Lumia 1020 - Tint too green (not as nice as 920)

I bought a Lumia 1020 and already have a 920. I bought the 1020 for the camera, but I've found the screen is not as precisely colored as the 920. I noticed in the Lumia display+touch offers the ability to adjust the temperature and the saturation, but not the tint. The tint on the AMOLED screen is definitely greener than on the 920 and ends up looking a little like one of the cheaper Samsung devices.
FEATURE REQUEST:
This could be easily fixed by adding a Tint slider to the display+touch app in settings.
Thoughts? This is bad enough for me to want to return the phone and just wait for the software to come out for my 920.

My main problem with the green tint in the photos shot with my Lumia 1020 is ***NOT*** the screen of the Lumia 1020. Even If I download the photos to my PC, the green in the Photos shot with my LUMIA 1020 is over-saturated on my PC Monitor.
Just one of the examples of my  problem with the green: just afer buying the Lumia 1020, I shot in November photos in the gold-colored autums forests..... and the gold leafs of the trees are nearly green on the photos.
Of course, I could try to set manually the White Balance or could use a Photo-Editing software like Photoshop Elements to work around that problem. But in 2013 or 2014, I expect that with the default settings of a relatively expensive device (e.g. the Lumia 1020) most photos will not need to be corrected with a Photo Editing Software (or with things like manual settings of the White Balance)  because of the same problem (i.e. the over-saturation of the green ).
I am a little bit disappointed about this problem. Because one of my two main reasons to buy the Lumia 1020 was its photo quality reputation.
Hoping that this green tint problem will get solved.

  • Lumia 1020 flash and LED not working

Both flash and LED stoped working on my Lumia 1020. I tried: soft reboot, hard reboot, different camera apps (and settings) and a app to use the phone as a flash light: no result.
It worked untill yesterday. Camera is working fine, but without LED and flash.
    Suggestions?

Having the same problem. Suddenly camera flash & led stopped working. Cannot afford hard reset due to much lost of data. Searched for solutions but could not found any. Also nobody seems to be interested to help out. Don't get any solution or answer by Nokia.

This happened to my lumia which is 1 day old. I returned it to the seller and I got another but I am afraid this will happen again.
The first unit I got was working fine then this happened and I was really **bleep** off for a premium phone having this flash problem.
Anyone who experienced this? how was this fixed?
Please responses are needed. I don't want this to happen to anyone again.

i have this phone since 5 months and i have the same problem with the led since some days. I'm very sure that my phone didn't get wet. i don't work for a month to buy a phone just to let it get wet and I'm very careful with my things. i also read about rain ? what about it ? if it rains and u get a call , maybe from your old mother, u won't get the call ? the phone doesn't get so wet by just that. AND now its summer. In greece it has to rain since april. But maybe "rain" means that outside is raining and i dump the phone on the table like it was a fish ? come on lets get serious. Does nokia support their customers or not ? i sent my phone to fix it and they told me to pay 220 euro. hahaha... nice. I'm gonna pay 220 euro for a phone that if i go sell it , i ll get 250 euro ? thank you nokia for the support. your phones' motherboard is great. your support on new phones is also great. ill remember that when ill go buy a new phone. thats all i have to say. if nokia support center ever feels sorry , post it on Facebook below the ads for the new nokia phone.

  • Lumia 1020 adds yellow tint to photos

I'm posting this because numerous other people have posted with the same major issue, and there seems to be no update on what is happening...

My 1020 will take a crisp, beautiful shot and then after viewing it for a few seconds, a yellow tint is added to the photo and some clarity seems to be lost.  It happens with any white balance setting and isn't fixable within Creative Studio.
I may be mistaken, but it seems like this problem just started.  (I have had my phone for about 5 days).  I will try to re-create some photos I took last week and see if, indeed, this odd processing problem just started.
I would really like to know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue, and if Nokia is aware of this and if they plan on providing a solution.
I attached 2 screenshots.  The first is the photo I want and the second is after it is processed.
For a few seconds I can see the photo that I want... I paid $200 to have that photo when I want it, what's going on?

Thanks Ceron - I suspected as much that it was the Amber update (ironically why else would it be so aptly called the "Amber" update? ) and that it would require a firmware level fix for the camera.  I would hope that if Nokia suspects its on MS side that they will be working very closely with them...and quickly.  I guess I am hoping that the update that ruined it was on the side of Nokia in the Amber update (since they did add their own features to it).  Either way I certainly hope they get their act together and issue the fix in GDR3 or whatever you want to call the next one.  I still dont understand how Apple can issue an over the air update in days time without all this carrier review BS and the rest of us have to wait weeks or months for something.  That needs to be addressed if they hope to compete.  Should we be hammering MS support sites as well?  Anyone know of links to dedicated WP support site and if anyone has posted this there?

