Lumia 620 option to select front camera has vanish...

Noob here so go easy on me, tried searching but couldn't find anything...
My Lumia 620 seemed to spend most of the weekend updating various things including windows 8.1 cyan. now when I select the camera function I haven't got the option anywhere to select the front camera. When I start the standard (Microsoft?) camera app either from the apps menu or by using the camera button I just get a choice of Video, Burst and Single Photo modes across the bottom, tapping on ... brings up photo and video settings but no option anywhere to change to front camera. The rear camera seems to work fine.
Is this likely to be related to the updates or could something else be up (I haven't tried to use the front camera for a while).
Any suggestions appreciated.

Everything's simple when you know it/how to
From within the camera settings, you can also change default camera app if you've installed other ones. The Nokia camera app and Nokia panorama app are free apps to concider if you like taking pictures
And if you're one of those selfie-junkies, you have the Nokia Glam me app

It sounds like you're seeing an unexpected black line when you take photos with your rear camera. I would next backup the iPad to your iTunes library:

Pathway to select external editor has vanished

How do I get iPhoto '11 to see my new upgraded version of Photoshop Elements? I installed PE9, but right clicking an image and selecting Edit in External Editor opens PE8. The pathway Preferences > General > Edit photo: has vanished so I can't tell it to look for PE9.

In iPhoto 11 that's now Preferences -> Advanced -> Edit Photos:
From the Drop Down select Elements 8 and it will then offer you a window to choose your preferred option.

At the end of the day, the issue here is only software. The hardware is already in place.
You can't easily add hardware to something afterwards without a complete redesign
It reminds me of the old Nokia 6630. It supported video calling but had no front camera.
You either had to use the back camera or buy a separate stand to sit the phone in that had a forward facing camera on

You may need to contact Apple Support in order to obtain service for your iPhone, as this is the only step remaining from our iPhone Hardware Troubleshooting guide.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

Lumia 620 Photos with Flash Washed Out?

May I find out if this is normal or there might be a fault with my phone? I'm running the Amber update on Lumia 620
The photo on the left has flash turned on and it is noisy and off color. Using flash appears to give the photo a washed out / instragram look.
Both photos were taken in natural light.

hi mate, i have experienced some of the issues that others have faced here with the Amber update. the Amber update bought even more saturated colouring, and apparently there will be a return to natural colours in the upcoming Lumia Black update, due to land in early 2014.

Replaced front screen why is my front camera now orange?

I replaced the front glass of my phone because it was cracked and the back camera wasn't working at all. Now after being replaced the back camera works fine and the front camera has an orange blotchy tint. What can I do to fix this problem without dropping another $50?

Since you apparently replaced it yourself you either installed an inferior product or you damaged the front camera CCD. You also voided any warranty the phone may have had and eliminated any chance for Apple to repair the phone in the future, as Apple will not touch any phone that has been repaired by a user or a 3rd party. Apple would have charged you $109 to replace the front glass. You can try dropping another $50, but that may not be the problem.

Lumia 620 front facing camera

Hi,
i am unable to use the front facing camera on my lumia 620.
i have tried updating the software and it says there are no new updates as it is fully up to date, however i still cannot work out how to use the front facing camera. Everything else on the phone works fine, including the main camera and the flash. I can see it has a camera on the front and reviews have said it is a vga camera, but i am unable to use it, as i cannot work out how.

My father in-law bought an iPhone 4 awhile back and has been taking a lot of pictures with his phone and it's worked but now when he opens his camera it doesn't give him the option to use his front camera?

Why will his phone not give him the option of using his front camera?

Also, the iPhone is not a Storage device... has he been Backing Up Regularly...

Lumia 1520 reboots when front camera is used

Hi all, I picked up an international version of the Lumia 1520 a couple of weeks back in India and I just realized that the phone reboots when ever I try to use the front camera. This is happening with all apps. The apps that i have tried till now are as follows
OneShot, Nokia Camera, Default camera app and Camera360.
The reboot happens with all the apps only when I try to use the front camera. I have tried hard resetting the phone but that too has not solved the problem. I have seen a couple of discusstions on this topic over here but none of them contained any helpful replies.
The handset is running the Lumia Black update. I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue or software issue. If it is a software issue I dont mind waiting for a patch, but if it is a hardware issue then I have no option but to reutrn to it. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a Nokia Lumia 1520 from Snapdeal. 2 days after using the phone, I inserted an SD card for data transfer and it didn't work with the phone. I tried to format the SD card as per Nokia forums and also tried to reset the phone but to no help. I took the handset to Nokia Care (Net Dot Solutions, Tilak Nagar, Delhi) and they tried to do a software upgrade but to no help.
I submitted the brand new working phone and the Nokia care kept it for 15 days. The only reply I ever got from them was that the set is in the factory with no status update at all. After 15 days I got response from Nokia care that the Phone is warranty devoid and not covered under warranty any more. There was no specific reason given for the warranty being devoid.
When I went to collect the set, it had minor scratches on the screen, which were not there when the set was submitted. The support personnel said that these are very minor and expected to be there. Very Strange! Also upon using the phone after I got it back from Nokia Care, I found that the front Camera is not working and the phone crashes each time the Camera is opened. Also the Auto-Brightness control (probably due to its sensor) is also not working.
Nokia care has damaged my phone in the 15 days they had it. Who is to be held responsible. And now they say my phone is warranty devoid and I need to pay for any repairs.

Lumia 1520.3 Front Camera Issue

As Lumia Denim update is expected on the last quarter of the year, will it fix the front camera issue of the Lumia 1520?
My phone is originally running on Lumia Black and the phone is working perfectly until i installed the dev prev. Regardless of what camera app, once front camera is called, app automatically close. Done soft reset, hard reset and Nokia Recovery Tool but to no avail, front camera is still useless.
Hope the next iteration of the software will fix this problem.

hi mate, sorry to hear of your problems. have u tried installing Lumia Cyan as this may fix your issues (i.e. has the correct optimisations and driver updates for your Nokia). i know it is a pain to hard reset and update manually to Lumia Cyan, but it may be the only option before taking your phone to Nokia Care for inspection

Front camera in lumia 630

I purchased my 1st Lumia (630 dual sim) 1 month ago from India assuming that it has a front camera and never bother to check.I now realise that this feature isn't available in this model.Is there an option for me to return this and upgrade to another one with front camera ?

Nokia Lumia 900 Front camera issues

I bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 few days back and today for the first time when I tried using the front camera on one of my video calls it just froze. Thinking that it is software(skype, tango) problem I tried to open regular camera but the front camera wouldnt come up. I called At&t technical support he advised me to switch off the phone, remove sim, re-insert the sim and turn it on. It worked(thought I still dont understand the realtion between sim and camera). But after some time the camera again hung up on me. This time I switched my phone off for 5 minutes and then turned it on it worked. And I cannot do the whole process again and again all day. Is that a known issue or defect in my phone.

I also have a new Lumia 900 with skype installed. I am finding that the experience on wifi is still not as smooth as Facetime on an iPhone. I am also finding that after I use it a second time (my call hung up in the middle), suddenly my front camera will not work correctly anymore. It is showing the image as though it has some kind of a filter applied and there does not appear to be a way to turn or reset this filter. Switching to the front view worked fine. Audio continued to work fine and my phone did not lock up, other then possibly internet delays. I got the front camera to work again by powering down. I think there might still be software issues.
