Greece this:
Lumia 1020 Country variant 3051.40000.1345.1003 Available Available Under testing
So i see that there is a product code that is connected for Europe->Greece-> Var country. So i want to ask if anyone know what this product code is? After search i came up with no results. Thanks in advance!

Assuming your phone has this variant loaded get Nokia Software Recovery Tool and plug in the phone. It should also be on a small  sticker on the SIM tray and on the box.

  • Nano SIM adaptor got stuck inside my Lumia 1020

I forced to remove the nano SIM adaptor and after I tried a regular micro SIM and my Lumia 1020 gave me an error message saying SIM was not detected. I read many horrors stories like mine :-( I'm wondering if that happened to someone here on the forum and my question is: how much it costed to fix it and how long did it take? Thanks

    Hi arturmeireles
I had similar problems. I bought a Lumia 1520 to try out the size of the screen and overall size of the beast. Must say that I love it although it is a little too big for my liking (a 5.5" would be just right). Anyway as we know the 1020 hosts a MicroSIM card and a 1520 uses a NanoSIM.
In Australia it is illegal to hold two SIMs for the same number so I purchased a $15 SIM adapter pack so I can use the NanoSIM on my 1020. BIG MISTAKE.
To make sure I wouldn't loose my adapter I placed it into the 1020. Wheh it came time for me to swap phones I had a little trouble getting the SIM tray out. I made sure the NanoSIM was installed correctly to the adapter and inserted it into my 1020. I got the Error, SIM is not loaded or not being detected. I tried to take out the SIMtray but it was stuck solid. I tried several suggestions from different forums, but no good. I even damaged the poly cover for the SIMtray.
The next day I sent my 1020 to the repair centre. Today I heard back saying the tray and the damage to the SIM slot is beyond repair and recommended not worth fixing as it was going to cost nearly $600 to repair. My new 1520 was only $530.
I highly recommend NOT using a NanoSIM and MicroSIM adapter for the Lumia 1020. There are a number of forums that have addressed this very issue. Some people have had some success in removing the SIM but most others haven't. Looks like I'll be waiting for the successor of the 1020 (better have a NanoSIM as standard).
If there are any Nokia/Microsoft Technicians that can recommend a safe way of using a NanoSIM in the 1020 I'd love to hear about it and then I'll consider buying another. Until then I hope this prevents others from getting caught.
May I recommend that all new Lumia's stick with one size SIM - if it is Nano so be it, or Micro fine. Or if the 1020 is intended on being a phone to stay in the market for a longer time please update the SIM housing so that these SIMs do not get stuck or replace the MicroSIM tray to be a native NanoSIM housing.
    Cheers
    tropolite
