Lumia 520 Lock Button

Today I updated the OS on my phone and now the lock button on my Lumia 520 isn't working. I'm on OS version 8.0.10328.78. I've performed soft and hard resets and my Display+Touch settings are up to date. Is there anything else I can do before mailing my phone to a Nokia Care Center?

Are you still experiencing the issue? Have you tried visiting a Nokia Care Point and have your phone checked by the technicians? This can help us prevent further damage on it & immediate action needed be taken. Lumia 520 unlock button

I bought my Lumia 520 not far from release date, and two months later i had a unlock button problem but i thought it was just software and i reset and it didn't change and because the Nokia care centre is far from me i had to use the cam button to unlock my phone, then it would work and stop. It once stopped working for a whole week so i switched it on using the charger when it was off due to battery. On the 21 September it stopped working completely, it has dropped in after i tried to press it while on the charger. What do i do from here? And why are so many people complaining about this phones unlock button?

MY lumia 720 has gone useless. The volume up button stopped working some 4 months before, and God's grace the new 8.1 update helped, even though the button doesnt work now. From 2 weeks the lock button has also stopped working and now its completely stuck. Now calls keep coming, but unable to answer anything or make it silent, as it is stuck and cant even do anything. I will never recommend any one a Nokia phone in future.
Please some one suggest me a way to restart my phone with out using lock key.
P.S: Nokia:: please restart manufacturing nokia 1100, as it is far better than a useless smart phone.

Lumia 620 lock button not working

Hi there, new to posting,
had my 620 about 6 months now (2nd hand) and recently the middle button on the side to lock has got less and less responsive. Even if i take the back cover off and expose the buttons themselves i still have to hold down the screen down quite hard and press to lock, the other buttons on the side still respond perfectly. Is this a problem that can be repaired in a shop or Nokia centre?

If you mean your camera button is not working try remove the case and see if there is anything wrong or obstructing the button and connectors,if not return the device to a nokia repair point for inspection.
If your warranty is out of date you need to get an estimate at a nokia care point where they can give you an estimate which you will pay yourself.

Nokia Lumia 520 - Alternative way of locking/unloc...

I've got Nokia Lumia 520 before a week and overall the phone seems really good for my needs, but I found yesterday that the only way to lock/unlock the screen is by using the Power button every time.
My question is: Is there an alternative way of doing this like for example double tapping the touchscreen or by some app that can perform such function?

The 52x hardware does not support the Glace screen functionality. I would guess that in sleep mode the used screen has no power thus would not sense the tap or be able to display the clock. It's a budget phone for a reason..
That said, pressing the power button is the only action to wake up the phone..

Nokia 520 power/lock button problem

Had my 520 for about 10 weeks and it has already been in Nokia Care due to screen problems and now I am having problems with the power/lock key button. Sometimes it will unlock first time or it will take several. This started happening a week ago and it getting worse and a reset did not help so I say it will have to get sent to Nokia Care again.
What I want to know has anyone here had this problem fixed and has it reoccured as I am getting very tired of the unreliability of this Nokia phone and although I liked windows 8 I need a phone that is going to work.

Is this for a Nokia Lumia 520 as well? Did something happen to your phone prior to this issue? How's your Lumia now? Did you already bring it back to the people who assisted you before? If yes, what was the result of their assessment? By the way, did you bring it to the store where you brought the phone, or to the nearby Nokia Care Point?
If you haven't gone back to the assistance, please tell us the phone's current status so we can further look for other possible solutions.

Nokia Lumia Lock Button stuck

Hi guys. I'm a proud owner of a Nokia Lumia 1020 and to be honest this phone rocks.
Few days ago I've accidently dropped it in water. It took me a couple of seconds ti put it out and immediately started to shake it to remove the water from the inside. The phone was working well continuously only the power/lock button was acting strange. It wasn't responsive at all. When I've tried to power it off it didn't let me. It stayed powered on. For precautions I've disassembled the screen and put it along the body of the phone in a sealed box of rise. My mistake was that I didn't disconnect the battery. It was turned on all the time.
It stayed some 20h like that. After that I've reassembled it again and for my luck it was working like a charm. Everything except the power/lock button. What I realized was that the button is stuck in active state. Physically is ok. When I press it it's working great but it is always active. I've noticed this when I tried to lock and power off the phone. It didn't let me. But when I hold Only the volume down button the phone makes the soft reset. The camera is also unavailable. When I start it with the dedicated button it starts, shows the loading... Status and goes back to start screen again. I think that this is caused by the power /lock button. I know that the camera is working because when I did hard reset on the phone during the startup setup it activated the camera and the next time I've started it rejected me again to the start screen. I have a solid phone repair knowledge cause I have been working in on local repair shop few years ago so I can do some basic repairs. So I'm asking, could it be the flat cable that is causing this? Maybe the button itself or the connector on the motherboard? Thanks.

