Lumia 535 - All Settings

My girlfriend recently bought me the Lumia 535 from Tesco's   Ever since turning it on for the first time I have been unable to go to all settings. From the drop down menu, touching all settings does nothing. Also, in the apps menu (on the right), there is no settings. 
For two months I have managed but now it keeps calling people whilst it is in my pocket, as I can't put on a pass code on it. 
Do I  need to send it back to Tesco or is there an easier solution? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, darrensmith0410. You may try restoring the phone to factory default by peforming the buton reset. 
Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10-15 seconds).
When you feel the vibration, immediately press and hold the Volume down button until you see an exclamation mark.
Once the exclamation mark appears, press the following four buttons in this order: Volume up , Volume down , Power , Volume down . Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the reset to finish.)
Make sure to create a backup to avoid data loss. If that doesn't work, you can recover the phones's software using the Windows Phone Recovery tool provided here: http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/support/recovery-t​ool/. Let us know the outcome.

  • GPS not working in Lumia 535

    I have been using Lumia 520 since its release and switched over to Lumia 630 Dual when it was released in India and  for the same SIMs the GPS was working excellent. Recently when Lumia 535 was released I exchanged Lumia 630 for 535.While the mobile touch issues were addressed very well by the two updates -December 2014 and March 2015-I am a bit disappointed to find the GPS is not working properly as it did in 520 and 630 .When Here Drive + is opened, the green arrow appear and my location is shown but the arrow never travel in time over the map as I move in my car or walking and just freeze.If I go out of the app and return back, it updates the location but again the green arrow doe not move on the map along with my motion in car or any other vehicle.I wish to know if future updates will solve this problem or my mobile has any hardwear proplem.As I am very familiar with Lumia series since April 2013, I am sure that I am following the steps and settings perfectly.Please help me.I am  in India and I am using Airtel SIMs.

    Yes I have done all that you have mentioned.Also I have checked with single sim to make sure that it is not due to two sims.As Lumia 520 and 630 were perfectly  locating the position in the same place where I am now living with same sims , I do not find the reason to be anything external. Also I must be a bit descriptive about the problem:
    1.Once Here Maps + or Here Drive + is opened, after locating the position , the distance will display a random digit even though I have not moved at all.For example, after the app is opened Here Drive + will show distance anything random llike 500m or 1Km even if I am not moving.Only after closing and opening the app few times the value gets zeroed. This happens even when sims were tested individually as well in diffeent places in the heart of the city where mobile towers are available.Also, the distance calculated is most of the time wrong and on the higher side.But  in Lumia 520 and 630 I have seen the distance displayed is always 0m to begin with and the green arrow travel with time over the map  .But in 535 the speed used to be most of the time blank with display showing - Km/h
    I must bring to your attention that when I bought Lumia 520 in April 2013 , its GPS performance used to get affected from one up date to another and subsequent update used to correct it .In fact Lumia 630 that I bought in Sept 2014 had GPS problem but an update that follwed made GPS very perfect. As I am a traveller all over South India, I was always using the GPS and it used to work exceedingly well without the network  most of the time with good tower signal.
    The update in March 2015 updated my maps as well. Even Here Drive + was also updated this year and the version now is 4.2.5905.1 and map is 8.30.57.115.
    As I am using all the smart features of Lumia since 520, I am familiar with the operation as well performance of Lumia series .Many of my friends switched over from Android to Lumia ( 525, 630 etc) for the accuarcy of GPS in windows phone without using the internet which is a must in Android.
    I feel that 535 is finding difficult to locate the postion co ordinates and so not working accurately. Even in a car the GPS fail to track the motion in time inside the city most of the time. Where as 630 GPS worked very well even inside AC compartment without any problem without mobile data and with just tower signal.
    All the other applications are working very well.