  • Nokia Lumia 1020

Hi, I have just converted to Nokia Lumia from iPhone4s this year.
I did this all because of he Lumia 1020 and I am not turning back.
I love my 1020 and I have been searching the web and updating it as frequently as possible.
The Lumia 1020 is already One year old and there are rumours that Microsoft is begining to stop production. I guess that's the life of every electronics nowadays.
However, I hope the Microsoft and the Nokia Research team will continue to produce softwares for the Lumia series including the 1020. Since it is the only 41mp camera phone (apart from the 808).
Please don't let it die so early.
I was using many Nokia phones in the past. I switched to the iPhones after the N80. I am glad I am attracted back to using a Nokia again.
    a Nokia fan

While the 1020 will no longer be made/sold it runs an OS which is still very much supported and according to microsoft they will support an OS release for at least 18 months. We're currently (just) on release 8.1 and that would mean that support will be there for quite a while still. It may be that the 1020 won't be seeing an update to the next firmware level but that should not really matter much as even cyan has relatively little impact on the phona and most of the good stuff is in the OS itself.

  • Having problem with the Lumia 1020 camera

I got my Lumia 1020 today (from ATT). The camera worked fine when I took some pictures with auto settings. Then when I decided to change the settings the camera apeture closed completly as it was taking a photo...but didn't open again. And still doesn't open. I tried to do factory reset and nothing. Still having this problem. I tried to see if there is any update .. nope. I went to Settings --> Applicatoins and on the camera option there is a Reset Camera. I press there but nothing happen.
So now everytime I open the camera I see just a black screen with no options on the screen.

    Hi nrabishek,
    Welcome to the forum!
When did the camera issue start to happen on your Lumia phone? Is it for a 1020 as well, or for another Nokia Lumia phone? Did you try doing the same troubleshooting steps mentioned in the previous post? You may try doing the other fixes shown at this link: Nokia Lumia 1020 - My camera is not working correctly.

  • Lumia 1020 is not seen by Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi,
When I connect my new Nokai Lumia 1020 to USB, my PC (which is Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate) is not able to install the correct driver.
When I connec the mobile, Windows installs driver for a device named as "RM-875|Nokia 909". It then says "
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."
I have then updated the mobile's software to the recent version, but with no luck.
I searched Nokia site for a driver and found nothing.
How can I explore Lumia 1020 in Windows 7 64-bit? What can I do to troubleshoot this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

The app wouldn't open, tot it was d app with the problem...den turned on my flashlight app, but also greeted the d strange sound...also the light won't come on... I am really disappointed and getting forstrated by Nokia...
    what can I do?

    Hello, victovic2000.
Thank you for posting and welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions.
Sorry for the inconvenience it is causing you. By the way, how was the phone now? Is it still doing the same thing? Is it happening to the default camera only or same with the other camera app? Did something happen to your phone prior to the issue? Is your phone's software up-to-date?
You may check if there's an available software update for your phone by going to Settings > Phone updates. Note that a stable internet connection is needed. We encourage you to use Wi-Fi instead. You may also consider doing a 'full reset' by going to Settings > About > Reset your phone. Make sure to backup your files to avoid data loss. • Lumia 1020 reframe image not working with Lumia Bl...

The reframe function in the Nokia Camera app on my Lumia 1020 overwrites the original full-res image when saving after a reframe.
I have Lumia Black and Nokia Camera app v4.5.1.5
There was an earlier post that Dec versions of the Nokia Camera app would solve the problem or that turning off Skydrive auto-upload would solve the problem but those didn't work on my 1020.
Nokia Support always tell you to reset the phone but since that is not guaranteed to solve the problem, what are options can Nokia Support offer?

Just checked this and it works fine for me. I can reframe and save, close the app then browse the gallery, open the image from there and zoom out again to the full image and save.