Power / lock button on NOKIA LUMIA 720

After updating my Lumia 720 to 8.1 I have noticed that my phone takes some time to wake up. There
is a 5 second delay when I click the Power/ Lock button to when my home screen displays. I performed a reset on my phone and the problem still persists. I have also done a full reset clean one with Lumia Software Recovery Tool.
Even on cyan version without developer preview the problem still persist. I have removed memory card class 8 but still persist and move apps to sd card, in other word i have done all the possibilities. My hardware was fully check and
its a software bug. Please help me.

Lumia 520 wont boot and power button is broken

managed to break the power button on my lumia 520 3 days after my misses brought it, was using the camera key to switch on . but after pluging the phone into pc somting went amiss now i have the blue screen and cant hard reset as i have no power button to use in the process. any ideas how i can get it to boot back up.i was going to try and flash the phone but im not sure which softwere to use, if any one has a link i would be very greatfull , thanks guys.

My app caused the lock button to stop working

Hello everyone, i have developed a universal app for Windows and Windows Phone and after releasing it to the public it caused the lock button on the phone to stop functioning just like what happened with 'The Chive' app. Read here:

This happens right after you run the app or sometimes after a couple of times. When it happens you have to do a soft-rest to fix it and sometimes it might not get fixed and you will have to do a full hard reset. Also noticed that when this bug happens it
causes the Data Sense app to stop working making it crash after starting it and also its button in the settings menu doesn't show the second gray line. It is like that app is not being initialized.
I have tested this on my Lumia 925 and a couple of other Lumia 520s. The 925 is running the latest Windows Phone 8.1 Update DP and the lumia 520 are running official Windows Phone 8.1 (Not the update), Also all phones are on Cyan release of the firmware.
I am still testing this issue but i believe it is caused by the 'Ad mediator' control released by Microsoft because The Chive app is a universal app like mine and it is also displaying ads, however i dont know what control they are using.
Please help me with issue. Any information you might have could be very helpful. Also i am willing to share parts of the code to help solve this.

I have removed the ad mediator from my app and replaced it with the Microsoft Ad control and the Ad Duplex ad control but the same problem still happened. Also i installed the updated version on a clean Windows Phone Device (Windows Phone 8.1 Update with only
stock settings and programs) and the same bug happened. I feel that this is more of an OS bug.
It is a shame that no Microsoft Employee replied to this thread to maybe clarify what is going on and what we (the developers) can do if we face such issue.
BTW while searching the internet i found other cases for this bug, it happened with The Chive app and also an app called GOLOTTO that was pulled from the store because of this bug.
Please, any information no matter how little it is might actually help solving this weird bug.

When the app was in private beta, it never caused this issue, however when i made the app public something happened and started causing this issue on all the devices i have. Please note that the final BETA package was exactly the same as the published one
with no changes.
Now the trial you did (thank you for that) is the same i have done after removing the ad mediator control and replacing it with the MS ad control and AdDuplex control (with behind code to switch between them). When i tried that package before releasing it,
it caused the problem only after i switched off and on the phone (with the app still installed).
BTW, for some reason my app is hidden in the store from the people who never downloaded my app although i can still find it in my phone and i never clicked on the hide from store option in the dev portal.

Sorry for the delay, I've tried to upgrade the Windows phone device to the latest version, but still can't reproduce this issue.
If it's urgent, I would suggest you opening a ticket:
1.)    Visit the URL: http://aka.ms/storesupport with your developer account.
2.)    Towards the bottom of the page, there is a link that says “…contact us immediately.”
3.)    Click that link and then it will ask you to choose the support type. To reach the correct support team choose the following:
a. Problem Type: “Technical support for Windows Store and Windows Phone app development”
b. Category: “appropriate category"
c. Once you do that, there should be an option that lets you “Request a call”/ “Start Email”

Lumia 520 goes to lockscreen inadvertently

Sometimes i'll be tapping away on my lumia 520, and the screen goes dark.
Then I discover that it had gone to lock screen, even though i hadn't pressed the botton on the side.
What's happening here?

Only way to unlock the screen is to hit the button on the side, there may be an app which can do that but I haven't come across one. You sure the display going completely dark or screen brightness dim?. If it the latter then check the screen auto-brightness.

it would help if you expound a bit, and give a little more background of the problem. given limited info, i suppose you take pics by tapping onscreen? ..in that case, maybe you're just not pressing the button well enough. when you press the camera button (halfpress), it should focus... then press deeper, it will take the pic.
its a long shot, but do you have a silicon case on your fone? i used to have the same problem before.. it was a bit hard to operate and 'feel' the button's accuracy with that protective rubber case on.
on a totally different point of view... are you talking about waking your fone up with the camera button when it's locked?
again, its hard to get a specific answer if one does not actually see / test the unit, let alone a vague question.
