You can download the software update to your phone using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. If you want to use your data connection, make sure that your Wi-Fi is turned off. Note though that charges may apply. This is why we usually recommend using Wi-Fi in updating your phone for free and more stable connection.

Can IPad be updated without WiFi or ITunes?

I do not understand. If one has a 3/4G cellular IPad as a "stand alone unit" how can it be updated with IOS updates? No WiFi. No computer with ITunes. It is crazy that this IPad cannot be updated. Is there a way? Bob

Its has nothing to do with Apple. Cell companies put a limit on downloads. IOS updates can be very large. The downoload limit for a single package through cellular is 100MB. Anything above that and you cannot download it.
Also its a good idea to use a stable Wifi connection rather than 3G which can disconnect without warning causing other issues.
And its not like its that difficult to come by a Wifi connection or borrow a computer to update.

Lumia 1520: update error code 80188306

This seems to be already known issue with earlier updates & with several Lumia models, but today I got this error when trying to update (Cyan -> Denim). Update is downloaded, but when preparing the installation, got this message after 8-11% of the preparing process.
Can't find anything that solves the problem. There is more than 11 gb free (55 gb in the card). Tried soft reset, no good.
Any ideas?

Installation update without wifi network

When download of update is almost done over wifi connection, what will happen if I have no wifi connection while installing the update? I wanna thank Nokia for providing amber and black update, also I will be grateful for the cyan and the next updates.

You have to have a WiFi connection to install phone updates.

You cannot upgrade to iOS 7 via a cell connection. The upgrade is far too large. If you can't use Wi-Fi, you'll need to upgrade via iTunes on your computer. See the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:

Lumia 1520 Battery Discharge Issue After Updating ...

After updating to Denim, my Nokia Lumia 1520 started to experience the following symptoms:
Phone charges to 100%, I disconnect and use an app like Instagram BETA, Internet Explorer, Lumia Camera, or any game--after no more than 5 minutes of use, the phone gives a "Critical Low Battery" alert and shuts down. If I try to restart phone immediately, it makes it to the AT&T splash screen or lockscreen and then same battery message appears and shuts down. If I wait 10-15 minutes after the shutdown to restart phone (without recharging) the phone will stay on, but battery level will report to be in the low 20s or 10s (whereas no more than 20 minutes ago, it was 100%).
When phone is at 100% battery: I take 2-5 photos or record mere seconds of video and I get the same "Critical Low Battery" alert. Upon restarting, some of the photos or video are nonexistent or corrupt files and battery level is reported at 2-5%.
However, if my phone is plugged in to charger, none of these "Critical Low Battery" alerts come up and I am able to use phone as usual. Considering that I cannot take a vacation and capture nature's beauty with an AC adapter always connected, this is a serious drawback.
Steps I've Taken:
Soft-reset
Full factory-reset
Moved all apps off microSD card (this improved situation maybe 5%)
Disabled almost all background app use in Battery Saver
Replaced microSD card when I thought this was a memory write/read issue
Installed "Battery" app to monitor battery use. After 750 data points were logged, my average battery life is reported at "16 minutes," which sounds about right.
My warranty should be expired since I purchased the phone December 2013, so I'm checking in here if anybody has had any luck with battery replacements or with a solution to this issue? At the same time, this issue arose strictly after updating to Denim and I've seen other users report this EXACT scenario. Is there any hope for Lumia 1520 users on this?

Data being used even on WiFi? Lumia 1520

I recalled this being an issue with users in the past with other devices until GDR3 fixed this. Somehow on my Lumia 1520 I used over 3GB of "Media Streaming" data according to Data Sense in the last 2 weeks. I don't see how this is possible as I'm connected to wifi 95% of the time. If I'm not connected to wifi I don't do more than send texts, a few instant messages or emails. I don't stream videos and I have both Xbox Music and auto upload of pics and videos turned off.
This concerns me greatly as I am now 680MB away from hitting my 6GB limit and I still have 9 days to go. Overage charges are BRUTAL on my carrier (Rogers). I assume that even when it shows wifi as connected it's actually not connected. I will now have to disconnect and reconnect to wifi to play it safe before I stream or view any online media with my 1520.
Anyone else seeing this issue or have any suggestions?

It is far more likely you did not notice you were on Cellular data at some point. And 680 MB in 9 days when (by your own words) you are on Wi-Fi 95% of the time should not be a problem. if your usage pattern is as you say it is (with sending SMS not even being on data anyway.
Well on average I use about 3-4GB a month previously with my Lumia 920. With my Lumia 1520 I have reached 6GB in 3 week with still just over a week to go. I've had to turn off my data completely to keep myself from overage charges. My concern is that I don't understand why data is being used while connected to wifi at home. If I have my device setup to connect to wifi automatically at home, and as you suggested, I have it set to stay connected to wifi after the screen times out.. then why is it still using data over wifi? And to make it worse the phone tricks me by showing me an active wifi connection in the status bar. So I'll be at home, comfortably surfing the next, streaming media while under the assumption that I'm connected to wifi since it shows I'm connected to wifi but in reality I'm using data. Why do I have to manually disable wifi and re-enable it just to feel assured I'm using wifi? I never had to do this on my Lumia 920.
So far in the last 4 days I've only witnessed my phone hold connection to wifi over a period of several hours twice without me manually needing to disconnect and reconnect again. But sadly, there was no obvious answer to why it worked those 2 random times that it did. Is the issue my router? Do I have a botched device that needs replacement? I've consulted others on WPCentral's forums and found several others reporting the same issue though it doesn't appear widespread. I just need to know if I need to up my data plan to 10GB to cover myself from constant overages.

Software issues with lumia 1520 since wp8.1 update

I have Lumia 1520 which I bought in may 2014. Last month I have updated to wp8.1. Initially it was doing fine but since last 10-15 days I have been facing a series of issues with my mobile. I suspect 8.1 update to be the reason as I never faced a glitch
in my 3months of heavy usage on wp8.
below are the problems I have faced so far,
1) screen blacked out suddenly. No response whatsoever. It was working, I can receive calls and notifications but display does not work. Phone was continuously heating mean while. I visited the nearest,care center even they were clueless. Only thing they
did was to hardreset my phone.
2) volume automatically becomes 0. I try to change it someone value but the bar goes back to 0. Its like the volume is playing with me.annoying it was.
3) the touch does not work sometimes. Its sporadic lock and unlock,it works fine.
4) few minor issues.
these issues really annoy me. These might be some minor bug fixes please take these up and resolve. I have gone through many forums and writing this. So
many users facing similar issues. Thanks.

You can't. iCloud backups can only be done over wifi.

HT1386 I updated my daughters iPod Touch and now the music states is it now stored on iCloud and can be accessed on WiFi or cellular. There is no music stored on the iPod and she listens to it outside of the home without WiFi. I will not let me sync.

Just redownload them from iCloud to the computer and the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Hi I have a Lumia 1520, operator Claro, country Uruguay. Still in Black update.

Sometime ago (before Denim update) was listed with Black of course.
Don't know why is not listed at least with Black label.