  • Lumia 1020 not detected via USB on Windows 7 PCs

Hello - I hope you can help.
My new Lumia 1020 is not detected on any of 3 Windows 7 PCs I have access to. When plugged in the phone will begin to charge but the PC does not detect the phone at all  - it doesn't appear under device manager in any guise (no portable devices or unrecognised devices).
    OS 8.0.10517.150
    Windows 7 64 and 32 bit
I have follwed advice on similar threads and been through the nokiatechsupport.co.uk troubleshooter on the issue which took me through the following:
Install Windows Phone app for Desktop
I just get the 'connect your phone' screen despite restarts of both phone and PC. Also tried switching the phone off and then plugging in = same result.
    Factory Rest
Same result - phone is not detected, nothing appears in device manager.
I've also tried installing the Nokia software recovery tool but that doesn't see the phone either.
Have tried different USB ports on all PCs.
Any help much appreciated, otherwise next step is talking to my network support I guess?
    Thanks
    Iain
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Use the USB cable that came with the phone.  Have you always done this?
A device that is under lock screen may not be detected and drivers will not load.
The desktop phone sync program provides nothing that will help the phone be detected.
The phone has to be seen by the PC and identified. When this happens the drivers are downloaded from the internet for the phone. Having the drivers does no good if the phone is not identified by the PC.
If you have access to other Win7 or 8 PC's try connecting to them. If you take it to anybody that is the first thing they will do. This helps determine if it is the phone or the PC.
If you take somewhere use Nokia Care.
One thing I saw today, user having the same problem. On the phone, start an app that connects to the internet, like a news app. Then connect the phone to the PC.
There are phones that won't connect.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.

  • Lumia 1020 not getting Black update

I recently bougth a brand new lumia 1020 with firmware version 3049.0000.1330.1002 so when will I recieve this update

It is there as Lumia 1020 Telcel in the last line for Mexico and just above Nicaragua. Nokia Black should be available for your handset according to the list, so keep trying. It might be a few days before it is available for the specific handset that you own.

  • Can NOT get the latest Lumia Cyan for Lumia 1020

I'm in New Zealand and the latest software release for Nokia Lumia 1020 is Lumia Cyan (3051.50009.1424.00xx)
When I goto about your mumia
this shows software: Lumia Black Release
and the firmware revision number is 3051.40000.1345.1004.
But when I check for updates,  the update status is your phone is update to date.
is there anyone has updated his/her lumia 1020 to Lumia Cyan?
    thank you.

it can take a couple of weeks for an update to roll out to all the handsets of a particular carrier, or country variant, and this is might have what happened here. i would say, if u haven't got anything within two weeks, contact your nearest Nokia Care centre.

  • Disappointing Lumia 1020 OIS night photos

Has anyone else had disappointing results with the Lumia 1020 OIS?  I have an 808 and whilst it does not have OIS, the sensor on it is massive so loads of light floods in even when the viewfinder looks pitch black, and holding it still enough produces wome nice results.  Trying similar tricks with the 1020 just results in reklatively blurry and dark photos.  The OIS apears to be doing something...it rattles when the cam is not on and spins/hums when it is.  I've also tested in with video and it appears to be smoother and hence doing what OIS should do (when compared to a Blackerry Q10 it was less shaky, which is what I would expect).  But night photos just don't seem to be up to snuff.
Am I expecting too much then?  Seems to me that low light with my 1020 just produces high noise, blurry photos, is there some way I can perform a diagnostic or compare it to soemone elses photos?

actually, seems i can attach directly. These were taken in low light, you can see that even the not-so-blurry photos are not exactly blur free

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 with three hot pixels on the CCD....

Okay, i have a two weeks old brand new Lumia 1020 and noticed that whenever i took a photo or record a video, i get an L-shape of three hot/bright pixels somewhere in the middle of the photos or videos themselves, which could mean these hot pixels are burned on the camera's CCD directly. I can also see them live on the Lumia's screen, though if i zoom in on the live view passed a certain level towards the maximum zoom, they vanish. But, on most zoom levels and of course when no zoom is used, i can see them clearly, unfortunately...
The attached image shows these three L-positioned bright pixels...
Also, check the video below for better understanding; i'm just shooting the black plastic frames in-between my two monitors, to get a dark area for easily spotting the three bright pixels. When i zoom in and out, you can see that passed a certain zoom point, they dissapear and reappear. Also, when i move the camera around, they follow along the movement. The video is a cropped-down version of the 1:1 1920x1080 original version, just to get a smaller file size: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g9zfcy3vivb1nku/HotPixels.mov
    So, i'm wondering...
Is this serious hardware mulfanction problem valid for a phone replacement, or this is something that warranty may not cover ?!
    Thanks...
    Greg

It's hardly deep hacking. The repair facility opens the phone, takes out the camera module and puts a new one in.
Your warranty does not entitle you to a full replacement unless the phone is not repairable (in genral) and this should be a painless and easy fix.
While in some countries you would be entitled to a new phone if a fault is detected shortly after buying the device you said you bought it a week ago which would generally be too much time gone by for that so I anm pretty sure it's a repair.
