Lumia 620 Video Recording Issues

I recorded this video today (link below) with my 620 and it came out horrible. I thought it might have been the shakiness of my filming but I even tried recording a steady pan of my living room afterwards and the video and audio were still choppy. And this is on my phone, this isn't some youtube problem. I recently did a hard reset and this is the first video I've recorded since then. Before the reset, videos came out great (second link below) but I don't know what happened and I don't wanna do another hard reset, those suck.

Please help, thanks.

Hi, Canarg. Did you also perform a hard reset? Have you updated your device? How about all the lens apps installed on your phone? Ensure that all of them are up-to-date. It would also help if you can possibly attach a video like what hamidq did so we can also compare the quality.

  • Lumia 620 video format - Panasonic TV

I had previously had problems with DLNA streamiing - http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Lumia-620-quot-Play-To-quot-app/td-p/1772318http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Lumia-620-quot-Play-To-quot-app/td-p/1772318 and have now been in discussion with Panasonic.
They seem to be claiming the Nokia Video format is not compatibile with their TV sets ( well mine anyway, a TX-L37DT30B ).
The Panasonic manual seems to say it can handle MP4 files of type H.264 BP/MP/HP with AAC/MP3 audio.
The Nokia web site for the 620 says "Video recording formats: MP4/H.264" and "Audio recording file formats: 3GP, 3G2"
The Panasonics DLNA "file manager" can see the video and reports it as 1280x720p MP4 file, but it stutters badly when played back via the 'Play To' Beta app.
    So the questions basically are:
    Am I missing something,
    Are these video/Audio formats compatibile?
And more importantly, should the Lumia 620 be able to play back video on a Panasonic TV? (Any other panasonic users out there).
    Thank you

Beta forum - that will have to wait then. I've had two attempts to post to it (from different browsers) and both failed. After pressing <submit> to make the post it gives a message "server unavailable" (or some such nonsense).
    I tried to post:
I'm trying to stream Lumia 620 video to a panasonic TV using DLNA via a BT Home Hub 2B. The phone connects wirelessly to the router, and the TV connects via powerline Eth adapters to the router.
Whilst I can connect and see photos on the TV, video is just a stuttering slide show.
I originally posted here - http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Lumia-620-video-format-Panasonic-TV/td-p/1810002 and was advised to post on the Beta discussion as well.
The video stutters when played by DLNA, but the same video transferred to an SD card via a PC, plays OK in the TV.
I've been on touch with Panasonic and they seem to be blaming the phones video format for not playing in the media server, yet their brochure for the TV claims it can play 720p MP4 videos.
    Any ideas?
Should the Lumia be able to stream its own videos to a Panasonic TV?
    Thank you.

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 Video recording/playback issues.

I seem to have issues with video recording. Video seems to have some pause "still" effects when taking video and playback in phone shows those stops very clearly as it freezes for while and jumps many seconds forward.
When I play same file in PC with video player the video plays better but still I can manage to see some small Glitch in video like my phone did stop recoding for some frames.  I have been using SD card and phone memory and both have same problem.

No solution so far and it is my wife phone so haven't have much reason to play with it find solution. She only takes photos anyway.
This current phone has already broke down 2 sim cards also or wireless charging did brake those not sure after stop using wireless charging 3rd sim card have been fine.
someday when have I feeling to take this phone to warranty service I will try wireless charging again.

  • Video recording issues (it jumps and the audio sto...

    Dear Support team,
I was very satisfied with my phone for a couple of months but nowadays I've an annoying issue with the video recordings of my Nokia Lumia 920. I've noticed in the past few weeks that there's a "bleep" or a "jump" in each video I take. (Nokia Camera software, Lumia Black, RM-821_eu_hungary_434)
It's very dissapointing because every video is let's say faulty at some point of the video.
For example please take a look at the following video at 0:34 where not just the video "jumps" but the audio recording also stops for a couple of seconds:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD9R2x5Kx4c
The interesting thing is that during the next 21 minutes it did not make any mistakes while recording.
Please take a look at an another example at 3:31:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYQ5vNY-BUw
If you're interested in debugging the issue I can send you somehow (by FTP or so) the original files as well.
I have got more videos which are like this and it was shown like this on the phone's screen as well so I've ruled out the possibility to have an issue while transfering it to my PC.
I'm assuming that possibly there's something wrong with the Lumia 920's RAM memory or with the 32GB internal storage drive, e.g.: let's say bad sector like on hard drives.
The phone recently had it's first freezing while I was reading my facebook the phone suddenly went black and restarted.
I still have 1,5 year warranty on my phone but I've bought ~150 km far away so I hopeI won't need to travel there and wait for weeks and to travel there again to get my phone back! What do you suggest?
Is it possible that it's rather a software issue not a hardware? Or should I return my phone to the retail shop or is there any downloadable software patch to correct this issue? Is this a known issue to you?
I've noticed one more thing: when I'm using my phone for e.g. like 10 minutes it's back cover gets warmer and warmer somewhere around the camera; I thought first it's because of the higher processor and battery usage but I don't think it's normal. The "heat issue" is also present while playing with a game.
Info: my battery lasts for 1,5 day or so by very moderate usage, is it normal? (4 times a day wifi for 5-10 minutes, max. 1 pcs one minute call per day)
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Best Regards

