Lumia 620 overheating on 3G network

I've been using my lumia on DOCOMO 3G network and found that its back portion, particularly the camera region gets incredulously hot. I dont face the same problem while on 2G network. Is something wrong with my phone, or all the 620s or is it a common phenomena?

Still I'm not sure if this is a problem or not but it's a common situation in all Lumia series. On my Lumia 920, I measured 43 C (~110F) degrees after 15 mins of 3G internet usage.

  • Lumia 620 Overheating and Discharging

My Lumia 620 got discharged in an hour after heating too much (even in idle situation).
Please give me a solution for the same.

It's not impossible that a software glitch occured and made the cpu go wild draining all the power. Did you install any app or do anything special before this started happening? - If so, redo what you did and then/or if not:
Pull out the battery before reinstalling and turning the device on again. Then watch it closely to see if this occurs again.
If it still does so, please visit a Nokia care point for an inspection.

  • Nokia Lumia 620 will not reconnect to network auto...

If i am in a location without o2 connection for more than 4 or 5 hours, when i move to an area with good o2 coverage the phone will not reconnect automatically, continues to say "no service".I have to turn phone off and on again and re-enter pin for it to reconnect. The sim is old BT cellnet card, but works ok in my old nokia C3 phone.

    Hi icepete,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
How's your phone now? Are you still having the same network connection issue after changing the SIM card? @hpholm is correct. For network-related issues, one of the first thing to check is the SIM card's functionality. Are you using a standard micro-SIM card, or a cut-up regular one? The Lumia 620 is designed to use a standard micro-SIM card. If your operator provided you a cut up regular SIM, you can request them to give you a standard micro-SIM.
If you're already using a micro-SIM card and are still getting the same issue, try doing the following troubleshooting steps.
    1. Reboot the phone by simultaneously pressing and holding the volume down and power keys until it vibrates and restarts. This won't delete anything in your phone but will restore some settings like date and time.
    2. Make sure that the phone's software is updated. Check it by going to Settings > Phone update.
    3. Verify if all system apps are also updated by scanning the QR codes shown at this link: Nokia Windows Phone 8 App Updates.
    We'll wait for your feedback.

  • Disappointed with my windows phone!!(lumia 620)

I bought a new lumia 620 as a back up to my android(htc one x+)..but I am very disappointed with some of these glitches..
    1. No notification centre..it's really a pain!
    2. Can't pay via SIM card to purchase an app..
    3. Can't play high mp4, mkv, flv videos though I think the snapdragon s4 is capable to do it..is Nokia waiting for a developer to put up such an app at the store?!!
    4. Limited file download size...!!! It's worst...I got an unlimited data plan and don't really have to care..why Microsoft has to protect me!! Instead they should turn it to a feature by allowing the user to decide the restriction..for example: if u have a 1 GB data plan you should be able to set a restriction which would protect you when your overall usage exceeds 1 GB! I feel as if windows is trying to follow APPLE blindly..why make it so complicated instead of user friendly!!
    5. My handset does crash and restarts at least once a day..
    6. Battery drains out too quickly..something which is not expected from Nokia
    7. Very few apps..most of them are **bleep**..if not they are too costly..I even feel Microsoft should reduce the price of app hosting
    8. Whenever I share via Bluetooth..my phone hangs for sure and there is no option other than removing my battery and restarting..
    9. If any unsupported file format is downloaded I don't know where is it stored..and eats up my memory...
I am even using APPLE IPOD with which I share a better experience than my lumia...
I am sure to ditch this useless paper weight within a month if no improvements appear..
Sorry if my language is rough but it's my frustration with lumia..and I am fed up..expecting a good update...
And these are what I know is all consumers want..Nokia and Microsoft should think about consumers satisfaction above all!!!
    Thanks

Paying through your mobile account for apps is the responsibilty of your network provider to support this feature for Windows Phone, so you need to take your complaint to them.

  • Lumia 620 Black Update, availability in Africa!

I have the Lumia 620. I have been waiting for the Black update since the rollout started. I have the phone that is the only one amongst all the other phones, based on the network provider I am using, that is still waiting for availability. My phone has been acting up, I am beginning to see problems arise. I mentioned this to one of Nokia's employees and I was told it could be due to I do not have the update. Therefore problem can't be within my fault per se. This is just one of many emails. Any communication would be appreciated.

Did you try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool already? There, what is your 7-letter code (product code)? That code determines your firmware variant which determines your current version. Then we can check together if you have the latest version.

