Lumia 620 not detecting headphones suddenly

I have a new Nokia Lumia 620 which is only 25 days old. Once while I was talking using my headset , all of a sudden voice stopped coming from the headset. After that my phone is not recognizing the headset. Same headset works fine with other phone.
Whats the solution. seems like a hardware problem ?

I've done a phone reset and made sure it has the latest updates.  With some experimentation I've found that:
1. Most of the time it does detect the headphones when they are inserted.  Almost enough for this problem to be tolerable.
2. Occasionally after inserting the headphones and pressing play (on the music) it starts playing through the speakers, then after a second switches to the headphones.
3. About 1 in 4 times it does not notice the headphones at all, and just plays through the speakers.
4. No amount of 'wiggling' the headphone plug when it's plugged in changes anything - either it plays through the headphones or it doesn't.
Point 4 would suggest it's not a physical problem, unless the windows phone software does not switch the audio output destination when it is already playing something (quite possible since people won't want what their listening to to be broadcast to everyone in the room if the headphones accidentally come out).

  • Lumia 620 not woking after cyan update

I did cyan update on lumia 620 , while updating it shows a sad smile and rebooted to running wheels. after 20-30 seconds its keep rebooting and the loop continues.
    Future is here. where ????
help me if you can. anyway am not going to stay with nokia and wp.

Hi, vaissocial. Sorry to learn about your experience in updating your phone. Let's try to recover your phone through the following troubleshooting steps:
    1. Hardware Reset
Note: All information on your phone will be deleted and anything that has not been backed up will be lost during this process. If you cannot access your phone's menu, unfortunately you will not be able to backup any data.
    a. Make sure your phone is powered off.
    b. Press and hold the volume down button.
    c. Press the power button until the phone vibrates, then release the power button.
    d. Keep the volume down button held until you see an '!' on the screen, then release the volume down button.
When the ! appears, press the following buttons in order:
    volume up
    volume down
    power
    volume down
You should see rotating gears on your screen for around 5 minute and its display will then turn blank for 30 seconds while your phone restarts. It will take several minutes for it to restart. Once it has restarted, you will need to follow the on-screen instructions and complete the initial set-up process on your phone.
    2. If the issue remains, we suggest recovering your phone's software using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. For more information, please check this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/mobile/support/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA142987.
BTW, the link is from the Nokia UK website. For future reference, please refer to your local Nokia website. Keep us posted with the outcome.

  • Lumia 1020 not detected via USB on Windows 7 PCs

Hello - I hope you can help.
My new Lumia 1020 is not detected on any of 3 Windows 7 PCs I have access to. When plugged in the phone will begin to charge but the PC does not detect the phone at all  - it doesn't appear under device manager in any guise (no portable devices or unrecognised devices).
    OS 8.0.10517.150
    Windows 7 64 and 32 bit
I have follwed advice on similar threads and been through the nokiatechsupport.co.uk troubleshooter on the issue which took me through the following:
Install Windows Phone app for Desktop
I just get the 'connect your phone' screen despite restarts of both phone and PC. Also tried switching the phone off and then plugging in = same result.
    Factory Rest
Same result - phone is not detected, nothing appears in device manager.
I've also tried installing the Nokia software recovery tool but that doesn't see the phone either.
Have tried different USB ports on all PCs.
Any help much appreciated, otherwise next step is talking to my network support I guess?
    Thanks
    Iain
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Use the USB cable that came with the phone.  Have you always done this?
A device that is under lock screen may not be detected and drivers will not load.
The desktop phone sync program provides nothing that will help the phone be detected.
The phone has to be seen by the PC and identified. When this happens the drivers are downloaded from the internet for the phone. Having the drivers does no good if the phone is not identified by the PC.
If you have access to other Win7 or 8 PC's try connecting to them. If you take it to anybody that is the first thing they will do. This helps determine if it is the phone or the PC.
If you take somewhere use Nokia Care.
One thing I saw today, user having the same problem. On the phone, start an app that connects to the internet, like a news app. Then connect the phone to the PC.
There are phones that won't connect.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.

  • Nokia Lumia 620 Not Turning On

For some strange reason I cannot turn on my nokia lumia 620, when I connect to charger it gets the battery blinking but not charges. What should I do?