  • Skype on Microsoft Lumia 535 freezes and stutters

    Hello dear Microsoft, I am really happy with my Microsoft Lumia 535. Great phone, great price. Skype however (which is the prime application) really behaves bad though.It freezes and stutters all the time.For example, to open the app it takes very long. To see my recent contacts takes another 30 seconds or so. To type a message to a contact takes another 30 seconds and while typing it freezes and stutters again.The performance sucks, in short.Are we expecting an update soon? This is a really bad situation, where skype on other platforms runs like a charm, but on MS's own mobile platform, just sucks.... Hope this gets resolved very, very soon! Regards, Sijmen Koffeman

    Hi, After I used the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (link:http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp8/phones-and-hardware/recover-my-phone) and restored my phone, Skype is running without any problems.Be advised that you should make a backup of your data and settings if you use that tool. Good luck, Si.

    first i want to explain my problem with lumia 535 the touch is not working working will especially when i try to write my password to open the phone so when someone call me i cant reply and the phone performed slowly for while and than   working good. kindly feedback me if there will be updated for this issue in future

It is also worth checking if the phone's system settings are all updated. Go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates.     I am new to this forum. And I may have incorrectly raised my concern here - over the usability aspect 'Microsoft lumia 535' mobile phone. Please help - to forward my concern to the correct forum in that case.
    I faced issue in using the key '->' on bottom right corner of phone's home screen (scroll down on the home screen to use the key). Clicking the key '->' should ideally take to the screen to it's right where all the applications are listed. As per known
    behavior of earlier phones of the lumia series like 630,525 etc.
    However, the behavior is ambiguous, sometimes the click on '->' takes to its right screen, and sometimes it refreshes the home screen. And sometimes there is no impact of the click. The behavior is thus improper and provides bad experience in using it.
    Earlier I thought this defect is specific to the phone I purchased, but further I analyzed other 'Microsoft lumia 535' - and the same issue was observed in all the other pieces of lumia 535.
    Please let me know, if it is issue and is already known, or if the behavior is intentional then what is the reason for the same?

  • Lumia 535 not detected in windows 8.1 latest updat...

    I just bought a lumia 535 and it will not install with any USB cable i have on my laptop , it has windows 8.1 up to latest update. Windows update doesnt show any updates available also not after reboot.
    I downloaded the winusb phone driver from microsoft site and tried to install that manually and still it wont work
    This is really a downer, since i expected a windows phone to easily connect to my win 8.1 computer
    Even the cheapest android phone does it in an instant!
    anyone know a way? else this phone goes back to shop because if i cant connact it i dont want it

    Did you get a USB cable with the phone?
    Use the USB cable that came with the phone.
    Connect the phone to the PC.  Turn it all the way off, hold power button and slide the screen down. The phone will turn back on and it will be detected, drivers should load.
    If your operating system did not come with Windows Media Player, install the Media Feature Pack for your version of the operating system.

  • Is Microsoft Lumia 535 worth it?

    Hi I'm from Philippines and I'm planning to buy a Lumia 535 next month... but I'm worried because almost all of the reviews said that it has touch issues and I'm afraid that When I buy I will also get a defective Unit with touch issues too. This is my first Lumia Phone that I'm going to buy and It's the only thing I can afford right now So is it really worth it? Does the touch issues really get fix after the update? please help.. I'm starting to love Lumia phones and I'm starting that love by buying my first Lumia phone called Lumia 535

  • Lumia 535 Dual SIM lcd suddently freeze/blank when...

    I just bought a Lumia 535 LCD Dual SIM. I charge the battery 2 times. The first charge run smoothly but when the battery charge for second time suddenly the LCD not working (freeze/blank).
    I 've tried the instructions on the website that guide me to try soft reset or hard reset by pressing the volume button and power button in certain order but there is no effect at all.
    Has anyone encounter the same problem or indeed because there are factory defects?
    Any suggestion to resolve the issue?

    Hi, @ongky74. We'd like to follow-up on your concern. Have you received any update from your vendor? What was their recommendation? Did they replace the phone or directed to you send it to the Care Point?
    How about you, @supertimin? Do you still have the phone with you or did you send it for repair?   • Problem in developer regisgtration of Lumia 535

    I am trying to register my Lumia 535 device for windows phone development but each time i try to register, it shows a error "check if Windows Phone IP Over USB service is running or not". I have already checked that it is running, I have even restarted
    this service number of times , lock screen is open, automatic time & date update is off . All the  requirements are fulfilled even then it is not registering it.
    Please Help!