    Hi All,
I'm shocked about this device as you know I was disappointed due to the video recording glitches previously, but what yesterday happened is the worst I could ever imagine: I've recorded 3 videos and from this 3 videos 2 are unplayable even on my phone and on my PC, it gives an error message: "The video failed to play".
The 2 files can't be seen in the camera roll only by using Pocket File Manager.
I was able to copy all files to my computer:
    WP_20140802_21_16_58_Pro.mp4 - 661 203 084 bytes - playable
    WP_20140802_21_22_19_Pro.mp4 - 3939 658 131 bytes - unplayable
    WP_20140802_22_13_59_Pro.mp4 - 3235 991 965 bytes - unplayable
To me these 2 videos are really very important, please help me to recover them! Please tell me, how you want me to send the files as they're, ~4GB each, by using Onedrive or how?
If this issue won't be solved I'm considering NOT TO BUY a Nokia again! Can it be a hardware related issue, e.g. faulty internal flash? Should I return the phone to the retail shop?
    Regards

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 video recording on Microsd card i...

First off, I have a Nokia Lumia 1520 for about one month now.  I love the screen size and everything.  My picture/video recording to phone memory works fine.  I have recently purchased a Class 10 Sandisk Pixtor 64GB microsd card from Best buy for video/pictures storage due to this device having only 16GB of memory.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-pixtor-64gb-microsdhc-class-10-memory-card/1299201.p?id=12190475...
Picture taking is fine writing to this card.  However, I noticed that on all video recording mode (720p to 1080p), the video would sometimes skip and lose a few frames here and there.  For example, when i try to record a video of a kid running, the video playback will show the kid run across but would jerk or freeze a bit during his run (almost like the phone is too busy doing other tasks during recording).  Playing the same videos on a computer show the same result which means the video taken were bad to begin with.  My temporary fix is to switch video/picture recording to the phone storage itself but that defeats buying the sd card in the first place.
Anybody else having this issue?  I couldn't find another microsd card to test but i wonder if the phone itself is having a performance issue with sd cards in general.  Should i engage with tech support from Nokia?

It is quite well known that Class10 card are overkill on a mobile phone and in many cases have been proven to actually have worse performance when compared to even Class4 cards.
Class10 cards really only make sense in (high end) DSLR ca,eras where itis a requirement the shots can be written to the card fast. In practical use the class only indicates the card cab sustain a transferrate of X MB/s and with that in mind a Class4 card even will be plenty fast for your mobiel phone.
Due to the fact a Class10 card is basically overspec for the hardware it may even cause timing issues.

  • Lumia 710 video recording

Just got my new Lumia 710 today. My last phone was a WP 6.5. The interface is very different.
I tried video recording on the Lumia. I do not get any(or faint) sound recording during video recording. Can I confirm there is a mic at the rear of the phone? There is a tiny hole below the LED, could that be a mic? If I speak in front of the phone, while video recording, I could hear myself clearly. It seems the mic at the front of the phone is the active mic for sound recording. But this does not make sense as your subject is in front of the camera.
Does any Lumia 710 owners face the same situation?

I'm experiencing the same problem (1) with my Lumia 800. It started recently and does not always occur.

  • Lumia 620 software upgrade issues

    Hi,
My Nokia lumia 620 with windows8 was upgraded to the latest software (amber, i guess) and after this the touchscreen stopped working. The touchscreen was recently replaced.
    * Is there a way to go back to the previous version of software (where the touchscreen was accessible)
    * Is there a new upgrade planned to resolve the touchscreen problem.

Was the display repalced by an authorised Nokia care Centre ?
Try a Soft Reset (Press Power + Volume(down) keys until the phone vibrates (about 8-10 seconds). Phone will reboot...) and see if the problem gets resolved ..
Also confirm that all the System applications are upto date. You may use THIS application to check..
BTW there is no way to Roll Back the Firmware.

