Lumia 710 Remaining Battery Life % Not Correct

I've had my Lumia 710 for a few months now and over the past week the remaining battery life percentage is way wrong.  For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%.  I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me.  A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%.  A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.
This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work.  After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery.  But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that.  Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?  It was accurate the first few months after I got the phone so I don't know what is going on.

Hi stephwin,
Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Sounds like they may be something wrong with the battery, especially the sudden battery "deaths" without any prior warning indicate that. We would advise you to visit your local Nokia Care point and let them have a look. Nokia Lumia 710 has a removable battery, so changing it should not be too much of a hassle if it comes to that.
Let us know how you get on,
Puigchild

  • MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz runs warm, battery life not bad?

    http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/security/investigator/archives/007864.asp
The MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz runs warmer, battery life not too bad!!!! You have to love that packaging...

With Windows XP machines the CPU has three basic speed modes (with many other power saving features)
Full speed , in this case 2GHZ
    low speed: 600MHZ or 800MHZ,
and 'dynamic' mode (throttles the cpu form around 100MHZ to 2GHZ on the fly according to demand).
So on a Windows machine you can set the cpu to run at 600MHZ constant which is good for heat issues ( and battery life)
Of course 'dynamic' mode also is good fo heat and the battery (nice to have options)
In practice these features work well and have been present in the mobile chips for quite a while now.

  • 2013 Macbook Air 13" battery life not as good as advertised

At full charge, the estimated battery life read a little over 17 hours. At 97%, it now reads 15:39. Like I get this is vastly better than the older Macbook Air, but it still falls quite short of the 24 hours advertised on the website. Currently, it is still at 97% but now the estimated battery running time reads 14:59. Is this normal? I accidentally drained my battery twice since I bought it at the beginning of August, and I understand that's not good for the newer batteries - could this be the reason? My screen brightness is at 50% and I have no movies or music playing. Safari is the only ap I have open.
I'd appreciate any ideas or help with this problem (that is, if it is one).
I just looked at the estimated time again, and while it is still at 97%, the estimated remaining time is at 13:48. It's taken me a little over a minute to type this.
I'm not very tech-savy - is there something wrong with the way I understood the advertised battery life?

The Air is nowhere advertised for 24 hrs. batt. life.........  in any configuration.

  • Lumia 620 - poor battery life

Lasting less than 6hrs, on continuous usage with whatsapp, email and games.
If battery saver is ON, there is a small increase in battery life.
Is nokia making any solutions for this, such as a bigger battery or lower screen brightness?

I have the same issue. However, this is what I've learned. When I ignore the critical battery warning and just keep using the phone I find that it will last an entire day. It's like the software running the battery life remaining service is not configured properly. When I go into Options, Battery Saver it says the battery life is 0, but will continue to run another 8 hours! Here's hoping it's just a software glitch and an update will come out soon.
I can confirm this. My mother was explaining that her phone was saying that her battery was critically low after a few hours of of being unplugged from the charger and saying a 100% charge. I told her something must be off with a battery memory or something (which is weird because I know these batteries aren't supposed to have memories) and to just keep using the phone until the phone fully died. I had her go into the battery saver and turn it off. Funny thing is it wouldn't die. She used it all day and it was fine. Her phone does this to her every day now. Sometimes after saying the battery it critically low for hours it will switch back and show it has 50-75% of the battery left.

For the past 2 days, my Lumia 710 thinks I'm somewhere I'm not.  It's stuck on a location and doesn't change despite the following attempts to resolve:
    - battery pull
    - delete map history
    - Nokia drive test run
    - Foursquare location refresh
Any one else experiencing this or has experienced this?

  • Lumia Icon: Differing Battery Life

Owners of white Lumia Icons, including myself, have noticed disappointing battery life, while owners of Black Icons have stellar battery life, lasting up to 24 hours. I'd usually pin this on differing styles of use, but the problem is widespread enough that it deserves an investigation by support. Perhaps it's due to Nokia using differing firmware depending on the color of the phone?
And yes, I have tried the usual battery saving tactics.

To say there is two different hardwears in a different coloured device is bonkers, imo, mainly this is all in the head as tow saying the black one is different than the white one,if your device is not up to par and you feel there is an issue return it to point of puchase or a nokia care point..

