Lumia 520 standard ringtones - demo?

Hi, I have a Lumia 520. From Settings>ringtones&sounds there is a long list of the standard Nokia and Windows ringtones available. But how can I hear a demo of them? I expected that selecting one would either play a demo or give me a demo option to select, but this doesn't happen. Am I overlooking something, or does this function not exist (why not?) - or is my phone faulty ?

Hi, I have tried taking the headphone out of the socket, taken out battery a number of times, and even the sim card but still nothing. I'm wary of resetting the phone because last December I had a software update and lost all my contacts/games. Got contacts back a month later (just appeared). Is there anything else I can do? Spoke to person in EE shop and they just said 'could send it away'!!

Lumia 520 email ringtone

Hi,
I have searched both this forum and the internet and i did not find a solution to my problem:
I cannot save a ringtone alert for New email.
I go to Setting>ringtones+sounds, select a ringtone for New email. Then I hit Back, but still no vibration or sound when receiving an email. If i go back to Setting>ringtones+sounds, none is selected to New email.
Any ideas?

Have you updated to Nokia Black firmware and have you updated all sytem apps as well ? You can check that easily with a free app like Lumia System updater from the store.

Mobile network problem in my lumia 520

Once network gone, I have to Restart it then again mobile network come.calling proble occurs many times even network is dispayed. Network problem sshould be rectify.

Do you experience the network issue regardless of your area? Aside from calling, are the other network services working fine like SMS messaging and mobile data connection? Is this for a Lumia 520 as well? If so, I hope you're using a standard microSIM and not a cut one as this is what the phone is designed to use.
BTW, the reset that the Nokia Care Center recommended is the one under Settings > about, is that right? After the reset, have you checked if the system apps are updated? Go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates.

Nokia Lumia 520 data cable removing

I bought Lumia 520 last week. Haven't installed windows 8 software with my windows 7 laptop yet. but i did connect using the data cable to transfer some music. After i was done transferring data i found no safely remove hardware option. So i had to just remove it. But is it ok to just remove the cable from the laptop. I havn't connected the phone to laptop ever since then. How can i get the safely remove hardware option? Also it was shown under portable devices as Windows Phone.

Yes, that is standard behaviour of Windows 7. Somewhere, you can switch to the old mode which is faster but more insecure, and therefore gives you this icon back. I do not know, where that option was. Do you really need that? Then I search for you.

Dolby audio settings for Lumia 520

As every nokia Lumia windows phone 8 device has a Dolby audio settings with a equalizer in the settings menu, there are presets and a
custom one. This is not available in Lumia 520. This is utter discrimination,just because it is a low end Lumia device. If Nokia didn't want to give us Dolby audio settings, then why show a audio menu like in other devices and when we open its blank. This is teasing us. They shouldn't have put the audio settings in the settings menu for Lumia 520. Firmware. This is very bad nokia. Either update the firmware by removing audio from the settings or just give Lumia 520 users a equalizer. All the devices have the same chipset 520,720,620. A qualcom msm8227 with 2 krait cores and same adreno 305 gpu. But 520 doesn't have the equalizer , the other devices do have it. I expect a. Prompt reply. Nokia.

I am so disappointed with the way this lumia 520 turned out to be. There is no speed dial function, when even typing the numbers you have to type it,fully without the phone giving suggestions. There is no means to go forwards when using internet explorer, and you cannot set personal ringtones unless you use a computer or an app that does that. It is so messed up and uncool. I just hope all these are corrected in the amber update, speaking of which we don't even know when it would be released.

Lumia 520 only shooting 2MP instead of 5MP resolut...

Anyone knows how come my Lumia 520 camera shoots 1632x1218 pixels or 1632x916 depending on the aspect ratio, instead of the 5 megapixels it's supposed to shoot? I've used the standard camera app, did a (soft) reset, tried to use the Nokia Camera app, but still 1,5 to 2mp. How can I get my "full" 5MP? :-)

How did you check that resolution? did you check images on the phone?

Speaker problem after an update to windows 8.1 on Nokia lumia 520

After an update to 8.1 my windows phone nokia lumia 520 has encountered a problem with the speaker. I am uable to play any music neither am i able to hear any ringtone of any kind. The phone had no problem till an automatic update took place when i got connected
to an internet acces.
Can anyone let me know if this is an issue of an update or malfunctioning of the speaker without any reason.

As you tried already a reset, did you consider the Nokia Software Recovery Tool on a Windows computer as well?

Lumia 520 stuck on headphones volume control

I was using my nokia lumia 520 to listen to radio with headphones.When unplugged headphones the volume control stayed on headphones so cant change volume on phone for ringtones and music on games/facebook posts etc.Anyone else had thissame problem?

Ring tone of choice -Nokia Lumia 520

After downloading music on my phone, it was practically impossible to use it as a ringtone despite concerted effort used after downloaded Nokia ring tone maker. Is this a general issue peculiar to all Lumia 520 or probably my phone alone and would appreciate a resolve from any quarter. Thank you.

hi mate, i believe the earphones you are looking for do not come standard in the box for 520. You are therefore looking for something along the lines of the Purity earphones or the ones that come in-box with higher end models such as the 920, 925, 1020 etc.

3G Network Connectivity problem on lumia 520

I have been using lumia 520 since the last 10 days but since the last few days once I switch the data connection to off,then switch it back again later I am only able to recieve 2G connectivity eventhough I switched the high connection speed to 3G.After 5-6 attempts by turning high connection speed from 2g to 3g I am able to recieve 3G but it again changes to 2G with the E symbol after sometime.Also my network is always on the lower side once I switch on 3G data connection.I have cut my SIM to MICRO SIM.Please help me with this issue.

You have to contact your operator for you to get a microSIM card. The possible cause of the issue is that you're not using an original microSIM card. Also, cutting your standard SIM to microSIM is not advisable as using it to your phone may damage the internal parts of the phone.

I cant find call + sms filter app in my lumia 520

I have updated my Lumia 520 with the amber update but I couldn't find the call + sms filter app any where in the phone[checked in settings].... please help me to find it..i got radio,data sense etc...with the update

Settings function does not work in my lumia 520

I have lumia 520. when i update Lumia Black in my Setting some of the settings apps does not work. when i click this its return back the settings. i can't update it . how can i update or reinstall it.
Or How can i re-update window for work properly my system.

I had the same problem with a feature. It showed share instead of update and I knew there was an update out there.
I turned my phone all the way off, let it sit for a minute of so and turned it back on. The update then showed up with the updater.

Can't play the video in my Lumia 520

I always love the work of nokia and this time trailer app is just Nice but there's a problem.
I have downloaded 6 trailers and only 1 is able to play.
Rest of them says "sorry we can't play this video on your phone".
I have no idea what's wrong with my phone.
Please help.

What is the error message displayed when you try playing the video? Have you tried using mobile data? If yes, does it show the same issue? What fixes have you tried so far? By the way, are you using the same phone model?

Amber update is not working in my lumia 520

i have installed new update in my lumia 520 .it installed fully and successfully but i cannot find of new features in my phone !!?? features like call+sms filter ,radio and so on.., how can i solve this problem.

Perhaps a more helpful answer is to install "Lumia System Updater". That app will allow you to check and update all the system apps on your phone (such as "extras+info", "about" etc.) that are required for the Amber/GDR2 update to be "seen".