    Some of the below workarounds helped to resolve similar issues: You might give this a try and see if it works.
     1. Make sure phone has internet connection
     2. Update your development machine with all recent updates
     3. Use the right USB cable for that device
     4. Check 3rd party software

    Hi There,
    Is the headset included on the sales package of Nokia 535? Couldn't find headset included to the list of items that comes in sales package in product's official microsoft page. pls confirm.
    Also pls mention if lumia 535 can be upgraded to windows 10 or it will be windows 8.1 for life time?

  • Lumia 535 - Skype messaging remains days behind ac...

    I use Skype messaging on my PC and it works perfectly. I recently bought a Lumia 535 (a few days ago) to be able to use the text chatting on Skype whilst out and about.
    It all worked well until my phone did a Windows 8.1 update (took about 20 minutes to do).
    Since then Skype on my phone is a couple of days behind in its messages and thus making it totally unusable.
    I use the PC to Skype when at home and this still works perfectly. My phone however is still showing a last message from around 36 hours ago and will not update it no matter how many times I go into it to check.
    Please help - the only reason I bought a smartphone was for this reason and the reason I bought a Microsoft Lumia is because I thought Skype would work best on there (and because of the price offer at the time).
    Thanks for all your help - I need to get this sorted out ASAP.

    Hi just yesterday i bought lumia 535 i was happy having bought a ultimate phone for 9k then later i started having touch problems... While typing if u hit space it doesnt work u shud hit space button properly orelse it wont work at all.. So wid my erase button and the list goes on while liking pics in facebook too u shud touch the like button properly orelse it wont work
    I just wannna no is it hardware issue or software and am i the only one having this problem??

  • Why does "itunes accounts" use data with all settings OFF?

    Does anyone know how to keep "iTunes accounts" under system from using cellular data?
    I have already:
    1. Toggled OFF all settings in the "Use cellular data for" menu.
    2. Turned OFF all automatic downloads and any other options under iTunes/app store settings.
    3. Turned OFF Background App refresh.
    4. Turned OFF all options under iCloud sync menu.
    Right now, the only thing that keeps "iTunes accounts" from pulling cellular data is turning Cellular Data completely OFF, but I don't want to do this because I lose some messaging and voicemail functions and I need to be able to use Find My Phone. I have two identical iPhone 5c's on this account. One is running iOs 8.1.2 and the above settings control it's data usage nicely. The other phone is running iOs 8.1.3 and this one uses 50-100 mb a day even with all the above settings off and the phone almost always on wifi.
    I am aware that the phone will lose it's wifi connection when asleep, but that shouldn't be a problem if all the apps/settings are already set not to use cellular data. What am I missing. I've read a bunch of threads on this issue and they all suggest settings I already have OFF.

    My personal phone is on 8.1.2. My daughter's phone is 8.1.3.
    It is her phone that is currently having this problem, but I reported it under my account; sorry for the confusion.
    My phone has had some data problems in the past, but I have been able to control them by keeping almost all data options OFF and the overall switch ON. My usage is back to less than 50 mb per month which makes sense since my phone is almost always on wifi and I don't use data dense applications.
    Everything about my daughter's phone is the same as mine except for the 8.1.3 upgrade. She does use things like Instagram more than I do, but I have them all set to not use Cellular Data and the option to change these settings is locked. When I look at the usage on her phone, it isn't her apps that are pulling unexpected data; it's "iTunes accounts" under system services. All the options under iTunes/App Store (auto downloads, home sharing, etc.) and all the iCloud options are already OFF.

I thought it was a one/two-time thing, so had to manually eject SIM card and put back in.  Today, after it happened twice in 12 hours, someone told me to reset - i thought they meant reset all settings, not network settings.  while in the middle of resetting, there was an invalid SIM card again.  so a few questions - which should i do first?  try to manually back up from itunes (not connected to cloud - will be after tonight!), or eject SIM card?  don't know if one will jeopardize the other.  also, the last time i backed up was 6 days ago - have taken hundreds of pics since then - are those all lost?  is there a way to essentially not reset?  i thought the reset was okay because it said i'd lose no data or media. Help!  thanks much!
