  • Can u transfer files via airdrop from a iphone 5 to a mac and vice a versa

    hi,
can u transfer files via air drop from an iphone 5 to a mac air, and mac air to a iphone 5.

I would like a constructive response, rather than an ascerbic one.
We have owned Iphones for a couple of years, and used photostream to copy photos to a PC...
Within the family, we have 2 ipod touch, 2 x iphone, 2 x ipad minis and 2x Ipad Air.
I have recently purchased a Mac desktop and would like to use this as a central backup and storage for all devices.
I have been made aware that photostream / Icloud will only do its thing and back up to the Mac whenever the designated account is open on the Mac. (so I must remember to ensure the account for each family member is opened at lease once a month)
SO, on one of the iphones, for example, we have over 900 photos in the photostream album. When connected to the Mac, only the last 30 days of photos are copied across (about 60 photos).
How can I transfer across the other 850 photos ?
I cannot copy them across to the camera roll on the iphone
I cannot access them from iphoto
the camera does not show itself as an " external drive" in Finder (Please note I am more acustomerd to using a PC).
Itunes only allows "sync" and "backup" of the phone but is not at all helpful. (No indication of what is is/has backed up or synced)
My Icloud is currently holding 12gb of my data, but the only info I KNOW is in the Icloud is my next dentist appointment.
I really wish to transfer these photos across, as I would also like to upgrade the ios software, but this needs a few gb of memory space, and, of course, the
These photos are visible within the iphone, but how do i get them transferred???
like I said at the beginning, constructive answers please.

  • Getting a G4 and MacBook Pro to transfer files via ethernet

Thank you for the help on setting up file sharing. File sharing looks to be working on both computers (now) but it prompts a new question: I now have a problem with the ethernet connection. I unlugged my cable modem ethernet cable and connected it to the ethernet port on the back of the G4 and to the MacBook Pro ethernet slot (as recommended in Mac Help). I opened File Sharing in both computers. I've followed the steps in Mac Help to get the MacBook Pro to recognize the G4 so I can start transfering files to the MBP. No success getting them to "see" each other.
It appears that the MacBook Pro wants me to do it over the Internet but Mac Help is telling me I can do it directly from computer to computer since I've got them connected via the ethernet cable. (Step 3. is "connect to server" and, once connected, there is a "browse" option). My hope is to use the G4 as the "server" but I can't determine how to make the MBP connect to the G4 so I can transfer files. (each computer has a different name.)
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thank you.
    PowerMac G4 Mac OS 9.2.x MacBook Pro 17" laptop 2.16 GHz, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Thanks for the suggestion. In following your recommendation I get a window on my MBP that says, "Connection failed. The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP address."
In trying to "connect," I've inserted the ethernet cable into the port on the MBP and the G4. So, I'm not connected to the cable modem. Since there is only one ethernet port on each computer, that seemed sensible. Maybe not.
On the MBP I also tried, in the Sharing folder under "Internet," there is an option to share my built-in MBP ethernet connection with the built-in G4 ethernet. When I tried that a message popped up saying, "if you turn on this port, your ISP might terminate your service to prevent you from disrupting its network. In some cases (if you use a cable modem - which I do - you might unintentionaly affect the network settings of your ISP and violate the terms of your service agreement."
On the G4 I've enabled file sharing and enabled file sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP.
I don't know if this is relevant, but my TCP/IP on the G4 is configured to connect via Ethernet and configure using DHCP server.
    Thank you.
The most consistent way I have found, is to use the
IP address. The Browse function should work, but
    sometimes it does not.
If you want to connect from the MBP to the G4 (G4's
volume shows up on MBP desktop), you need to know the
IP address of the G4. Go to the TCP/IP control panel
(on the G4). You should see the G4's IP address
    there. Note it down.
On the MBP, go to Menu -> Go -> Connect to Server...
as you have already done. Instead of hitting the
Browse, just type in that IP address where it says
Server Address. Now hit the Connect button.
You should be prompted for user name and password for
    the G4.

