Lumia 520 only shooting 2MP instead of 5MP resolut...

Anyone knows how come my Lumia 520 camera shoots 1632x1218 pixels or 1632x916 depending on the aspect ratio, instead of the 5 megapixels it's supposed to shoot? I've used the standard camera app, did a (soft) reset, tried to use the Nokia Camera app, but still 1,5 to 2mp. How can I get my "full" 5MP? :-)

How did you check that resolution? did you check images on the phone?

Try starting it without the SIM card. If it still does not work take it back to where you bought it from for a replacement.

I've occured a strange problem. I tried googling for similiar problems & solutions, but came out empty handed.
Perhaps I haven't tried using the correct keywords yet, so I appologize if this problem has occured before and there already is a topic on it.
PROBLEM:
When typing with Lumia 520 normally (holding the phone vertically) it works perfectly. Flawless.
When I go into landscape mode (for faster typing), some bugs occur. The keys on far left, and right work good. When I try to type:
'f'' or 'r' or 'x' it comes out as ',' (comma)
'd' or 'e' or 'z' it goes to emotes
It's very annoying, because typing in vertical mode is much slower.
Not sure if related, but sometimes when it asks my permisson for something (slides down from top), asking something with 2 boxes "Allow" and "Deny"... Then when I press on "Allow", nothing happens.. But if I press "Deny" then "Allow" lights up and goes by that command. Not a big problem, because I can push Deny to Allow and to Deny I just hit the Back button.
I have Cyan update. I've tried soft reset and replacing my languages, but no change.
Changing the touchscreen sesnitivity from strong to average also had no effect.

It's a good phone if you take care of it okay. Hasn't failed me yet.

So I figured out, that a small part of the touchscreen does not work properly or works poorly. (Like when I 'Accept' it registers 'Deny' instead.
My warrant is void. So what could be the logical technical difficulty, that I'm facing? Replacing the touchscreen? Checking some kind of contacts?
EDIT: Added a picture of the 'bad' areas. When pressing around the red area, then pink area works. Same with blue. All else works perfectly fine. I'm sad and confused - why only THAT AREA?

Lumia 520 battery draining extremely after officia...

I updated my Lumia 520 from black to cyan. Before battery was ok. But now battery is draining extremely fast. After one hour use almost 30% gone.I did hard reset but still situation is same. Please Nokia rectify this problem fast. I Googled and founded so many people have same problem after cyan update.

I have update my Lumia 920 to cyan around 2 months ago, and since then my battery was draining in less than a day mostly iddle. Before the update I could go 2 days and have still 20% left.
I have researched the problem, and found that a lot of people are facing the same issue. Shame on Microsoft/Nokia not to acknowledge the problem. I have tried every option suggested on the various discussion board without any success. The only thing I didn't tried was a hard reset for obvious reasons.
Last week I went on vacation, and used an international sim card, and suddenly my battery life was even better than before the update. I could go more than a day using my phone intensively (GPS, Pictures,...), and still have at least 30%-40% at the end of the day.
When I came back home, I return the original sim card, and change the following things in 'cellular + SIM':
1. I set data connection off by default, and will turn it on only when needed (most of the time at home or at work I will use wi-fi anyway).
2. In Network selection I select my provider instead of choosing automatic, and select 3G. I will change it to 4g when I turn the data connection on.
It has been 15 hours since the last charge, and my phone is still at 90%. It seems to work for me (it might not work for every body). In any case it's only a work around until Microsoft acknowledges and fixes the problem.

Settings function does not work in my lumia 520

I have lumia 520. when i update Lumia Black in my Setting some of the settings apps does not work. when i click this its return back the settings. i can't update it . how can i update or reinstall it.
Or How can i re-update window for work properly my system.

I had the same problem with a feature. It showed share instead of update and I knew there was an update out there.
I turned my phone all the way off, let it sit for a minute of so and turned it back on. The update then showed up with the updater.

Can't play the video in my Lumia 520

I always love the work of nokia and this time trailer app is just Nice but there's a problem.
I have downloaded 6 trailers and only 1 is able to play.
Rest of them says "sorry we can't play this video on your phone".
I have no idea what's wrong with my phone.
Please help.

What is the error message displayed when you try playing the video? Have you tried using mobile data? If yes, does it show the same issue? What fixes have you tried so far? By the way, are you using the same phone model?

No sim works for my nokia lumia 520

My brother gave me an Nokia lumia 520, and i have tried off all of the sim cards and some ask for a sim card code or something similar im not sure now.
on others it says that its in gpm or gps mode im not sure what to do i don't know what to do.
i can use the phone but not call or text anyone
and im in the uk i tried (o2, 3, orange, lebara and some more) help please i don't know what's the customer service line for my problem even. And any idea how much it would cost to unlock it.

Only the network provider where the phone is locked with can unlock the phone. We suggest contacting them regarding this and the cost of it.