  • Lumia 820 video recording fail

l've checked everywhere for forums discussing this absolutly appauling oversight of the 820. I've tested 3 phones and they all have the same problem, which l'm starting to feel is a fault in all of them. Problem is this, the video recording will not save files longer then 10 minutes.
    Yep.
Without a warning it will just decide not to save your video, even on the lowest settings, it will just randomly crash and you are left with nothing to show for it. What nokia? what is this oversight? you expect to catch up to samsung and apple when you can't even make a phone record more then 10 minutes?
So to anyone wanting a smartphone that can record something more then a gif, look elsewhere.

    hi mate,
no such problems with my 920. have you checked that you have the latest Portico update for Windows Phone 8 downloaded and installed already? you can check under Settings > Phone Update. meanwhile, also check that you are fully up to date with all the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store.
if the above fails, try performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates). i would also check that if you are saving recorded videos onto a microSD card, that the card is in good working order with other devices etc.

  • Lumia 620 video sound

Hey, i noticed an annoying issue/problem whatever it is. So, after 8.1 update, everything ok, except the phone is strugeling in main screen etc. Example shut down a program so the phone goes to the main screen and the tiles update's slowly or are invisible and appears slowly. But the actual issue yeah, when watching a video and if i rew it backward or forward and it loads the video for a moment, then when the video continues a loud popping sound comes from speaker. There wasn't this before, annoying i would say... Sry possible bad English.

Hello, JP083.You're referring to the Lumia Cyan SW when you say '8.1 update', is that right? Does it happen to all videos that you're playing? After the update, have you also tried checking if the system apps are up-to-date?
Try scanning the QR codes shown at this link to verify: Nokia Windows Phone 8 App Updates. After this, try playing the same video and see if the same issue will happen. Try closing apps as well to verify if this step also helped resolved your first concern about shutting down programs.
Let us know how it will go.

  • HELP!! Lumia 710 Video recording/saving problem

So I'm having my Nokia Lumia 710 from 2012 February. I tried to record videos but there are 2 different ways how my phone handles it
    1. After making a video, it freezes (The screen freezes, the last picture of the video is visible, it's probably saving) and than, the video is gone. The phone locks itself, and the video+music library doesn't contain my video
    2. The phones saves my video (happened only a few times...) , but when I'm looking it back (on PC and on phone) it's lagging, and pictures fall out... Seconds fall out from the video, but the sound is running. The picture freezes sometimes, and the sound is running.
The longer the video, the bigger problem.
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I'm experiencing the same problem (1) with my Lumia 800. It started recently and does not always occur.

  • Nokia lumia 720 video recording

720P video is not recorded properly in my lumia 720, sometime video stucks in between while keep playing the video sound only. Please check

hi mate, are you saving your videos to memory card? try saving it to the phone memory to isolate your problem. if it saves fine to the phone, then it may be a problem with your memory card. also ensure that you are up to date with the latest firmware for your device, and that you are up to date with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store. and also try performing a soft reset. else you need to know that anything above a Class 4 memory card is overkill and may cause problems for your device, and also check also that your memory card is of a reputable brand such as Kingston or SanDisk.

  • Video Recording Issues

I (unfortunately) used the Blackberry Playbook to record a speech presentation today. I should have used a video camcorder instead, but opted for the Placbook to record at 720p with 32 gb of available memory and made sure there was adequate hard drive storage space. I activated the video camera, touched the red icon when the 'record video' functionality popped up. Right away the 'record' timer started and the speech ran for about an hour. There were no error messages during the recording process and the screen looked okay. I hit the red icon again to cease recording after 50 minutes and went to play back what I recorded and ... no video! Nothing on the hard drive! I checked all the folders, file manager, video, nothing! I may as well have held up a cardboard box!  I did a couple of extra test videos at a few seconds and those were fine but the near-hour piece was gone!
I spoke with BB tech support and they suggested it was a software issue.
After looking over this forum, reflecting on this negative experience and tech support comments, I realized perhaps this tablet is not really meant as a dedicated media recorder replacement (i.e. cam corder). BB may have released an incomplete beta device or a device with beta software (or both!). I was hoping there was a way to retrieve the hour long video. BB tech support was at a loss as to how to do this. They kept suggesting to reinstall the software.
    Anyone here know any better?
Very dissapointing! I doubt I will ever use this device for anything important.

I use the PlayBook as a dashcam to record ~30 minutes of 1080p video a day and have never had this happen.  I don't consider the PlayBook to be a dedicated photography tool, but it works very well as a video camera.
Did you perhaps close out of the camera before the "video saved" sound?  That may have corrupted the file.  An hour-long 720p video, from my recollection, would take about 4-6 seconds to completely save once you hit the Stop button.

  • Lumia 720. video recording

Hi all, I notied recently that when recording video in 720p the video stops and start every 2-3 seconds on playback. it seems to record fine on low res but not hi. Ive tried recording to phone memory and  sd card, niether make any difference. amber update installed.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi mate,
have you checked if your memory card is something like a class10 one? these class-cards are often overkill, when only a class 4 is needed and several users have reported problems in the past with such higher-class cards. also try performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates). failing that, you will need to backup everything to PC and/or SkyDrive and perform a hard reset.