  • 6300's problem of transfer file via bluetooth

    Hi..i just got a brand new 6300
but i've got a problem with transfering file via bluetooth from my laptop to my phone
sumhow i can transfer file from my phone to my laptop, and i also can transfer image file from my laptop to my phone...
but a problem occured when i try to send MP3s file from my laptop to my phone...
i've already succeed to pair my laptop and my phone...but still i can't transfer thoose files...
    can anyone help me??
    please...
    thx a bunch

Make sure that you have enough phone memory available, even if you are transferring to the memory card.
When sending files by bluetooth they are transfered (cached) to the phone then the phone transfers them to the memory card.
Also you should transfer files one at a time.
If you are transfering lots of MP3's you would be better off using a data cable as it will be a lot quicker.

  • Laptop G400S Windows 7 cannot transfer file via bluetooth to cellphone

    Dear all,
I just bought the above laptop but found difficuties to transfer the file via bluetooth either to LG or Samsung cellphone.
The laptop can easily paired with two gadgets but when I try to send something it will say:
"Windows was unable to transfer some file. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time or established connection failed because connected host failed to respond".
    Anybody can help please.
    Thanks,

I'm not sure if this will help you or not...
I did some additional testing today and "fixed" my problem.
I grabbed a new (almost fresh install of XP) laptop and installed a Jabra USB BT dongle with the MS BT Stack. Then I installed DM 5.0.1 and plugged the phone into a USB port to get it past the initial configuration.
Unplugged the BB from USB, went into Device Manager, enabled BT and searched for a new device. It forund the 8350i and finished pairing. Switch from USB to BT connection and DM5 could communicate with the phone (same as the original laptop).
Went into "Media" and selected "Receive using Bluetooth" while starting a file transfer from the PC. Transfer went through without a hitch. Tried it several more times without any problems.
Back to the old laptop, I switched off the wireless devices (WiFi and BT) and installed the Jabra adapter. Paired it with the phone and tested, transfers from the PC to the phone now work.
Unplug the Jabra and re-enabled the internal BT on the laptop, file transfers fail again.
Same computer, similar BT (both Broadcom), one works and one doesn't. I'm left wondering if there isn't some remnant of the original ThinkPad BT Stack buried somewhere (registry?) that is interfering with the internal adapter.
My next step will be to install a clean copy of XP on a new HD in the "problem" laptop and see if I can get it working. If I can then that pretty much proves there is something left over or corrupt in the current OS.
i'm going to uninstall drivers from the problematic VAIO...try installing the same drivers as i have on the Acer (working) and see if this resolves anything as I think it may have something to do with the WIDCOMM...
after inspection you should have 2 bluetooth radio device drivers and 2 RIM serial port drivers (4 & 5 i believe)...last time i tried doin it and installed 4 RIM drivers...

  • Transfer files via. WiFi?

Transferring files via. bluetooth is a relatively long process (both Blackberry smartphones and the Windows XP bluetooth interface require you to click "Receive a File" before then going to the opposing device and clicking send a file for security purposes) with a slow transfer speed.
Given both my computer and my smartphone are connected to the same secure WiFi network, is it possible to transfer files between the two? On my previous Nokia phone I could browse the Shared Files of my computer over the wireless network, and copy/paste to/from these files.
I'm surprised it's not a more common feature on WiFi enabled smartphones. I'm sitting at my desk with my two devices side by side and already practically linked and I can't do anything about it.
Currently I'm emailing files to myself, then they instantly pop up on the BlackBerry. But this is unnecessarily using the actual internet connection, as opposed to the the device-to-device style connection you can use between computers when linked to the same network.
Any ideas? Ideal world I click "My Computer" - click "BlackBerry" and I browse from the root of my device with unlimited access.

  • Can't transfer files via PC Suite: Windows Explore...

Has anyone else had this problem?
Nokia E61 (3.0633.09.04) via USB cable
    Windows XP SP2 + latest patches/updates
    PC Suite 3.82.22.0
I can connect and see the phone and install software via PC Suite, but I cannot transfer. It will start to transfer the file and then I get a Windows system error dialogue box asking if I want to send the error to Microsoft or not. :-(
This used to work on my phone. But then my computer crashed and I had to reinstall it. Now it's pretty much the same machine but PC Suite won't transfer files.

