Lumia 520, message storage?

Hi there,
I am thinking of getting a Lumia 520 ,but a rather strange question I have is, around how many messages can the phone store at any one time? I do a lot of texting throughout the day, my current phone holds about 1000 messages, but I find that its just a pain having to sort through all those messages to delete them (yes I know, I could just delete them all ). I am looking for a...cheapish but yet decent and tough phone, that can withstand a few minor bangs etc.
I mostly use my current phone for texting,and photos which is about it but as Im upgrading, I would like to get a phone that has a decent camera (my current, has a 2MP I think it is), good for checking emails on, perhaps playing games, checking things up on google etc. Would this be a good phone for me does anyone think? or would another suit my needs better?

No definitive answer available but may run into problems ~ 4000 mark

I have this lumia 520 and yesterday after watching hoards of videos on youtube i discovered in storage check that media and files has reached 2.6 gb and i don't know how! as I have an 8 gb micro sd for storing media and internal memory has no media. now I m left with only 2 gb of free space in internal memory. what is happening? and yes! i do not download videos from youtube. here is a pic attached.

I noted from your screenshot that you are using the built-in storage check app but you can install the Lumia storage check app from Beta labs that also allows you to move map data from the internal storage to an SD card to free up a bit more space.

Lumia 520 messaging not connecting

When I started using my phone everything was good, until 2 weeks ago that it wouldn't connect to my msn everytime it happens I am obligated to go to Airplane Mode which leaves me with no calls or data plan option and it's frustrating, I got a data plan for a reason, and I hope there is a solution to it. And I don't even get toast notifications from nothing (WhatsApp, Facebook, Msn, Skype) I checked the battery saver option and it is turned off.
I'm just starting to regret buying this phone with so many flaws like this.

Nokia Lumia 520 missing SMS / MMS messages

Hi, just bought a nokia lumia 520, But i have just realised after an hour my SMS / MMS messages in my recieved conversations / threads area are automatically getting deleted or going missing, I am not deleting them they are going missing or getting delete automatically after around an hour? how can i stop this???

How to restore deleted messages in Lumia 520?

I have accidentally deleted all text messages of one of my important contacts. It seems the thread has been deleted completely. The option "backup" which backs up text messages to the cloud has been always turned off. Is there any other way I can restore those messages? They're really important to me. I have Nokia Lumia 520. Crashing with no messages (Lumia 520)

I'm testing my app (WinRT Running on WP8.1) and am experiencing an odd issue.
When running on my Lumia 520, after a few minutes the app closes with no warning (whether debugging or not).
No info is outputted to the Output window and I have all exceptions enabled in VS - none are caught.
I've also done some Memory profiling as I assumed it would be a memory issue. However when the app closes the memory usage is about half of the 185mb limit.
Any recommended next steps of debugging?

It seems like you've exceeded memory limit, please refer to this official document:

App type: Silverlight 8.1 and Windows Runtime 8.1
Lower-memory phones: 185 MB
1-GB phones: 390 MB
2-GB phones: 825 MB
The RAM parameter of Lumia 520 is 512 RAM, so the memory limitation is 185MB.

Can't play the video in my Lumia 520

I always love the work of nokia and this time trailer app is just Nice but there's a problem.
I have downloaded 6 trailers and only 1 is able to play.
Rest of them says "sorry we can't play this video on your phone".
I have no idea what's wrong with my phone.
Please help.

What is the error message displayed when you try playing the video? Have you tried using mobile data? If yes, does it show the same issue? What fixes have you tried so far? By the way, are you using the same phone model?

Mobile network problem in my lumia 520

Once network gone, I have to Restart it then again mobile network come.calling proble occurs many times even network is dispayed. Network problem sshould be rectify.

Do you experience the network issue regardless of your area? Aside from calling, are the other network services working fine like SMS messaging and mobile data connection? Is this for a Lumia 520 as well? If so, I hope you're using a standard microSIM and not a cut one as this is what the phone is designed to use.
BTW, the reset that the Nokia Care Center recommended is the one under Settings > about, is that right? After the reset, have you checked if the system apps are updated? Go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates.

Nokia lumia 520 push notification problem with wha...

I have a Lumia 520, and i find that i do not receive push notifications for my whatsapp messages. I have to open the application before the messages come through. I would like to know how to correct this. I have checked all my settings.

On a HTC-forum I saw the next solution, and it works also for Nokia Lumia! That means it is a Microsoft Issue!
1) Unpin Windows store from start
2) ERASE Internet Explorer History
3) ADD new language to the keyboard (Settings-->keyboard-->add keyboards
(CHOOSE A LANGUAGE THAT REQUIRE DOWNLOAD)
4) When downloading is finished, it will ask to restart and install
5) After installation and restart do the following;
A) UNINSTALL WHATSAPP
B) REINSTALL WHATSAPP (you can get conversation history back when asked, so no problem)
After this the push function works, but there is still a delay up to 10 minutes! So when you test, be patient.
NO BETTER PRESSURE MEDIUM THAN ANTI ADVERTISING SO AFTER THIS EXPEDITION PLEASE CHANGE YOUR STATUS TEXT TO:
USING WINDOWS; THAT MEANS DELAY UP TO 10 MINUTES
When all Window Phone users display that message, Microsoft has to come with a final solution!

Lumia 520 SMS disappeared!!!!

i bought nokia lumia 520 for about 1 month. the text messages disappear automatically！！！
right now, the only text message is the acknowledgement message from the mobile operator saying i've delivered the message. that's the only message that can exist in my phone for more than one day. other text messages i sent yesterday, the day before yesterday or even earlier all disappeared!!! i didn't delete them but they just disappeared into nowhere!!!
i already asked my carrier. the representative also uses the same carrier but with an android phone. he said his messages stayed as long as he wanted.
i checked all discussion board both in nokia and microsoft. so far nothing really talks about my situation....

Lumia 520 Many Questions

I just purchased this phone Lumia 520-already very confused.
How do you save to SIM card. My storage is being used up rapidly.
Mainly: How do you save apps and contacts to SIM and/or S/D card.
Facebook: loaded all my contacts and pictures on my phone. How do I unsync them or delete them?
I need major help, please if someone has this information let me know.
This is my first smartphone and I thought I had it down, I am finding out I do not. I am confused about Cloud and SKy Drive as well?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give to me. The Nokia tutorial doesnt cover these items.

1.You can't save contacts to SIM
2.You can only store Media Files and Maps data (using THIS application) on the SD Card
3.Go to the 'people' hub and tap (...) at the bottom -->settings-->filter my contact list ..and uncheck 'Facebook'

Lumia 520 Explorer crashing

The Internet Explorer in my Lumia 520 crashes sonetimes. When I'm browsing it happens that the explorer shuts down and closes all the tabs I had opened. I bought the phone last week and it's the first Windows Phone I've bought so I'm not used to those kind of phones and their possible features. It would be kind if you could help me out.

When did this issue actually start to happen in your phone? Do you only get the issue when browsing particular websites like YouTube? Does the phone show any error message before it automatically closes? Is your phone's SW already updated to Lumia Cyan like tehviluattorj's 920? Any additional details you'll provide will surely help the community find the resolution to your concern.

Lumia 520 eating phone credit/balance

Hey.
I recently bought Nokia Lumia 520. It's quite awesome phone. But there's one problem. My phone credit/balance keeps somehow decreasing a bit even though I haven't called or sent any messages. It eats about 10 cents in 6 hours. I have shut every other background application except Whatsapp.
I'd appreciate your help!

e-mail sync, reporting the location to Microsoft, updating live tiles, and definitely WhatsApp!, there are several built-in features of smartphones that eat small chunks of data.
Possible workarounds is to turn mobile data off or turn power save on with the "always" option selected, but the only real solution is to get a data plan from your provider to fully enjoy the phone without extra bills.

Nokia unlimited music into Lumia 520

I have quite large collection of music lead using nokia music unlimited service. After moving my music into Lumia 520 with windows phone application no of the music plays on the device. If I use nokia music player to move my music it will give error message problem with transfer but no reason what problem. Now how do I get my music transfered into the device so that I can actually listen it.

Hi again,
After 2 x hours on the phone to Orange/EE i managed to finally get thru to a Technician !!
He advised me to purchase/download the T-9 application from the Windows Market Place Apps website. So i paid (reluctantly) and installed it.
But when i tried it out (in Whats App and sending Emails within my Hotmail account) i just can not for the life of me work out how to open it ??
i can open it from scratch and send a Text Message (from scratch), but if i receive a Text Message and i chose to REPLY, the original tiny QWERTY Nokia default keyboard appears (and remains) as the only option of a means of Texting !!
Also, it is supposed to perform PREDICTIVE TEXT mode but again i can not fathom how to activate this.
The EE/Orange Tech Support 100% assured me that the T-9 would do exactly what i wanted it to and that it was perfect for my needs.