  • Tips for 710 poor battery life

    Hi all
I have to start with saying how much I like my Lumia. However, at times, my Lumia 710 will last less than five hours from full charge (via the Nokia wall charger).
So far Ive set to EDGE data only, uninstalled Facebook (no jokes, it does drain the battery), removed any app that uses a live tile and don't use Zune player as it seems to chew battery for some reason.
Please feel free to add tips to extend past five hours.
    Thanks all for your help.

I've tried tons of options and settings, and this is what I have so far.. with some moderate use it lasts the day, although when driving to and from work I plug it in to float the charge just because I can.
But still, even without charging it during the day, it's not bad now. With the larger battery (read below) it's even better!
I've disabled Bluetooth when I'm not using it (although for it to connect to my handsfree unit again I have to cycle it anyway.. )  - I downloaded one fo those Shortcut apps that allow direct LiveTile Access to Bluetooth and WiFi functions, helps lots.
Went to the Background Apps in Settings to ensure every app is disabled on the list. Disabled Live tiles as well, although some programs will complain that they won't update anyway when background running is off. Some exceptions, like Reader2Go, have settings that will only auto-update the LiveTile and RSS feeds between certain times, and I just ensure it doesn't update during the daytime.
I've also decreased the frequency of my mail updates, a couple of lesser accounts I don't care too much for I simply have updated manually when I check, while my main GMail is every hour. This will vary depending on how you use your mail, but this works for me..
Strange, that Hotmail lets me check every 2 hours, but GMail only 1.. Glitch or intended setting? A 2 hour setting for all accounts would have been nice..
Finally, I set my screen brightness to Low, and this eliminates the chance of it kicking in full brightness when outside.
One issue is that at times Automatic mode can make it even dimmer than "Low" allows! I wish there was more control in the brightness, as I don't need it that bright, and it has a significant impact on drain.
Nokia/MS: A screen brightness slider would be great, with the FULL range of brightness, as the current 3 settings aren't enough.
Check the battery status (Nokia Diags) and switch between the brightness levels, it's quite amazing how much the screen eats up.
So, right now, sitting idle it's between 150mAh and 170mAh, and when the screen goes way down before it shuts off, it drops to 115mAh. Now I'd be happy with a screen brightness between that and the current Low, especially in the evenings. This would go a long way to help battery power.
Playing music, it only uses an extra 20mAh, but connecting to WiFi eats an extra 90mAh. I haven't paid attention to Bluetooth activities, though I just keep it disabled anyway..
While the OEM battery is okay (1300mAh), it may not be enough.. here's a tip: Get a BP-4L battery! it's only a mm or so thicker, but is 1500mAh (apparently a newer iteration of it has over 1600..) and fits right in. You just need to take off that foam pad on the back of the cover. The cover will be snug to snap on and pry off, but still works and stays without an issue. Just a slight bulge as a result, but worth it I think..
Cut a piece of the pad and stick it to the original BP-3L battery, just to keep it from rattling from the extra space when it's in.
This also presents an extra battery to fall back to in times of heavy usage, and they don't take much room at all to carry.

  • I need help with IPHOne 4s IOS 7.0.4 battery life not improving

Alright, I Ned help with my iPhone 4S battler life, it is horrible, it will drain in about 12 hours. All I do is check my email, text a few people, and check a few apps. When I may school, it is a hundred percent, then I check it during school etc, when I go to bed it is about 20-30% battery life. Need help. Any suggestions? I tried a hard resets and restoring to a new iPhone etc, nothing worked.

I"m not at all sure what is the problem when you are describing your battery as holding its charge for 12 hours???
How long do you want your device to hold its battery charge???
Please see this article for tips on conserving battery charge. But PLEASE if you are looking for a device to hold its charge for LONGER than 12 hours I would suggest an android.

  • Lumia 920 overheating/battery life

I sent my phone in for repair a week ago because of a loose battery and have since got the phone back and it is all fine and it doesn't clunk around now, however I noticed on my commute to work this morning and on my way home that when I was playing games on the device (temple run, asphalt 7 and VBA8), it would cause the phone to run really hot as If I was touching a radiator. Battery life also dipped from 99% to 13% within roughly and hour and a half of use, so I have attached a screenshot of the battery level app to display this. Is this a known issue or another repair job?