Lumia 520,It get's hot

Hi Nokia,I own a Nokia Lumia 520 and now in summer I have problem with my device.When I'm charging It and play games at the same time or sometimes just play It get's really hot the upper spot from the camera.
I read that for safety reasons It will close the open apps or it will reboot.I'm worry about that because I'm afraid that it will burn and have to buy a new one.Also at Nokia's facebook page they said that it is normal to get hot but if it gets really hot they said that I had to check it if there is any problem or I can discusses it here.

As long as it cools down after you stop playing games or other power-intensive activities it should be OK. After all you are holding the equivalent of small computer which does not have the benefit of a cooling fan and can only dissipate heat through the handset case.

Lumia 520 and File explorer issues.

Hi I have just bought lumia 520 and I am trying to trasnfer files using file explorer on windows XP.
Thing is when I connect my phone via data cable, a folder appears named "lumia 520 #2". But when I open it, it doesn't show anything in it. No folders. And when I try to copy paste any file, the paste option doesn't appear. When I try to drag a file, it doesn't copy.
When i click on the folder and go into properties it only shows camera options.
I can't think what's the issue here.

Lumia 520 wifi reception

Hey guys,I have become a great hater of Lumia 520...i only wish I didn't buy it.its said I can only update my phone os through WiFi connection...but every time I connect the farthest it downloads is 13%..then either restarts the whole process again.not to mention that the 13% it goes takes an hour.ill say pole deserve options,if I can afford to update through mobile data I should be able to do so,and if Nokia did so much care they could also have made it possible to download via PC and use USB cable to update.i hate it when I buy stuff with my little cash then someone makes decision on how to do what I want to do.lastly..nokia back then in the good days was the fone everyone used.u ddnt need to mention the brand only the make like say...3310,1100,etc.what happened,that young green smaller companies are making user friendly phones that fly off the shelf?like say,huawei,bird,etc...ill tell you,Nokia chose to use windows os while other bright brands go android,I wish's there was a way to change to android.i am greatly dissapointed and I'm having a hard time not to smash it on the wall.can someone from Nokia reply to me or I go on rampage on my blogs discrediting this piece of wood.i may not achieve much but I'll make sure whoever sees this dsnt fall where I fell .********@live.com.

Lumia 520 weird reboots

Hey guys,
my Lumia 520 started acting weird. It randomly reboots but only while locked and idling. While I keep it busy (ppt presentations, surfing the net, music, playing games...) it doesn't reboot.
And when it reboots it sometimes wakes up in airplane mode, and that can't be turned off I need to reboot it to get it out of airplane mode.
I did a hard reset and recovered it via nokia recovery tools, same behaviour persists.
Anyone got an idea what I could do. I can't take it to a repair shop cause it won't be done in time (I'm off to an exchange semester in 10 days, will be on the other side of Europe by the time any shop could fix it around here).
I mostly use it as a testing device, deploying apps to test on 512 MB devices, but it's still annoying seeing it restart randomly once in a while.

Probability is low.. but still try putting a paper packing in the Battery compartment to eliminate 'lose contacts' issue.

Nokia lumia 520 screen zooms in too much

I purchased Lumia 520 about a week ago but after two three days the problem started. The lock screen zooms in so much that it is impossible to attend any incoming call also it is impossible to see the incoming number's digits because they are so much zoomed in that they just don't fit on to the screen. Everytime this problem occurs,I simply restart the phone and it gets fixed up but I can't do this everytime ad this is very inconvenient to. Please help me to get rid of this piece of junk.

There is a very simple solution to this problem and explains why my phone screen is always enlarging. Instead of restarting the phone, which I hated doing all the time, simply double tap the phone using 2 fingers in the middle of the screen. I guarantee this will work and will return your screen back to it's normal size. I hope this helps!

Lumia 520 messaging not connecting

When I started using my phone everything was good, until 2 weeks ago that it wouldn't connect to my msn everytime it happens I am obligated to go to Airplane Mode which leaves me with no calls or data plan option and it's frustrating, I got a data plan for a reason, and I hope there is a solution to it. And I don't even get toast notifications from nothing (WhatsApp, Facebook, Msn, Skype) I checked the battery saver option and it is turned off.
I'm just starting to regret buying this phone with so many flaws like this.

Lumia 520 SMS disappeared!!!!

i bought nokia lumia 520 for about 1 month. the text messages disappear automatically！！！
right now, the only text message is the acknowledgement message from the mobile operator saying i've delivered the message. that's the only message that can exist in my phone for more than one day. other text messages i sent yesterday, the day before yesterday or even earlier all disappeared!!! i didn't delete them but they just disappeared into nowhere!!!
i already asked my carrier. the representative also uses the same carrier but with an android phone. he said his messages stayed as long as he wanted.
i checked all discussion board both in nokia and microsoft. so far nothing really talks about my situation....
