  • When i take photos or videos on my ipod touch with the camera, then i plug it into the computer to sync, the computer shuts down and this blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of other stuff.

When i take a photo or a video using the camera on my ipod touch, the computer (windows xp) shuts down and a blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of oth stuff in white. It doesn't wipe the memory or anything off the ipod. Whenever i sync my ipod without photos or videos it works fine. It also doesn't mind me taking photos off itunes to put on the ipod. I have had a look around and a couple of people say reinstall itunes, but i don't know if i will lose all my songs and apps. Any suggestions of help?

Removing all Apple related software and reinstalling iTunes should bring all needed drivers back: Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Also check for new driver updates for Windows, especially if you have a webcam installed.
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.

  • IMac intel 10.6.8 will not shut down. Blue screen comes on and spinning wheel goes round.

My iMac intel will not shut down. The version is 10.6.8. To turn it off I have to use the the power off button. Is there any one who can help me to solve the problem.
The blue screen comes on and the spinning wheel goes round and round until I have to turn it off by the power button.

I am having the same problem on my Mini.  I found an earlier thread (now archived) that suggested that this spinning wheel on shutdown of SL has something to do with power management settings.  Another idea was that it is related to EyeTV (which I do have running on this Mac).
Any ideas from the community on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!  (I have done the typical steps of repairing permissions and (from the Install CD) running Disk Utility, which reported no problems.)

  • When I turn on my Macbook, only a blue screen appears with no Dock or info in the menu bar

When I went to turn on my Macbook OS X today, only a blue background showed up. For some reason the only program that opened was Bittorrent and besides that in the menu bar at the top there is nothing on the screen. The dock wont appear even if I hold my mouse down over where it should be. There is no time display in the menu bar. I can open single applications at a time by clicking on the apple icon in the left corner of the menu bar and selecting "recent items" but other than that nothing else works. When I go into "system preferences" and try to click different display options for the dock and menu bar such as the clock, it won't let me select it.
I tired booting up the computer in "safe mode" and everything was fine, but then when I went to do a regular start up the same problem occurred.
Has any one else seen this problem.

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read.

  • Starting computer only. Blue screen appears, how do I resolve this?

I recently had to upgrade my hard drive on my MacBook pro 13 inch 2010. I reinstalled my back up from time machine and performed an update.  Aft that it has not worked and only displays a blue screen and nothing else.  Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this?
    Thanks.

    chased,
I believe you should reinstall the full three step way:
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

  • Macbook Pro won't start up, only to blue screen...  no options work!

Yesterday I installed Skpe and later in the day noticed my calendar lost all it's info (no one has access to my laptop). I did a restart and still no info on my calendar.
I probably did something I should not, because of security issues I went in an locked several folders. A few in my library as well. I am afraid maybe this caused some of my issues. After I restarted I get the sound, the apple, but after that the blue screen and spinning wheel. It spins for 5 seconds then is blank and blue for another 5 and just keeps doing that as long as I let it.
I have tried safe boot, but after the long restart it does the same thing. I have also tried with the Leapord disc one, it will not boot from that, even with the "c" button held down after restart. I did a hardware check both with that disc (holding the "d" button down on restart), it checks the disc but finds nothing and of course I can not see the hard disc to turn anything off. I also tried starting with the "option" key, that was unsuccessful also. It showed the "Macintosh HD" icon, the proceeded to do it's progression of what I initally mentioned. Help, did I do myself in locking folders... or could this be from installing skype? It was the only install other that updating the software yesterday.

    Hi claudia:
fsck is a disk repair utility like Disk Utility. The name is short for FileSystemChecK. Since the
Disk Utility framework is not loaded in single user mode, fsck must be used to repair the disk
instead as it does not depend any core services or frameworks to be loaded into memory in order
to run. Unlike Disk Utility, it does not automatically repeat repairs until all possible repairs are done,
thus requiring a little more user interaction than Disk Utility, but other than that, it basically carries
out the same disk repair functions as DU, you may have manually repeat running it though until
it repairs all errors it can repair.
The reboot command is simply a way to gracefully exit single user mode whenever your done doing
everything else. Like the door, you do not use it until its time to go.

start up disc is full , comp turns on but only blue screen?