  • Nokia lumia 620 second simcard

hello, i got a second simcard for my nokia lumia 620. as i understand it, it should work dual simcards. i would love to use my second simcard now (i'm abroad and got a local one) - it fits but i don't know how to use it. and i can't find anything in the handbook regarding this. how do i adjust my phone settings? after rebooting the phone it still asks for my pin lock for my standard card (even if only the new card is in the phone). and when i try to connect to the cards according phone network it says "not valid". so the phone does find the network and the card is in the phone, but i can't connect (access the new second simcard). anyone?
i would be very thankful for your help with this!

As far as I know Lumia 620 is single sim device. There is no dual SIM Lumia 620. May be you have inserted you secound sim card into memory card reader?
Or are you talking about Lumia 630? This is availible as dual sim.

No doubt that you have already checked the obvious settings in Mobile network & Access point (don't use mine as example) and power cycled the device? You could always as last resort reset device and let it setup again:

  • Lumia 620 wifi connection problem

My Lumia 620 disconnect wifi few times a day, few hours everytime, whenever I go to the wifi settings, either  there are just wifi(without mine) with no signal or nothing at all. Restarting phone and router won't work

    Hi sengyau,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Does the issue only happen with a particular Wi-Fi? Is the behavior same when connecting to other Wi-Fi networks? Try rebooting the phone. Don't forget to remove and replace the battery. If you have a phone cover, remove it for a while and connect the phone to the Wi-Fi to test it. Covers may block the Wi-Fi antena from receiving signals.
You may also delete the WiFi profile saved in the phone. Go to Settings, and then Wi-Fi. Tap and hold the Wi-Fi network that's having issues, and then delete. After that, reconnect the phone to the same Wi-Fi network.
It's also recommended to keep the phone software up-to-date. Check it by going to Settings, and then Phone update.
Failing still, try to restore the original settings of the phone. Go to Settings, and then About. Hit Reset device. However, this step will erase all data stored in the phone. Kindly create a backup under Settings, and then Backup. You may also transfer your media files to the PC via USB-MTP to avoid data loss. Consider resetting as your last resort.
    Hope this information helps.

  • Lumia 620 MMS Problem

I have a Nokia Lumia 620 unlocked running on Vodafone Ireland, however I can't recieve any pictures via MMS.
From doing some reading Win Phone 8 is supposed to read the settings from the SIM but this obviously isnt working in my case. I tried turning data off rebooting the phone and turning data back on again but that didn't change anything either.
Doese anyone have any tips or suggestions on what else I could do ?
    Thanks.

If your sim is old I would still recommend getting a new sim because new sims will have more than just the apn settings. There are also data settings which will provide you with better and faster connections.
However, if you still with to try a manual setup, then goto Settings>Access Point>Add. Settings shouls be as follows.
    Voda Live
    Data Type: Default
    Access Point Name: live.vodafone.com
    User Name: dublin

Thanks for the help I appreciate it but I don't have all of those setting under Win Phone 8, this is what I get and me trying to fit them into what I think are the closest match.
    Connection Name = Voda Live
    Data Type = Default
    'Internet APN'
Access Point Name = live.vodafone.com (is leaving out the http:// valid ?)
    Username = dublin
    Password = dublin

    Proxy Port = 80
    Network Type = IPv4

  • Heating issue of Lumia 620

    Hi,
my Lumia 620 gets heated soon & it does not seem me to be normal as my roommate has also a Lumia 620 & it works okay.no heating I've seen..
    what is this??

Overheated would mean you can't touch the phone. I am fairly sure you mean to say it gets warmer.
If it get's too hot to hold you obviously have an issue there and you should have the phone checked,

  • Lumia 620 - connection speed to router ( BT (UK) H...

I have a UK BT Home Hub 2b.
My nettbook connects to it at either 54Mbps or occasionally 104Mbps, as reported by the router. The speed is usually 54 but occasionally when close to the router (or maybe on 'low noise' days) it hits 104.
My 620 always connects at 39Mbps as reported by the router never faster and never slower. Even if I'm right by the router or at the other end of the house, its 39Mbps as reported by the router.
This seems odd to me that the netbook, a few years old now, seems to connect faster than a phone purchased in the last month. I know 39Mbps is probably fast enough in reality for a phone, but was wondering if others have seen this speed differenece or if I have a setting somewhere incorrectly set (either on the router or the phone), or maybe the phone is faulty?
The networks is set for 'n' working. I have asked BT who were of little help.
    Any ideas?
Any Lumia 620 people on a BT hub of any type getting similar speeds (39Mbps) or connecting at faster speeds?
    Thanks in advance.

    aleisha11,
Thanks for the reply. I was more hoping that others would share their typical connection speeds. I realise its not (probably) possibly to make direct comparissons between a netbook and a phone, but they are the only two bits of wireless kit I have.
I only asked, because tucked away in the NOKIA FAQs was this gem:
When connecting Nokia mobile device (e.g. N8-00) to a WLAN access point using the IEEE 802.11n mode, connectivity issues have been observed with access points from certain vendors. Problems have been observed with at least the following WLAN products:
    FritzBox 7270
    Livebox 2
    BT HomeHub V2.0 Type B
    Netgear DGN1000
The issue is related to a WLAN chip used in these access points. To solve the problems, it is recommended to upgrade the access point firmware to the latest version.
If there is no firmware update available or the update doesn't help, the workaround is to disable the 802.11n mode and force the access points to use just the 802.11b/g mode.
And as it doesn't mention the specifics or the BT HH2b software level, I just wondered if the lower speed had an impact on my main issue - http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/play-to-for-wp8/Discussion/Play-to-lumia-620-DLNA-panasonic-video-s...
I'd still be interested in anyone typical router connection speed if they would care to share.

  • Nokia Lumia 620 upgrade Denim

    Upgrade Denim

Got a critical software update message yesterday to upgrade to Denim (8.10.14219.341)
Unfortunately I agreed and it messed up my Lumia 620 - spinning cogs on power up & no way to get the phone even back to factory settings using keypresses on device.   I needed to install the Lumia software recovery tool to get an install back on the 620 - not a quick process and poor on screen instructions.
Lumia software recovery tool installed the following (not Denim software):
    Firmware: 3058.50000.1425.0006
    Software: 8.10.12393.890
Within minutes of getting the phone functional again (obviously all data lost from it) I got a a critical software update message again to upgrade to Denim. I thought that the initial problem was maybe the software trying to install on the wrong firmware (the firmware installed by the recovery tool seems to be the right version), so I tried to upgrade to Denim again - doh!  Back to the spinning cogs!
Back to the Lumia software recovery tool.
I'm with Talktalk (Vodafone network), but (according to a support page) the recovery tool seems to have installed the Firmware for O2.  Hopefully it will work OK for a while - I can't go through this process a 3rd time.
I guess I now have to ignore the critical software update messages.  I would advise you to do the same - unless someone from Mircosoft can provide a reliable update for the 620.

  • Receiver can't hear my voice - Lumia 620

    Hi guys,
I have been using Lumia 620 for 5 months. Everytime I chat more than 5 minutes, there always be a problem. The most annoyed me is 'receiver cannot hear me' issue. When I chat more than 5 mins, then receiver can hear me for two mins and then she can't hear me for 15 secs. It switched between hear and can't hear for the entire of 30 mins of chatting. It was so annoying.
I'm using the same number, same network, chat in the same place as I used Nokia 5230 about a year ago but for 5230 there was no problem at all. I tried to change network to test if the problem was network but things were the same.
Several 620 users in my country (Thailand) face the same problem. I have already sent my 620 to Nokia Care to fix it. They told me that the problem is mechanics (MR) issue. However, my 620 is still sick, nothing changes before/after fixing.
Is there anyone can suggest me about my issue?

Sadly there isn't anything this forum can help you with other than to suggest you go back to Nokia Care to have your phone repaired correctly.
    Good luck.

  • Lumia 620 can't connect to internet after system u...

I have a brand new Nokia Lumia 620, I've only had it for about a month. I saw there was a new system update this past Saturday, so I updated my phone. With the update came Data Sense, the option to block numbers from calling/texting me, and some other new options in the Settings menu. However I've noticed that I can't connect to the internet though my data plan anymore. I have 500 MB included on my plan and suddenly I can't use it. Connecting though wi-fi works fine. I looked through settings, it says my 3G connection is on and everything. I don't really know what to do.
    Solved!

Next thing to try involves a little more work. You need to contact your network and get the apn settings. Once you have the settings, goto Settings>Access points>+, then set up access point using the apn settings you got earlier.  Once you set it up, make sure to activate it and see if this works.

  • 1308 Firmware Update for Puerto Rico Lumia 620

I was wondering if anyone had an idea on when the 1308 firmware update will be pushed to Lumia 620s that are the Puerto Rico variant? I have an unlocked 620 from Puerto Rico and I would really like to enjoy the new features in that firmware update.

    hi mate,
Nokia has stated a few weeks ago that the update has begun rolling out and will take a number of weeks before it reaches particular countries / operators. if your device is being held up, then you may want to check with your network carrier if your phone is a branded handset.