Same problem here. I got a new black lumia 920, 2 weeks ago at SLot limited, Ikeja. and it heats up ,
    1. whenever I browse on 3G, (FB, twitter or skype)
    2.when I take some pictures (like 7 at a go)...forget games, I won't even go there
I've turned most of the perks (NFC, location et al off)... I thought this was a smartphone, why do we have to make it a 3310 for it to work...I also saw the video,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU6soZi61GQ,  If the problem is the procesor, why doesnt Nokia do the dignified thing and call back the faulty phones or equip the care centres with the technical know-how to insulate these phones. especially for their flagship phone... This is absolutely sad.
I was actually thinking of going to the care centre before but from the reviews above, It just a waste of time. We should all have been advised at the point of purchase that we were buying a radiator....hiss

  • IOS 5 fix not working battery Life not any better about 80% loss in 8 hours with no use

I updated my iPad with the 5.0.1 update, to fix my battery issues. This hasn't fixed anything, what to do. 80% battery life loss in 8 hours with nothing being used?

Have you checked all your settings to see if anything is running in the background e.g. location services, frequent email fetching, notifications etc - there are some tips on this page which might help, including doing a charge cycle (charging to 100%, running it down so that it powers off, and then charging back to 100%) : http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
Also are then any apps on the taskbar that might still be active ? To close apps completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of an app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a reset and see if that makes any difference : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Lumia 800 Short Battery Life

    Hello,
I bought my Lumia 800 2 months ago and I've been a happy user until recently. In the past, it could remain in standby mode up to 5 days after a full charge (with WiFi on, no 3G). However, in the past few days, it couldn't even last over a night after a full charge. Within 24 hours, the battery would be drained completely and it would auto shut-down.
I haven't installed any new apps or changed my connection settings, and I think the only change I've done is to update WhatsApp to v2.8.
So, is there a problem with my phone which needs to be repaired? I have always been using the lowest brightness level and I'm a very light user (almost never use it), so it seems abnormal that such a new phone can't even be switched on overnight.
    Thanks

    Hi Billyfoo
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
Have you tried doing a soft reset on the device? By holding down the volume down key and the power button at the same time this will do a reset on your device but will not erase any data. Also do you have any background applications running? You can check this by going into settings and scrolling across to applications and then background tasks.
Also have you checked your Zune application for any updates? Make sure you have the latest firmware.
Furthermore you can also check the below link for a few battery tips:

  • Late 2011 macbook pro 13" battery life not good

I can leave my laptop plugged in all night turned off, and in the morning it only has 99% battery. It seems to quickly discharge. After about an hour an a half, I am down to 50%. I bought this computer in October. I has intel core i7 with 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. This does not seem normal. If it is in sleep mode, the battery will drain over night if not plugged in. If the battery drains completely overnight when not plugged in, the machine is either not going to sleep at all or not staying asleep. That is not normal, and you need to figure out which is true and what's preventing the machine from sleeping. When the sleep light pulses, the machine is asleep. When the sleep light is on steadily, not pulsing, the display is asleep, but the computer is not. Before leaving the machine for the night tonight, make sure the sleep light is pulsing. Then note the light's status in the morning before you wake the computer. Post back with your findings.
An overnight drain from full to 99% while shut down is normal, because once the battery is fully charged, charging stops, and does not resume until the battery has gradually drained to below 95%. Whenever a battery isn't being charged, it is slowly losing its charge, even if nothing is connected to it at all. This is a fundamental property of batteries.
Battery runtime while the computer is in use depends entirely on what the computer is doing and on your user settings. The maximum battery-powered running times advertised by Apple can only be achieved if the machine is doing almost nothing and all energy-saving settings are maximized. To maximize running time on a charge, do all of the following:
Dim the screen as far as you can stand
    Turn off keyboard backlighting
    Turn off BlueTooth
Turn off Airport when it's not in use
Make sure you aren't using the discrete GPU, if your MBP has one
Disconnect all bus-powered peripheral devices: portable hard drives, iPhones, iPods, iPads, USB mice, USB trackpads and keyboards, graphics tablets, cameras, etc., etc.
Quit all applications that aren't in active use
Close all application windows and tabs that aren't in active use
When using wifi, avoid web sites that have Flash content, including advertisements
    Don't use the optical drive
Don't stream multimedia content form the Web
If you can take all these steps and still get anything useful done, you may be able to get close to Apple's maximum running time estimate for your machine. In practice, very few of us can accomplish anything under these conditions, so we don't expect anything like maximum running time on a charge.