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.
If your computer did not come with Lion or later pre-installed then do the following:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Lumia 520 wifi reception

Hey guys,I have become a great hater of Lumia 520...i only wish I didn't buy it.its said I can only update my phone os through WiFi connection...but every time I connect the farthest it downloads is 13%..then either restarts the whole process again.not to mention that the 13% it goes takes an hour.ill say pole deserve options,if I can afford to update through mobile data I should be able to do so,and if Nokia did so much care they could also have made it possible to download via PC and use USB cable to update.i hate it when I buy stuff with my little cash then someone makes decision on how to do what I want to do.lastly..nokia back then in the good days was the fone everyone used.u ddnt need to mention the brand only the make like say...3310,1100,etc.what happened, that young green smaller companies are making user friendly phones that fly off the shelf?like say,huawei,bird,etc...ill tell you,Nokia chose to use windows os while other bright brands go android,I wish's there was a way to change to android.i am greatly dissapointed and I'm having a hard time not to smash it on the wall.can someone from Nokia reply to me or I go on rampage on my blogs discrediting this piece of wood.i may not achieve much but I'll make sure whoever sees this dsnt fall where I fell .********@live.com.

  • Blue screen only & doesn't recognise install CD

    Hi,
It's been a bit of a saga so far, so a quick recap:
Had problem with CD stuck in drive and operating system crash. Got CD out and operating system CD in (many thanks), but now it won't re-install. Get through all the process up until point of it trying to Finish Up - then says "there were errors installing the software". Have now tried twice. Really don't want to try a re-install wiping all existing data.
I could not launch some applications and got an error message along the lines of "cannot launch application because of shared file library mirror" or something like that. (Hope this is not a virus). Appleworks and Civ 3 would not launch, Filemaker Pro and Dreamweaver did. Restarted machine, took out battery etc - to no avail. Then machine just had circle turning and then finally nothing but flashing operating system icon. Got help online to get other CD out and put installer one in, but disk repair wasn't able to fix it and very kind online help suggested a directory problem. Made decision to just reformat whole thing rather than play around with retrieving data. Did this last night, but got message that installation unsuccessful - shut down and try again, which I did. However after second unsucessful re-install, got same message. So shut down and restarted and now have only a blue screen. I can still get into firmware and eject the installer CD - so I tried restarting without installer CD and then inserting as well as restarting with - to no avail. I can only now get blue screen. I live some distance from nearest Apple repairer but really need my laptop operational soon. Did I mention I'm working at the moment for a PC repairer - but still flying the Apple flag in the face of this (won't let him open it up to just take a look without knowing anything about it...). And although bought the VERY first Mac ever produced (no disk drive of any kind! and this does show I'm old) and only owned Macs since, and supporting them in workplaces, this is the first major problem I've ever had. But nevertheless, I'm pretty desparate - I'm not anything with hardware/firmware but I do nice (especially visually) things in Filemaker and am now moving to more web-based work and third party hosted data support. If it's stuffed, I have to rethink business plan. Left real job at University in Australia for mid-life working holiday in NZ and have just stayed, choosing to start up a business now from here, so not in strong position to replace. Pls excuse life story - basically laptop is not quite so disposable (and I have loved my Macs, especially the DuoDock if anyone remembers). Very grateful for any assistance.
    Steph

    Hi John,
Yes I did that both times. The first time I came back into the room and found the spinning circle thing and nothing else happening for some time. I shut down and restarted installation from scratch again with zero all existing data, and then got the error message of unsuccessful installation - shut down, restart. Then restarted to just blue screen.
    Thanks again,
    Steph
