Lumia 1020 .WP8.1 - No Cortana and Unable to copy ...

Hi All,
I bought a new Lumia 1020 yesterday and upgraded it to 8.1. I have below issues?
1) I couldnt find cortana in the apps list
2) Unable to copy/transfer messages from Andriod phone. Option it self is not availble.
Could you pleae assist me?

How did you update to WP8.1 ? Is it the Preview for Developers ?
Cortana is currently available in the US only ..but there is a work around to get in other regions as mentioned in Message 1 HERE.
For transferring the data use THIS application.

Satellite M30-107: I/O error and unable to copy data

I am trying to back up my data into blank dvds and i have "Draq n drop" software to do that as well as other sorts. Insert blank dvd-R and dvd+R and nothing happens. It doesn't seem to recognise them.
When i try to open it from the dvd icon this message appears sometimes " The request cannot be performed because of an I/O device error. I have a super multi drive which should read all sort of cd's and dvd's but something is wrong. I went to my computer and double clicked the icon and under the recording tab i clicked "enable cd recording on this drive" i then dragged folders into the dvd and it seemed to have worked, when i inserted the dvd afterwards it does not let me open it....
Could somebody help me with this please? i am not too good with computers and i've had this one for two years and it is the first time i am trying to back up my files and i cannot do it.

The drag & drop is not bad bud I would recommend using the "Nero burning rom" software to burn the DVD.
This software supports many burning options and allows you to burn the medium with best performance.
Additional you should know that the drive doesn't support all CD or DVD from all manufacturers.
In the user manual you will find a list of compatible and supported CD DVD manufacturers.
But please don't be confused about the unknown names like i.e Mitsubishi.
These are the manufacturers and not vendors like TDK. Don't mix manufacturer and vendor!

Prohibitory Sign and unable to copy items

I restarted my Mac tonight and was presented with the Prohibitory Sign. I was able to reboot using a backup drive I have and also able to see the contents of my Mac.
Before I do an Archive and Install, which unfortunately looks like the only option available I wanted to backup some stuff I've been working on since I last backed up (around 5 days ago)
The thing is when I try to copy items from my Mac to the Backup drive it tries to copy and then I get the error: The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
I seem to be able to copy items from the Backup drive to my Mac though.
Any ideas and help would be much appreciated. It's getting late now and my mind is starting to go so I think I'll leave it until the morning now in case I do something stupid!

I had to take my MBP to the Apple Repair Centre who diagnosed the fault as a blown HD. They replaced it and all works well now.

HELP PLEASE! lumia 1020 accent colour and tiles

My lumia 1020 has gona all black and white apart from Facebook and a couple other tiles. I cant have a background picture for my lock screen and my accent colours wont work. Could someone advise me as why this is and what i can do to fix it

Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions.
Have you checked if the High contrast under Ease of Access is turned on? Go to Settings > Ease of Access > High contrast > turn it Off. Let me know if it makes any difference.

My Nokia Lumia 1020 camera not working anymore

I bought this my Nokia Lumia 1020 with so much excitement, and it arrived on Saturday...got to it on Sunday night and dived in to the camera...amazing! I said... Just this evening wanted to take an interesting night composition, pressed the camera button...instead of it to come on, was greeted with a humming sound.... Of sort... The app wouldn't open, tot it was d app with the problem...den turned on my flashlight app, but also greeted the d strange sound...also the light won't come on... I am really disappointed and getting forstrated by Nokia...
what can I do?

Sorry for the inconvenience it is causing you. By the way, how was the phone now? Is it still doing the same thing? Is it happening to the default camera only or same with the other camera app? Did something happen to your phone prior to the issue? Is your phone's software up-to-date?
You may check if there's an available software update for your phone by going to Settings > Phone updates. Note that a stable internet connection is needed. We encourage you to use Wi-Fi instead. You may also consider doing a 'full reset' by going to Settings > About > Reset your phone. Make sure to backup your files to avoid data loss. Lumia 1020 Discharging faster then charging.

i have a Lumia 1020 ATT version, fully updated and I have found that if i use Waze or the HERE Drive+ while having bluetooth enabled for music to my car radio that the phone discharges faster then my car charger can charge it. the car charger im using is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B8M4IMK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which seems to be the most powerfull one i can find. any suggestions would be great, as i can do this with my Nexus 4 without a issue, but losing 12-20% of my battery on a 2 hour drive is driving me nuts. oh and i have made sure that the phone is actually charging

Anker products are generally very good and the charge current is more than enough so this should work fine. Have you contacted Anker support on this and are you usre you use the Android output as the Apple output will not provide full current to non Apple products.
I use their 13,000 mA battery with my 1020 when on my bike and with navigation, music streaming and cycling stats apps running I do not loose charge at all using the 2A output on that.

Lumia 1020 Unable to update - error 80072ee7

Hi, I'm in the UK and have a Lumia 1020 on the 3 UK network which I'm currently unable to perform an update with. I understand Cyan / 8.1 is available.
Current status:
Software release: Lumia Black
OS version: 8.0.10517.150
Firmware revision number: 3051.40000.1345.1003
Phone Update:
I have 'Automatically download updates if my data setting allow it' selected. My data settings allow data connection.
Update status: We are currently unable to check for updates. (80072ee7)
If I press 'check for updates' I get 'Checking for updates' for a very long time if i keep the screen active by tamping on blank area of screen (10+ minute). Eventually the I relise I've got better things to do and the screen times out. When I unlock the device I get the above 80072ee7 error again.
I've followed various advice on support sites including http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/basics/solutions-to-update-issues as follows:
- Checked date and time
- Disconected wifi, restarted phone and reconnected wifi
- Tried a different wifi network
- Disconnected Wifi and attempted network data connection update
- Cleared space on phone (currently 12.8Gb free)
- Ensured suffecient charge on device including 100% and plugged into mains
All result in the above error message.
Any help appreciated.

It would be useful to know if there are any repercussions to forcing an update through like that?
The phone now happily checks for updates btw

Lumia 1020 SIM card error after WP8.1 update

I updated my wife's Lumia 1020 to WP8.1. Ever since there has been random SIM card errors. The phone just drops the network while it's idle (not during the phone calls) and gives an error message "SIM card error".
Anybody who has experienced the similar thing after installing WP8.1 update???
If there's someone from Nokia/Microsoft support team reading this: what should be done in order to get rid of this aforementioned thing?

Nokia WH 930 and Lumia 1020

I just bought the Nokia Purity HD on ear headphones (WH 930) and the in line volume and playback controls don't work with my Lumia 1020. Was I wrong in assuming that they would be compatible?

i would assume that they would work too. i have WH-920 and all the controls work fine with my Lumia 1020. have you checked that you are up to date with the latest firmware for your device and that you are up to date with the latest nokia system app updates frmo the Store? also try performing a soft reset.

Spotify on Lumia 1020 (Denim) extremely slow and buggy

Hi, Does anyone have the same problem and got rid of it? I just got the Lumia 1020 with the Denim Update (previously Samsung Galaxy S4) and it is so slowly - it needs 20-30 seconds to open the app. Moreover, changing between Playlists needs more time or even does not work. Hi heissahussa, I have Lumia 735 with latest updates to Denim. I have been using Spotify for year now at Lumia. In the beginning it was OK. But for many months now it has been painstakingly slow. When opening, there always loading indicator going for ages. This issue may have everything to do with Denim update. I frustrated so much that I did uninstall the app.Then decided to give it ago, and installed it again. Did not help. Almost every time some operation goes stuck loading...loading.... Lumia's MixRadio works better, that's the only way for me to listen to something (and sync offline). If I don't want to wait forever, I mean. There is problem with bluetooth, too. When listening offline tracks over bluetooth with car stereo, sound is stuttering. With Samsung Android 4 it worked perfectly. Nokai lumia 1020 ext battery and case need

this would be a great option for the nokia lumia 1020 for us that want the good pictures but a bit more protection as an option to the nokia camera grip.....a design incorporated when blu had an issue with a battery life of there studio phones
nokia could easily adopt a concept like this with there resources , would be an awesome avenue for nokia to adapt to the concept of more protection for the lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020 and Snow Leopard

Dear People, i want to buy a new smartphone, Nokia Lumia 1020, because it has a great video camera for filming in low light, but I am afraid I will have problems importing the video files into iMovie. I use 10.6.8. . Does anybody have experience with this combination?

One thing that people have very often omitted to do after updating to Amber/GDR2 is to update all of the system apps that go with it.
To that end, Search for and install "Lumia System Updater". Once it's installed it will enable you to update all the system apps that go with Amber. Also, if it isn't yet installed then install "Access point" (visible from Lumia System Updater).

5.3 and Lumia 1020

I just updated to 5.3 which was reported to support the Lumia 1020. I have some Lumia 1020 images in my library that were taken prior to the update. But when I go to Lens Correction on those images there is no option for Lumia. What am I doing wrong?

It isn't contradictory because those are two different lists. If you look at the Lightroom 5.3 release notes, there's a list for "New Camera Support in Lightroom 5.3" and a completely different list for "New Lens Profile Support in Lightroom 5.3." The Lumia 1020 is on the camera list, but it isn't on the lens profile list. Without a lens profile, that camera won't show up in the list for lens corrections.
As far as the JPG format of the files, that's a separate issue. As I understand it a camera needs separate lens correction profiles made for its raw and JPG files, and for some cameras only a raw lens correction profile is available. If the Lumia 1020 did have a lens correction profile for its DNG files, that wouldn't necessarily mean it would have one for its JPG files. As it stands, it currently has neither.

Lumia 1020 flash and LED not working

Both flash and LED stoped working on my Lumia 1020. I tried: soft reboot, hard reboot, different camera apps (and settings) and a app to use the phone as a flash light: no result.
It worked untill yesterday. Camera is working fine, but without LED and flash.
Suggestions?

Having the same problem. Suddenly camera flash & led stopped working. Cannot afford hard reset due to much lost of data. Searched for solutions but could not found any. Also nobody seems to be interested to help out. Don't get any solution or answer by Nokia.