Hello, kmahendra. Glad to know you managed to find a workaround for the issue you have. BTW, this is for a Lumia 620 device as well, correct?
Given the situation you have, it would still be best to test another battery to the device. If the issue is the same with the battery, the phone needs to be assessed physically by a technician. If you consider sending the device for repair, back up your files to avoid data loss. Go to Settings > backup.

I downloaded the winusb phone driver from microsoft site and tried to install that manually and still it wont work

Even the cheapest android phone does it in an instant!
anyone know a way? else this phone goes back to shop because if i cant connact it i dont want it

Did you get a USB cable with the phone?
Use the USB cable that came with the phone.
Connect the phone to the PC.  Turn it all the way off, hold power button and slide the screen down. The phone will turn back on and it will be detected, drivers should load.

  • Anyone have problem with Iphone 6 not detecting headphone mode after updating of IOS 8.1.2?

    Hi there,
After I have updated to the latest IOS 8.1.2, I have no issue so far except for unable to detect my earphone as no sound can be heard from my earpiece, and the music coming out of the speaker instead. Has anyone faced similar problem so far after upgrading to IOS 8.1.2?

In order to fix this issue do the following:
If you look closely Inside the Headphone port there are these tiny little metal screw Balls which get pushed
in when you insert the Headphones.
The phone gets stuck in headphone mode (if in an event when these tiny little metal screws are pushed in).
To cut the long story short , all you need to do is push these metal balls screws in and out.
Simplest way to do so is to insert you headphone into the port and twist it around a bit or a use a pin/tiny screw that could help push these metal balls in and out.
This should fix the issue. (Primarily what we end up doing is reset the metal balls into a release position).
    Hope this helps

  • MIRACAST possible with Lumia 620

  • Lumia 620 - Device not detected

    Hi,
I've been using my 620 for a month now with no problems.I use the phone for developing purposes (Visual Studio 2012 + Windows 8 Pro).
Around 8 days ago, I received a pack of updates of the Nokia bundled apps which I installed and after that, when I connect the phone via the USB cable, the Phone is not detected on Windows.
I read lots of other threads about this kind of problems, even went through reinstalling all the Windows Phone SDK, reinstalled drivers (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749484), tried 4 different USB cables, on all the ports of my computer, tried 5 different computers too (two of which have Windows 7, three have Windows 8), removing the SD card, and the Phone still is not detected. The charging icon appears and the Phone charges OK though.
The Phone does not appear on Windows Device Manager under any kind of label (No Unrecognized Device either), Windows Explorer does not show any drive (MTP), its like the cable is not connected (although it charges without a problem).
I don't have the Amber update yet.
Is there any kind of setting (possibly hidden?) that controls the USB behavior of the phone? I read there are no Diagnostics tools for WP8, but, is there any way I can check if there is a hardware problem?
    Thanks in advance!

The vol down + power is only a reboot. Perhaps you might consider a reset from Settings>about>reset your phone.

  • Volume Button Not Working on Lumia 620

Today my volume rocker switch on my Nokia Lumia 620 stopped working suddenly. It was dropped a couple times today as I was at a concert and people rushed past.
The volume switch feels spongy when pushed in and only adjusts the volume when pushed down painfully hard. But it happens with both my covers, so I'm maybe wondering if it's an internal hardware issue? When the cover is off, the two small buttons can be pushed down easily, it's just the rocker switch on the covers that don't work. Anyone know what is going on with it? Sent from my 620.

Hi, Mozilla. Just to clarify, you've tried 2 different back covers on your Lumia 620 and you still experience difficulty pressing your volume keys, right? Only the technicians can confirm if there was an impact on the internal hardware of the phone. Saying this, we suggest taking the phone to a Nokia Care Point for an evaluation and repair: Nokia Support. Please note that the repair process may delete your personal data, so it is best to create a backup file: Back up my stuff.

  • IPod touch sudden black screen, not detected by iTunes

I was using my iPod Touch yesterday & connected it to iTunes, it beeped like usual when it's plugged in, was lit up for no more than a second, then suddenly went black. I tried plugging it both into a wall outlet (using a USB converter) & back into my computer, & it was not detected.
I have tried holding down home+power for 10 seconds & just power for 10 seconds & it still isn't turning on or showing up in iTunes. Any ideas?
    Thank you so much.