  • Lumia 1020 not detected via USB on Windows 7 PCs

Hello - I hope you can help.
My new Lumia 1020 is not detected on any of 3 Windows 7 PCs I have access to. When plugged in the phone will begin to charge but the PC does not detect the phone at all  - it doesn't appear under device manager in any guise (no portable devices or unrecognised devices).
    OS 8.0.10517.150
    Windows 7 64 and 32 bit
I have follwed advice on similar threads and been through the nokiatechsupport.co.uk troubleshooter on the issue which took me through the following:
Install Windows Phone app for Desktop
I just get the 'connect your phone' screen despite restarts of both phone and PC. Also tried switching the phone off and then plugging in = same result.
    Factory Rest
Same result - phone is not detected, nothing appears in device manager.
I've also tried installing the Nokia software recovery tool but that doesn't see the phone either.
Have tried different USB ports on all PCs.
Any help much appreciated, otherwise next step is talking to my network support I guess?
    Thanks
    Iain
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Use the USB cable that came with the phone.  Have you always done this?
A device that is under lock screen may not be detected and drivers will not load.
The desktop phone sync program provides nothing that will help the phone be detected.
The phone has to be seen by the PC and identified. When this happens the drivers are downloaded from the internet for the phone. Having the drivers does no good if the phone is not identified by the PC.
If you have access to other Win7 or 8 PC's try connecting to them. If you take it to anybody that is the first thing they will do. This helps determine if it is the phone or the PC.
If you take somewhere use Nokia Care.
One thing I saw today, user having the same problem. On the phone, start an app that connects to the internet, like a news app. Then connect the phone to the PC.
There are phones that won't connect.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.

  • Transfer files via firewire

I just bought a new iMac and want to manually transfer files over from my MacBook Pro and my older iMac and I can't seem to get the firewire connection to work between both computers.
Please send me to a place where I can find this info.
    Thanks!

Yup, the instructions are in there.
Just plug the wires in, and then reboot your host (old) Mac and you should see it go into firewire mode, it will be displayed on your monitor.  On your target (new) Mac you will see it mount on your desktop.
Transfer what you would like and when you're done eject the disc and power off the old one.
Just ignore the migration assistant stuff.

  • Trying to transfer file via Ethernet Cable - but failing. Why?

    Hi,
    Many thanks for your attention.
I am trying to transfer a small file from a MacBook Pro to a Mac.
    What step am I missing?
    1. Both Macs on. On both Macs, Airport is turned off.
    2. A Crossover Ethernet Cable plugged into both Macs.
    3. Under System Preferences/ File Sharing is turned On in both computers.
    4. Don't know if this is necessary - but under System Preferences/ Security - Allow all Incoming Connections is checked.
    5. On the computer that I want to receive the file:
Under Finder/ Go/ I select Connect To Server
    6. Then I click the Browse option.
    7. The 1st Computer's icon appears in a window.
    8. I click on the icon.
    9. For a few moments, it says - "Connecting - "
    10. But then after a few moments - Connection always Fails.
Followed these steps via other Posts, but they must have neglected to mention a step I am missing.

Second, seeing "connecting" and connection failed is normal. You must click on "Connect As" in the Finder window and then enter the username and password for the admin account on the other computer. That should fix things.
    Thanks for responding.
When does clicking on "Connect As" happen in the process above?
    After step six? Seven?
    After the connection has failed?
Is this the FInder window that shows the icon of the computer you want to copy the file from?
You should see "Connect As" in the Finder near the top right of the window as shown below:

With the latest software update on my HP SLATE21 s100 is no longer possible to transfer "from" and "to" via USB pendrive!
Now this is a big deal for me because limits what I can do to work with my HP SLATE21. HOW CAN I DO?
I also did a "factory reset" but I have not solved the problem. Help me please.

    Hey @jag84 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have concerns about using external storage on your Slate 21 s100.
The 4.4 version of Android (KitKat) manages external storage much differently than its predecessors. This was a change made by Google for added security a long time ago, but was never actually enforced. App developers chose not to update their apps to conform with this functionality which has caused a lot of grief for Android users when the update to KitKat.
basically an app no longer has permission to use any storage that the app itself is not installed on.
I would suggest reviewing these articles:
